Will Twilight be a Blockbuster Movie? ~ Week #37

Oct 15th, 2008 | By | Category: Featured Articles, Podcasts

This week Kassie and I get right to the point, discussing whether Twilight will be star-studded or star-dudded!  We loved reading your answers, because they were all so diverse.  There was no way we could let the show go by without sharing our opinions either!  The Host segment is a bit of a bust, but you will have to listen to figure out why!  (I know, I am such a tease!)  This weeks music is great, it is Crooked Things Straight by Kensington Prairie.  Hope you love the show!

  1. Marci (major obsessed) says:

I know it will be the best movie of the year by far. It will make triple the amount it took to make it therefore they will have millions of dollars to make the rest of the movie. The stars will all get really famous from this movie too.

  2. Jasmine says:

TWILIGHT IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Laurie says:

Hey guys love the podcast. Love the segment on The host ( love this book). Anyway I heard you say that Ian doesn’t hurt Wanda but he does. Ian is the one that chokes her when wanda puts herself between Jared and Kyle (when Jared is keeping her in the little storage cave). Page 146. Infact Kyle is trying to beat up Jared while Ian is trying to kill Wanda.

Hope ya all have fun Podcasting with Imprint can’t wait to listen to that one. I love both of ya alls podcast.

  6. Tori says:

twilight is going to be a blockbuster if…
    1. people see it more than once
    2. people other than crazed fans go see it (twlight has alot of fans but not enough to make it a blockbuster on their own.)
    3. the move is close to the book.
If the movie is anything like the book, it well be one of the best movies of the year. The movie cannot look like a low bugget film or nontwilighters will not go see it.

p.s. I heared rumors that summut is starting to look at making new moon into a movie. This is where I heard it, http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/summit-already-readying-twilight-sequel/

  7. Broghan Taylor says:

That wasn’t a poor excuse for a host segment.. actually your comparison of Twilight guys to Host guys was the first thing that’s caught my attention and made me consider reading The Host.. It’s nothing against Stephenie’s other work, I just can’t tear myself out of Forks!

The only sad news I heard in the Twilight blockbuster discussion was that there’s a significant number of fans who are refusing to see the movie!? I know that they don’t want to “ruin” their perfect vision.. but they’re not going to give the movie a chance? I don’t know if its because the trailer makes Rob’s and Kristen’s lines seem flat* or because they hate the casting choices.. Really though, I read somewhere that Stephenie saw the movie and liked it so much she wished she’d had time to watch it again right away.. if -that’s- not a ringing endorsement I don’t know what is.

Melissa’s script is very faithful to the characters and the plot sequencing. Some of the dialogue is changed, but the essence is there. The thing to remember is, if its good enough for Stephenie, why shouldn’t it be good enough for me?

(*personally I think the trailer is a bad representation of Rob/Kristen’s acting ability – and I feel that in the context of a whole scene, dialogue/banter in general will seem more natural and dynamic)

  9. Laura says:

Is it on iTunes because I can’t find it? Um maybe my internet’s slow again ugh. bye.

  10. Laura says:

Sorry it there iTunes is just being stupid today.

  11. Laura says:

I forgot is. wow being random

  12. Lisa says:

I think it will make big bucks because the teens are the ones who actually frequent the theaters with their moolah, and obviously, this production is highly teen-oriented. This is precisely what makes me concerned about how GOOD it will be – whether it will weave the story well, or whether it will pander to the teen scene. The second trailer has made me much more hopeful about the overall quality of both the production and the writing. The first trailer was truly weak, and a lot of the promo photos they’ve released have been cheesy/very amateur-looking. Those indicators have me questioning what we’re actually going to see onscreen in November. But, I’m hoping for the best. I’ll admit, I’m almost fully converted to Rob Pattinson as Edward. When his casting was first announced … um … let’s just say, I was ugly about it. Cheers!

  13. Sarah says:

alice doesnt even kidnap bella in twilight 🙁
this movie will still be AWESOME though.. i hope

  14. Angie G says:

hehe the “host” part of the show was cracking me up! Even though i was suuuuuper sad that Callie didnt read, you guys were still fun to listen to =) keep it up. CALLIE REEEEEAD!!!

  15. Angie G says:

er no im a dumby! Kassie REEEEEAD!!! lol

  16. melissa says:

It’s going to be so weird hearing you guys and the imprint people talking!!!! I’ve listened to both of you guys seperately for so long!!!! Mugglecast is still my fav. podcast which is the same ppl from imprint

  17. Melissa (melissaturkey) says:

I think the host section was still cool. It was fun hearing the opinion of the host and twilight guys, but seriously kassie read!

  18. Lindsay says:

Omg i think twilight will be a big blockbuster hit beause i know alot of people that absolutley loved the book including me and i have already read the series twice lol and i am going to see the movie alreayd 3 times so far with different people every time i am so excited i am like going crazy

  19. Clairey says:

    Hey Guys.
Hopefully its not to late to comment..
I am sure that the movie will die mid flight.
After seeing trailer no. 3, I can’t stop worring on whether it will be well acted or not. Rob and Kris are great. really. but for such a deep and powerful movie they lack the seriousness. its not another holywood clechee. IT IS TWILIGHT. plus their kiss is way to violent ! hehehehehe 🙂
    love you guys lottss

    xoxox
    the australian…

  20. rita says:

I think that twilight will be a blockbuster if it follows the book. But judging from the trailer, it doesn’t look like it. In some way, Hollywood steps in and puts in their own version to make it more exciting. Yeah it makes the movie more suspenseful but following the book is just as good! hopefully it will be the best movie ever and get a lot of good review because Stephanie Meyer deserves it for writing such amazing books!

  21. Lindsay says:

    yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssirrrr 🙂

  22. lyndalya cain says:

    of course it will be

  23. Krissa says:

I definitely think it will be a blockbuster!
I know I am going to go see it a few times, to give Stephenie and Catherine the credit they deserve. I love the fact that they did not choose this HUGE actors/actresses…Makes it better. They made such great choices in the casting. I am SO SO SO excited to see this.
I LOVE the podcast I think you guys are so GREAT!!!!
    Much love,
    Krissa

  24. I hope it’s the bestest movie of the year,
If it turns out to be not that great(which it better not) then I will be
    very disappointed.
After all of course the movie is never gonna be better then
    the book. They never are.

  25. Laura says:

    Where’s the podcast?

  26. Kim says:

I was listening to your podcast, and would like to comment on why people who aren’t fans of the books should see the movies. Both my niece and nephew are big fans of the books. I am an avid reader and huge fan of Harry Potter. They both tried to talk me into reading the books, but I’m not really into the whole “vampire” thing. About a month or so ago, I saw the teaser trailer for the movie. Well that did it. It really spiked my interest. It has everything a good movie needs, a love story, action, suspense, and intrigue. It looked so good that I decided to cave in and read the books. Well, I’m hooked. I LOVE the books so much I’ve read them all 4 times already. I’ve started listening to podcasts, keeping up with the news etc…
This movie is going to get to people of all ages(I’m 32) and they will become fans. Some will go on to read the books, others will just follow the movies. This fandom base is just taking off.

  27. Beth says:

Kassie: If you cannot read the Harry Potter books, pickup the audio version at the library! My kids have been listening to the audio books since they were very small and Jim Dale is an awesome reader! I don’t think you will be able to stop listening once you start. That could be your next book challenge after finishing The Host 🙂

And I am excited to see Rob as Edward TODAY!
