ok so am I the only one that gets uber ticked off when everyone compares the lure of vampires to sex?!? I mean my God, it seems every article seems to think that there is an underlying theme of it undneath the Twilight surface, I mean sure lust is there, it is not ignored but all this emphases on it is getting old. do they ever stop to think that maybe the enderlying theme was -oh I dont know -just a plain old love story?

I mean Stephenie has said that when she sat down to write it it was just this: a compulsion to write this incredable love story between these two people in her dream: a unbelivably handsome vampire and an ordinary human girl. There was no hidden moral, no hidden theme. So whats all this about unconsumated lust and sexual frustration-I mean thats there but its not the whole story and I cant beleive Im the only one that gets annoyed by it!

I only mention this because that was all it talked about in that ny times article and I just had to voice my thoughts, I realize that some of those words (ie sex, sexual frustration, and lust) might not be apropriete for all on this site so forgive me if it offends anyone, its just speaking as a sixteen yr old girl, it just ticks me off when they think every YA novel targeted to us teens reflects what apparently is all we think about and it is simply not true, I have plenty of things that fill my head and I dislike being told that I dont.
Again Im sorry if I said anything innapropriete but I had to clear the air, sorry ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Brandi says:

Melissa, I totally agree with everything you said! And yes it frustrates me too!!
On the subject of the beard, I kinda like it. ๐Ÿ™‚
I haven’t noticed that Nikki looks like Kate, but I guess in certain lights and angles I can see what you’re saying.
I like these pics, they are fantastic!

I totally agree with Melissa! That whole article was about how Twilight is all about sex and that is the real appeal for teens to the book. That’s BS. (sorry…but i mean, come on)! I really thought that article was completely ridiculous and it made Twilight and teens sound obsessed with sex. Stephenie wrote the book for her own personal enjoyment and it came from a beautiful dream of an impossible love story. I hate when people try to over-analyze Twilight. That’s not what the story is for… it’s just to read, LOVE, and read again. There’s no “deeper meaning,” which is the REAL appeal to many teens. Because, i mean, we get enough books that we have to pick apart and do assignments on in school! Ok…im done. haha. sorry, but i had to say something.

  11. Xtremetwilghter says:

oh. and Rob rely does look gross with a beard. hobo status definitely. haha.

  12. Shteff! says:

I’m agreeing ful on with mellissa and everyone else who has reacted to her coment..but..thebeard. HOBO ROBERT MWHAA
