    1. Kathryn Bigelow
    2. Joss Whedon
    3. Alfonso Cuaron

These are my top choices, in the appropriate order! If they couldn’t get Joss to direct, he’d be great to do the script (even though i know they will probably keep Melissa Rosenberg).

It cant be a harry potter director!!!
I do not enjoy the harry potter movies and do not think they stay true to the books at all. If it was a harry potter director they could mess the entire thing up!

  3. Lauren says:

Catherine Hardwicke would be my DREAM director.
Maybe they can pull in Julie Taymor. She’s pretty amazing.

  4. LeeEtta says:

    I agree with Peter Jackson.

  5. Alana says:

    Joss Whedon or Peter Jackson

i agree with lauren. catherine wardwick would be the best director of new moon. i have grown to trust her. now that i saw twilight and i loved it why would i want someone else toying with the series. it is a fragile movie to portray bc there are so many fans and catherine hardwick succeeded once and i am sure she could succeed again. i never liked the fact that harry potter always had a different director. they all bring their onw style to the movie that the audience can feel aswell and i prefur a consistant style to a series. i really loved the way Catherine wardwick showed almost the reality of it. (the boys playing around in lunch, and the honest and awkward dialoge bw bella and edward) it was beautiful. the lengh and pauses bw each line were so perfect, the acting was very good and i just love the way it was directed. but then again that is just my opinion. this is not a very productive answer, being that catherine hardwick is not directing noow moon, but i had to get that off my cheast.

either Gullimero Del Toro or Joss ‘The Boss’ Whedon. Both are amazingly visual directors and have a real sense of how to make things scary and yet innocent at the same time. They’ve both played in the genre loads before and are just great as directors too!!

As long as they don’t just pick a big name director for the sake of it, to make more money or get more press. They could pick Tim Burton (who i love too) but only if he’s right for the job and really ‘gets’ the theme of the books and the story; not just cause they hope to bring in a bigger audience!

Whomever stated Katherine Bigelow, bravo! Interesting choice as he work is testosterone driven (such as Point Break) and would get the adrenaline pumping cliff dive and motor cycle scenes working. Interesting choice, but not my first pick as she’s a great choice for the high action of werewolves, but not what I’d see as an intimate portrait of Edward and Bella’s reunion in Italy.

How about Suzanna White, who did the Jane Eyre for Masterpiece Theater 2 years ago, and Generation Kill last year. She’s already worked with Kellan Lutz, and can do emotional drama as well as action, knows how to work with both actors and actresses and with a small budget and tight schedule as well as adverse shooting conditions.

Cuuran is also an inspired choice, as he has a tremendous eye so the film (or films) would be amazing to look at. However, I’m thinking that the pick is going to be someone we haven’t heard too much about due to how short a time there is to prep one to two films (some directors take years to prep a film) as well as what a director gets paid and what their incentive package is (points in the profits and after market – DVD sales) they can work with Summit.

Whoever is chosen, that person needs to be able to work in an effects laden environment, and still capture the *essence* of the Twilight saga, meaning the the relationship between Edward and Bella. Its a roll of the dice for any company and producer to choose someone to approach well known material. I only hope there is some director out there as in love with the material as we are, who understands and look forward to learning who this new director will be.

I wish Catherine Hardwick all the luck in the world. Her career is taking off. Her next piece is working with Jack Nicholson, and that is a good position to be in as far as a career is concerned 🙂

if we can’t have Catherine Hardwicke doing it i agree with a few other people here, Stephenie should do it. okay so it’s a little far-fetched but we know she’s a genius and she’s already directed a music video.
i know a lot of people have been saying a male director could do it, but really, would he have the same passion and enthusiasm for it as a woman, as catherine did?
there were some really great suggestions on here…..nick cassevetes, joss whedon……but i still say catherine or stephenie.

Niki Caro. Go watch North Country for an understanding how she could coordinate the nuances of the many characters and stories. Then, put in Whale Rider, grab a box of tissues, and watch how she can convey the power of the beliefs of native people’s and how they can influence situations in a community.

  14. Gwenivere says:

I read all the comments and I have to say how surprised I am that a lot of people have chosen the same two directors that I would want. Tim Burton would be absolutely amazing. He would be able to make New Moon dark and visually dynamic. This is what this movie needs. Someone who does not view this as a “teen story”. Someone who will bring substance to the film. But since he is busy with his upcoming movies like Alice in Wonderland I don’t think he will be available. However, Alfonso Cuaron does not have any upcoming movies that he is working on that I know of and he would also be an outstanding choice. He changed the whole look of the Harry Potter movies and for the better! Thank god he could see what others couldn’t because I needed someone to understand the tone the films were supposed to be set in. I think Summit should just cough up the money and offer it to Alfonso. He would be their best bet. Not that others can’t do a great job, but they need someone who can make it darker with more depth. No more of this teen stuff.

I personally think it should be anyone that can capture the passion between Edward and Bella better then Catherine did cause we all know that “Twilight” the movie did no justice compared to the book. Am I right ,or am I right????
