“Breaking Dawn” Not Green-Lit?

Apr 21st, 2009 | By | Category: Featured Articles, Movie News

EW talked to Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg about the production of Breaking Dawn, and she saysย  the film has NOT yet been green-lit.

“The most I’ve heard from Summit is ‘re-read it and start thinking about it,'” says Rosenberg, who is completing her show-running duties on the fourth season of the Showtime series Dexter. More telling, she hasn’t yet received one of the manifestos Meyer famously puts together before Rosenberg begins turning one of her books into a movie. Another source is also skeptical that Summit is far along in developing a fourth film. “As far as I know, Stephenie was still having meetings asking, ‘Can we really make this into a movie?'” The fourth book’s racy sex and explicit birth scenes make it less pre-teen friendly then the three earlier, more chaste romance novels. Summit, for its part, has no comment on the current status of Breaking Dawn.”

  2. Tatiana says:

I think it’s a wise move not to do Breaking Dawn as a movie, dont get me wrong I love the books it’s just that its going to be so CRAZY!! Will Bella and the baby and everything it would be completly CRAZY!! They would have to do a lot of CGI for Nessie and it might not come out looking real. I just want them to keep the dignity of the book because if they screw up Breaking Dawn I would be really upset.

  3. AMY KAT says:

Well that’s a kill joy!!! And here I was so excited when I saw the “rumor” earlier today. * TEAR *

  4. Gabby says:

it would be pointless to make three movies and not the fourth. I really want to see it and hope they do it.

  5. Cedar says:

WHAT NOW I HAVE TO TELL EVERYONE THAT IT MIGHT NOT HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO SAD I LOVED BD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Erica says:

I agree with Tatiana. If the CGI isnt going to be good then alot of people would be really unhappy. Maybe they will have better technology for that kinda stuff when its time to make the movie. I dont really know much about that. And if they do make it then would it have to be two movies? Because if they had trouble squeezing Twilight into 2 hrs then BD would be really tough.

“racy sex and explicit birth scenes”

ummm… no! It would have been awesome if the books gave us more but they really didn’t

WE NEED THIS MOVIE! If some parents don’t want their kids to see it that is their chose, nut other parents will

DO NOT PUNISH ALL OF US ๐Ÿ™

  8. Stephanie says:

They can’t just make the three of the four. That would be pointless. All of the biggest things happen in Breaking Dawn! And as for the “racy sex and explicit birth scenes,” the movie is still a few years down the line (if it is to be made) so the fans now will grow and mature within these few years. I think we’ll be able to be handle it.

  9. Robby says:

To Stephanie: And some of us is already old ahahahaha..:(…omg I’m so old..

  10. Lyncoln says:

They better make this movie!! And I’d like to read the racy sex scenes they mentioned b/c they weren’t in my book. LOL I think the only thing that will be difficult is the birth scene. And the way I see it, if you didn’t like BD, then DON’T GO SEE IT!! It’s as simple as that! There’s alot of us that do want to see it made into a film. I honestly don’t care if it has to be rated R. It’s only going to be for the birth scene. *shrug*

    -_-””””
So? Just higher up the age ffs lol
    I’ll get in ๐Ÿ˜‰
    hahahaha
    xox

Okay, I’m just throwing this out, but preteens and teens probably wouldn’t care about the sex and birth scenes. I mean, content levels have been going up. Teens and preteens are starting to get the same content level as adults. It probably wouldn’t matter too much to them. Just throwing that out there. ๐Ÿ™‚ I say Breaking Dawn should be a movie!
