Vampires & Slayers has released a snippet of their interview with “New Moon” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who compares Edward and Jacob.  (You may need to sign up to see the link.)

“VAMPIRES & SLAYERS: What would you say is the difference between Bella’s relationship with Edward and the one developing between her and Jacob?

MELISSA ROSENBERG: Jacob is very much the human 17-year-old, and Edward is the hundred-year-old, and you’ve got the difference between this guy, Jacob, who’s very earthbound and human in his own way. Even the difference between them is physical: one is ice cold and the other is running at 108 degrees temperature at all times. One (Jacob) is very immediate and displays very emotional responses, the other is very cool and thought out, and has been alive for a hundred years, so he doesn’t act very impulsively or rashly. With Edward, everything is very thought out and contained and there is an elegance to him and a sophistication to him. So that’s a very attractive thing about him, as well as his contained sensuality. Whereas with Jacob there is an abrupt passion bursting out. It is the two sides of all of us in some ways. I think that the choice between the two of them is the otherworldly or the earthly.”

YEAH MELISSA…RIGHT ON….WE EACH HAVE A LITTLE OF BOTH IN US ALL, NICE ASSUMPTION. CAN WE FIND GUYS WITH BOTH EDWARD AND JACOB’S PERSONALITIES IN ONE BODY!?….THAT WOULD BE NICE!

  2. Dawn says:

WAIT A MINUTE…..THAT WOULD BE A COMBUSTIBLE COMBINATION IN ONE BODY THOUGH WOULDN’T IT???

I’m sorry but what? I always thought Edward is sometimes TOO emotional. Especially in Eclipse…I mean, can we all say ” ‘obssessed and over-protective’ much?” I like Edward and all, especially with Bella, but when I read it the second time around…I really started to see specific annoying flaws in Edward

she’s good, but that is not how she wrote him in the Twilight movie. he was too teenage in the movie… what was that all about?

Ok something about this woman has been rubbing me the wrong way the whole time. i couldn’t believe that they would change directors & not screenwriters. Her scripts must be so good and then get lost in the edit room, because I think the script for twilight was horrible. Still a decent movie but only because I read the book. I thought people who never read the books wouldn’t get the movie at all. I have got my fingers crossed that the rest will turn out better.

theres just something about her that i just cant stand
honestly i thought she BUTCHERED the first script there were so many little scenes that would have been so easy to add in and would have been so important to the actual love story
i liked the film but if i hadnt of read the books… im not so sure i would of
honestly the fanfic authors out there would have done a better job atleast they actually know the characters
i really dont know why they kept her

and jacob is 16! she doesnt even know his age so how is she supposed to write about him
    ok rant over 🙂
