Breaking Dawn: Will The Movie Beat The Book?

Jun 22nd, 2009 | By | Category: Featured Articles, Movie News

Reelz Channel has an article on whether or not the Breaking Dawn movie will be better than the book!  There are some pretty funny observations in the article 🙂

“1.  Bella & Edward’s wedding

The wedding and first 100 pages of Breaking Dawn is, without a doubt, the most entertaining part of the book. It’s like old style Twilight, with every character acting as they should (except for Edward and the garter … weird much?), and the ever-present Bella-Edward-Jacob love triangle. Unfortunately, the most anticipated event since the Millennium is over all too quickly and things start to get worse as soon as our vampire and his bride reach their honeymoon destination, the Isle Esme. When Breaking Dawn is finally made into a movie, more emphasis should be put into the wedding: It’s the last time a lot of fans felt like they were reading The Twilight Saga and not some dodgy fan-fic found on the Internet.”

i love breaking dawn and thought that it was very good and entertaining but apparently a lot of people disagree

  2. Judith Akufo says:

This article just reminds me how terrible Breaking Dawn was. It really was like a fan fiction, plus I didn’t even get the point, their wasn’t a central plot.

  3. Gabby says:

It is true Breaing Dawn wasn’t the best in the series, but it was still good. It just seems worse because things are actually going good for a while unlike in the rest of the series. In BD theres no knew love first love or main bad thing going against Bella and Edward. I hope the movie is awesome though.

  4. laCullensCantante says:

i don’t understand how fans of the series could be so harsh on Breaking Dawn it is a very good book and its what Stephenie had planned for HER characters from the beginning true its not my favorite either but its still a good way to end the series so just stop hating you’ve had 10 months to get over the shock of it and just enjoy the plot

  5. kim says:

I can’t see how it could be a good movie (I do like the book)… a tv series maybe

  6. Michele Celine says:

I disagree with all the people that didn’t like BD. Breaking Dawn actually was one of my favorites (New Moon is now my #1 but still team EDWARD!). I know it did seem a little fan fic/ soap opera but I think it was a neat way to end the series. I don’t think it would have been as good without Renesmee. As well as Jacob imprinting on her.

  7. nathaly says:

BD was my favorite of the series, although there where a few things i wanted still wanted answers to. I dont understand why so many people disliked it and i dont think it will be a good movie unless they split it into two movies

  8. loveydovey says:

I loved breaking dawn! how could anyone say that it was bad!
i really hope that when filming, they stick to the story without deviations. improvements yes, but i really hope they stick to the story.
I could not get enough of this book, specially during the wedding.

The book wrap things up: they all become family because Bella brings them all together. (well ultimately with Renesmee).
    can’t way for the movie!

  9. Jessica says:

I also don’t understand how people could not LOVE Breaking Dawn- it’s everything that people wanted.
#1 Bella and Edward get married
#2 Bella and Edward have sex
    #3 Edward changes Bella
#4 Bella and Edward are happy in their marriage
#5 Jacob & Bella find a way to be friends and stay in each others life
#6 None of our beloved characters die
All that and on top of it we get a thriller that I personally didn’t believe would leave me without some character lost…..besides a Denali character I never connected with to begin with…..so whatever…..I think the Bella pregnancy had me on the edge of my seat- I did think we might loose her for a while. I was grateful when she survived! I was captivated when she became a vampire and developed her own power- which ROCKS BTW! I don’t understand what people wanted if they didn’t like Breaking Dawn. Did they want to loose Alice? Bella & Edward? Was it because there wasn’t a blood bath? It was a mental thriller and I LOVED it!

  10. Samie says:

i agre jessica. i loved it… it wasnt my fav outta the 4..new moon was my fav. but it still rocked! i dont understand why ppl hate it.. mind yout it took me by suprize the whole book i haad to read it twice to figure out if i liked it and i did like it!

  11. Samie says:

    *i agree jessica

  12. Zee says:

ya i wasn’t please with BD either.. it’s my least fave book in the series.. i’m still trying to convince myself to re-read it (i’ve read the other books multiple times). i feel like BD really left out a lot of the Edward-Bella chemistry, and I feel like Edward’s character was not as appealing. basically, Edward didn’t feel like Edward imo.

overall, i think the pace of the book was too fast, and Edward and Bella’s life as a married couple wasn’t lived out as I was expecting. i’m still peeved that Renesmee happened, and pondering how on earth Edward’s “little swimmers” survived his transformation into a vampire.. i know it’s Stephenie Meye’s realm and she can make what of it, but to me, it’s still ridiculous and far-fetched.. it’s very disconnected from the first three books.

  13. Zee says:

i do have a fave in the book.. Jacob’s entire ‘book’ section/chapters were certainly entertaining….. UNTIL he imprinted on Renesmee

  14. Twerd says:

    Me dos on Jessica

  15. Jess S. says:

WTF Breaking Dawn was incredible, and how do you think it makes SM who I think is a genius feel? BD was my favorite of the series, the Wedding, Isle Esme, Renesmee how can u hate that and give me a break everyone would have been pissed off if any of the Cullens died.

  16. Rosalyn says:

I liked Breaking Dawn! I also don’t understand why people did not like it! It answered a lot of questions and brought our Edward and Bella to a happy conclusion. We got a glimpse of what their was and is. I did not like the middle; it felt as if Jacob was around when he had o business. Everyone got their happy ending. I liked the battle scene because it was not the usual fight action scene but a battle of wills, which you would expect with the Cullens. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that Jacob imprinted on the baby, that was just too weird for my taste. It does make me wonder about how they would do the movie and what would they delete or add. But I would not care if the movie sucked, I will still buy it and add it to my collection.

  17. Heather says:

Am I the only one who actually liked BD the best? It was definetely my favourite.

  18. Mary says:

Hopefully they will find a good director…like Chris Weiz perhaps…! BD has so much to tell and to show. Twilight saga is not complete without BD! But I understand if people don´t really understand the book if they are younger than 15 or 16. It´s a story about young adults for young adults and not for children! And I hope they will make a film for young adults and not for children!

  19. Jasmine says:

BD WA MY FAV! IT’S GOING TO KICK ASS!!!! WHOOT!!!!

    JAZZ (TEAM CULLEN!)

  20. BreeJ says:

I have to strongly disagree, BD is my favorite and the wedding was good the way it was, short and sweet. That article says that they should make the wedding longer because its one of the best parts,, i hope they dont i could think of a hundred more things from the book that were better…..

  21. Carolina G.B. says:

The books cannot be compared to the movie. Stephenie Meyer has done an incredibly phenomenal job at describing and writing the books in the most perfect of all ways. The timing is great. If they do a movie it will sure be awesome but the books will always be the perfect description to all scenes.

  22. Carolina G.B. says:

    And I love BD!!!!☺

  23. Shanise says:

I didn’t like Breaking Dawn I was really bored through the entire thing except Jacob’s book. There were some good twists and turns but between those parts of the book there wasn’t really anything there. I had to make myself actually finish the book because I already knew there was going to be a happy ending from reading the last page of the book. I had no problem with the Renesme thing because I’m really into science fiction so I didn’t really have a hard time accepting the concept of Bella being pregnant. I did have a problem with Jacob imprinting on Renesme because I don’t have any real reason to like her yet besides her being a cute cuddly baby of an extremely high intelligence with some cool extra powers I would have prefered for Jacob to end up with Leah. Breaking Dawn just didn’t hold my interest like the other books. Breaking Dawn will be to difficult to make into a movie. I don’t know how they’ll be able to afford to pay so many actors that the movie will require. Or how to keep the film PG-13 sure they’ll be able to work around the sex since there are no real sex scenes in the book but how are they going to do the birth scene and it’s to important to cut out of the movie. My five year old sister only has three main facial expressions so how are they going to get someone even younger to play Renesme who is described as being very expressive. I don’t see how a Breaking Dawn movie could be made in a way that stays true to the book.

  24. Melissa (melissaturkey) says:

I feel sorry for realz channel, I looked at the comments and theres like a war going on, names are being called, world war 3 has been declared on the author who wrote the article. its terrible.

  25. alana paulette says:

i liked breaking dawn alot and would love to see it as a movie because i feel the series wouldnt be complete without it just my opinion and the picture of renessme looks like an alien lol and also becasue of the birth scene..a rated R movie? wich most of us will most def get to see?

  26. Andy says:

I would like to see Breaking Dawn as a movie. And I don’t get why people dislike it…

BUT, if Summit do make Breaking Dawn into a movie, I am sure that they will want it a PG13/12A so they will tone down Renessme birthscene and not show us any sex scenes.

  27. Anika says:

haha i get where Reelz is coming form but i still loved breaking dawn and cant wait for the movie.

  28. pauline says:

i think they should make it in to a movie because it the book where all the characters come full circle ad it give a happy ending to Bella’s and Edward’s love story it makes it complete with out it it will just leave the fans hanging at eclipse

  29. lizzzzzzy says:

you people are craaaaaaaaazy! breaking dawn was the best out of the four books. it is amazingg, romantic, and perfect in every single way. but the movie will deff not beat the book. none of the movies will because theyre not like the books. twilight was all wrong and so will be the other movies.

  30. Sharayah says:

Breaking Dawn was absolutley amazing. I was hoping it would have a happy ending that way. So Ashley Greene who plays Alice said that they are going to start filming Breaking Dawn right after Eclipse but Summit said that they haven’t confirmed Breaking Dawn yet and don’t know if they will make the 4th movie… WTF? How can they just make 3 movies, about the first 3 books and not complete the last instalment. That would be an incomplete story. We need to start a petition for them to make Breaking Dawn. They have to. It won’t be complete without it.

  31. Cloiz says:

I LOVED BREAKING DAWN IT IZ MY FAV OF THE SEREIS!! I LIKE IT BCUZ IT HAS EVERYTHING IN IT THAT WE ALL WANTED TO HAPPEN AND SOME. I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND Y PPLE HATE IT OR DISLIKE IT.. IT IS A REALLY GOOD BOOK.. PPLE JST DONT LIKE IT BCUZ THEY HATE JACOB N ABOUT A LIL UNDER HALF IS HIM(TEAM SWITZERLAND BY THE WAY), IT GOES KINDA SLOW, AND THE FACT THAT THERE IS NOT A BIG HUGE BATTLE WITH THE VOLTURI.. BUT THINK IF IT HADDA BEEN A BATTLE. SOME OF THE CULLENS WUDVE HAD TO DIE. WHICH WUDVE PISSED US ALL OFF.. I MEAN COME ON U GOT YOUR BIG BATTLE IN ECLIPSE N IF THAT WAZNT ENOUGH FOR U TOO BAD.. ALSO HOW CAN FANS OF THE SAGA NOT SUPPORT THE BOOK AND CALL SM NAMEZ N STUFF. THAT DOESNT MAKE SENCE CUZ UMM THEY STILL LUV THE OTHER 3. N IT REALLY DOESNT MATTER IF U LIKE HOW THE STORY WENT OR NOT BCUZ ITS NOT YOUR SERIES U DIDNT CREATE IT SM DID AND DATS HOW SHE WANTED IT TO END.. IF U WANT IT TO END A DIFFERENT WAY THEN STRT YO OWN SERIES THEN U CAN DO WHATEVE U WANT TO WIT IT.. BUT PERSONALLY BD WAZ AMAZING I LOVED IT FROM BEGINING TO THE END ESPICIALLY RENESMEE!! I LOVE THE WHOLE TWILIGHT SAGA AND I THINK SM IS A GENIUS!!!

  32. Kayla says:

Breaking Dawn was a great movie! I loved it SO much! Stephenie Meyer is such a great author and writer! Wow! I have re-read the books twice, and am almost done with the third time. It will have to be PG13 or 12A because of the sex scenes, and Renesmee’s birth. I also wonder what Bella will look like after her change to immortality. I can’t wait for the movie!!!

  33. Nana Afia says:
