I think Twilight would win because who believe in magic any more, but some people believe in finding the perfect guy. And Harry Potter has been around for nearly a decade. And Twilight is new and fresh out of the oven. Magic is really old, but love is always new!

i think the whole point is that they AREN’T competing. they’re steering clear of each others release dates, both books and movies. if they don’t compete, they will both earn more, and show more deference to the fans – they know we don’t want to have to choose! and since they ARE so different, there’s no point in comparing the two – movies or books. monetarily you could declare a winner, but we all know some of the best stories are the most underestimated

I agree with most everyone that Harry Potter and Twilight should not compete, because they are totally different. I am a big fanatic of both the series, and would like to keep them seperate. But as for WHY they compete, I know why. Its not as much how many people are fans of each book series (because I am pretty sure that Stephanie and JK dont want to compete) but it is more for the MONEY. These franchises have made SOOOO much dough, and will continue making it, and in our culture today, whether it is selling books, movie tickets, or merchandise, Harry Potter and Twilight are having a race to see who can make the largest salary.

I don’t think you can say they are completely unrelated , because in many ways they are. It’s not naive to say that these two franchises have brought a renewed interest in reading to a generation, and they have both reinvented classic themes.

i completely agree that they’re nothing alike… harry potter and twilight both are from the fantasy wizard/vampire/werewolf world but the thing is, in hp the wizard world is completely separate from the muggle world that we would be considered to live in. the twilight series though, although it has it’s own little world with the volturi and all that, does a good job of mixing in fantasy with reality so even though we know it isn’t real, it feels like it COULD be. those are just my thoughts……

One thing is for sure… you CAN’T COMPARE Twilight to Harry Potter. They are so different. When it comes to my personal preference though I would much rather read the Twilight saga and side with the Twilighters!!!!!!!!!!!! ☺ Hahhaha

i love both of these series but i dont think they should be compared. Harry potter and Twilight are two different books. So i think theres no competition, between the two books. I like Harry Potter because you can use your imagination and its a whole new world that was created, it has that good vs. evil plot. I like Twilight because just like Judith said it feels more personal. Twilight and Harry potter are on my top book series list.

In general I love both series, I read all the books. It really depends on when something is coming out. When the Twilight movie was coming out I was obsessed with the Twilight franchise, and now that the New Harry Potter movie is coming out I’m more obsessed with Harry Potter, as for what will happen when the movies are over?, I don’t know. I feel like I get more stimulation and mystery more from the HP franchise it challenges your imagination, but the Twilight series feels more personal, like your supposed to be the only person who truly understands that Bella is going through. It’s a toss up for me.
