  2. Michelle Harvey says:

I LOVED these books, so good that I read both of them in 2 days! The characters are really well written and the story keeps you so hooked that you do not want to put books down for anything. Part of what got me hooked was the love story between Janie and Cabel. The story even though it has a supernatural element feels very real and natural. I have a feeling that in Gone there is going to be quite a bit of sadness. Especially considering the somewhat melancoly note that Fade ended on. I have heard that there is a death in Gone and the title of Gone is kidof ominous in itself. I also think that at some point Janie is going to try and push Cabel away now that she has found out what her “gift” is going to cost her, so that he can find happiness with someone normal. Since Gone is the last book I really just hope that we get a good sense of closure in the end, and maybe (fingers crossed) a happy ending too. Sorry for the long comment, I get really long winded when I talk about books I love. Really enjoy the podcast by the way!

  3. Ray says:

i love these books. I absolutely adore Cabel. He is so sweet and just wants to take care of her. I really like Janie too. I love their relationship, it’s just so sweet. I can’t wait for Gone and I hope that there is a happy ending.

  4. Amber says:

I LOVED them! I read them each in a day…I just couldnt’ put them down! Just like the relationship between Bella and Edward, I was drawn to the connection between Janie and Cabel. Thank you SO much for recommending these! I’ve read so many good books based on your recommendations. I agree with Michelle, I think Gone is going to be sad (ala, New Moon) where Janie is going to try and push Cabel away because of her physical deterioration, but I think we’ll still get our happy ending. I think Cabel is madly in love with her and will endure just about anything for them to be together.

  5. Eileen says:

I read both books in two days. I love the story. Cabel is so sweet to Janie. I have a feeling it is going to be a decision making story as to whether Cabel stays or Janie dumps him. There is always drama. I like happy ever after ending. But, I don’t think there is going to be one in Gone.

  6. Viviana says:

I loved these two books, very good read. I think the title to the third book Gone refers to Janie losing her sight, I hope Janie and Cabel stay together in the end.

  7. Valenstar says:

I loved these books, Cabel is so sweet- I love him. I think that in gone, I have a feeling that something might happen to Janie & Cabel will lose her. I don’t want it to happen, but that’s just what i think will occur.

    Love the podcast xx

  8. Linzie Crystal says:

I read only wake cudn’t get my hands on fade hehe sry…wake was alryt its weird that the book doesnt hav anyones purpestive besides the author i guess…imma guess on fade and gone from the titles…well i kinda ready know whats fade about…she’s working with a teacher that i guess has a sort of bad fascination with the students at the school…gone i think will be about another crime that involves jane losing her powers(or what yu call it)(BIG QUESTION MARK)

  9. Sandi says:

Two great stories. Interesting plot and connection between Janie and Cabel. Looking forward to Gone.

I loved these books!!! I could not put them down! Can’t wait for Gone.
Another book recommendation – “The Forest of Hands and Teeth” by Carrie Ryan. Cassandra Clare says of the book, “Intelligent, dark and bewitching, The Forest of Hands and Teeth transitions effortlessly between horror and beauty. Mary’s world is one that readers will not soon forget.” I have not read Clare’s books, but I know y’all have and enjoyed them.
I love your show and can’t wait for y’all to talk about Wake and Fade!

  11. Jessica says:

OMG!!! I loved them! They are on my list of favorite books! I can’t wait for Gone!! When I read Fade I was crying because what Janie went through. I love Cabel he is so hot!!! I love Janie and Cabel together they are like the perfect couple! At first when you recommended them I didn’t know what to expect but once I started reading them I could’t put them down ! I love all you book recommendations they are always great! Love the podcast! Jessi

  12. Laurie M. (TimeStand Still) says:

Great books. Read them very fast, while sneaking time at work. Can’t wait for Gone!.Really wish and hope that Janie does not have a youthful end. Exicited because the TMoms Goodreads group is going to have a chat with Ms. McMann very soon.
My stack of books to read is ever growing. Currently working on Time Traveler’s Wife to beat the movie release.

  13. Jocelyn says:

I loved wake and was soo excited for fade to be released. But when i read it i have to say i was a bit disapointed. I just expected more of a plot… But i am excited to see what happens in Gone because i like Janie and Cabel’s characters

  14. Deejay says:

OmG! I loved these books, I read both books in one day and I can’t wait ’till Gone comes out. I loved Janie and I really loved Cabel, he is sooo sweet. Anyways, as much as I want a happy ending in this book, I am sort of hoping for a sad ending, even though it would break my heart to see their relationship not work out. I think its best. I really love happy endings, but I know this book will be even better is Janie dies. A happy ending would sort of take away from what Janie really is or will become. I don’t know just my thought. Anyways, love the podcasts can’t wait for more!

  15. wendy says:

I LOVED these books!! I can’t wait for Gone. I too read Wake in 2 days and Fade in about 4, wanting to stretch it out a bit. I passed my copy of Wake on to one of my college students working for me. She loved it so much she went out and bought, with the meager salary she earns from me, Fade because she couldn’t wait until the next time she saw me to borrow my copy!!!
I think the premise it pretty fresh. I love reading about the dreams Janie is pulled into. The descriptions in the writing help to pull you along with her. I LOVE Cabel. First of all awesome name. He is such a tortured yet caring soul that you want to love him and find him a therapist all at the same time. Janie is a bit hard on him and unforgiving at times, which frustrates me. And Cabel has communication issues. But seeing the lives that these young people have survived so far you can completely understand why they are the way they are. It also makes them more tangible, more like real people you may know and have in your own lives. I imagine that many readers can relate to them on some levels. Kudos to Lisa McMann for her writing during the party scene. I found it difficult to stomach and down right horrifying while at the same time not being able to stop reading! Over all I enjoyed the content of Wake more than Fade, but I can’t wait to see what happens in Gone!

    Excellent pick Ladies!!

  16. olindaa!! says:

OBVIOUSLY!.. hahaha.. i love them :)..they are super cool!.. i think they have a great story, i never have read a book like this one, of dreams.. there are alot of books of werewolves and vampires scince twilight, i think people just write about that because they think that we (readers) like those things, well we do like them, but they only talk about them, i think autors want to copy stephenie, we need new books that are interesting, with some action, love and things lik that, WAKE AND FADE have it all. You never know what was going to happen next, and the autor (lisa mcmann) make you feel what janie is feeling, when i was reading in Fade the part when she was in the pary and she was druged, i was feeling what she was feeling, like dazzle, my head was like spining, i don’t know why but i stop reading and then take a little time for it to stop, it was really creepy, but it was cool, i never feel that way before in an other book, just in this one. It just happened the first 2 times i read it but the 3 i didn’t feel anything…… I love the characters!.. i love cabel!!!.. he is super awesome!.. and Captain hahah.. sir!

well and for gone!.. i think what is foing to happen is that….. Cabel and Janie are going to college and Janie can’t concentrate in the classes because of the dreams, she is loosing her sight quicklier, she gets in more dreams and Cabel have to be with her all the time. They were going to get out of the college to study somewhere else and Janie goes to a special dream that Captain is interested in, soo they stay in college to find out what is happening, who is the person, why is important the dream for captain and more questions that they need the answers. And one day captain is gone.. one knows where she is, they need to investigate what happen and find her before something wrong happens.

Or something like that.. that is what i think that will happen in Gone, it is just my oppinion :)..
    haha..
    love tst!! :).

  17. Christine May says:

i think the books were really good, i liked fade the best of the two. but the end of fade is so depressing… i feel so bad for janie its like shes doomed to go blind and have gross numb fingers and i think thats horrible and scary. i really hope in gone they somehow find a way to stop the blindness and the numbness or maybe even stop the dream sucking all together so that cabel and her can be happy together forever…and janie not be blind. and i also hope cabel stops being so freaked out everytime janie gets into trouble because that really bothered me. she gets sucked into dreams gosh darnet her life is going to be dangerous and impulsive Cabel get over it! lol
love the show! u two are so funny….even when your like super cheesy i laugh end up laughing because its so not funny that its funny! haha love the podcast!!!

Not your smartest idea to ask this question because now I shall rant!(Oh FUN!) 😀
One word description= AMAZINGLY-UBER-FANTASTIC! (that is one word in my mind)
I love how Janie is just sucked into this like force feild,or whatever you’d like to call it, and It takes so much power/strength do get out of it. I love how in the dreams peoples’ deep dark secrets lurk like monsters. But that’s with dreams of all people. You deep dark secrets(or fears) always squeeze their way into your dreams. Trust me I would know…I’m a :Dreamer. Lisa McMann is such a great writer. I like how the books aren’t like dictionary big and it only takes like 4 hours for me to read one of then. Plus the writing style is very good. I give it a ***** 5 star review!WAKE was good but I like FADE much more. Even though it gives you the fear of evil/rapist science teachers. And I already hate science, which makes the subject much more fun! I’m almost dying to go back to school now and sit through science class again.*Enter gagging here*.
GONE isn’t going to be here soon enough.I’m such a book nerd that I have it marked on my calender already. And it’s like August, right? Haha! I heard so juicy gossip about how Lisa McMann is writing another book….I wonder if it’s true….
I can’t wait! Welllll I think I’ve ranted enough on how big a dork I am so this is the end!
<3`e (Or one of the biggest nerds ever!<3)
P.S. The podcast is flipping amazing!

  19. Erin(: says:

Oh SNAP! I forgot to say what I thought might happen in GONE. Sorry,I have moments like that. Okay I so think someone’s going to die. Either Cabel, Janie, or Captain. And I so think a kidnapper is going to find its way into town and well you know the rest….xP Okay Well now I’m really done sorry again!

  20. Angie says:

I loved these books. The love part was so touching and real to me. And how they connect emotionally first before anything else. The supernatural part of the story is so wicked and cool and bad at the same time. My only problem is these books are too short. I read both in 2 days and waiting is killing me. I’m really slow sometimes and still don’t get how the titles represent the books….or the pics.
I don’t know what’s gonna happen in Gone but I hope it’ll be just as awesome.

  21. Lily says:

I haven’t read them yet but I can’t wait to!!!!!! i gotta go to the store to get them like ASAP!!!!!!!!

  22. Kimber says:

I stumbled upon you guys’ podcast 2 months ago and got HOOKED! I’m not great at picking out things to read, but I love to read, and I was listening to how quickly you got into Wake and Fade and decided to go buy the first book. Loved it. Bought Fade. Loved that too. I read them both in 2 days and am very impatient for Gone. They were way faster than Twilight so I don’t feel like I got my full fix of Janie and Cabel <3 (like I did with Bella and Edward) since it was only 400 or so pages.
As for Gone, on Lisa McMann’s website she makes it seem like Janie is going to leave Cabel, so I assume it’ll have a sad feel to it. But I’m hoping for a happy ending.
Thanks for the recommendation! I think I’m going to try the Mortal Instruments next 🙂

    PS Podcast is freaking fabulous.

  23. Hannahg says:

The books were fantastic and i was as glued to them as i was to the twilight books. They’re like nothing ive ever read before and they’re such a quick read. I love the dream narrative sections and the dates and times were an excellent way to keep you from getting too confused.

Fade was the best, as the characters had evolved and the storyline was really exciting. It kept me reading! Cant wait for Gone! Have finished the first mortal instruments book and am now reading Shiver!

You guys have really good book recomendations! Love the podcast!

  24. Chris says:

My daughter read these books and told me that I should read them; I loved them! I got so involved in the stories I couldn’t put them down and read both within two days (one on the airplane on my way to Forks!!!). I can’t wait until Gone comes out, I hope Janie and Cabel end up living a happy life together since their lives upto this point have been so hard.

    Love you guys!

  25. Twilight in Kuna says:

I’ve browsed through these responses and also reviews on Facebook for Wake and Fade, and I don’t think more than a handful have said anything about the language. It was so distracting!!! Made me wonder if the author didn’t have a thesaurus to find other words to use besides f***!

  26. Kiwi says:

Iposted this over on the book of the month thread and then realised most people were posting here.

I have to say that I loved reading Wake, it wasn’t on the top of my must reads but I enjoyed it. I will read Fade when it gets released here in NZ. I like the character development between Janie and Cabel and at times you get really frustrated with them for being so pig headed. I did think the whole idea of being in other peoples dreams a bit weird but I did enjoy seeing other people through their dreams be so different from their outside personna. One thing I will comment on as an older reader of YA fiction is that it was a very easy read, the diary format and short sentences were a little disjointed but it did get better as the book went on.

Kayla – I to loved Evernight and Stargazer, would recommend them to any twilight reader.

The one book I am spouting to everyone at the moment is Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, it is an amazing, beautiful book and the love story is overwhelming. Think Jacob and a story about the wolf pack but different. If that makes sense.

  27. Sandy from Canada says:

    OMG!
    I LOVED these books.
if you go to http://www.simonandschuster.com/admin_assets/1257_Cabel_s_Story_Final.pdf you can read cabel’s side of the story.
he is so sweet in it.
    I EART WAKE & FADE!

  28. danielle says:

i loved wake and fade! they were both terrific! in gone i hope to see janie and cabel working with the police force again! it was really intense and i hope that they can find something to help janie’s vision because that really puts a damper on the story, its just overwhelming sad for me! but i love cabel for how he truly cares about her.

  29. Mrs Em Taylor Lautner says:

Hey girlies! I was listening to one of your podcasts and your were talkin’ about your next books of the month. Now to be honest, besides The Host, I’ve never really read any of the previous books of the month, but the Kassie sounded REALLY interested in Wake and Fade. So I went out with my mom to the bookstore to buy them. When I got there I decided on just getting the first one just in case I wasn’t into them. I also got The Hunger Games and I was going to get City of Bones, but they didn’t have it in paperback so I’ll have to get that one later. BUT OMGEE! So I started fade and 3 and a half gasping, laughing, and Oh My Gosh-ing hours later I FINISHED! Soooooooo good! You guys picked THE AWSOMEST books of the month! I’m sooo going out and getting me some Fade J I kidd u not this book had me from the beginning! I can’t wait for you to interview Lisa McMann so she can maybe answer some of my questions! Like one is do you think that all of the chapter titles put together say something?? I tried to put them together myself and it seems possible. Well gotta run. Like every other Twilighter out there thinks, Amazing Podcast you girls rule! Thanks for reading my email.
    LuvLuv,
    Em Sauer(sour)
    Team Taylor/Edward!!

OH! p.s. I thought that it was awsome that Cassandra Clare reviewed wake!

  30. mary rooksie says:

    Hey GIRLIES,
I LOVE THESE BOOKS, i love Janie’s character, and i think it would be soooo awesome to be able to get sucked into peoples dreams, because im a dreamer haha, i love Cabel, and i love his name!, i really enjoyed the book more then i thought, i didnt think it would have like a crime factor involved which i though was really awesome!, you dont read much crime in top seller teenage books these days which sucks, i also love your books of the months, i feel inlove with the hunger games and cant wait til the second one comes out im serioously counting down the days, and I LOVE THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS SERIES, great choices ladies! im hanging out to the book of the month next month! rocking the podcast, ITS AWESOME!
    love Mary Rooksie

  31. Luna Eclipse says:

    OMG I LOVED THEM!!!
I think that Gone will end happily…
Like Janie will find a way to help people in her dreams and not go all blind and stuff.
I think this because it is a great story, and most of the great (fictional) stories that I’ve read had happy endings.
But I’m not saying that’s how I want it to end,
Because it would be far more realistic if it ended sadly…

  32. Lily says:

started reading Wake last night. really good so far!

  33. Sammi Knight says:

I picked up Wake and Fade after reading about them on your site. They were exciting and addiciting with an interesting premise. Once I started I couldn’t put them down! I quickly passed them along to my other friends, many of whom I gave my old Twilight books too a little over a year ago, and they also fell in love. Thanks to you girls Lisa McMann has a few new fans from NJ! We are all truely looking foward to Gone, and of praying that at the very least, Janie and Cabel will stay together.

I’ve been an avid fan of your site for a year and a few months and you never seem to disappoint. Keep up the great work!!!

Much love from the east coast <3

  34. Brandi says:

I would have to say that I wasn’t that impressed by Wake, I am still undecided as to if I will read Fade or not. It was an ok read. I would parobably like it a lot better if I had read it before Twilight…. since The Twilight Series, I can’t find to many books that I could put in the outstanding catagory… Still yet I did read it and it did keep my attention enough to read all of it. but I wouldn’t say it was great. Sorry… Just to mention I did read another pretty ok book I thought I might tell you about, its ‘Need’, the auther’s name escapes me but I found it at Wal-Mart. Also I am in the middle of reading ‘Wings’ which SM had suggested. And again I wouldn’t say it is great. but I will be able to finish it!!

  35. Nicole says:

    Best. Books. Ever.

  36. Peri says:

ummm im sorry kassie and kallie, but i didnt read them…IM SORRY!
i still love you guys 🙂
    hahah

  37. Jessie says:

The books were awesome. The writting style threw me off at first but once you get into the story I liked the way it was written. I think ig gone is the last one then for there to be closure Janie will either have to lose her power to go into dreams or really learn how to use them really well finally. I think in this one it will be Cabel that needs to be saved and only Janie can do it. I cant wait for the book to come out!

    Love the podcast!
