I’m seeing it Saturday!!! I’m so excited!

  2. Kayla says:

Going to see Eclipse at Midnight here in Sydney. Taking my cousins as their Birthday is the 2nd of July.

  3. Bella Cullen says:

I saw the movie at 5 today and it was total pandomium. We had to get there at 2 and stand in 115 weather. We were lucky to get tickets that early cause the theater also had 10 different lines outside for the midnight showing. This Harkins had sold out 40 separate showings just today already. This movie is going to make triple that new moon did. It was so freakin perfect.
I did miss some scene and sayings though especially when Edward says to Jake go fetch a space heater.

  4. Nellie says:

Hey Bella Cullen..sounds like we mighta been at the same showing! In Gilbert?

  5. Helena says:

I am so happy, I get to watch it for my birthday with my best friend!!!!!

  6. Bella Cullen says:

YA NELLIE WASN’T THAT SO FUN WALKING PAST ALL THE POOR PEOPLE IN 115 DEGREE WEATHER IN LINE. I LOVE DOIN THAT EVERY YEAR. I LOVE THE CROWDS AND ALL THE COMMOTION.

  7. Becca says:

I went and saw Eclipse in IMAX at midnight.Eclipse is the best movie in the saga so far! My favorite parts were Jasper’s backgroud (Jackson did an amazing job at showing the deep emotions he went through when being second in command in a vampire army and how much Alice means to him), the Tent scene (Rob and Taylor were great), and Bella’s speech at the end about not feeling as though she belongs in the “normal” world (that was my favorite Bella moment in all the movies. Kristen did a wonderful job).

  8. Abbyyyyy! says:

Okay so I just got back from the midnight, accually 11:59pm showing. I went with my sister who did not read the books, but really likes the movies.

    Some interesting stories:
-we got bored in theater one, so some brilliantly fantastic person brought beach balls and we threw them all over the theater while we waited and waited for 2.5 hours. Then some chump theater worker ended it.

    – we had a Team Edward vs. Team Jacob scream off. Naturally, Edwards won (:

my view of the movie… Weeeeelll. Before I start I must say that neither of the first two movies were that great, they both disappointed me, a superfan (read each book 8+ times), so my expectations for Eclipse weren’t that high. I can honestly say, now that the ‘after seeing a new movie high’ has worn off, that this was heads and tails above the other two movies. They are not comparable. Eclipse was very funny, in a non cheezy way, romantic, in a sweet, subtle, passionate way and action packed, in a realistic way ( well as realstic as it gets with camps and wolves…). I was SHOCKED at how close it was to the book. I mean VERY close. A lot of the lines were the same as the book, the scenes, the opening and closing scenes. There were no parts that were cut outt that I was too upset about. My favorite parts were the proposal, the line ‘i’m hotter than you’, the ‘tslk’ with Charlie and naked Taylor Lautner…(: Even though I had no part in this masterpiece, yes master piece, I am proud of it, like it’s my child, because I feel like it has come full circle from being this little Indie film that got bashed my critics, to this beautiful love story.

  9. Abbyyyyy! says:

Oh! Another favorite part was Jessicas speech at graduation!!

And a part I am kind of upset that was left out was the line Edward says when he gives bella the diamond heart for her charm bracelet about it being hard, cold and throwing rainbows in the light.

  10. Wendy says:

Saw the show tonight at a midnight screening with a friend who had never seen “Twilight” or “New Moon”, nor read the books. Gave her a very quick summary, and she was set.

The entire movie theatre was pretty full, yet the crowd seemed more subdued than they had at “New Moon”. Even during the film itself there was less squealing or gasping…..although we did seem to be in a mostly “Team Jacob” theatre, as the Bella/Jacob kiss was met with thunderous applause and most of Jacob’s lines got the biggest reactions.

Overall, I enjoyed the film. I was happy we got to see a more normal, less tortured, manic depressive Edward this time. One of the things I loved in the books is Bella and Edward’s somewhat “snarky” way of talking to each other, and I think we FINALLY got that in this movie. And hooray for the lines all being delivered in a normal speaking cadence rather than with long, awkward pauses between them.

However, I was less than thrilled with the opening scene and think it could be extremely confusing for someone who hadn’t read the books, but I guess it was necessary to establish the character of Riley. (Although, I wondered why they bothered to make his be from Forks. I mean, wouldn’t Bella and Charlie and the Cullens have known him if he was from Forks, since it’s such a small town?) Personally, I preferred the beginning of “New Moon”, but that’s just me…. 😉

  11. Amy Kathryn says:

By far the best of the three!! The story followed the book very well, I’d say much more than the other two films. I have to agree with the majority of the comments made. There was a good bit of wit minus the awkward cheesiness. Sooo happy Wendy stated this…. “And hooray for the lines all being delivered in a normal speaking cadence rather than with long, awkward pauses between them.” very very very happy someone else noticed that too. I can’t tell you how annoyed I was by that in the first two films. Bravo and cudos David Slade…. Bill Condon has some mighty big shoes to fill come Breaking Dawn!

Definite two thumbs up… I’ll be watching it again this weekend!

  12. Mary says:

Normally, I would see the midnight showing, however this time my husband is going with me, so we are going to Jun 30th evening show…..excited that he’s going with me, not just the “girls”…..trying not to read any of the reviews above…I want to be surprised.

  13. Megan says:

Best one out of the three, but the last two will top them all!!

  14. Arianne Buck says:

I saw a pre showing of it at 8:30 last night! It was so good! And at the pre showings each person gets raffle ticket and you write your name on it and they do the drawing and you get a cool eclipse prize! And me and sister both won!!! But we got called at the end so there wasn’t anything good left so I got an Eclipse calander and my sister got a picture of Edward Jacob and Bella in a cool frame! I loved the movie but I wish I didn’t reread the book before I saw it cuz the whole time it was bugging me sooo bad cuz cut so much out. But I loved Taylor’s sexy mustache and the tent scene was awesome and the proposal scene was sooo cute!!!! Loved it!!!!

  15. Kelly Smith says:

    HEY!!!
I saw the midnight premiere here in Washington. We wait outside for 7 hours and got some good seats….

Where do I start? I’m not one of those crazy ones that scream at everything, but I’m a fan. I love to read it over and over and watch them, talk about it and read stuff… but no craziness! Eclipse is one of my favorite books. (exception of BD:)) The one MAJOR thing I have to lay out and get off my chest is that damn WIG! Seriously?! Whoever was in charge of that should be fired! I understand that Kristens’ hair wasn’t the length of Bella but couldn’t they do extensions? Seriously… I couldn’t help but stare at it and let it bother me. It just did suite her I thought. Her hair was better in New Moon I.M.O. My next thing is why did they start off with Riely… I think they should of started it with Edward and Bella in the meadow when he kept asking her to marry him… (cause isn’t that the way they ended new moon?!?!?) Then slowly develop the story of Riely… (plus HE WAS NOT FROM FORKS!) I also thought the first 20+ mins was very raw… maybe even not finished… I’ll have to def watch it again but there was barely any music to make it feel like it was official or something… I thought, but I could be wrong cause the transitions from scene to scene was well there wasn’t… it was just like bam bam bam… for someone that hadn’t read the books probably would of been confusing… I’m not trying to come off with complaining about it cause it was AMAZING! I’ll def go see it again and again and own it… I just was a little bothered by a few things! It def has its funny moments – in a non-cheesy way, romantic, sweet/passionate way and has its action. The proposal was awesome! Romantic! Sweet! There was another part that I was thinking that should of been more of the book was the whole bracelet thing with Edward and Bella… I think they shouldn’t of just had him putting it on her like that…So forward…They should of had it like the book where Edward ASKED Bella if he could have some type of ‘representation’… Like where he was talking about ‘hand-me-downs’… that would of been a sweet moment. The famous tent scene was quite good.. I could see why they all liked that:) David Slade did a great job, and everyone involved (besides the person who was in charge of Kristens wig… seriously…) One thing that made me really think after seeing it and I’m surprised that I didn’t realize this maybe cause I dont care about Victoria (the character) but I asked my group of people, but how come Victoria didn’t tell Riely to tell the new borns about the wolves… I mean you would think them knowing it would of helped her out to get Bella? Dont you think? I know the scene where she comes while Edward and Bella are in Florida and she sees Emmett and Sam (right? I’ve gotten barely any sleep…) run into each other while they were chasing her and it seemed to of come off they were going to kill each other… but why didn’t she? haha something to think about… Also the part where Bella goes to see Jacob after he has gotten hurt… (even though she wasn’t there when he did… but in the movie she was…) I love how his whole face is all sweaty EXCEPT his nose… haha thought that was funny too. I’m sure Ill see more next time. I want to say that they kept a lot from the book, but had a few moments that weren’t, the lines and what they said were on the dot! I love it! I cant wait to see it again and for them to start BD. 🙂

    • Kelly Smith says:

I correct my self… it was Paul no Sam with Emmett 🙂

    • Jess says:

@Kelly Smith Let me start off by saying I loved Eclipse but I didn’t have a problem with Bella’s wig. I actually thought it looked OK but that’s just me. The one thing that bugged me was that Alice’s hair should’ve been more like the first movie. Crazy pointing in all directions like in the book.

@Jana YES, I feel the same way & I did not read the book for the same reason as you. It worked and I loved the acting this time around. It seems the cast were a lot more comfortable with each other in this one.

@Abby You gave me the goosebumps reading your description of the proposal scene. I really liked how they did it. I know it’s not the same as the book but it worked with the movie.

  17. Angela Herrman says:

I agree a ton with Kelly Smith.

Jeers: The beginning was way to fast. It was all a blur.
Bella’s hair was horrible. I mean how much do they pay Kristen? She couldn’t keep her own hair?
I expected for Seattle, the newborns and Bree to have a bigger roles, especially because the readers know them so well now.

Cheers: Word for Word lines from the book! Completely awesome!- “Can you please stop trying to undress yourself” “Why you want to do that part?” “Not tonight!”
It also had every scene I wanted… Florida, Bella breaking her hand, the flashbacks for Rose and Jasper and of course Bella trying to seduce a vampire.
Rose looks way times better. She looked fake before, not at all beautiful like the book describes. Now, she”s georgous!!

I have only seen Eclipse once and the others like a hundred times, but I didn’t notice anything wrong in this one.
Twilight- When Edward and Bella are driving from Port Angeles, Edward asks why his father is at the police station. Shouldn’t he have already known? Bella already knew that he could read minds, so why keep up pretenses?
New Moon- Edward looked like he was in pain when he was kissing Bella in Italy. Didnt he already live 24 hrs thinking she was dead, so wouldn’t not be painful anymore.
Eclipse- I didn’t notice a single hiccup- DID YOU?!?

  18. Verónica says:

Ok I just wanna say thing, since everything I wanted to say has been said already by the fellow comenters:D this is the only one in the saga that didn’t disappoint me. I mean, it’s lyk they used the book as their script! (ok not so much, but yeah LOL) Obviously there were very few things left out and new things added, but it really doesn’t matter, because the movie was very well put together. Thanks very much to David Slade for giving us an awesome movie, and thanks to the actors as well, for portraying their characters extremely good! 😀

ECLIPSE IS THE BEST ONE YET!!!!!

Team Edward til the end! 😀

  19. Verónica says:

P.S. The “talk” with Charlie was super hilarious!! LOL XD

  20. TrendHater73 says:

Eclipse is my favorite book in the series, because the end battle is about as epic as this saga gets. However, let me be the first here to say that I didn’t like the movie. My problem was not because things were left out. It just bored me to tears, literally. I kept yawning and my eyes would water. This happened so often that the skin below my eyes has been rubbed raw.

The very SHORT battle was the high point for me. I liked seeing the wolfpack in acton, along side the Cullens. It looked exactly how I pictured it in my head whil reading. All the hype about Bree, left me wondering why she matters at all. In all honesty, I loathed the novella about her and am thinking Riley’s story would have been more interesting to read.

The music, what little of it you actually notice, was good. I thought Jasper’s backstory was visually stunning, as was the rest of the movie. I liked that the director used different film stock for different scenes. Now, to add to all of the negative, this movie reminded me of why I hate Bella. Kissing Jacob and then crawling back to Edward makes my skin crawl everytime I think about it. It made me throw my book across the room the first time I read it and made me angry the times I re-read it. Seeing it on screen, made me feel the same anger. Chances are, I probably won’t be going to see “Breaking Dawn” because I didn’t like that book.

I’m sure, that if anyone reads this, I will be absolutely torn apart and ridiculed for this. Unfortunately, this is just how I feel. Its great that so many of you loved it and I wish I could too. Maybe all of the obsessive media buzz around it and constant bombardment has finally caused me to lose my interest 🙁

  21. Bella Cullen says:

K I WAS MAD ABOUT A FEW THINGS THAT WERE MISSING…………………1ST THEY CUT OUT EDWARD SAYING TO JAKE TO GO FETCH A SPACE HEATER, AND THEN THE SCENE THE NEXT MORNING IN THE TENT WHEN JAKE ROLLS ONTO BELLA AND EDWARD PUSHES HIM OFF AND THEY FIGHT ABOUT IT. ALSO EDWARD SHREDING OUT OF THE TENT WHEN HE HEARS THAT VICTORIA IS COMING. THEN THEY LEFT OUT THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN ALICE AND BELLA AND THE WHOLE SLUMBER PARTY. I MEAN COME ON EDWARD WAS OUT HUNTING AND THEN COMES HOME TO SHOW BELLA THE USES OF HIS BED. THE MOVIE LOOKED LIKE THEY HAD PLANNED IT ALL ALONG TO BE ALONE IN HIS BED. I LOVE THESE MOVIES BUT I GUESS I AM SUCH A FANATIC ABOUT EVERY SINGLE SCENE IN THE BOOKS THAT I HATE TO HAVE ANY LINES MISSING IN THE MOVIES. ALSO THE LAST BIG THING THAT WAS MISSING WAS THE SCENE AFTER BELLA KISSES JAKE AND SEES HER FUTURE WITH HIM AND HER CHILDREN. I MEAN COME ON WITH THIS OUT IT DOESN’T LEAD UP TO BREAKIN DAWN AND HER REASON FOR KEEPING HER BABY. WELL I GUESS IT WASN’T TOO MANY THINGS LEFT OUT THIS TIME. I’M SEEING IT AGAIN TONIGHT AND ILL SEE WHAT ELSE I NOTICE THAT IS MISSING. I DID TOTALLY LOVE IT THOUGH.

  22. Jana says:

IMO Eclipse is the best movie so far. I disliked Twilight to an unbelievable extent and thought New Moon was okay. I purposely did not re-read Eclipse recently because I wanted to be able to get into the movie. It worked. I really loved the interaction and dynamic between Bella and Edward. For the first time throughout the movies, I feel like they got it right. Loved the score, it was simple and not too “in your face”. I don’t feel like anything important to the story line was left out and nothing out of character was added in. The acting is WAY better in this one! Loved it, loved it, loved it! It was the first movie of the three that drew me in to the world Stephenie Meyer created. The other two (for me) just scratched at the surface. 🙂

    • Jana says:

Sorry, there was one part that i can’t imagine would have happened. I don’t think Bella would have left Edwards side to go with Jacob on the bike. Other than that though, I loved it, loved it, loved it!

  23. Angela Herrman says:

    A changed that I loved…
When the vamps body parts are ripped off they crystalize like ice and don’t turn to ash.

  24. Abby!!! says:

Okay, I thought of something that I thought was….i dont have a word for it…uh funny?
My whole theater was laughing when Victoria’s head was torn off by Edward because it just looked like a broken ice cube. I mean I know they are basically made of stone, but this took that to a strange degree…idk. it was awkward.

I LOVED THE WAY EDWARD PROPOSED! Yes, it was different from the book. In the book, we all know that Edward and Bella were just having a conversation and she agreed to marry him, but in the movie she was still saying no until the moment he got on his knee. He told her that if they were back in his time, he would have courted her, they would have taken walks in the park, and after getting her fathers permission, kiss her sweetly and then (cue Edward getting on one knee) I’d get on one knee and say….

    ah. I loved it.

  25. Josiah says:

Where to begin? Decisions, decisions. 🙂
I’ll start off with this: Best movie of the series by far. To start with a plus, the wig didn’t bother me as much as I’d thought it would! One big, major thing that bothers me, though I wish it wouldn’t, is the scene changes. The girls behind us in the theater were all, “Oh, no not again!” When Bella begins the movie with narration. HAHA! David Slade is awesome (though not as experienced as I had always thought), but every scene change makes the movie feel like it’s just racing to get to the end. For instance, in one scene we’re in Forks, then we’re in Florida. Others are similar; then back in Forks, then in the reservation, then at graduation, then at the Cullens’ but wait! Let’s go back to Bella’s house. I loved the movie, but I really wished Slade had transitioned from one scene to another better. During the movie I was literally thinking “Where is the part where Alice talks about a sleepover?” And when it finally comes, I was disappointed. I liked how she kept Bella prisoner, but we never got that feeling in the movie. I must give the movie props for “the bed scene”. NOT because of the make-out scene which, in my opinion, steals Twilight’s title of having the steamiest kiss, but rather how Edward proposed, and Bella’s reaction. In the book, Edward says something along the lines of “I know you’re reluctant about marriage, but would you at least like to see the ring?” Bella replies with yet another reluctant “Fine”, then she reluctantly accepts it. In the movie she’s almost excited about it. I thought that would bother me but I liked it; it made it a better, more emotional scene in the movie. During the tent scene, when we first see it and there’s not a snowflake on the ground, I got nervous. Where’s the snow? But then of course, movie magic, a frickin’ tsunami of snow comes during the night. Next MORNING, however, Bella walks out, perfectly unharmed by the effects of the cold, and with Seth there in wolf form, it looks like a freaky scene out of Alice In Wonderland. I loved Bryce Dallas Howard, and I loved how Edward kills her (everyone in my theater cheered), but he should’ve been more careful, as vampires can reassemble themselves. I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED WITH BREE’S SCENE! She’s in Eclipse for less than a chapter. The least they could do is follow it exactly. They were in the field, all standing. In the book, she’s in the fetal position under a tree. There was a tree near them in the movie, but NO she was standing. She was supposed to be teased by Bella’s scent, but the only screams we hear are of her pain. I don’t know, just disappointed. Going back some, I loved Rosalie’s story. I loved the part where it just shows her walk into Royce’s room in the gown, then she chuckles and says “I was somewhat dramatic back then” or something. So funny! They even made the most boring chapter in the book, the part where Bella listens to the wolves’ history, interesting, and fun to watch. Sorry for this being so long BUT ECLIPSE IS THE BEST MOVIE SO FAR! (Can’t wait to see breaking dawn)!

    • Sporkfairy says:

Josiah – I couldn’t agree with you more about Bree. What a disappointment over that part! They wasted an opportunity to show the danger of the newborn to Bella and how the Cullens were protecting Bella even from one who had surrendured. Bree was just standing next to Jasper, not 6 feet from Bella. I was looking forward to Bree on the ground near the newborn bonfire, digging her hands strongly into the ground to try to keep from going at Bella. There wasn’t even as much on her as the original Eclipse book, much less insight from the novella. Bummer.

Loved the Jasper backstory, though. They did a decent job on that.

  26. DallasNewBorn says:

PRE-MOVIE: I went with husband (who has never read the books) and sister (who was the one who made me read them) to see Eclipse at midnight at ParksMall in Arlington.TX. I had told my hubby he was going to be the only male at the theater and told my sis that we were going to be the only 30 years old there, but NOT!!! SURPRISE a lot of MEN and “older” citizens like us too LOL! As they let us inside the theater 2 hours earlier, out of total boredom, someone started making flash shadows with hands on the big screen (you know, making them using the camera flashes) Idiotic!!! I thought… at the beginning but soon I started making forms myself “E for Edward” “J for…” and when someone made a vampire shadow with two hands the whole theater was laughing so hard. It was some kind of mass-insanity, but I laughed with tears and that was craaaazy fuuuun!
BEST MOMENT OF THE NIGHT: Meeting TST Kallie and Kassie!! you guys rock. You are celebs in my household, hehehe. Thanks for letting me meet you and take pics. My husband was all embarrased like “they are going to think you are obsessed about this” and I went “yeees I am,…seriously man, you just noticed?” Guys Please do a meetup or something with fans of the website!! that’d be really cool.
THE MOVIE: I did not, in purpose, re-read the book, watch any trailer at all, or previews or anything, I wanted to live it all AT the movie. It worked beautifully I mostly loved it
THINGS I LIKE: The movie script finally really really used the book, not loosely like before. It makes me nuts that they didn’t do that for the other two. However the pop cultured comedy bits added were good like, Jacob talking about werewolf body temperature “Edward when are you going yo get it, Im hotter than you” my theater exploded in laugh, or Edward wondering whether J owned a t-shirt at all, hilarious and clever.
I loved the actor that portrayed Riley and I did like the starting scene with him (It seems Im alone on that one). Emmet enjoying himself during training with Jasper. Emmet facing Paul like, “come on dog fight me!”, Alice kissing Jasper (they should do that more often, in both the movie and the book) Rosalie saying “I was very theatrical then” I Loved how much better Nikki Red was this time around, she lost tons of weight BTW? She had chubby legs in the first movie (I have them too, but hey! I’m not the most perfect vampire in the world like Rose is supposed to be) I like Esme and Carlslile defending Bree together.
Catalina Sandino as Maria the vampire. My sister and I were like SHUT UP!!! Is that her??? Yes she iiis!! Catalina is Colombian (like yours truly) and is kind of a big celebrity in our country. And we did not know she had taken on that role, but we were like A COLOMBIAN changed Jasper???!!That is Sooo Cooool!!!
I DID NOT LIKE: The bed scene and subsequent proposal. OK romantic yes whatever, but it could have gone so much slower with MUSIC and more intensity I don’t know. Maybe in the 2d or 3rd watching I’ll get it. I did not like the kiss with Jacob for the same reasons. They should have gotten even closer, with more passion. I always imagined Jacob shivering with happiness, finally man!!! She is kissing you!! but that did not reflect on the screen. Maybe it’s just me. I have a problem with Kristen Stewart. She is a cool person and good actress whatever but why that unchanged, flat intonation?? It KILLS me!! Bella can say “The Volturi are coming to kill me” , “I’m going to the store to buy milk” or “Edward please do it to me, in this bed, now” in the same low, flat, unexcited voice tone, it never changes…. Aaaahhhgg
There are more things but this comment is getting looong and boring for all of you. I love you fellow twi-hards.

  27. Erlinda says:

TEAM JACOB ALL THE WAY!!! EVEN MY GUY FRIEND SEYS SO LOL … can wait!!!! hehe the stills were awesome and the trailer and i wannna see it in IMAX !!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Marisa says:

Craaaaaaaaaaap! After reading all the comments, I can no longer see the movie. Thanks a heap, guys. No, I’m just joshin’. I’ll see it next week or the week after. Man, I’m just a bad Twilight fan. I saw “Toy Story 3” last night instead. It was very good, by the way. I just prefer to be in a theater without screaming girls. Therefore, I did not see “Eclipse.” Last year was awful. I seriously wanted to punch the loud girls right next to me for being so damn loud. I can’t tolerate it. So I find it’s best to just wait a week or two for me to see the movie.

  29. Kim says:

I have to say that I was actually disappointed when I saw the movie. I feel that the movie was rushed, the transitions from scene to scene was somewhat choppy, and that the converstations amongst the charactors were totally strange and different from the way they are said in the book. I think that the movie did a decent job of portraying Jasper’s and Rosalie’s stories as well as the tent scene, however, the morning after they camped was completely screwed up. I thought it was stupid the way they had Edward initiate the “ten best nights” scene. It is actually a really funny moment in the book when Jacob says to Edward, “I said it wasn’t the best nights sleep I ever had, not that it wasn’t the best night of my life.” and then Edward replies, “Well, If I had been in your place last night it wouldn’t have made the ten BEST nights of my life, dream about that!” or something along those lines. This is what sparks Bella’s curiousity which leads her to ask Edward, when she thinks Jacob is gone, what his ten best nights were. Also, Jacob was in his wolf form when he heard, not human. I also felt that it just made Bella look like a complete B*tch when she asks Jacob to kiss her, because they left out the part where he says to her, “You could ask me.” In the book Bella is manipulated by Jacob into kissing him, it is not until after the kiss begins that she realizes that she is in love with Jacob. In the movie when Jacob goes to leave and says maybe he’ll allow himself to be killed, Bella askes him to kiss her. The way the movie did this scene did not make sense and I felt it would have been better if they stuck to the original way it was written. I think I need to see the movie again, maybe I will like it better the second time, but for the first time I watched it I was not impressed. I understand that movies cannot be the same as the book, but overall I feel they would have been better off with less scenes and more detailed conversations within those scenes. I feel the charactors personalities and development were completely lost in the third movie because it was so rushed to try to fit everything. It’s a good thing they are making the 4th book into 2 movies!!

    • Cristina N. says:

I agree with Kim. I saw the movie last night and I was totally disappointed.

Eclipse is my favorite book and I read it many times and I know it is impossible to cover all the book in the movie, but I think some very important parts are missing, the beginning of the movie was confused, ” the scenes and the conversations were totally choppy”.
The movement in Eclipse is different from the others and most of the dialogs were lost, disconnected.

The action scenes were very good and I liked ” the proposal”, ” the conversation” with Charlie, and the newborns in Seattle: that’s what David Slade can do better, But the LOVE…. I was like: ” Where is the LOVE????”. It was there, but with no emotion, no intensity, no passion, kind of “flat” ! I didn’t like the love scenes because of the way they were filmed: the takes, the angles, the dialogs. Not even by the performance of the actors. I think David Slade could not take out the best of them in the love scenes.

The kiss between Jacob and Bella was “fast”, without emotion and without her vision of their future together…. In the book he is so sweet, they kiss many times: They kiss, they stop and he goes: “Bella you can do better than this” . Which means she is hesitating… she is confused ! They kiss again and then she finally give up and let herself feel what she feels, and there’s the last brief sweet kiss, where she does not want to let him go, because she realizes she loves him too. It is the most important part of the book when she finally knows what she feels for Jake. I liked most their “almost kiss” in New Moon, much more passionate, they hesitated, look each each in the eye,( I felt butterflies in my stomach!) In Eclipse I was like: “This is it ????”

The tent scene…well in the book Edward is very irritated with Jake and with himself because he cannot give Bella the heat she needs, but in the movie Robert is not, he is nervous at first and then relaxed, calm and almost smiling… ( They said in many interviews that it was difficult to make this scene because all three were laughing, they had to return to Canada to film it again, and I could see why ). I didn’t like it, I wanted to see that tension between them, and the love both of them share for Bella.

I also did not like Kristen’s acting in this movie, she had the same face all the movie, like a mask ! And as someone said I could not see either ” that” chemistry between Edward and Bella. Rob was “less” Edward, he was not that “tormented soul” with the amazing “tormented faces” of desire and thoughts. Taylor was good, but I also missed the way he looked into Bella’s eyes in New Moon, looking for something. In the book they are always talking and laughing and I pictured it like Jake giving Bella that look and she always trying to avoid his eyes, afraid of finding something. In the book they were always at the beach, there are no conversations at the beach in the movie … Well they almost have no conversations, just some brief moments which do not cover their situation at all.

I know many people loved the movie, but I expected Eclipse to be better than the others because they had a big budget make the movie, the actors should be more into the characters and the story, and the acting should be better now they are more experienced. After all I keep loving the book, it is my favorite ! 🙂
      Team Jacob!

I agree with Kim 100%!! She took the words right out of my mouth!

I thought some of the scenes & conversations were ‘choppy’. Couple of minor things that bothered me were the attention to details they seemed to miss out on. When Edward & Bella were laying in her bed, the camera pulls out and shows their reflection in the mirror…Edward does not have a reflection…hello?! One minute Edward is ‘sparkling’ and the next he’s not….no consistency. Minor, I know, but bothersome non-the-less.

Given the success of the movies and the books, I feel they could have done a better job with the makeup and effects. The makeup was still quite ‘thick & white’ for the Cullens. Their eyebrows were so dark with makeup it looked poorly in my opinion.

I also agree with Abyyyyy! & Kelly Smith about leaving out the reason for the heart bracelet that Edward gave Bella. The scene portrayed him just as a jealous boyfriend. The explanation would have been great.

I enjoyed Jasper’s and Rosalie’s stories about their past. However, the close up of Rosalie, she looked so “fake” to me; with the makeup and wig lines. Given the talent in the show…I feel the makeup could have been so much better!

Kristen was ‘kinda flat’ in this movie to me. Not enough emotion for being torn between two hot guys; not to mention the Volturi are coming & Victoria is out to kill her!!

Jacob didn’t show enough emotion when he kissed Bella and in the scene where she demanded him to kiss her before the fight. Where was the excitement and passion there?

I LOVED: the “talk” with Charlie, Jasper’s Texan accent & calling Alice ma’am (funny how he didn’t have the accent in the previous movies), Edward’s proposal to Bella & Alice in general. I just love her character!

I know you can only put so much into a movie given script and time line restraints. However, I believe they should have made the movie a bit longer to fit in some of the important scenes from the book that made it the sensation that it is.

I have read all the books and read them again before the movie releases. I have friends who haven’t read a single one. Upon the ending of each show, they have so many questions. I tell them the same thing, the books answer all your questions. But….that depends on the viewer and the fan. While I love the books, I love the movies too. I’m a fan through and through.
I will definitely watch Breaking Dawn. I hope they do it justice. There’s a lot of information to put into the story line of the movie.

Eclipse is still a great show!! Just wanted to state my ‘views’ on the movie as these ‘little’ details makes the story.

    Team Jacob!! 😀

I agree with you Mae, I noticed that Jasper’s accent too lol, he never had that before this movie. I do think it would have been a good idea for him to have an accent from the beggining, but bringing it into the third movie was inconsistent and just added to the list of things they could have done better. I also thought Kristen’s acting was kind of flat in this movie. She seemed to have done a much better job in the first two movies.

Come on people!!! The movie will not be just like the book- word for word!! Seems like you are just looking for things …The movie was EXCELLENT just enjoy it!!! It had alot more than what I thought it would have and I absolutely loved it!!! David did a awesome job!! My favorite book and now my favorite movie!!!

When I walked out of the theatre, I thought “Now THAT was Eclipse”! They finally got it right. Makes me mad looking back on “Twilight”, all the missed possiblities. Anyway, this is like a 1995 Pride and Prejudice moment, where we got the book on film, and not an incomplete adaptation. David Slade nailed it.

I only had a few minor nit picks, like Bella in shirt sleeves outside the tent, the morning after she nearly freezies to death. That was really fake and took me out of the movie. I also didn’t like the bed scene – sure, we go the “leg hitch” but I would have loved to have seen it more like the book, not both walkiing into his room with a bed there.

What I loved : Jacob’s note! How cool was that, and all wrinkled, like she read it over and over. That was so great. I also loved the way Edward was filmed, and portrayed. Less tortured, better make up. Yeah, beautiful, too beautiful for Bella!

I could go on, but so many have posted my favorite scenes. I will be seeing this again. I saw it opening day, and there were A LOT more guys in the theatre than for New Moon..

I loved the wolves. Maybe I’d have to see it again but Emily’s face didn’t look as scarred as it did in NM? I wish they’d shown Wolf Jake roll his eyes too – that always made me smile in the books.

As previous posters have mentioned, Bella was flat. The only time she showed a reasonable amount of emotion was when she had the talk with Charlie (which was a great scene, especially Charlie’s last words before chomping into his sandwich).

Overall, I liked it and, although I know it’s impossible to stick completely to the book, I liked that a few scenes had direct lines from Eclipse.

Sadly, my stepdaughter and I sat in front of two girls that chose to giggle and chat all the way through the movie. That ruined it for me. They got shushed a couple of times and eventually shut up. I understand it’s exciting and all but seriously? Shut upppppp!!!!

Overall I thought is was really good! The acting has gotten better on Kristen part. The scence where bella say yes to edward marriage was great. The kissing scence between jake and bella was good. But the snow scence look a little to fake, and the fighting scence between edward and victoria could have gone on a little bit more. oh! well.

Uh, it was great, but i wanted the scene where it was after she visited a banged up jacob, Bella broke down into tears. I dunno it just felt significant to me 😐

I also noticed the all-new texan accent of Jasper. I’m not sure the actors read the whole series before taking on the role. They should! I have read in different articles that Robert P has not read Breaking Dawn yet!!? I really hope that’s not true.

I just finished reading the Short Second Life of BT, and NOW I get why so many people think her scenes were sooooo short. She should have been allowed to say a little more. But oh well… I wonder if there would be a movie about Bree… hmmmm. Marcela

I think the movie was awesome. I’ve seen it a few times. I now have high expectations for Breaking Dawn. I know it will be 2 movies. In my opinion they need to get a director that is not afraid of making a long movie, like the director of Titanic, or Lord of the Ring. Thoes movies were long! Summit has the money spend. I would follow even closer to the book and I know thoes who have read the books would love it. Side note: for some reason when I read breaking dawn I picture Danny Davito as the Lawyer, bella gets her counterfeit papers from, some one should suggest that to S.M.
