I adore Twilight Saga and sooo don’t believe that some lame award show like TCA is causing alll this worry ’bout the supposed “downfall” of twilight. Don’t get me wrong, I like HP too, but I think – to us loyal Twihards – that twilight saga is far better than HP1. I personally think HP1 sucked! But Twilight is a classic.

Harry Potter and Twilight should have never been compared to one another. It was MTV that started that mess and it has become such a joke. They are nothing alike and I don’t like when people compare them. Harry Potter has loyal fans too and I happen to be one of them. And I happen to like the Potter fandom more than this fandom, because the people are nicer. It isn’t fair to say that Potter won simply because it was the end of the series. Back before Twilight, HP was the big thing starting in 1997 and it has a huge following worldwide. I remember when the first book was released in the US, people were desparate to get a copy. They were also the first book series to have midnight release parties. It was the teens who voted and therefore the one they picked is the one that got the award. The voters didn’t have a monetary stake in either series, unlike MTV who has a monetary stake in Twilight. That is why they win the awards at the MTV Movie Awards. Eclipse wasn’t nominated for an Academy Award, therefore you can’t argue that the awards they win mean anything substantial. Stuff like this, and conversations amongst Twilight fans, make me really sad to even admit that I like this series. In fact, Twilight carries such a major taint that it is starting to bleed into my enjoyment of the films and books. Well, the first three anyway. Breaking Dawn is better served as a door stop. I’d say after reading that book, I lost some of my interest in this series, but the fandom isn’t helping. Guess you can consider me weeded out of this fandom.

Although I am truly in love with all things Twilight, I thoroughly understand why the producers decided to virtually give away all the pertinent awards for Sci-Fi/Fantasy to Harry Potter as a farewell honorific. If I am completely honest, Deadly Hallows deserved the kudos it received. It really was a terrific movie. To me, Eclipse shouldnt be compared to Harry Potter. They are 2 completely different types of movies. And it should have been awarded its own honors.

It was the last hoorah for the Harry Potter films. It was to be expected in a lot of ways for them to go out big. Plus this is the TCA, not some credible, amazing award show. Twilight dominated at the MTV Movie Awards like usual, so obviously not everyone feels Twilight is over. Plus with teens especially, it is all about the here and now. The last HP film came out this summer. Eclipse came out over a year ago and BD will not be out until November. It makes sense that HP did well and there is no need for hysteria. If anything, hopefully the break between films will weed out the bandwagon “fans” who never read the books and just follow the crowd. True Twilighters are loyal and always have been. They made Twilight a success, not these followers who enjoy it for the moment. Plus, people are overlooking something. Harry Potter is over. The films are done so the only real competition that Twilight had for best current fanbase is about to be over. I just cannot believe a lame award show like TCA on Fox is causing all this sudden worry that Twilight is fading out. Odd.
