NEW YORK, NY, July 1, 2013 — REPUBLIC RECORDS, CONSTANTIN FILM
and SCREEN GEMS have unveiled an eclectic lineup of artists set to be featured on the official soundtrack album for “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones”, out August 20th, 2013 in stores and through all digital retailers.

 

Among the high-profile track list are new songs from multi-platinum selling pop artistDemi Lovato, multi-platinum alt-rock band AFI, Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum singer songwriter Colbie Caillat, and many more. These songs are not only showcased on the soundtrack but during key moments of one of the most highly anticipated films of the summer—in theaters August 21. The movie will be released by Screen Gems/Sony Pictures.

 

AFI’s remix of their new track, “17 Crimes,” channels a kinetic crash apropos of the action on-screen, EDM titan Zedd scored for a key scene in the film, while Colbie Caillat delivers a haunting ballad, “When the Darkness Comes,” which she wrote with producer David Hodges. The soundtrack covers the entire spectrum of sounds and emotions with everything from Jessie J’s swaggering, sultry pop to Bassnectar’s dubstep thump

The album opens the doorway into the world of “The

Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” is directed by Harald Zwart from a screenplay by Jessica Postigo Paquette based on the New York Times best-selling young adult fantasy novel by Cassandra Clare. The film features Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Lena Headey, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and more. Robert Kulzer and Don Carmody are producing and Bob Shaye, Michael Lynne and Martin Moszkowicz are executive producing.


Set in contemporary New York, “The
Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones” follows Clary Fray, a seemingly ordinary teenager as she discovers that she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons.  After the disappearance of her mother, Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternative New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures.
