Kia’s Observations…

Imagine if you will, a phone call from one of the cutest Texans, from the best Twilight Podcast in the world…

Now imagine that the aforementioned Texan tells you she is in Portland and needs a chauffeur to take her to the Twilight set for an official visit…

And now imagine that she asks for your help with some reporting…

That was me last week, and of course when Kallie called asking me to help I jumped at the opportunity! At 6 PM that Thursday, Kallie and I are on the long road to St. Helens, Oregon. We get to the set a little before 7:00 PM, as instructed by Kallieʼs contact. Here are a few things I observed. Observation #1: The production assistants and security guards were doing their job that night. Everyone who walked into the area was asked what they were doing there. I almost felt the need to give them a urine sample and finger nail clipping. It was that serious! I felt all rockstar when I said, “Iʼm with Kallie Mathews and Twilight Series Theories.” (I was official! Whereʼs my badge?)Side note: I was also asked to be Kallieʼs photographer. But here was the problem, I ainʼt no Amy Howe so I forgot how to shoot great pictures using no flash with my fancy camera. I was useless. All of the pictures we were allowed to take were super blurry! BOO-HOO. But lesson learned (turn up the ISO!).

Observation #2: (and I told my hubby this) THE CREW GUYS ARE HAWT! OK, not really a good film report, but just thought yʼall would like to know. But for realz, how did they get like 20 hot and sometimes funny Production Assistants? All ranging in age, height and level of yumminess?

Observation #3…Talk to the crew guys (Looking is good but talking is better). They have the best insight and info about the movie! I think I know just as many of the crew peopleʼs names as the cast. That is a good thing. They told Kallie and I when they plan on wrapping the film, how long the process will take once thy wrap, how they see things going (as compared to other work theyʼve done) and so on. The consensus from the crew was that filming was going good, a little behind schedule and when they are done it will be great! Sigh of relief! Oh, and they have people doing the most random and awesome jobs on set. Like the plant people. They pretty much set up and moved plants around the set all night. One of the plant guys told us that one of the plans had to be put away because it was too young and couldnʼt work more than 8 hours! LOVED IT!Side note: When you are told bring a jacket because it will be cold. BRING A JACKET because IT WILL BE COLD! I was going for cute, so I wore layers underneath my cute outfit, but after three hours of standing around in the cold I WAS SHIVERING! There was no amount of hot tea and hot cocoa from the snack cantina that could keep my teeth from chattering.

Observation #4: Robert Pattinson is so sweet. He got to set about an hour after Kallie and I did. He walked on, spoke to Logan (his gorgeous double) and Catherine Hardwicke, walked to the snack cantina, grabbed a can of Coke and walked to the area that they had set up for filming. Peter grabbed him and he spoke with two contest winners from a Portland radio station. After some jibber-jabbering, Kallie and I squeezed in for some Robert face time, and all I managed to say to him after he revealed he was “exhausted” (say that in your best English accent) was that he needed to drink some Red Bull! HAHAHA. I am a dork.

Observation #5: After Robertʼs little meet and greet, he walked to a dark area of the set and just stood there, hands by his side, looking straight ahead, but staring at nothing. It kind of freaked me out to see him in the dark. At first I thought he was in hiding. Then I realized he was getting into the Edward character. That night they were filming the Port Angeles scene with Edward saving Bella via Volvo from the rowdy fray boys! I loved glimpsing Robert getting prepared for that role. It gave me shivers, yes I was cold, but I got to see him transform into Edward!Side note: We got to the set at twilight…yes perfect timing, and when we left there was a full moon (wasnʼt sure if it was new) in the sky!

Kallie, thanks for the chance to hang out with you again! I love me some Texas girls. And thanks for letting me be a part of your Twilight set visit! It was an honor and a privilege!

  16. No one seems to know this and it is driving me crazy!!! A NEW MOON is when the moon is NOT THERE. The shadow covers it completely. You can only get a new moon AFTER is Waxes, becomes a full moon and then Wains. After all of this the moon is completely covered up and this is called a “New Moon” As in the DARKEST NIGHT, or even, THE DARKEST TIME IN BELLA’S LIFE!

  17. Oh, Kia! You are so funny. LOL.
