Reporting to you from the set of Twilight is a priviledge and honor, as a fellow Twilight Series fan. There is a great deal of time and effort that goes into our podcasts and website, and your support makes it all worth while! I must admit that getting onto the set of Twilight was looking grim, but with the propper contacts one can achieve the downright impossible!

The instant I knew there was a possiblilty of getting to the set of Twilight, I was thrilled. The invitation came as a surprise and was very much appreciated. At first, I was not even sure I would be able go. (I have to thank my mom, Kay, Kassie and Drew for babysitting, and my hubby, Scott, for giving me a great birthday present… plane tickets!) I made sure that everything in my world was taken care of, and then my adventure began.

When arriving in Portland, I knew that I would need some help finding my way around. I quickly called a friend that I met during my last visit (for the Kellan Lutz interview), Kia. She cleared her schedule for me, and offered to help with photography, and I was thankful for the company. My contact from the set asked that we arrive in St. Helens at 7:00 pm. They were on their second night of filming from 6:00 pm to 7:00 am. Once arriving, I new that the only way to squelch the butterflies in my stomach was to approach the evening professionally. (I know that doesn’t sound fun to you, but it worked for me!) Walking on set was not an easy task. I was asked by two security officers and three crew members who I was and also what I was doing there. I was relieved knowing that I belonged, and had fun explaining what a podcast was to a few of the guys.

I walked onto the set. It was surrounded by large trucks on one side, and old buildings on the other sides. There was a Volvo parked in the parking lot, with several people working around it. I introduced myself to my host for the evening, and was warmly welcomed. Kia joined me shortly after, and we found out that there were a few other visitors. A film class from a local college was there to see what a movie set was like, and two contest winners from a local radio station (Paige and Rochelle). It was not long before the crew had everything set up, with the doubles and stand-ins in place. Catherine Hardwicke made her way on the set, and brought an incredible energy. She reminded me a little of Alice, because she was so small but had an exuberant presence.

The “Frat Boys” were the the first to start, shooting close-ups of their reaction to an angry (and imaginary) Edward. The guys were amazing take after take. It was obvious that Catherine was happy with their work, as she would jump and clap, saying “Great job!” while laughing to herself. When the cameras were rolling it was silent on set. Then between scenes you would see and hear the crew and cast joking and having fun. I was amazed at how many people approached me, interested in me and what Twilight Series Theories was all about. It was a great opening for me to learn about the people that were working so hard on this film and what they did!

When talking to a camera man named Don, I found out that there are three cameras being used for the film. Each of the cameras are worth millions of dollars, and have three people working with each of them. I was also pleased to meet the movie’s photographer Deana. She explained that she is actually the second photographer on the movie, because the first one hurt his ankle. There were so many interesting and talented individuals working on the set. (I could go on and on, and I will on our next podcast!)

Not too long after the filming began, Robert Pattinson made his way onto the set. Our host introduced Rob to the group, and after a few minutes, I spoke up and told him who I was and introduced Kia. Rob was a very nice, and seemed a little quiet. Then we found out that he was very tired. We made sure to thank him for his time, then he walked off to prepare for his scene. Soon, the Frat Boys were face-to-face with Edward. The atmosphere on set became very heavy, as they were filming the scene when Edward confronts the Frat Boys in the street. There was some comic relief in the next scene, when the Frat Boys ran for their lives down the street tripping over each other. They were yelling at each other as they ran from Edward, and one yelped, “The beer!?!” Then another yells back, “Don’t forget about the beer!” The crew could not stop laughing.

Kristen Stewart arrived on set later in the evening. She was quickly involved in a scene where she was being confronted by the Frat Boys. I had moved to a place on set that was out of the way and behind some of the monitors. I was able to see Kristen’s facial expressions as she acted out the scene, and was overwhelmed by her talent. Soon, they were filming close-ups of the Frat Boys surrounding Bella, and she suddenly kneed one of them in the groin! One of the other Frat Boys said, “Walk it off, walk it off!” and everyone started giggling.

While watching the filming, I was able to meet a few more cast and crew members. Kia and I had the most interesting conversations with Logan, one of Rob’s doubles, about creepy cults. I also talked to one of the stunt men, Doug, about coffee. (It was the one thing that kept me awake…I was still on TX time!) One thing that everyone agreed on was that they really enjoyed making this film. The consensus was encouraging!

The clock did not stand still, and the rainy weather that the area is known for started to fall. Kia and I decided to call it a night, and headed for the car around 11:30 pm. On the way, we were recognized by some extras, Jen and Genevieve! They were filming on another street, and were working all night as well. I had not realized there was a second crew working so hard.

I wanted to visit the set for our listeners, and the Twilight fans, to give an account of what is going on with the film Twilight. After meeting so many remarkable people, my focus is now directed on recognizing the Cast and Crew of the film Twilight. Thank you for working so hard to produce this movie! And, thank you to everyone that has supported TST over the past few months! Your excitement and encouragement is what has made all of this possible!

  21. You are the luckiest woman in the world. Next time take me in your suitcase though. Does Edward or any other stars act like they are bothered by all the reporters and fans yet or do they enjoy all this sudden attention. I think it will only get worse for all the stars as all the promotional stuff and more hype comes out. I wonder if Robert and Kristen really realize how important this job is going to be to their careers. GOTTA LOVE IT BABY!

  22. Do you know what college and fraternity the “frat guys” are suppose to be from? Do they actually have frat stuff on, or is that just the name people are giving them?

  23. Let me just tell you…if that was me…
I would have missed the whole thing because I would have been bawling my little eyes out!! Seeing these characters brought to life would have been too much for me. And Robert is…a GOD, to say the least. Yummy.

    i would have KISSED him!
putting your arm around him nothing!!!!

omg! i would have loved to go! just to SEE him would set me for LIFE!!
