A Note From Stephenie

Jul 7th, 2008 | By Becka | Category: Site News

Hey everybody,

Kallie is out of town, which puts me in the ‘boss chair’ by defacto. I mentioned this on the podcast that will be out tomorrow, but I also wanted to post about it now.

Twilight Series Theories was one of several fansites to recieve a letter from Stephenie Meyer. In this note, Stephenie herself requests that we shut down our front page comments and forums as of July 14th, 2008 at 9 p.m. EST. Twilight Series Theories is always willing to comply with the wishes of Little-Brown and Stephenie herself. Therefore, as of July 14th at 9 p.m. EST, comments will be disabled on all Breaking Dawn related posts. Comments on other news posts are going to be sent to moderator-approval, meaning that every single comment will be hand-approved by a staff member before it goes live on the site.

At this point in time I am unable to provide you with information as to what will happen on the forum, but it will either be set to moderator approval with Breaking Dawn related sections closed, or it will be closed completely.

All modes of communication will be running at full steam by 8 am on August 2, 2008.

We believe that due to the discussion nature of our website this is the best course of action to take, to let our website continue to function while keeping everybody happy and spoiler-free. We request that people don’t waste time trying to post spoilers, since we will not know if they are true or not, and they will not make it through the filtering process regardless. If we were to recieve an additional request to end all commenting completely, we would of course honor that request.

Since Kallie is out of town, I am asking that you direct any inquiries involving this post or the site’s policies in the matter to becka@twilightseriestheories.com

We are all very excited and very anxious for Breaking Dawn to arrive, so let’s try and keep this a fun and pleasant (and spoiler-free!) experience for everybody.

-Becka

  1. THAT STINKS!!!!! Ok well, I can live!

  2. what about Kassie????? Shouldn’t she be in charge she is the other sister….. sorry but………..

  3. I think what you guys are planning is a great idea and really makes sense. I was so surprised by this announcement from stephenie. I know people want to remain spoiler free leading up to the release but to basically shut down sites during what would be the busiest time for them, right before a book release…yeah I was confused by this. I think what you guys are going to do is the best decision. Thanks!

  4. Wait. Can someone please explain to me why this is happening? Is it just to keep free of spoilers?

  5. Hey everyone! Im gonna clear up some things for ya,
First of all, Kassie is taking a break too! (They will be back next week!)
Second, We will stop and watch comments to prevent spoilers so every one can enjoy the book the way it should be!
Thank you so much everyone! Feel free to email me or Becka with more questions!
    -Kelly, TST Staffer!

  6. Cool. I totally understand why they are doing this, and I kind of apriciate it! According to Stephenie Meyer’s website, she doesn’t want any of us to have a ruined experience with Breaking Dawn… I totally respect that.

  7. that makes total sense! Thanks guys, for m=not letting us see the spoilers, that must take forever to read through ALL the comments!

but why does it have to be so soon?

  8. Kelly here to help again! LOL! Anyway: it must be soon because thats the earliest date when books could be released by mistake! Thanks for being so understanding everyone!

  9. Hey, at first I was totally depressed by this news because that means no more speculating what will happen. That makes me sad. But, it means that maybe now is the time to discuss The Host more… What do you all think? I can’t live without the podcasts!!!

  10. maybe i’m just dumb, but why shut things down so much time before the release and not any time after?
I don’t plan to read the book all in one night, so i’ll have to stay away from fansites altogether until i finish…..
i guess that once its out its ‘fair game’, i’m just a little lost
lol actually i think i got it while i was typing that…oops

  11. That seems really weird to me also. Do they think any of us won’t buy the book if we see a spoiler? JK Rowling didn’t do that before her big release. Very strange indeed but I understand TWT doing what they are asked by the big dogs. But still very weird….. hmmmm……

  12. im glad you guys are joining in on this! I want to be on the boards asap Aug 2nd.. however my local barnes and nobel isn’t selling books until that morning :(
