MTV talked to Catherine Hardwicke about the infamous “spider money” line and the director revealed the alternate lines that were almost chosen!  Got any favorites?

Hardwicke’s unused lines range from simplistic to silly, over-the-top to right on target. Now, we give you a peek at some of the alternative lines that Pattinson did not select:

Option 1:
Edward: You’re not scared of heights, are you?
Bella: Not that I know of …

Option 2:
Edward: Hold on tight …
Bella: Don’t worry …

Option 3:
Edward: Wrap your legs around me like a spider monkey.
Bella: Done.

Option 4:
Edward: Got a good grip? Don’t let go.
Bella: No chance of that, buddy.

Option 5
Edward: Prepare for liftoff …

There are three more lines that MTV will reveal on Monday!

  2. Sonja says:

yeah number 1 and 2 are the only decent ones

  3. SeeTheUnseen93 says:

She’s got interesting taste to say the least.

  4. Amanda says:

    lmafo
im sorry but most of these sound like……..more adult than needed.
“Wrap your legs around me like a spider monkey!”
    that totally made my day

  5. kim says:

4 would have been better, w/o the “buddy”.

I have to admit, the spider monkey line bothers me to know end…

  6. nikki c says:

yes. i think the spider monkey line is stupid in the movie… seriously would edward EVER say that?!?!?!?
    i didn’t think so……..

  7. Morgan says:

Haha, I can totally see Edward saying,”Prepare for liftoff”. Just kidding. Not in a million years.
The spider monkey line is pretty stupid, but they’ll have better lines for New Moon, I’m sure.

Welche Vorteile bringt dieses Programm? Ich setze deine Tipps ja immer gerne um, aber davor iniÂseerstert mich natürlich, was sich dadurch für mich verbessert

  8. Brandi says:

why can’t they just stick with what is in the book?! Id say that is the way to go. But who am I, right?

  9. Emily says:

3 is so bad! if they had said that in the movie i would have been like WTF did he actually just say that?
the whole spider monkey line was kinda wired but i have to say i like it better then the rest of these!

  10. Carolina G.B. says:

Pretty clever lines!!!!!!!! But, my favorite is the spider monkey line in the movie!!!

  11. Leah says:

    3 sounds perverted

  12. Carrie says:

haha it does! I only like 1 and 2

  13. my-personal-brand-of-heroin says:

What the hale?! Seriously that’s all they could come up with?
The spidermonkey part in the film drove me crazy but compared to these it sounds good!
Why can’t they just stick to the book? As if Edward would ever call Bella a spidermonkey!

  14. Alyssa says:

3 is deffinetely the worse/most awkwardly entertaining and 5 just makes me laugh. I do actually really like 1.

  15. Monica H. says:

    1 and 2!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Nikki says:

I dont really care about the alternitive lines….I loved the spider monkey line in the movie!! I was silly, yet kinda romantic and sexy! That line stuck with me for a while!

  17. Jessica says:

Honestly If I had a choice they never would have jumped out of the window in the first place! The couch jump was more playful, cute, and surprising. “Prepare for liftoff” He’s a vampire not a freaking astronaut. Hardwick did a great job but honestly the whole monkey subtheme was just odd. “My monkey man” I can live with but c’mon. In the commentary Hardwick says that Pattinson picked the line out. This shows us why he’s better off acting and looking great.

  18. Cedar says:

LOL! option for is my fav when bella says ” no chance of that buddy”!

  19. Sasha Metzinger says:

so glad they went with spider monkey

    • Kaylan says:

  20. Jaclynmarie15 says:

#1 is the only good one. Seriously, of ALL the people working on the script THIS is the best they could come up with? Come on, spider monkey was pretty lame, but, “prepare for /liftoff/”?

  21. Emily says:

haha these are hilarious – the one in the movie is the best i think =D nice one Rob for picking it out over these!!
but i liked it in the book when bella says ‘i’m a bit heavier than you average backpack’ i think that would have been cool =D

  22. my-personal-brand-of-heroin says:

I agree with Emily that line from the book would have been sooo much better!

And Jessica had a point as well. I thought that just out the window was completely unneccessary. I thought the couch jump was cute!
