Hey, I recently was looking for books and came across this one and looked so good, that I ordered it right after I read some reviews!

The book is called The Dust of 100 Dogs, by A.S King.

Here is the summary from AMAZON,

In the late seventeenth century, famed teenage pirate Emer Morrisey was on the cusp of escaping the pirate life with her one true love and unfathomable riches when she was slain and cursed with “the dust of one hundred dogs,” dooming her to one hundred lives as a dog before returning to a human body-with her memories intact. Now she’s a contemporary American teenager and all she needs is a shovel and a ride to Jamaica.

It sounds amazing, and this book is on the mature side 14-15+ Thanks! And it is a Young Adult book!

UPDATE-Finished the book and it was so good!

Hey, I am currently reading a series by Carrie Vaughn! The series is about WEREWOLVES, and VAMPIRES! The two things that we love here on Twilight Series Theories! I am currently reading Kitty and the Dead Man’s Hand! So far its so good! I have all the books, and it is a fun story with , werewolves, and vampire, Oh-MY!

Here are the books,

Kitty Norville (Werewolf)

  1. Kitty and the Midnight Hour (2005)
  2. Kitty Goes to Washington (2006)
  3. Kitty Takes a Holiday (2007)
  4. Kitty and the Silver Bullet (2008)
  5. Kitty and the Dead Man’s Hand (February 2009)
  6. Kitty Raises Hell (March/April 2009)

The links above are for AMAZON.COM! Books 5, and 6, are currently not out, they will be out soon, and as I am half way through book 5, its really good!

Here is the summary of the first book from AMAZON.COM

VAMPIRES. WEREWOLVES. TALK RADIO. Kitty Norville is a midnight-shift DJ for a Denver radio station—and a werewolf in the closet. Sick of lame song requests, she accidentally starts “The Midnight Hour,” a late-night advice show for the supernaturally disadvantaged. After desperate vampires, werewolves, and witches across the country begin calling in to share their woes, her new show is a raging success. But it’s Kitty who can use some help. With one sexy werewolf-hunter and a few homicidal undead on her tail, Kitty may have bitten off more than she can chew…

These books are under the FANTASY Genre! Just a heads up!

UPDATE- This book was very cool, and had a nice spin on your ordinary werewolf stories!

FADE by Lisa Mcmann

FADE by Lisa Mcmann

Here is the AMAZON summary!

SOME NIGHTMARES NEVER END.

For Janie and Cabel, real life is getting tougher than the dreams. They’re just trying to carve out a little (secret) time together, but no such luck.

Disturbing things are happening at Fieldridge High, yet nobody’s talking. When Janie taps into a classmate’s violent nightmares, the case finally breaks open — but nothing goes as planned. Not even close. Janie’s in way over her head, and Cabe’s shocking behavior has grave consequences for them both.

Worse yet, Janie learns the truth about herself and her ability — and it’s bleak. Seriously, brutally bleak. Not only is her fate as a dream catcher sealed, but what’s to come is way darker than she’d feared….

Thanks!

UPDATE- Finished this book and Lisa did it again the story is awesome, and I can’t wait for GONE (book3)

**************************************************************************************************************

Hey! Alex here! I got an email today from Abby Harris, and she recommeded Night World no. 1. I also got this recommendation from alot of other people, so thanks to all!

Here is the description from AMAZON.com

Vampires, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters — they live among us without our knowledge. Night World is their secret society, a secret society with very strict rules. And falling in love breaks all the laws of the Night World.

In Secret Vampire, Poppy thought the summer would last forever. Then she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Now Poppy’s only hope for survival is James, her friend and secret love. A vampire in the Night World, James can make Poppy immortal. But first they both must risk everything to go against the laws of Night World.

Fugitives from Night World, three vampire sisters leave their isolated home to live among humans in Daughters of Darkness. Their brother, Ash, is sent to bring the girls back, but he falls in love with their beautiful friend. Two witch cousins fight over their high school crush. It’s a battle between black magic and white magic in Spellbinder.

The book is about Vampires as it says above, and I was a little dissapointed haha, because in the AMAZON reviews, so many people were saying how much they loved this story, even more than TWILIGHT! I know *gasp*!

Hey, the staffer that is recommending a book for the month of January.  So when I told Kallie that she is going to have to givea book recommendations, this is the responce that I got!

Kallie Mathews gave 5 stars to: Outlander (Outlander, Book 1) by Diana Gabaldon
bookshelves: currently-reading

Ok… so I am a little over halfway through and LOVE IT! I can’t believe there is still more to read… this book is HUGE!

With that responce, I am guessing that this book is GREAT!

Here is the AMAZON summary!

In Outlander, a 600-page time-travel romance, strong-willed and sensual Claire Randall leads a double life with a husband in one century, and a lover in another. Torn between fidelity and desire, she struggles to understand the pure intent of her heart. But don’t let the number of pages and the Scottish dialect scare you. It’s one of the fastest reads you’ll have in your library. While on her second honeymoon in the British Isles, Claire touches a boulder that hurls her back in time to the forbidden Castle Leoch with the MacKenzie clan. Not understanding the forces that brought her there, she becomes ensnared in life-threatening situations with a Scots warrior named James Fraser. But it isn’t all spies and drudgery that she must endure. For amid her new surroundings and the terrors she faces, she is lured into love and passion like she’s never known before.

Thanks, keep the recommendation coming!!!!

DISTANT WAVES A NOVEL OF THE TITANIC!

Distant Waves is a romance novel that is about two couples.  The main story follows Jane, a 16 year old girl,  who’s mother believes that she can contact the spirit world.  The story takes place over 16 long years. Jane’s mother gets the chance to go to England, for a conference, and on the way back, Jane, and her sisters accidentally get stuck on the Titanic, what will happen?  The story is a must read, a truly wonderful novel! The story is written very well, and will keep the reader wondering, a real page turner, with a different type of ending!  The only bad thing about this book is that the characters never actually get on the Titanic til page 200.

The Dangerous Days of Daniel X

James Patterson does it again, with this great book.  Like most Patterson books its a quick read, with a great plot.  At first I was hesitant to read this because I don’t enjoy alien novels, but this is an exception! Daniels parents were killed by an Alien when he was young, and now that he has grown up he is hunting Aliens on Earth, trying to get to the Alien that murdered his parents.  Daniel has great powers and the one power that I love is he can create things with his mind….All he has to do is think it and BAM, it is there! how cool! Must read!

-Alex (Currently reading the second in the series review up soon!–Out July 27th 2009)

Here is my review for probably the most popular recommendation that I have been getting from you people!

Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment is a very interesting read. The story is about six kids, that call themselves mutate freaks. When they were younger, a place called “The School” injected them with bird genes. So now, they are 98% human, and 2% bird. The only real quality of a bird that they have is their wings. Which yes they can fly with! Each of the kids look up to Maximum, as there parent figure since she is the oldest. Therefore, what happens when the youngest of their flock gets kidnapped and taken back to “The School” Max’s only mission is to get her back! This book is an awesome read, which you will not put down until the last page. My recommendation is to buy book one and book two or rent them at once because book one will leave you wanting more! (There are currently five books in the series!)

Maximum Ride Schools Out Forever Review coming soon!

The Hollow by Jessica Verday is a phenomenal read that will leave you itching to read the sequel! Abbey, a teenage girl, has just lost her best friend Kristen – to a freak accident where is fell into a river. This seems very odd to Abbey because when they were just pre-teens they promised each other that they would never go to the river without the other just in case something happened, and Kristen broke that promise. This leaves Abbey wondering what could have happened to Kristen. Abbey and Kristen use to visit the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, but now it feels weird to Abbey because Kristen now lives there, 6 feet under the ground. Still Abbey stops by the Cemetery almost every day, she evens meets someone, a guy, who she starts to fall for. In time, Caspian and Abbey become close, but as Abbey gets to know him things get stranger and stranger. Abbey also continues to search to find out what happened and why Kristen was done at the river, she soon discovers something that makes Abbey re-think their whole friendship. She soon has to think about her love for Caspian and what it is really about, it is as if he is too good to be true.

Jessica Verday is my favorite break out author of 2009! She writes with such passion that it is hard not to think that this is fiction. The Hollow is such a wonderful book full of twists. I think that you should go pre-order this book now because it will fly off the shelves at your local bookstore! Its not your average love story, it’s a love story with a paranormal twist!

Do you Twitter – Then follow Lee Verday, husband to Jessica Verday on Twitter. Twitter.com/Leeaverday

ASH

Everyone knows the story of Cinderella, right.  Well ASH is a different kind of Cinderella story.  Much different. Aisling, better known as Ash, losses her mother  at a very young age, and when her father get remarried Ash learns to live with it.  But when her father becomes deeply ill, and dies she is forced to live with her step mother and her two daughters.  Ash is forced to work as a maid around the house to repay her step mother for her fathers debts.  On her free time Ash slips into the forest where she feels closest to her mother, but she soon discovers someone – a man – but soon she discovers that he is not really a man, but a fairy.  His name Sidhean, and he promises to grant Ash anything she desires but at a cost, that he will not tell.  Later in the same Wood Ash meets someone that changes her life, the Kings Huntress, Kaisa, who Ash becomes very close with.  Through the story you watch their blooming friendship turn into a wonderful relationship.

This is a powerful, and different retelling of Cinderella.  I have read many “retellings” of Cinderella, and other fairy tales, but this one is unique and has a special quality to it.  Malinda Lo is a very talented debut writer, a new voice in Young Adult fiction.

Now I have to say this Ash is a ” lesbian retelling of Cinderella”  but I think its more than that, I dont look at it like that, just two people who fall in love.  A beautifully debut novel by Malinda Lo!

Click here to see the full jacket for ASH, published by Little Brown Young readers, September 2009!

153 Comments to “TST Book Recommendations”

  1. AbbyCullen says:

I have two reccomendations!! They are both vampire series. They are:
Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz (part of the Blue Bloods series)
    and
Marked by PC & Kristin Cast (part of the House of Night series).
They’re both realllyyy good, but they can’t fill the empty void you have after finishing Twilight!

  2. Alex says:

Thanks I read Marked and enjoyed it! And I am going to start the BB series!

  3. AbbyCullen says:

They’re really good. Sort of like Gossip Girl and Twilight mixed together!

  4. Alex says:

Haha! Ya I agree, thats a great comparison! haha!

  5. Brandee says:

The whole Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon is awesome!!!! I totally recommend it.

    Thanks B~

  6. Leticia says:

dont read blue blood!!!!!! please!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its not that good…of course nothings compared to twilight! read uninvited though to fill your void!

  7. jasperhaleluvr says:

Hey guys!! I have found the “New Twilight”. It is still kind of under wraps but I love it. It is Twilight meets Sex in the City, well at least that’s what I think. It’s called Vampire Academy. It has the forbidden love as Twilight but has more sex appeal for the older readers. This book is NOT for the youngsters in the Twilight nation. It has a lot of “lime” for all of those who read fan fiction, you know what lime is. I am not saying this book is Twilight but it is still amazing.

Another book is City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. This book is about shadow hunters. It also has amazing mythical characters as well. She seems to have every kind of mythical creature possible. It is also not for the younger audiences. I did have to read this book twice to get all the information to understand the second one. Then again, that could just be me.

Yet another book that good is Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. This book is set in the future where at 16 you become pretty. Tally, the main character is a little bit mischievous, and winds up having to go get her friend to become pretty. It was a great series. I enjoyed every minute and could hardly put the entire series down. I read all four of them in under a week. That is super fast for me considering it took me a week to read Twilight and New Moon.

A fourth great book that Twilighters might enjoy is Avalon High by Meg Cabot. This book is a twist on the Arthurian Legends. It is set in modern times with the typical high school scenario. Ellie just moved to a new school. Will is the QB and the student body president. Lance is Will’s best friend. Jennifer is Will’s gf and the head cheerleader. It is a little bit shallow to begin with but quickly gets deeper, I think.

Yet another series (because I have no life, i read) is Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber. These books are kind of juvenile. They are really short but interesting. It is about a girl named Raven, whose ultimate goal in life is to find a vampire to love and become a vampire. I found it ironic that when people asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she said she wanted to be a vampire. This book is a little cliquey but still good if you are really looking for an easy to read and short book.

Another great series I love is called Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The first book in the series is called the Lightning Thief. This book really get your attention at the beginning. It was hard to put down the several times I have read it. It is modernized Greek mythology. Great for all of you who are reading the Odyssey or the Iliad. It helps take a look at the same characters in a different light.

A great stand alone book(also a movie, that is nothing like the book) is Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause. It is about a girl who is a werewolf(not shapeshifter) and her family. Everyone is relocated after their pack is sort of discovered by the humans. They move and the main character meets a boy who writes poems about the what she is. At first she thinks he is like her. She soon discovers that is not the case. It is a well written novel. I wish there had been another book to follow but no such luck. There is a movie but it doesn’t follow the plot of the book at all. About the only similatarites are they are all werewolves, the character names are the same, and a title. Other than that it is really different.

  8. Gina Cullen says:

This suggestion is not like Twilight but for Harry Potter fans and just fantasy characters in general try Magky by Angie Sage. And also the second book, Flyte, third book Physic and the last book Queste. They are about wizards and magic. I am on book 3 and have not met any vampires yet but it is a really easy, fun and interesting read. I have come to love the characters and their journey.

Has other people read Marked or betrayed by PC and Kristen Cast.? I bought them because at Borders it said “if you love Stephenie Meyer you will also love Marked and Betrayed”. I haven’t started reading them yet. I am waiting on my ereader (I am so excited).

Of course, Harry Potter is a MUST read! and don’t forget about the HOST by Stephenie, just struggle through the first few chapters and then you will love the story.

Enjoy your reading, Fellow-Twilighter, Gina Cullen (Edward’s True Love, LOL)

  9. Nikki says:

I’ve read the House of Night novels by P C Cast and Kristin Cast. The are fabulous! Marked, Betrayed, Chosen, and Untamed are all out now. Hunted will be out March 10th. Can’t wait!!! They are great reads.

I’ve always read the Blue Blood series by Melissa de la Cruz. I liked them, she put a new twist on the vampire world and envoled some of our own history in them. Amazing. She has a fourth book to the series coming out Sept 1st.

  10. Nikki says:

ha…sorry didn’t mean i’ve always read but i’ve also read

  11. Samantha says:

I have to reccommend The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It’s set in the future and shows just how dependant on technology the world has become, to the point where watching kids fight for their lives is the new Olympics. Amazing book, but it is a little violent for younger kids. And she has successfully wrapped an interesting love story/triangle right into the mix.

Also I’ve not seen it mentioned, but also the Vampire Diaries by L. J. Smith, I have yet to read them, but they are supposed to be good and they are being made into a show.

And I have to second the recommendation of Blood & Chocolate, it really was an awesome book. I too hoped for a sequel, but no such luck.

  12. Aex says:

    Hey Guys!
Thanks so much for the recommendations, I check the page often, and add some of the books to my list, (its long) I hope to be updating the Book Page soon, school….Ugh…. But thanks so much, I love the Hunger Games BTW! Its totally awesome! Thanks again.
    -Alex

  13. Rikki says:

OOOH. The Wicked Lovely series is really good. It’s by Melissa Marr. There is currently 2 books ; Wicked Lovely and Ink Exchange. It’s about this girl who can see faeries and this “Summer King” is trying to make her one but she loves someone else(human) named seth. Meanwhile She actuallygets turned into one of the fey(Plural for Faerie)

  14. Rikki says:

Ah, another AWESOME book is Need by Carrie Jones it just came out this year. It’s also about the Pixie,Were animals(not just wolves),Faery world. It’s a twisted romance.I read it in 1 day it that good!!!

  15. Alex says:

Thanks, I hope you guys liked the books that I liked I am reading your comments!
    You all rock!
    -Alex!

  16. Leticia M says:

Hey everybod you should check out UNWIND by Neil Shuisterman…its for anybody, and not too long either. Youll lioke the characters, and love the story espaecially if your a fan of the hunger games, and the Host! !!!!!!!! thanks bye!

  17. Shelby Whitlock says:

One series I enjoy is the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. The first series (the whole big series is made up of three separate smaller series, each made up of six books) is by far the best- the other two being decent.

The series begins with a housecat, Rusty, wandering into the woods one day and meeting the Clans. Four groups of wild cats live in the forest beside his house, they follow a set of laws known as the warrior code, care for each other within their Clans, and often- fight between Clans. This series has love, drama, suspense, and most of all- amazing characters. Everyone is sure to find a favrite character within the books, there are tons to choose from and so many different, complicated personalites. The loyal, noble and brave Rusty or the fiesty, sharp-tongued Sandpaw? My personal favorite in the first series is Tigerclaw- who doesn’t love a myserious, tough, hunk of cat?

Hope some of you will read it and even post your opinions- if you don’t like them I can understand- I have plenty of friends who love them and some who just can’t follow the many characters and interwining plots.

  18. Shelby Whitlock says:

Another book I enjoyed- yes I know I’m posting right below myself- is the The Sight. This book is very skillfully written and although the plot is rather dark and sad, the ending line really makes you shift your focus on the book. Appreciate the little things in life and hope for the better. I absolutley loved the ending, it was simple, sweet and very endearing- especially since it connected wolves to humans by using one of the first lines of the Bible to end the book.

The main characters in the book (and series) are Larka and Fell. The two are siblings from a medium sized pack of wolves, led by their parents Huttster and Palla. Larka’s name means “fresh-fallen snow” as she has a rare white coat, and Fell is named after Palla’s dead brother. The two siblings, as opposite as can be, one white and one black, one gentle and one dark, one open and one mysterious, both share amazingly similar emotions and thoughts and are forced to grow up before their time by the unnatural troubles that plague their pack.

The book and its sequel, “Fell”, are both somewhat confusing but both worth trying at least. I enjoyed “The Sight” more than “Fell” but both were worth my time. I hope some of you take the time to read about Palla, Huttster, Larka, Fell, Khaz, Kipcha, Bran, Brassa, Morgra and the others!

  19. Jacki says:

Wow, great book recommendations! I am marking all of them on to a list! (: Thanks!

  20. Meg says:

    I have a recommendation:
The Order of Odd-Fish by James Kennedy.

    It’s amazing. Read it!

  21. katie says:

I think the house of night novels are REALLY good and like twilight they can be read by a wide rang of people.and plus they’re about vampires, in love, with humans and one another [and such] all at the same time.

  22. Amanda says:

I WANT MIDNIGHT SUN PLEASE PLEASE STEPHANIE FINESH IT!

  23. Carly (Lautner) says:

‘ello Alex! i just shot you an email but i’ll stick it in here anyway.

Bliss by Lauren Myracle. here’s a copy-and-paste description from Amazon: “When Bliss’s hippie parents leave the commune and dump her at the home of her aloof grandmother in a tony Atlanta neighborhood, it’s like being set down on an alien planet. The only guide naive Bliss has to her new environment is what she’s seen on The Andy Griffith Show. But Mayberry is poor preparation for Crestview Academy, an elite school where the tensions of the present and the dark secrets of the past threaten to simmer into violence. Openhearted Bliss desperately wants new friends, making her the perfect prey of a troubled girl whose obsession with a long-ago death puts Bliss, and anyone she’s kind to, in mortal danger. ”

it’s ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY FANTASTIC. read it. and the HoN series ROX. and so do Wicked Lovely and Ink Exchange. all good. but it’s Bliss i recommend here. and yes, Alex, i love that you read our comments. much love!

hi Alex! haha you put Aex…makin’ me laugh dude…LAUGH! lol i’m a little hyper now, seeing as i’ve had 4 cupcakes today…

more book recommendations!! The Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray (books: A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, The Sweet Far Thing). copy and pasting from Amazon again 🙂

“Gemma, 16, has had an unconventional upbringing in India, until the day she foresees her mother’s death in a black, swirling vision that turns out to be true. Sent back to England, she is enrolled at Spence, a girls’ academy with a mysterious burned-out East Wing. There Gemma is snubbed by powerful Felicity, beautiful Pippa, and even her own dumpy roommate Ann, until she blackmails herself and Ann into the treacherous clique. Gemma is distressed to find that she has been followed from India by Kartik, a beautiful young man who warns her to fight off the visions. Nevertheless, they continue, and one night she is led by a child-spirit to find a diary that reveals the secrets of a mystical Order. The clique soon finds a way to accompany Gemma to the other-world realms of her visions “for a bit of fun” and to taste the power they will never have as Victorian wives, but they discover that the delights of the realms are overwhelmed by a menace they cannot control. Gemma is left with the knowledge that her role as the link between worlds leaves her with a mission to seek out the ‘others’ and rebuild the Order.”

that’s what AGATB is about, but if i put down the descriptions of the sequels it will ruin the plot! they’re chick lit, though, so be warned if you decide to read them! well, i’m off again, much love!

Jasperhaleluvr had a lot of my favorites. The City of Bones, first in the Mortal Instrument series was my relief from Harry Potter withdrawl before I discovered Twilight. I flew through City of Ashes and can’t wait for City of Glass out this month. I noticed she also mentioned Scott Westerfeld but not his trilogy the Midnighters. Read all three in 5 days which is an accomplishement for a working mother and wife.
I would also like to recommend Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac. I support the recommendations of the Vampire Academy series and the House of Night Series and the Septimus Heap books the 5th Syren to come out this year. I would also recommend books by Sarah Addison Allen Garden Spells and Sugar Queen. They are a little romance with a little magic and paranormal mixed it. I have many more to suggest but this is a good start.

  28. Carly says:

Alex…check again. it still says Aex. see, i cut and paste: “Aex March 4th, 2009 3:20 pm”. haha and thanks for saying i rock…i like to have assurance! and Laurie’s right about Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac. that book’s a good one. thanks for reading these! it makes me feel loved. 🙂

    Book: Ender’s Game
    Author: Orson Scott Card
This is an amazing book. Why do I reccomend it? Why should you read it?
    1. It is one of Stephenie Meyer’s favorite books and is from her favorite author. In an interview she listed Speaker for the Dead as her favorite, which is book 2 in the Ender series, and Orson Scott Card as her favorite author.
    2. It is unique in that it can stand on its own; it is not necessary to read the rest of the books in the series to get a great story that feels complete. It is also unique because it has 2 different series that branch off from it: The Ender series, and the Enders Shadow series.
    3. The story is very engaging. It will suck you in. And it is a very easy read, which means you get a GREAT story with little effort. While it is written so anyone can read it, the story and many of the ideas expressed are deep and touching.
    4. It is a fairly clean book -only a few curse words- which means you can reccomend it to anyone, and enjoy it not only with your adult friends, but also with your kids.
    5. It is the winner of the prestigious Nebula Award and the Hugo Award for best novel.
    6. I’ve read it several times, and will read it again.
    7. I had an experience with a co-worker last week (true story). I asked him what books he likes to read. He knows that I like the twilight series and that I am an avid reader. I decided to ask him what books he likes because I was in the middle of re-reading “Enders game”, and wanted to recommend it to him. Before I could reccomend the book he told me that he doesn’t like reading, and never reads for fun. Then, he continued by saying the only book he has ever enjoyed reading was a book he read in highschool called: Ender’s Game. I laughed, and told him that I was just about to recommend him that book. In short, this is a book that anyone will like.
    What is it about?
    1. It’s a science fiction book about a boy genius who is taken to a military school that is trying to find and create the greatest military mind in order to protect the world from an attack on an alien race? Sounds crazy? Sounds Stupid? Well, it’s amazing, and my one sentence description can’t do it justice. You have to read it!!! You will love it!!! As a fellow twilighter trust me!!

DIAMONDS ARE A GIRLS BEST FREIND by JENNY COLGAN
Its kinda nothing like twilight but i promise while i read this book i didnt put it down once!!!!
    I loved it!
You know whats strange, before i started reading the twilight books and all the books since, i had never read past the first page in a book ever!! i really hated reading, i would fail all my subjects that were based on the books we read because i never read them! and now my friends think im posessed or something because i read all the time. My friend even checked my pulse to see if i was still alive! that was weird, but they were really worried about me, it took me ages to explain to them that books are actually fun to read but they still didnt believe me! haha they checked my pulse because they said that when im reading i look like i have left my body or something like that and there afraid i wont come back. I dont pay any attention to them while reading at luch time but one the other day i was wondering what was going on these days and all they were talking about was me, and they were saying stuff like OMG when is this going to end i just want the old Harley back!
i feel sorry for them and i wish i could be my old self for their sakes but when i pick up a book i dont put it down until i finish it!

  31. Harley says:

I talk about myself alot, haha oh well!!
Maybe i should write a book!!

  32. lily rose says:

WOW, I just listened to Supporter Speculations Podcast Week 47, and heard that Kallie had recommended OUTLANDER
to read. I LOVE THESE BOOKS. I became addicted to them years ago and they have a fond place in my heart. The character’s are amazing. (I love Jamie and Claire!) And there are six of them so far in the series, real door stopper books like Twilight. This is a series you can definitely get lost in, and the story just gets better and better with each book.
This is absolutely adult reading, there is a lot of really good sass, if you know what I mean, and some violence. I have read them each multiple times and each time I get more out of the story just like Twilight, there is hidden goodness to be found.

    Top favorite books:
OUTLANDER (Drums of Autumn is my fave in series)
TWILIGHT (Eclipses is tied with Breaking Dawn, what can I say I like romance and gore!)

    Good Stuff!

  33. Carly (Lautner) says:

hi, Alex, do you believe i have more recommendations? The Scarlett Wakefield series by Lauren Henderson. the two books out are “Kiss Me Kill Me” and “Kisses and Lies.” thanks, Amazon, for this lovely summary!

“Kiss Me Kill Me” : Scarlett Wakefield has one wish at the beginning of the year: to have Dan McAndrew notice her. But Scarlett is so far removed from the cool crowd that she’ll never run into Dan. One day after gymnasticspractice, waiting in front of St. Tabby’s (the all-girl school she attends), Nadia, one of the “it” girls, crosses the street and invites Scarlett to join her and the other popular girls hanging out at the fountain. Nadia was sent across the street by the leader, Plum. Without thinking of the consequences or her friends’ feelings, Scarlett crosses the street. Had she stopped and thought about the outcome, maybe she would’ve turned back around and stayed on the bench with Luce and Allison. But once Dan joins the gang at the fountain and comes straight over to Scarlett, all regrets are gone. She is beside herself with the attentions from Dan. Scarlett is even more shocked when Nadia, upon Plum’s subtle nod, invites Scarlett to one of her infamous weekend parties. Nadia’s parents are seldom home and she lives in a lush penthouse apartment. Scarlett goes to the party, and that night, her entire world changes. Dan escorts Scarlett onto the gardened terrace and the two immediate click. After some conversation, Scarlett finds herself receiving her first real, perfect kiss. Only to have Dan stop, clutch his throat, and frantically try to pull something from his pant pocket. Scarlett searches, but there’s nothing there, and Dan suffocates right in front of Scarlett. Of course, Scarlett can’t return to St. Tabby’s. So instead, it’s off to Wakefield, the school her grandmother founded out in the middle of nowhere. At least she’s far removed from everyone that knows what happened to Dan. Scarlett believes she can start over at Wakefield. But then an anonymous note appears in her desk telling her they know it wasn’t her fault. With the help of her new friend, Taylor, they set out to solve the mystery of why and how Dan really died.

it’s really good and full of suspense. it sets you right up for a sequel, “Kisses and Lies,” the summary of which i will not post or else reveal some vital plot parts of “KMKM.” it’s major chick lit again, but i suppose if you read the House of Night and Blue Bloods books, anything is possible!

A cool site for book lovers i just found is:

    goodreads.com

There you can find recommended books and reviews by tons of other readers. You can rate books yourself, review them, and keep a list of all the books you’ve read. It’s really great for finding new books and hearing others opinions.

By the way some of the negative Twilight reviews are hilarious!

I really liked the Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray
Its a great series set in turn of the century Europe. Gemma turns 16 and her world turns upside down. Her mother is murdered right in front of her and shortly after her father sends her off to a finishing school where her mother had attended. There she finds that she is descended from an ancient coven of witches. This story is full of twist and turns and teen angst. A great ride! Enjoy!!!

    Rebel Angels
    A Sweet Far Thing

I am always looking for book recomendations because I read about 3 books a week. I was so excited when TST started this. These are some books that I absolutely loved and when I read a book it has to have some romance and it has to be fantasy. So if you like romantic fantasy here are a few. Some people have mentioned these but I figured it would give you that extra nudge to go ahead and read them.
A must read is Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead
The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause
Blood and Chocolate be Annette Curtis Klause
Blue Blood Series by Melissa De La Cruz
The Changeover by Margaret Mahy No one posted this one very good for younger audience.
Old Magic by Marianne Curley No one posted this one very good stand alone about magic.
    Wake by Lisa McMann
    Fade by Lisa McMann
I Heart You, You Haunt Me by Lisa Schroeder Written in verse form. Be prepared to cry. I recommend to read at least one book written in verse form.
Vampire Diaries Series by L.J. Smith
The Secret Circle Series by L.J. Smith
Poison Study Series by Maria V. Snyder
The Gemma Doyle Series by Libba Bray
Go on amazon and read the reviews about these books. That is how I choose most of my books and I havent been let down yet. Also the new amazon kindle is the best thing ever made for people who buy a lot of books. It is a book lovers best friend. I love it soo much I tell everyone about it.

I just read a really good series, known as The Luxe books, its 3 books: The Luxe, Rumors, and Envy, by Anna Godberson.

Its about the girls of the upper society of Manhattan at the beginning of the 20th century (Edward’s time period!!) It has less action than Twilight (and no mythical creatures), but I REALLy recommend it because it keeps you turning the page. Even Kallie wouldn’t be able to but the Luxe books down. ; ]

    CITY OF BONES
    CITY OF ASHES
    CITY OF GLASS
    by Cassandra Clare

I am a big BIG Twilight Series fan but Cassandra Clare’s trilogy really gives Twilight a run for it’s money.

    Jace Wayland versus Ed\ward Cullen?

    Tortured danger-loving self-hating wisecrack VERSUS tortured self-sacrficing self-hating masochist!

    I can’t tell who I love more!

Don’t start Cassandra Clare’s series unless you’re prepared to immerse yourself in a whole new addiction.
