Taylor Lautner is Jacob Black!

It has been confirmed in an article released by the Peninsula Daily News today that Taylor Lautner is playing Jacob Black in Twilight! The article also discusses some of the filming schedule, and confirms that they will be filming in LaPush!
Well #1 Taylor is HOT!!!! Look at how fabulous he is!!! i live near him, and he is even hottr in prson. .. I luv him more then edward… but who saw Harry pottr 4???

Robert Pattinson is so not edward. He is not good looking at all. they should had gotten someone with strong features and who dazzle people in real life, not some harry potter actor. Nothing against him or anything hes just not fit for the character in twilight. i was so disappointed in finding out who was going to be edward when i noticed it was Robert Pattinson…EWWWW…

American. But sorry, he is part Native American. Said it himself
in an interview. And enough about him not being good enough.

STOP ALREADY! i think Taylor will make a cute Jacob. his hair just needs 2 grow longer so we can put it in a ponytail. 🙂 But i don’t think bella’s right- she’s 2 beautiful and just not average enough.
They got a perfect Edward for the part and I think Taylor’ll do really well as Jacob, he isn’t “Native American but he looks close enough for it to not really matter
All I can say is that I doubt that this kid is going to grow to be 6’7″. And they would have to cast someone else to play him in the rest of the movies, because Bella describes him looking like he’s 25 since like the eighth chapter of New Moon. He’d have to age VERY quickly from being 16 to 25 overnight.
Something that has irritated me is knowing that Embry and Sam are being portrayed by Native American actors, and that they’re all supposed to be related. Just because they’re Natives, doesn’t mean that they’ll look alike from tribe to tribe. Additionally, the Native actor who was cast as Embry was originally cast as Jacob, and has since been replaced by some kid with a drop of Indian blood (allegedly, he is of French, German, and Dutch descent, with a little bit of Potawatomi and Ottawa Indian thrown in, tacked onto his resume to placate angry Twilighters, no doubt). Pretty much everyone I know is part Cherokee these days, so I’m not impressed. And interviewing one Quileute does not make you a part of the tribe.
Needless to see, this 5’9″ kid is not who I see turning into a “russet-colored” almost seven foot tall werewolf.

I think he looks too young to play Jacob. I liked Steven Strait, but he’s too old. Ugh. It’s a vicious situation. I’m a Jacob Fan (proudly, part of the .5%) and was devastated that…(sigh)…SHARK BOY was going to be playing the devilish dog.
I’m also not happy with Edward. Gaspard Ulleil looks more like Edward should but, again, too old. I’m truly upset.
I have to agree with YaYa, up above, that I’m always going to think about this guy as Sharkboy, and that can’t be helped. But I also really really dislike their choice for Jacob, and to be honest, I couldn’t care about the fact that he isn’t Native American, but the fact that he is miles away from what I imagined he would be.
Also, Robert Pattison? When I first thought of him as Edward, I was like … Okay, he isn’t nearly as beautiful as I thought he would be, but then he grew on me as well, and… He isn’t perfect, but who would be? It’s such a big shoe to step into.

I see why people don’t think Taylor was good for Jacob. But, I personally don’t see the point. If the actor is good they deserve the role. Just because they don’t fit the tiny details is no reason not to cast them.
Robert Pattinson is a fantastic actor and I think he’s the PERFECT Edward Cullen. This is how I pictured Edward before I ever saw any of the casting.
But, I think Taylor Lautner is going to be amazing. True, New Moon does say he has a significant change. But make-up is easily applied and special angles can make him look taller.

I can’t wait for the movie and breaking dawn!! I love these books so much…. i was expecting (or rather hoping) that steven strait was going to play jacob, but mostly only becuase he looked like jacob with his long hair lol. When i saw that Taylor was playing him, my heart sank, but i saw video’s on youtube of him, and now im all for him!!

Taylor Lautner has grown his hair for the part but i think he will defo need more muscles for new moon and eclipse! but edward is soooo wrong. He doesnt look muscely enough for a start. edward is supposed 2 be strong and well built. i think they should have cast someone, looks wise, like chace crawford, he looks like an edward! dont you think?

Im kind of mad that they have Kristen Stewart playing Bella, I saw her in The Messengers and she wasnt all that great. And Robert definetly does NOT by any means fit the description of Edward…Edward is described to be a sort of mysteriously sexy bad boy, and Robert just doesnt cut it. And I can see where some people are coming from about it being offensive that Taylor is playing Jacob because he isnt Native American, because this is one of the few chances that we have to show Native Americans not in teepee’s and huts and walking around in deer skin clothes, this is going to show that they are like everyone else and the person representing this isnt even Native American.
i agree with sara. she is right. many people have been told that natives live in teepee’s and its about time other people know that natives live like normal humans. but i love in the book how they describe jacob black and his family and friends. but most of all when you read the book its like a movies playing in your head, its very descriptive for the readers. I Love This Book Sooo Much. i really thank the writer.
Damn, can you just stop saying that Robert and Taylor are not good actors ?! If the people who made the movie picked them, it’s probably because they “fit” in the role ! Stop top please, it’s really getting on my nerves !
Everyone has their own image of what Jacob and Edward should look like. Robert WITH the makeup on does look good – is he what I had pictured? No, but I think he’ll do well. As for Taylor, I think they picked a good image of what I thought of in my head BEFORE he morphes. It will be interesting IF they continue to produce the rest of the books to movies on how they’ll make him grow into himself. In Twilight he’s a young still growing teenager. It isn’t until the following year that has a growth spurt. So I think they cast Jacob well so far.

i think robert patterson is really ugly(no offence), he’s just not a good edward. they made jacob black look way hotter than him. if they can’t get the male lead right, who knows what the movie will be like. i’m afraid to go see the movie.

Taylor Lautner actually has Native American is him, and he has the perfect skin colour for Jacob Black. I mean who care’s if he’s not a full Native actor, that doesn’t matter, it’s not like people are going to notice on the screen. The guy that is playing Edward is British but you don’t see people making a huge deal out of that. Taylor is tall and very well built already which is perfect for New Moon and Eclipse. Plus he’s 16 which is Jacob’s age for New Moon and Eclipse.
I say he’s a wonderful choice.

I think the whole cast of Twilight is good. Mostly for whos playing Edward and Jacob. Robert Pattinson is playing Edward (he was in a Harry Potter movie) and he is like the hottest vampire I have ever heard of! Taylor Lautner is so hot too! He plays Jacob. I love them both. I’m reading New Moon right now! it’s kind of sad.

by the way people should know that he wears a wig in the movie, a bit to long for my taste but still cute also hes trying to buff up,l even more if thats possible and thirdly he will be in all movies he has a contract and fourthly i read that he is caucasian and gets his tan from sun tiime…. see perfect jake but he does have soome native american ni him so relax people hes perfect the way he is. Im not sure how they will manage the height though. LOL they have to make him about a whole foot taller for it to work

At first I was kinda skeptical I mean, Alice is a Red-head.. wtf? But it’s a movie and like all movies in our day and era, the special effects are going to be mind boggling. So let’s just sit back and see how the producers work their magic and pray to god that they don’t ruin the mind numbingly awesome book series. Personally I think they’ll do a good job of it.

You know what’s funny, I didn’t have any problems with any of the guys casted. I thought they were all just about perfect for their roles. But I thought the person who plays Bella might be a litlle too strong, probably because I saw her in Stick It (where she was ripped). Esme is all right, I suppose. Alice is a little off but I haven’t seen her act so I’m not sure. And I always thought of Rosalie as Rachel McAdams, so maybe that’s where my problem with her is. Though I did see Nikki Reed in Thirteen and she has the right amount of attitude.
I think Taylor is perfect for Jake… circa Twilight. Don’t forget, Jake wasn’t always the enormously tall, enormously built werewolf that we know, and in some cases love, from the more recent books. Initially he was, well, a little kid, short, cute and innocent. So Taylor works for me.
The problem is what will happen when Jake grows up/becomes a werewolf. I somehow doubt that Taylor is going to spring up a foot in the next few years. Therefore I think it would be a pretty good idea to get a different actor for next time. I mean, if we were going by the book, Jake should be looking around 25 in the next movie. I think it would be perfectly acceptable, therefore, to go get a different, older actor.
Not that this will ever happen. But, I can dream. For Twilight, though, anyway, I’m okay with this guy.
ok…i guess he will be an ok Jacob Black, but i much rather prefer Steven Strait. For the first movie he is fine because he is smaller in Twilight(due to him not becoming a werewolf yet), but if they come out with New Moon and Ecslipe then they need to try to get Steven Strait, because he is taller and more built.
