Jacob + Nessie = Jassie

Aug 20th, 2008 | By | Category: Featured Articles, Question of the Week

For this week’s Question of the Week we wanted to ask you a question about our celebrity couple Jassie!

How do you feel about Jacob imprinting on Renesme? And, as a personal favor… when did you figure out Jacob had imprinted?

The art work is from Nehvah.

  1. Becca says:

I LOVE the fact Jacob imprinted on Renesmee, although the fact it had happened didn’t register until a few pages into Bella’s second book…i’m a lil slow like that =]
I wasn’t weirded out by the fact and shock only lasted a second because it means Jacob can finally move on from Bella and stop fawnin over her but it keeps him in her life as a friend which is what she wanted. It also keeps peace between the Cullens and the werewolves (shape shifters…whichever name it is now =]). I loved Bella’s reaction to the situation too, it was just so protective and motherly.
The fact that Edward and Bella know, and trust, the future guy for their daughters is cool too….no awkward situations with overprotective parents quizzing prospective boyfriends….lucky Renesmee! =D

  2. kaity says:

i luv the picture 4 the question of the week with jacob and renesme. where did u get it?

  3. Katie S. says:

I think it is very cool, but still VERY creepy! lol and i didnt find out till Bella did. I am very unobservent!

  4. Denise says:

First i thought it was super, super creepy. And i really didn’t like it. I was like “oh my god. NO.” But that was probably also because i wasn’t happy with Breaking Dawn in general. Now, when i was done with Breaking dawn i really thought about it and couldn’t bring myself to not like it. So, i guess now i am okay with Jacob imprinting on Nessie. I mean i guess i am glad that he finally found somebody, and i’m glad Nessie found somebody. Though Jacob is really annoying sometimes -_- Makes me just wanna slap him >.< heh.
But i have a question… If jacob and Nessie would have a kid (if they could have one. I dont remember if it says in Breaking dawn anything about that. If it does, my bad.) what would that be? a vampire-human-werewolf? o_o a human that drinks blood and turns into a wolf at night?….no idea x] haha ANYWAY.
When i read that Bella was pregnant with Nessie i thought that Jacob would imprint on her. And then whoopsie he did haha.
    :]

and i love the little picture of Nessie and Jake. so cute :3

  5. Laura says:

When I found out that Jacob imprinted on Nessie I wanted to kill the dog! She died for that baby and he thought that he had a ‘wolfish claim’ on her? I thought that it was nasty like when Quil imprinted on Claire. It took me a while to get used to the fact that Jacob had inprinted, but by the end of the Breaking Dawn I was okay with it. Team Kassie. I did not realize that Jacob had imprinted on Nessie until until Bella said it. At that point I was to worried about Bella to care about Jacob and I was just so glad that he had decided not to kill most of the Cullens. Loved Breaking Dawn! When Jacob wanted to kill most of the Cullens that was when I decided that I did not like Jacob. I am Team Edward al the way!

  6. Barbara says:

I think that it was horrible. How old did they say the half human/half vampire boy was that Alice brought in at the end? I don’t know if his physical age was mentioned but I believe that he was referred to a child and he was 150 years old. That means that not only will (and it pains me to say or write the ridiculous name) Renesmee grow quickly and pretty much miss out on a childhood but she will suddenly stop and remain a child, physically, forever. This kind of sucks for Jacob. No matter how much you love them, wouldn’t it be kind of disgusting to marry and have sex with someone who appears to be a child?

Not only is the relationship disturbing, but soon Bella will need to leave town because she is not aging and whats-her-name is aging very quickly, This means that as much of an idiot as Charlie appears to be (how many of us would allow something so drastic to happen to our cihld and NOT ASK QUESTIONS!) he will soon lose his daughter and granddaughter. Therefore, Jacob will leave his home, father, friends, pack, etc. to go with them.

I don’t think that Stephenie really thought this through.

  7. emseacullen says:

Hahaha! That was so funny – Is everything alright between you now? Lol! To answer your personal favour, it did seem obvious when Jacob imprinted on Renesmee because he was describing the feeling of being totally devoted to her above everthing else in his life. All his other concerns became nothing compared to her. I love the fact that he saw the same chocolate brown eyes as Bella’s. When I read it i knew he was imprinting but i just couldn’t believe it. I was stunned, it was actually the last thing I would have expected when Jacob was so ready to kill her and so filled with hate that he was ready to die to murder Renesmee. So at first it was not expected but the final page of Jacobs Book made it crystal clear, sorry Kassie!
What do I think of the relationship? Well, a boy in his late teens imprinting on a 0-day-old baby seems slightly wrong. I found it a little wrong with Claire and Embry as well because although he is being a carer for the child until it becomes old enough, he is waiting to become her lover in the end – there’s something not quite right about that. While you’re reading it, it seems completely natural and lovely because of Stephanie Meyer’s description but when your not reading from Jacobs perspective, the more you think about the facts…hmmm. There’s part of me that thinks it was a nice thing to happen though.I did like the fact that Jacob finally has someone to love who will love him back. I grew to really like him in Breaking Dawn and felt sad that he couldn’t move on from Bella. At one point i thought he might get together with Leah. I think in a way Renesmee is some kind of substitute for not being able to be with Bella. Renesmee needed Jacob’s support to survive and i think it is wonderful that he loves her so much. Unlike Edward and Bella I find it easier to picture Jacob as a parent. The imprint kept Jacob in the Cullen family which pleased me because he makes everything much more fun! I love how Edward and him have private conversations in their heads – with a little more time i think they could become best friends!

  8. Am says:

Jacob: “‘There’s nothing romantic about it at all, not for Quil, not now. It’s so hard to describe. it’s not like love at first sight, really. It’s more like … gravity moves. When you see her, suddenly it’s not the earth holding you here anymore. She does. And nothing matters more than her. And you would do anything for her, be anything for her… You become whatever she needs you to be, whether that’s a protector, or a lover, or a friend, or a brother.” Eclipse pg. 176

“Everything inside me came undone as I stared at the tiny porcelain face of the half vampire, half human baby. All the lines that held me to my life were sliced apart in swift cuts, like clipping the strings to a bunch of balloons. Everything that made me who I was … disconnected from me in that second …. and floated into space. I was left drifintg. A new string held me where I was. Not one string, but a million. Not strings, but steel cables. A million steel ables all tying me to one thing to the very center of the universe. …. The gravity of the earth no longer tied me to the place where I stood. It was the baby girl in the blond vampire’s arms that held me here now.” BD pg. 360

I don’t think the two descriptions could have been more closely written. Since SM had already given a description of what imprinting looked like, I think she was saying “hey guys he’s imprinting” by giving pretty much that same description again.

  9. Wray says:

Since I already answered part of the question when I commented on the last podcast, I’ll paste it here too. But I did want to add that I loved the way the imprinting scene was written. It brought everything together and made sense out of all the craziness. Although I knew right away what had happened, I can understand why some did not. So much was happening in that chapter, and people were probably reading so fast that it might have taken awhile for them to realize.

    Here’s my earlier post:

    Hey Guys!

Long or not I loved your podcast! So much happened in the first half of Breaking Dawn that it had my head spinning too. But I wanted to help you guys out by reminding everyone why Stephenie wrote the imprinting scene the way she did. In Eclipse, Chapter 8, p.176 Jacob is talking to Bella about Quil imprinting on Claire and he explains,

“It’s so hard to describe. It’s not like love at first site, really. It’s more like…gravity moves. When you see her, suddenly it’s not the earth holding you here anymore. She does. And nothing matters more than here. And you you would do anything for her, be anything for her…”

Stephenie did describe exactly what imprinting was like – a sudden irrevocable detachment of all the the things that were important in your life. One new bond replaces the old ones with gravitational force. To one person.

    That’s intense.

    Love you guys!

  10. meghan says:

I loved that Jacob imprinted on Nessie. I think she is just soo adorable. I have always been on team jacob so I’m so happy that he got his own happy ending. I figured out that he had imprinted on her when he was walking in the park after Edward heard Nessie’s thoughts.

  11. Tiffany says:

Okay. So when I first read the chapter when Jacob shows up at the Cullen household to see if Bella really is sick or not, I had mixed feelings. First of all, I thought that Bella was actually sick — only because of the baby and how fast it grew on Isle Esme. Second, I had a hunch tingling from my nose to my toes that Jacob was going to imprint on this baby.

Throught the series, I had always thought that there was some kind of spark between Bella and Jacob — not just because they loved eachother, but something entirely different — that was keeping them from being apart. Now, I know that Bedward never did the dirty deed until their honeymoon, but I really thought that the reason Jella couldn’t be apart was because of a piece of the two of them tied together…not just in love. Its kind of hard to explain, but it makes sense in my head.

So when Jacob stayed throughout the endeavor of Bella’s pain, etc., the hunch grew even deeper, and, for once, I was actually eager to read something about Jacob. At the point when he couldn’t take anymore, and drove off with Edwards Aston Martin — when he was looking for someone to imprint on — I realized, before he did, that he was looking for someone like Bella. He couldn’t let go of her. Every girl had the wrong eye color, the wrong hair color. The wrong facial expressions. No one was good enough for him. Except Bella. At the point when Jacob returned and the Bella dropped the dreaded cup of blood, and then she was paralyzed, the baby was suffocating, i almost lost my feeling of Jacob finally imprinting on the kid. He was sooo intuned with Bella’s heart, and so worried about keeping her alive…then they moved the baby. All that love and committment left. The hunch returned.

After Edward told Jacob to just leave — as he was trying to save his beloved — then Jacob went through that whole craze of deciding how to kill the thing, who he would risk killing if they got in the way, definitely taking out Blondie, etc, etc, etc…I was laughing throughout this whole scene…I knew it was going to happen…

So when little Renesmee poked her little face over Rosalie’s shoulder, and probed her deep, chocolate brown eyes over Jacob…gravity flipped, and flopped and was suddenly revolving around this little spawn.

That last page in the Book of Jacob was amazing…I don’t think I’ll ever look at Jacob the same way. Actually, I’m beginning to like him…a bit. But how it was written. How this little girl, this half vampire, half human child was suddenly that piece of Bella come alive. The reason Jacob never imprinted on Bella, or anyone else for that matter, because little Renesmee was in the scene already…just not playing a role. She was always there, with Bella…and Jacob, though he knew what he had to do, couldn’t hurt this child…this Baby whom he had to protect against all odds…

I’m happy, somewhat, with the pairing. I’m definitely relieved that Jacob finally imprinted, and that Bella and Edward are free from his harassment, and can live their eternity in bliss. Nessie is going to be one spoiled little chica. Most definitely. However, I don’t like it as much as i would if Bella might have carried Nessie to term…the whole nine months like is usual…I think if Nessie would have grown slowly like a human child, and then reached immortality at 20 or whatever, it would have been better for Jacob, Bella, and Edward…instead, she’s going to reach maturity at 7 and a half years old!! Thats got to have Bedward freaking out! I mean, does Nessie know that Jacob imprinted on her? What will Jacob do when she’s finally old enough for that romantic relationship…would they bring their bond to that? Or would he stay like a big brother to her??

I have sooo many questions for this…I kind wish that Stephenie Meyer would continue the series through the eyes of Jacob and Renesmee…just to see how their relationship grows and what not….

Anywho, sorry for the length…love the podcast! Keep it up!!

  12. Teri says:

When Jacob imprinted on Renesmee (I’m with Bella, I don’t like the nickname Nessie, lol), I was shocked. But after finishing the book and thinking about it, I think it made perfect sense for Jacob to imprint on her.
I see it like this— Jacob was so in love with Bella, but couldn’t have her. Even though he hadn’t imprinted on Bella, there was still a strong pull between the two of them. In a world without Edward, I think there’s no doubt that Bella and Jacob would have been together. Outside from Edward, Jacob would have been the closest thing to a soul mate for Bella. I believe that the reason Jacob didn’t (couldn’t) imprint on Bella is because she had already met Edward before she runs into Jacob, and Edward and Bella were destined to be together from the moment they first met.
I think it is extremely significant that Renesmee has Bella’s eyes. Jacob and Renesmee loosely remind me of Snape and Harry in Harry Potter. In HP, it is constantly mentioned that Harry has his mother’s eyes. In Book 7, we find out that this is important because Snape was in love with Lily Potter and though he hated Harry, the fact that Harry had his mother’s eyes made Snape risk his life to protect him. Consequently, while Jacob originally hates Renesmee because she “killed” the girl he loved, all it takes is one look into her eyes, which were the same as Bella’s, to change everything and make him want to protect her. Jacob looks at this baby, who has the eyes of the woman he loves, and he can no longer feel hatred towards her, only love. I think this is what triggers his imprinting. Jacob cannot be with the woman that he loves under normal human circumstances, so the supernatural circumstances makes him imprint on the “next best thing”…a mini-Bella who is free to be his.

I figured out Jacob imprinted on Renesmee the moment it happened at the end of Book 2. I thought it was pretty obvious. The whole bit about the shifting of the universe and such was a dead give-away because that’s how imprinting is described in Eclipse.
But don’t feel bad, my mom didn’t realize Jacob imprinted on Renesmee until Bella found out in the next chapter. She said she just thought that Jacob looked at the baby and saw that it had Bella’s eyes and decided that he could never kill it. She said she thought Jacob was thinking, “Ok, Bella’s dead, so I’m going to make a vow to myself to watch after her child, even if it is half bloodsucker.”

  13. becki says:

when u find out its a girl i gasped and put the book down because i was all OMG jakes gonna imprint and sure enough he did, lucky geuss, right? so i knew he had at the end of the book of jacob.
i dont see any thing wrong with jake imprinting on nessie, like edward said if jacob thought of nessie in a sertan way at the age shes at jake woun’t still be alive.

    -becki
(p.s. i love u guys! and i thought it was wayy funny when kassie hung up!)

  14. Marci (major obsessed) says:

I figured it out right when he saw her as a newborn and the world was spinning for him. I totally screamed because I knew he would finally be over Bella and stop bugging her and with Bella being a vampire she woulndn’t like jake anymore so I was really happy for him with Renesmee because now Jake could be part of the family and the treaty could get abolished.

  15. M Patzz says:

First of all, I’d just like to say that the picture shown is sooo adorable! I love it! As for an answer to the question of the week, I have a few different opinions. At first, I was shocked that Jacob had imprinted on Bella and Edward’s daughter, but then I was just happy that Jacob had moved on from his love for Bella. Now he could focus on one person who was actually available and could love him back the way he wanted her to. When I think about it, it’s a little weird to me that Jacob now loves Bella’s daughter after he loved Bella. I wonder if he’ll tell Renessme that when she’s older? That would be an awkward conversation. I remember a conversation that Bella and Jacob had at the end of Eclipse where Bella mentioned Jacob possibly imprinting. He was doubtful and Bella said that when he did imprint, she’d probably end up being jealous. I just think it’s kinda funny that she might end up being a little jealous of her own daughter. But after I thought about it a lot, I found it just kind of perfect that Jacob found someone as beautiful and completely adorable as Renessme. I know that he’ll be really happy with her and she seems to already really like him, which is a good sign 🙂

As for part two of the question, I discovered Jacob imprinted as soon as it happened. I remembered Stephenie’s description of what it felt like when it happened and instantly gasped, knowing what was happening. It’s like a glowing and suddenly she’s the most important thing in your world. You live to protect her and make her happy. And as soon as he made eye contact, I knew. My friend didn’t notice and I filled her in. She understood once she read it over. I just think it’s great that Jacob found someone to imprint on that will make him happy. I felt horrible that he was hurt seeing Bella and Edward together when he couldn’t stop loving her. Hopefully things will be better now that he’s found his true love.

  16. kayla says:

Well, unlike Kassie :), I figured out that Jacob imprinted on the last page of Jacob, but I didn’t figure out what was happening until I had read the whole page. Then I was like OMG! He just imprinted on her!, I thought it was a little weird at first, even though its nothing romantic yet. its just a little weird you know, “ I used to be in love with your mom , and act like a freaky stalker!, then there was the time I tricked her to kiss me!”, “but don’t worry i’m I love with you now!”, yeah that’s a little strange , but i’m still happy that Jacob has found someone else and is over Bella FINNALY, but it really got on my nerves how he was acting like he was the kids mother, and not letting Bella hardly even get close to her. I wanted to slap him and tell him that it’s not his kid lol 🙂

(p.s wile I was listing to the podcast I was actually thinking “oh I wonder if Kassie even realized that he imprinted on her!”, i’m sorry you had to be surprised like that but I thought is was obvious)

  17. Luna Eclipse says:

YAY! It makes me so happy! Bella got her happy ending, and so did Jacob! I really didn’t think that was possible, I thought that either Jacob or Edward had to die! Before reading Breaking Dawn, I was VERY team jacob, but I’m really happy about how it all worked out, it couldn’t be better!

  18. Amanda H. says:

When I first realized Jacob had imprinted (I realized he had imprinted at the end of his book by the way) I was completely shocked. However, since we had seen how Quil interacted with Claire I wasn’t horrified at all. Once I got over the shock I was very happy because, like Jacob said, they could be a happy family now. I was also thrilled that Jacob loved Bella in a strictly friendly way now. I have always liked Jacob (although I am Team Edward all the way!), so I was glad he finally imprinted on someone and would be able to stay in Bella’s life as her best friend.

  19. Git 'r Done! (Amy) says:

I wanted to SCREAM! This book had dished way too many really bizarre things at me already (the pregnancy floored me, and when Edward asked Jacob to shack up with Bella), and the shock of the imprint was too much. I kept saying, “Jacob imprinted on Bella’s mutant baby??? WHAT???” I mean, it all works out, I’m cool with it as a whole. It was weird when Edward called him “son” towards the end of the book. I’m sure I’ll get used to it. I didn’t know he imprinted on her until he started talking about cutting the strings. I have many friends who knew he’d imprint on her when they realized that EJ was Renesmee. I’m not that bright, I guess.

  20. Christine says:

I think it’s cute that Jacob has Renesmee now. It fits, and since I’m re-reading it right now, I can understand why Jacob couldn’t keep away from Bella. This just fits, and it’s perfect. The puzzle is now complete.
And, as for the second question, I had no idea that Jacob had imprinted on Nessie until Bella noticed the way he looks at her. I guess it’s because I was reading too fast to actually realize he was imprinting. I thought he just found Bella in this baby… Haha, I was as clueless as Kassie was. 🙂

  21. Laura says:

I never saw it coming, but after it did happen then everything made sense. Fate was at work from the start. Jacob was suppossed to be near Bella all the time so he could get his happily ever after, all his suffering paid off in the end. I don’t find it creepy, like Jacob said he doesn’t look at her like that at all. I think it’s really sweet and cute.
As for when I found out, I found out as I started reading the page where the imprinting happens. I called my friend and screamed OMG!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Nia says:

Honestly, I don’t mind about Jacob imprinting on Renesmee. I think it is quite an unhealthy relationship, but not because she’s currently a child…I mean, when there’s the possibility of the phrase “Your Mom didn’t kiss like that…” being uttered at all, it’s hardly healthy! But after seeing Quil and Claire at the beginning of Jacob’s book, and Jacob’s demeanour later on in Book 3, I can see that Jacob is like Renesmee’s nanny more than anything romantic, and she recognizes him as hers, so I think it’s adorable, and I’m glad that Jacob gets his happy ending.

And to the second question – I realised that Jacob had imprinted when he first saw Renesmee. Sorry Kassie!

  23. Katie says:

I already commented on the question of the week but I was just thinking on your last podcast you were talking about why Bella was eating so much eggs and did the eggs mean somthing. I just thought maybe stephanie chose the eggs as Bella pregnacy food obssesion to get us thinking of Bellas eggs inside her and another hint that she was pregnant. I could be totally wrong but i was just thinking about so I thought I would say somthing.

Luv u guys keep up the great work!

  24. Kourtnee B. says:

I’m kinda like stuck with it. Becuase u know werewolves and vamps are like sworn enemies and she’s half. But it doesn’t bother me im glad that Jacob is finally happy. I love the book. I love Renesmee’s name its soo one of a kind. I figured it out before Jacob did, the whole time i was thinking she’s not having a boy its a girl. And when Jacob said he felt something warm touch him when Edward handed Renesmee to Bella i just thought he’s gonna imprint on her. And when Bella realized that and she was sooo angry, that part was just so funny to me. And the fact that none of the Cullens were going to stop her just made it even more funny to me. The whole time i was reading the book i was on edge. During Book 1 i knew she was gonna get pregnant. And in Book 2 i was sooo scared and worried that Bella was going to die. In Book 3 I was afraid that everyone was gonna die because of the Volturi(whom i do NOT like at all! Especially Jane) and when they were telling Renesmee bye and telling Jake to run with her i cried because i thought it was over for Bella. But i kinda wouldve liked if SM wouldve let us hear like Alice’s thoughts on the pregnancy as well as all the other Cullens’.

  25. Jennifer O. says:

I loved the fact that Jacob imprinted on Renesme. I am a huge Jacob fan and was so glad that he finally was able to be happy. He deserves to have someone to love and someone that will love him in return. I don’t think it’s weird because he does not have romantic feelings for her yet…those will come in time. I think it’s great that Jacob and Bella will always be “family”, just like it was always meant to be.

As for when I realized that the imprinting had occurred….
I finished Jacob’s book really late one night. When I first read the last page, I was like “awe that’s sweet he loves her”, not realizing what had just happened. Later that night (around 3am) I awoke from my sleep and literally sat up in the bed, and I was like “O my crap, Jacob imprinted on Renesme!”. I don’t know what made me realize it, especially since I was sound asleep, guess I was dreamin’ about Breaking Dawn!!!

  26. Kirsty says:

I LOVED it! I was Happy that Jacob has finaly found someone to help him forget about Bella. I saw it coming from the start it just seemed obvious to me that that was whats was going to happen. I Knew the minute i read that last paragraph that he had imprinted (sorry Kassie) still I was a bit shocked when i read it at the emotion that he felt towards her, i did not find it weird or wrong like some other people have though because he really cares about her and I am really happy that he will be around all the time with the Cullens 😀

  27. Angie G says:

The second they said that it was a girl i KNEW Jacob was going to imprint on Renesmee! (btw which is a horrible name!)
I didn’t think it was possible to NOT know that he imprinted at the end of the chapter, the whole bit with the steel cables being connected to this ONE person, sorry Cassie you are my favorite on the show because you crack me up but HOW DID YOU NOT KNOW!!! LOL =) you poor thing!
I personally didn’t like the Renessme/Jacob thing. I thought it was an easy way to fix all the problems between Bella and Jacob and the pack wanting to kill the baby. I felt so bad for Bella that Jacob imprinted on Renesmee because Bella didn’t get a chance to have her daughter all to herself, before she even gets to meet her child Bella is told Renesmee is already claimed by another. Even though it is not Jacobs fault I still felt like Jacob robbed her of that part of being a mother! And Nessy is a stupid nickname! But that’s what you get for naming her Renesmee! UGH! I am a 100% teem Switzerland and I wanted Jacob happy and imprinted on someone but I felt like this was such a “convenient” fix for the loose ends. And I REALLY hope Stephenie does not continue the story from Renesmee’s perspective. I know I would end up reading it anyway but I hate it when authors continue their books with the “next generation” they are never as good.
oh btw I was pissed that Bella wanted to name the baby *if a boy* EJ. At first when I thought it was Edward Junior I was excited and thought it was so sweet and cute that she wanted to name her baby after the love of her life. HOWEVER, when I realized it was Edward Jacob I wanted to reach into the book and slap Bella around for a while. Yes I understand that he is your best friend but THAT IS MESSED UP! You can’t name your child after another guy that you once almost hooked up with! Poor Edward! I could only imagine if I had a baby and my husband told me he wanted to name our baby girl partly after his best friend who I KNOW wants him, I would probably rip his eyes out. THAT’S STUPID! If Bella wants to make Jacob feel included in the baby’s life she can make him the flipping god father! And even ranting about this is making me want to strangle Bella again!
Sorry this was a very random ramble!

  28. Stephanie says:

Ok well I think that it wasnt a BIG surprise because Jacob had to find a way to forget Bella. Its not that odd that it happens to be her daughter……………..In a way it is a little creepy that its a baby but Quil also imprinted on someone younger than him. I really loved the idea of Jacob and Renesmee.

I didnt catch it ontill Bella said it…………..I felt a bit dumb not to see it. When re-read over it I saw that I was wrong, because I just thought that he was going to accept her and see that she was not going to be anything that he should worry about.

  29. Sarah Garcia says:

Okay so, I absolutely loved how Jacob imprinted on Renesmee and how he didn’t die like a lot of people were saying he would. It’s really cute though, to think about how (when Renesmee’s older) Jacob will be all like, “Nessie, I love you more than anything else in the world, but to be honest, you stink…” I just like thinking about that. And as far as your personal favor goes, I found out when Jacob was talking about the strings and his pull for bella wasn’t there anymore and I was like, hyperventilating in fetal position on top of my bed. I had a bunch of my riends over that night and it was about four in the morning after the midnight release party. None of my friends were at that part yet, so I had a spaz attack because I couldn’t scream or tell them. One of my friends, Annie, was trying to be funny by telling me to “go bite a pillow,” but she, too, had a spaz attack the next day when read it and called me…we screamed for about twenty minutes. Anyway, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your podcast and I can’t wait to hear the next one!
    xoxoxoxoxoxo,
    Sarah

  30. Angie G says:

    OH BTW BTW! Lol
My mom totally thought Rosalie was going to steel the baby when she went down stairs and that her doing that would be the main plot for the rest of the book LOL! I was busting up when she told me this!
Also my friend told me with the whole pregger thing AND jacob imprinting on Bellas kid she said it felt like she was reading a Fan Fic and I really agree with it. I felt this book was so random and a lot of it felt forced to me. I wonder how much of it SM had planned from when she finished Twilight.

  31. Hayley says:

At first I was shocked when I read the very last page of the Jacob book. I think his chapter title “There are no words for this” was very appropriate. I was literally speechless when I read this part. I knew immediately after reading that page what had happened, but I didn’t know what to think of it.
I think that they are cute together and I am glad that Jacob and Bella’s relationship is now how it always should be. It is fitting that Jacob would imprint on Bella’s daughter because he loved her for so long. I am also glad that Jacob will always be around and that he is part of the family. But it also seems a little weird sometimes. I think that Renesmee is smarter than Jacob in some ways. He is going to have to go back to high school to keep up with her lol. I hope that Stephenie writes more about them as a couple because right now I can’t imagine them dating or anything, I just imagine them as like a big brother/little sister.
Sorry if I started to ramble!
I love the new website design!

I thought it was kind of weird and shocking at first about Jacob imprinting on Renesmee, but then I thought it was cute. I was just so happy that Jacob finally found someone. I love Jacob so much and it was just good that he wasn’t still caught up in getting over Bella and not having anyone.
But I didn’t realize that Jacob imprinted on her until Bella was realizing it herself. I figured it out before Bella actually said the words out loud to Jacob, but it was right before that that I figured it out. I guess I was slow and didn’t really catch on to it. I’m stupid, oh well.

    it’s creepy…
    10 years later:
Jacob: “hey nessie by the way, i was once in love with your mom….”
    Nessie: “…”

    lol
yah, i think i just sat there with my mouth hanging open once i realized that jacob had impritned.

and i’m with kassie-i didn’t realize he had imprinted until bella screamed at him (i know, i’m slow!!!) go kassie!!!!!!!!

  34. Paola says:

Coming into breaking dawn I wasn’t a big Jacob supported but I still wanted him to get his happy ending but not with Bella, I felt that in a way he was cheated he gets second best, I didn’t think it fair for Jacob, kind of since he can’t have Bella he’ll get her daughter very weird. I’m getting over the weirdness but still it just wrong. like the first post said I can’t imagine how awkward their conversation is going to go when he tells nessie how he met her mother and how he wanted her. I figure that he was going to imprint on Bella’ baby, before Bella had her baby when Jacob was musing as to why Bella needed him to be around also the part where Bella says that Jacob is meant to be part of her family was huge give away. as I soon as i read that I was like yep she is having a girl and Jake is going to imprint on her.

  35. McKell says:

Okay I’m not tooting my horn, but as soon as Bella said her period was late, I knew Jake would imprint on the baby, though i didn’t ever consider the gender but i knew it haha! I honestly think its soo cute! I just thought were Renesmee was so adorable and deserved a great friend, and later a… good friend…. haha. I was just thinking how sad it would be because Edward is a cute little daddy, but can you picture him playing dolls with her? “Daddy change her clothes!” Edward: “uhh.. ummm… you can do it…”
haha so i just thought it was so cute that she could have someone like Jacob to take care of her, and well i just love Jacob, so i thought he deserves someone as precious as Nessie.

  36. Sana says:

I realized Jacob has imprinted when he stood between Bella and Renesmee after Bella returned from her first hunting trip. I loved that she got furious and attacked him. Haha! I’ve never really liked Jacob, but he’s tolerable now once I read the section he narrates. Like Bella, I found the imprinting disgusting at first, but then as I read on, I started to see him as a really concerned older brother, so once again he was tolerable

  37. Sara says:

I’ve been reading other people’s answers now and I remember the exact part where I figured out Jacob printed on Renesmee, it was when Bella was describing how Jacob was looking at Nessie (Like a blind man seeing the sun for the first time). That was when I was like “oh my gosh he imprinted on her” O.o And then Bella confirmed it out loud. But yeah, when I was reading the end of Jacob’s book I hadn’t been thinking who Jacob would imprint on; I wasn’t thinking about imprinting at all I just thought, like Kassie, that Jacob was thinking he saw Bella in her and just couldn’t bear to kill her.

  38. C.A.Y. says:

    Hellow TST people!

Ok, I don’t think that there is anything wrong about Jacob and Renesmee (although I can’t say the same for her name). In Eclipse, Stephenie Meyer purposefully included Quil and Claire to prepare us for Jake’s imprinting. I for one understood what Stephenie was trying to say ever since she introduced imrinting. When I read about Quil and Claire, I didn’t see anything romantic about their relationship (even before Jacob explained). Quil was what she needed him to be, and the same goes for Jacob and Renesmee. All I can see is Jacob being her best friend or even big brother. Nothing wrong or sick about that as a lot of people are saying.

But, I was still shocked that he chose to imprint on her. Of course, there were speculations that Jake would imprint on a vampire (that, I was prepared for) but I did not expect a hybrid. Then again, that made so much sense. It all fit together perfectly. Jacob couldn’t stay away from Bella because he had “imprinted” on one of her eggs (yeah, I know that sounded weird). In a way, they were meant to be together. It’s just not in a romantic way, though. Who would have thought, huh? Jacob’s been making out with his mother-in-law all along! Ha, sorry about that. I couldn’t help it.

Anyway, I figured out that Jacob had imrpinted on Renesmee right after Rosalie took her downstairs. Jacob had said that there was nothing that held him to Bella after she had givin birth. He felt some sort of tug that made him want to go downstairs. That was when I knew for certain. Of course, the last page just assured my suspicion. I myself thought that it was going to be a boy, so I would have caught it sooner if I knew it was going to be a girl, though.

    And… that’s it!

Absolutely adore your podcast, can’t wait until the next show, and I love you all!

    -Chelsea Y.

P.S. I love your new layout! This is the first time I’ve seen it since about a week and a half ago. It’s so modern and sophisticated. Again, love it!

  39. Koree B. says:

I figured it out that he was gonna imprint on her WAAYY before she was even born. I mean it was so obvious(to me) that Bella was gonna have a girl simply because they kept calling the baby “he”; that was a dead giveaway! I remember reading book 2 just thinking Jacob is soo gonna imprint on the baby & when he did I cried with joy and happiness because I’ve always felt bad for Jacob and I really wanted him to get his happy ending so I was extremely pleased when he did. I love him and Renesmee aka Nessie together and it’s just perfect how everything worked out. I honestly was annoyed that Bella was upset by his imprinting on her but of course she came to be ok with it. I read an interview with Stephenie saying that the most likely narrators for the Twilight characters would be Renesmee or Leah. After reading BD I really would love a continuation of Jacob and Renesmee’s story; that to me would be the best thing.

Overall, I loved the whole book; as should any Twilight fan.

  40. ashley says:

At first I thought it was creepy I mean he loved bella and then her daughter!:OMG! moment but he does care about her so I’m okay with it. I figured at the end of his book. When he looked her in the eyes I thought he etheir fell in love with her or was imprinted on.

  41. victoria says:

when I found out that jacob had imprinted on nessie, I almost barfed. its kind of gross when you really think about it. by the end of the book I was happy that he had because if he hadn’t, he wouldn’t have been there to stop the volturi with the rest of the wolves because edward would’ve kicked him out. =)

  42. Allegra B. says:

I honestly don’t know, i geusse it was to be expected, because i remember a while ago I was listing to one of you’re podcasts and I can’t remember who said it but i do remember that soemwon shot out the idea that Bella would give the baby to Jacob so he would always have a piece of her…
But when I think about it, I kinda like the idea itself, it very romantic, but weird in a way, i geusse it depends on what angle you’re looking from.
And yo answer you’re personal favor:
NO! i was completley in the dark, i had no idea he imprinted or not, infact i thought that he saw all these thing that resemble Bella so he could no longer plan to kill it, or even think that way, becasue he realised it ‘was’ her.
Anyways Kassie was not clueless at all! i bet 40% of readers did not realised, like myself,
    GO KASSIE!

  43. staci says:

I was a lttle confused on how i felt about Jacob imprinting on Renesmee. I was happy for Jacob b/c he has finally found someone, even though he is not “in love” with her now, and he doesnt have to suffer everytime he is around Bella. But then again it is a little weird that he would imprint on Bella and Edwards baby..(clever Stephenie!) But as the years go it will be easier and alot less weird b/c she wont be a child anymore.
I figured it out when he looked into Renesmees eyes. I was so shocked. i couldnt believe it, and i was very anxious to find out what Bella and Edward thought..especially Edward:D. I was for sure he would rip Jacobs throat out asap.
The book was amazing!!!(despite what some lunatic people are saying)

    P.S.
    i love they new look!
    very cool!

  44. Johanna says:

I had been spoiled 2 weeks before I got the book (Norway was really late) So for question one I guess I first knew 2 weeks before I read it.

So I got time adjusting to the thought of him imprinting on her. I’m not all that sure that I would have caught him imprinting if I haven’t knew, because at the time I read it was 4 in the morning and my eyes felt heavy.

I thought it was fin that he imprint on her, but I would have preferred Leah for him. I mean what happens to her now? Does she find love?

    – Love the podcast! 😀
I feel bad for you getting spoiled!

  45. Sammykins says:

I wasn’t a big fan of Nessie to begin with… Its cool that Jacob imprinted, but I would have rather him imprinted on someone else. Its clear why she had Quil imprint on a toddler, it was to prepare us. However, I don’t like it. Because Quil and Claire were in the beginning part of Jacob’s book, I started thinking about Bella’s baby. I wondered if she was having a girl and when it was a girl, I knew Jacob would imprint on her. I hoped I was wrong, but I wasn’t… Then it happened and I was mad. I was lucky to have not been spoiled, which was a miracle. Two of my friends were reading it while I was studying for my summer semester finals.

  46. Allison says:

Ok, I know I am going to be made fun of for this but I didnt figure out that jacob imprinted on renesmee till Stephanie actually said it in the third book, after Bella wakes up from her vampire transformation. But now that I heard you read it on the podcast I serisoly dont know how I could have missed it. It might have been becase I was reading it as fast as i could and i was tired.

But for how I feel about jessie is that,I think it is a good thing. I would have never guessed that Jake would imprint on her, but I never guessed that Bella was going to have a kid. But I think that if he would have just imprinted on some random girl from school it would have been a little anti-climactic. So it was fun to read

  47. Tiffany says:

I thought Stephenie Meyer was a genius for letting Jacob(that was for you Kassie) imprint on Renesmee. It gave Jacob a piece of the old Bella for him and that lets Bella have Edward without a doubt of whether she “chose” the right one. And I found out on the last page of “The book of Jacob”.
And may I add, I really liked the name Renesmee, I thought it was perfect because Renee is Bella’s real mother and took care of her and was scared when she did something dangerous(like skydiving) and Esme is Bella’s mother-in-law and Bella looks up to her as a kind, gentle vampire. And when they were practicing fighting with newborns the first time, Bella could not picture Esme(and Alice) fighting and was scared for her. So Renee + Esme = Renesmee and a by-product is a remeberence of the two most important mother figures and family of her HUMAN life!!! (you can erase the last paragraph if you were going to ask that as another question of the week) 🙂
    BTW LOVE your podcast!

  48. Mich McBuff says:

I liked that Jacob imprinted on Renesmee because there is now a “healthier” bond with him an Bella. It is great that he would no longer have to feel the hurt from the love he had for her because his life was now living for Resemee. Bella no longer has to worry about hurting Jacob either and she gets a protector for her daughter which I think any mother would appreciate, even though it seems weird since Reseme is a baby.

I knew that he would imprint on Renesmee in the chapter where he drove away to the park. There were hints when he was looking at the different features of the girls in the park and comparing them to the same body parts Bella had, and coming to the conclusion that no one would be the same as Bella. I thought at that moment that there would be someone who was like Bella, it would be her child. Since we didn’t what sex the baby was at that time I figured it would be a girl because there would need to be someone Jakob would see Bella’s features in. My theory was confirmed the moment Jacob started his very first line about his ties to his life conections breaking and now being replaced by cables to Renesmee and I must say the first time I read it I shouted “Yes!” out loud. I am team Edward all the way and i just wanted Jacob to find someone else and stop the heartache for the triangle. Now that I am reading the book for the 4th time, I cry because it makes me so happy now that Jacob has someone.

  49. Cecilia Guerrero says:

When it came to the end of Jacob’s book I really didn’t think that Jacob imprinted on Renesmee. I just sort of thought that he thought that she was realy cute…I guess that I still felt that Jacob was going to find some way to be with Bella!! But when Edward was saying that the vampires couldn’t get Jacob away from Renesmee that’s when I really dropped my book and said “OMG, he imprinted on Bella’s baby.”

I’m team switerland all the way (for every character) and I’m glad that Jacob finally imprinted and got a bit of Bella with it. But the one that I wonder about is Leah! I wanted to know if she still felt the same about being a “gentic dead end” know that she knew Jacob imprinted! Do she still feel that same way? Or does think she can go on with life?

That was what I was wondering……………oh but I also have a comment on a big question that didn’t get answered in the book!!!

WHO IN THE PACK ARE HALF-BROTHERS?

It was said in Eclipse that when Quil – I believe it was Quil – when he became a wolf that it lead to a lot of question on who was is father to give him the wolf gene. I was just wondering because that was one thing that I didn’t find an answer to in Breaking Dawn – unless I missed it!!!lol

  50. Brittany-Boo says:

I kinda liked it. That way we had closure and bella and edward could be together without interference.
I know i’m stupid but i didn’t realize he had imprinted until edward “understood” why he was so close to the baby. I felt so stupid when i realized bc i felt like i should have realized it sooner.
