What do you think?

Oct 18th, 2008 | By | Category: Featured Articles, Question of the Week

This week we want you to speculate about yourselves!Β  Our question of the week is…

What do you think will happen to the fandom after the Twilight movie is released?

I hope you guys will take the time to really think about the question, and how YOU might proceed after the movie, as well as the fandom as a whole!

  1. Sara says:

I think new fans will come from the movie (who havent heard of the book) and twilighters will be hhuuuugggeeee

and all current twilighters will stay supportive and start counting down the days till the dvd is released!!!!!

  2. Sara says:

++ i’m HOPEFUL that twilight tuesdays on mtv etc will crete New Moon ones if/when new moon filming starts !!

hmm what day would it be? New Moon Newsday πŸ˜›

  3. Jane says:

I really hope it doesnt end, it would be awesome if the fandom stayed together and that, New Moon would be come to a movie, that way the fandom can’t die. I hope we can it up for sometime, or forever like Vampires, Kepping Twilight alive, but with the movie the would be more fans..! i really hope they do new moon!

  4. Linsey says:

I think it is only going to get bigger and bigger. I am hopefully that there will be movies for each of the books and that Stephanie Meyer will be encouraged by the support and continue on the saga from another character’s point of views! If not, I think I will go into premanent withdraw! Love you!!!!

  5. Janet says:

Based on my experience with the Harry Potter fandom, the bound-to-be-a-blockbuster Twilight movie should create thousands of new fans. I think this will result in an Internet explosion of new fan sites and the wonderful existing sites will see a massive increase in traffic. The popularity will create even more interest in the Twilight sequel movies which will mean more fans and fan sites when those movies come out. I don’t think we will see the hype die down until the very last book is made into a movie, whether that be Breaking Dawn or Midnight Sun or even a new book about Renesme & Jacob or some of the other vampires story if Stephanie changes her mind about continuing that story. The Twilight fandom will continue to grow as long as there is something new we can look forward to.

  6. Lizzie says:

i think the movie definatly is giving the fandom a chance to expand. i heard about twilight through harry potter and i know personally, that if i had seen the trailer i would have been interested but not as much as if i had already twilight knowledge -ie, after having read the books. each person that reads the books also passes them onto friends, which helps them expand ever more – i was the first person in my school to read them (in england so no one heard of them but me) and now half the school read them because i passed them on. the movie can only do good things.
it really can reach most people – action or romance (+hot guys/attractive girls) whats not to love?
while im not a completly twilight obsessive like i used to be, i still see the books as a part of my background, making up a part of me and i’ll always go to see the movies, pass on the books, check the websites regularly. even just doing small things like passing on a book is still being part of the fandom so i don’t think it will die down – just maybe become a little less above the radar.
as long as TST keeps running, the fandom has too! πŸ˜€
love the podcast, and imprint (who’ll you’ll be doing it with next week) is my other favourite podcast too. im so happy you guys are doing this! you rock!

  7. ashley says:

    more fans! heck ya!

  8. Ally says:

Well, I know that we will probably have more people added to the fandom.

Concerning the current fandom, though, I’m pretty sure there are going to be a lot of mixed reactions. There are going to be the people who absolutely hated the movie because it’s different from the book. I really don’t understand how these people get angry about the changes being made in the movie. Everyone knows that movies are never the same as books. I told myself that as soon as I heard that the movie was being made. I don’t think anybody should get upset over this because it is so predictable. Things are going to be changed in the film, things are going to be added, and things are going to be taken out. I just don’t think anyone should waste time being disappointed about this, because it’s a sure fact that people need to accept.

On the other hand, there are going to be people who LOVED the movie (I’m pretty sure I am going to be part of this group). Most of the fandom will probably love the movie for the sole fact that it is Twilight. They are going to support the movie, and see it multiple times.

Then, going back to the new fans, the movie will intrigue loads of people, I’m sure. They will buy the books and read them, adding to the already huge fandom now, lol.

I really think the reactions of the fandom after seeing the trailer will be very similar to how the fandom reacts to the movie. There will be those people complaining, saying things like, “James was supposed to bite her hand, not wrist!” Many people complained about the trailer, and many people thought it was AMAZING, myself included(: So I’m pretty sure that is what we should expect from the fandom: unhappy old fans, happy old fans, and new fans.

    Love your podcast(:

  9. kennedy says:

I think that the fanbase will become huge from the movie. i think that people who didn’t read the books before they saw the movie will be inspired to start reading why all of us are counting down seconds to the movie and why bella and edward are now a household name.

  10. kennedy says:

I think that the fanbase will become huge from the movie. i think that people who didn’t read the books before they saw the movie will be inspired to start reading why all of us are counting down seconds to the movie and why bella and edward are now a household name.
I personally probably won’t like the movie as much as i liked the books. Now don’t get me wrong. i’ll probably be hyperventalating for weeks after i saw it, but i wanted it to be more like the books. I dont like how they changed everything around, for example the scene where bella tells edward that she figured out that he was a vampire was supposed to be in the car on the way home from Port Angelas. And the kiss was supposed to be by bellas truck and not in her room.
But otherwise. The movie will probably take the twilight world to a new level.

  11. Sophie Weavers says:

Well this will certainly be interesting as the movie will be coming out at different times around the world. i predict that the fan levels will be maintained, and may even go higher once the film is available globally. I think more people will read the books and thus encourage a second movie…alhough that will be hard to sit through!!
Its a shame there arent more books in the series, other than midnight sun i guess, but if there were more books, then i think we see the Harry Potter effect where EVERYONE flocks to buy the final books, even if they hadnt read the first 5! (like me).
Another thought is that fans may now encourage the release of Midnight Sun even more so than they did before, as i suspect some scenes will be encorportated into this movie.
You are SOOOO lucky you get it almost a whole month before me!!.,.i shall have to resist listening to podcasts and Youtube so nothing is spoilt!!!
    thx
    Sophs xx

  12. Jamie says:

I think that with all the hype about New Moon being in pre-production, and the movie having just come out, I think the fan base will grow and people will be even more excited about the upcoming release of the “guide to the Twilight saga”, all the new Twilight dolls, etc. With all the new franchise stuff coming out, there’s no way they could stop making the movies just as the fan base is picking up. I know that I won’t quit being a fan after the movie, and I’m pretty sure none of the other fans will either. The movies going to be great for the fans.

    Thanks – Jamie

  13. Kyle *twiiiiilight!!! sigh* says:

I honestly think at some point things will start to settle down for Twilight. I don’t think it will happen for a long time though… If Forks continues to have their parties, Stephenie Meyer continues to write books and Twilight Movies continue to be released… Twilighters will NOT fail to be excited, and continue to make countdowns, obsess over Edward/Jacob…etc.

Twilight is an absolutely GINOURMOUS thing right now though! With all the tees, hats, bags, jewelry…etc It is not likely to die down any time soon! We Twilighters have to keep the rest of the world curious as to what we are sooo psyched about. Keep them wondering and soon enough they will try to read the books and join our ever growing group!!

If Harry Potter fans (which I also happen to be…I love Twilight more but hey…it doesn’t mean I have to detest Harry) can keep up the excitement over Harry all this time (granted they ARE still making movies) then Twilighters can definetly keep this running.

    EDWARD AND BELLA 4EVA!

  14. Tzvia says:

first of all i would like to say that personaly i met the books through the movie- because my freind found somthing about the movie on the internet (i think it was the first treiler..) and it looked intresting to her and she found out ther are sequels in books so she told me about it and i was like.. wow! so for me personaly the movie was actully the one that couzed me to read thous books so.. it will defenetly remain a part of my life..
and i also think it will couze many others to fall in love in the books because of the movie.
    love your podcast!
p.s. sorry about the spelling and gremer- it’s not my languag.. sorry..

  15. McKell says:

Okay i honestly think it will split in half, because a whole lot of people are going into the movie expecting it to be just like the book. I think the movie will be amazing, and that they have added things to it, for the better, and I’m not going to parallel it to the book. I also think the fan girls will love Robert no matter what they say now, once they see this movie it will be impossible for them not to love him. I’m most worried for Kristen, I don’t know how everyone will think she’ll do, personally i think she will do great, but some people might not agree… so anyways, i hope this will intensify the fandom to where they want more, but we’ll see.

  16. Jessica S. says:

I think the twilight fandom will explode!! I think it will be huge, how could it not. With such an amazing story. I’m hoping it will be so great that Stephanie will have to write another book, or maybe finish Midnight Sun, which I just read and loved!!! It made Bella seem like such a good person. I definatley think there will be another movie.

  17. Shina says:

    hey guys, love the podcast.
i think after ive seen the movie like, 4 times, ill get kind of depressed becasue it’s over. The fandom will grow though, becasue all of the new fans, and people will be excited for a month or something. then twilight will die down some until the DVD comes out and all the special features and stuff. after that, i think everything will kind of fizzle out until they actually start on the New Moon movie.
so even though the twilight fandom will be bigger than ever, there won’t be as much news and stuff going around to keep everyone excited

  18. The REAL Mrs. Edward Cullen says:

I think that the Twilight fever will decrease. Even if the movie is amazing, this is going to be like the climax for the fandom. After it, yes, the fans will still love the books and anticipate the movies to come, but its going to slowly die down in my opinion. The actors will reap rewards and their careers will take off, whilst Stephenie Meyer tries to come up with something amazing to please her fans after the Breaking Dawn (for some) and Midnight Sun (for everyone) let down. I still think it was a major fail on her part to not publish Midnight Sun…. But whatever. I think after the movie the Twilight fandom will slowly diminish like the Harry Potter fever did. Fans still support and go watch the movies, but the frenzy is no longer there.

  19. Johanna says:

    Ok, um…
Hopefully Stephanie goes to the movie sees the excitement and gets inspired to continue “Midnight Sun” we wait a while and we get the magnificent, splendid and lovely Edward’s point of view.
Then she discovers that she still want’s to live in the twilight universe
and writes a great 5’th book form Alice, Jaspers, Leah or Reneesmee’s (How do you even spell that?) point of view. I would love Jaspers point of view because I’m a big Jasper fan. He’s so mysterious.

Or maybe even Jacob’s point of view, but I think Kassie would have burned the book and danced around the fire. So I decided against mentioning the J-word. πŸ™‚

And if were lucy the make New Moon and Eclipse to movies. But I’m not sure they would do Breaking Dawn because of the evil spawn. No, I like Nessie, but she would be difficult to make. How would they make her look older by the day and stuff. We’ll see.

Love the podcast. i’ve gone back to listen to all your episodes. You’re really good.

    – Johanna form Norway.

  20. Kim says:

Hi! Well, first I wanted to say that I love your podcast. You guys are great!
Alot of people are saying that the movie’s release will attract more people to the book.
    I say different.
I think that alot of people who are new to the Twilight fanbase will just see the movie, and not put any effort into reading the book because “It’s too long” or “Watching the movie is all i need to do to get the story”. So when asked this question about the fandom increasing, it really depends on whether you’re talking about the book, or the film. The book – probly not, because most will think that they don’t need to read it because they’ve seen the movie. The movie, on the other hand, will definatly be popular, and that fanbase will definatly increase. I can see Rob Pattinson and Kristin Stewart as the most popular stars amongst teenagers.
Anyway, I really hope the movie will live up to my expectations. There are some things that will be different, but I hope it all looks great!
Fabulous job on thet show, ladies!
    Twilight Forever,
    Kim Stevens

  21. Madsi Alice Portrayer says:

I think the Twilight Fandom will increase, because the people seeing the movie that haven’t read the book’s will probably read them after seeing the movie, and if they make the rest of these books into movie’s the Fandm will drow! After seeing the last trailer I think the movie will be amazing!!! I hope Stephenie finishes Midnigh Sun after the movie by getting an inspration, and also does more books by Alice,Jacob’s or Renesmee’s point of view.

    Love the podcast!!

    Madison

  22. Tiffany C. says:

Well, I certainly hope that the fandom with stay strong…I know I’ll forever be a devoted fangirl. That’ll never change.

Twilight, to me, has changed my life. It gives me that one place where I can escape from all the chaos and truth of reality, and just disappear for awhile in the lives of Stephenie Meyer’s amazing characters. When I’m having a tough day, I’ll take out my much abused copy of Twilight, and read through my favorite passages. It makes me happy, and I’m sure that the books have done that for everyone who is part of the fandom…

Twilight is also like Harry Potter…I’m personally getting tired of all the comparisons between the two, but I can definitely see why the come up. The HP world is over and done with. J.K. won’t be writing anymore books to it (at least she says) and Twilight has gotten to be one of those books that people have come to know and recognize. I met someone the other day who saw my “bitten by Breaking Dawn” button on my bag, and was all like “OH! I LOVE Twilight!” and we went into this big conversation about it. It was amazing! And like HP, Twilight is going to be around for so much longer, even if there is no more books to come. That is the saddening truth, no more books, but thats ok.

We all know and love the story plots and characters and we all are devoted 100% to Twilight, Stephenie Meyer, and everything else related. We are a family (like the Cullens XD) devoted to thing. That one thing we all have in common. Twilight. And thats not going to change. Especially if we have 4 movies to come in the future!

K i’m done preaching now, can’t wait for the podcasts! You guys rock my socks to the max and beyond!

  23. Broghan Taylor says:

it depends on if they make another movie or not….. think about it this way the harry potter fanbase got bigger after the 1st movie more poeple wanted to read it and the fanbase is still very big but its not as big and there are still movies coming out..
Twilgiht will always have fans and right after the movie its fan base wiht most lucky grow but over time (if no more books are written fomr other peoples points of view) the fanbase will be there but it would be taking over like it is….Exple on facebook
the priese of flair appp it COVERED in twilgiht fliar its one of the 3 most used themes ^_^ along wiht Jonans Brothers and Chuck Norries ( there one flair that said if Chuck Norries was to direact and Twilight movie staring one of the Joe Bros the world explode) anyway i love twilight and i keep reading it and rereading it (even tho i cant read it now im making my bf read them so i only have twlight the others are at his house) but the book holds somthing spical to everyone who reads it other wise it would be as big as it is ^_^ so i know that the book with become a fav for years to come but I think that the demaned i guess u could say will die down in a couple year Hott Topic wont have Twilgiht stuff like they do now u will have to rely on ebay and other things for it but the movies and the books with always have a place in eveyrones heart

    Broghan

  24. Charlia says:

Hi, I Think The Fandom Might Get Bigger, or Stay The Same. Becuase We All Know Some Of Us Will Not Like The Movie, And That Will Lose Some Twilighters. But There Could Also Be More People Intrested Because of The Movie, Like Harry Potter. So We Could Lose Half Our Twilighters And Gain Them Back W/ Movie Go-ers, or Lose about 20% and Gain More By Movie Fanatics, It All Depends On How The Movie Goes.

As For The Fansites, I Think There Will Be A Lot Of News For Awhile Like Reviews, Conferences, And Special Edition DVD, But After Awhile, Once It Dies Down, It Is Up To Stephenie, For That One, She Has Deicide Whether To Write Midnight Sun And Other Perspectives, Or To Quit The Whole Series/Ideas Altogether. Depening On If There Is New Moon The Movie Will Affect The Twilight Fandom As Well

    Thanks For A Great Podcast!

  25. Becky says:

I actually think that after the movie is released that the fan base of the most amaising books ever will go up, as it actually changes peoples interpretations about vampires, I know that when I hadnt read twilight I thought of vampires as evil, but after having read twilight I know find them interesting and not scary at all, which is strange, but oh well, I also am ashamed to say that the fact that robert patterson is playing a vampire is increadably sexy!!!! And I think that this will convert women to twilighters (maybe some men)as lets face it HE IS HOT!!!! Some other men might enjoy twilight and convert because of the machoness of the vampires is somthing that men maybe feel they want to be like, cause lets face it they all want to seem big and scary!!!!!!! Loving your podcast, greetings from england, Becky xxx

  26. Erin(: says:

Oh Me Oh MY! You just have to get me so pumped!
Okay to start off…..I really would(or will) be so mad if they absolutly don’t make the next movies! And if they have an open casting for Jane or Gianna or Heidi(if i died my hair). I think that the some of the fans will be completly dissapoint with the movie and some will be uber happy. Also that some won’t even see it! I think those people should atleast give it a chance!!!
Okay % for that of which i’m guessing is….
    70%love it …..25%hate it…..5%not seeing it
HOLY FLIPPEN CROW!!! THE TRAILER!!!!!!!!!!! HOW CAN SOMEONE NOT LOVE IT!?!?!?!
The only thing I am SOOOO worried about is Kristen. I’m so affraid that she isn’t going to be klutzy! That is how I relate to Bells. Trust me,I fractured my nose playing flag football. I rather uber excited to see Jackson!(and Kellan but more Jackson) Jackson has THE HARDEST roll to fufill! He is probably under so much pressure from the fans…but YAY for him! Everyone says that it stays realllllllly close to the book…lets hope it does. Or be praped to meet the uproar of fans*du du du dun*
LaLaLaLaLaLaLa….The movie needs a theme song! SOME FAN MAKE IT NOW!!! *wink wink nudge nudge* Kassie!
Okay now that I’ve rambelled on and on and on(oh I’m doing it agian!)
I think it is time to wrap this up like a present…..awwwww! Just like Edward! You have to unwrap him to find the real him<3
    Oddles of Toodles,
    Erin
PS!!!!!!-oh everyone loves me! all those I<3EC say they love me(my last name starts with a C)…how lucky am I??

  27. Erin(: says:

wow that is my longest comment ever!!!!!!!

  28. Jasmine says:

I think that release of the Twilight movie is just going to make A LOT more fans!!! And that the fans who haven’t read the books are going to read them and there’s going to be another sudeen period of time where the stores are just getting clients buying the Twilight Series 24/7!!!!!!!!

  29. Tara says:

    Wow.
This is actually a difficult question. The Twilight movie will probably draw in more fans, but it may not get the reviews it was searching for from the fans that have actually read the books. People tend to come up with their own ideas of what the movie will be like and what it should include, and then they may get disappointed when the movie doesn’t include everything they thought of. The people that have not read the books may (and will) enjoy the movie, and end up going to read the books for further enjoyment. So, in short, the fandom will most definitely grow, but it may be torn apart by those who like the movie and those who do not. Everyone who has read the books needs to try to go into the theatre with an open mind, and remind themselves that this is supposed to be BASED on the book, and not be “Twilight: The Book Word by Word.” On the other hand, people who see the movie first and then read the book, may think that the movie is better than the book itself. For myself, I will always love the books, but seeing the movie will add to the Twilight addiction I have (LOL). The fandom as a whole will (like I said before), have another difference besides Team Edward (which I am on) and Team Jacob; there will also now be the movie-lovers and the book-lovers. The fandom will grow and become stronger, but it may become a little more separated in preferences. Part of the fandom, the actors/actresses, will get HUGE boosts in their careers. Hopefully the growing fandom will encourage them to make New Moon a movie too. Ooh, I would also like to bring up that since the Twilight movie will have baseball and fighting, guys might become (or become more common) in the Twilight fandom.

A little off-topic, but maybe Stephenie will be inspired to write again, and finish Midnight Sun. She may even do another book from someone else’s point of view, like Reneesmee (who even knows how spell it), from one of the Cullen’s point of view, or maybe from someone in the wolf pack’s point of view. If it from Jacob’s point of view, I think Kassie will make a bon-fire out of it (just kidding).

    Amazing podcast by the way!

  30. Samie says:

you know, there are many things that could happen… maybe the movie will go good.. but not as good as ppl might think, or it could be horriable. Or as many ppl think it will be is a smash hit! i think it will bring more ppl into the fandom.. as Stephenie meyer said “I hope ppl walk outta there careing about edward and bella”
which is what i think will happen. maybe not everyone will, but i bet about 70% of ppl who haven’t read the book, nor heard of it go buy the books.. while all the fans who have beeen waiting for the twilight movie will be loveing it and hopeing for the rest of the saga to be made into a movie! lets hope! =)

  31. Bagels says:

I think the fandom can only increase after the movie comes out. Look at Harry Potter (sorrysorrysorry for the harry potter comparison!) it’s fan base only got bigger and bigger. It did die down a bit, but that was after a few YEARS. I think the movie can only be positive for the fan base. Everyone who likes the books now is still gonna like them even if the movie’s bad, and all the movie can do for ppl who haven’t read the books is make them want to read Twilight. I think the movie’s gonna do well, look at Breaking Dawn- it sold 1.3 million copies in ONE DAY- and that was WITH a previous fan base. But it will be different then BD in that you won’t have had to read anything, ppl will just go to the movie cuz they think it look good. I also know a lot of ppl that don’t normally read who read this book and immediately fell in love with it. I think the movie will at least spark an interest in ppl even if they don’t like the movie much.
And come on, once they’ve read it there’s no way they could not like it πŸ˜€

  32. Ana says:

Since this past week there has been official confirmation that Summit is continuing with New Moon, I don’t think this Twilight fandom is going to stop until Breaking Dawn hits theaters, no excuse me DVD, ha! It’s going to definitely grow. I think that a lot more people who haven’t read the books will go see the movie, because they probably won’t feel like reading (admit it we’ve all done it) I hope that people will be so intrigued by the movie that people will go out and buy the book, and just keep reading. Therefore, making the fanbase EVEN BIGGER. I also think, no this is aside from the fanbase sort of, that Stephenie Meyer will see the GIGANTIC amount of fans that go to see this movie, and she’ll see how much fans love her and adore the series, that she will continue with Midnight Sun. **CROSS FINGERS** I need new reading material ladies, because I’ve blocked off everything else, so I’m basically in the state of mind where, “There’s nothing better then Twilight, and there isn’t going to be anything like it.” I’m sure I’m not the only one. So what do you ladies think? Do you think that Stephenie will continue write Midnight Sun after the success of the movies? I’d love to hear you guy’s opinions on the subject. You girls are awesome!

  33. Brinkley says:

I think that the movie could create many more Twilighters, but I’m not sure it will explode just yet. If there is new buzz about the New Moon release, then of course there will be lots to discuss just like with Twilight. The fandom will continue with podcasts, new websites, countdowns, trailers, movie stills, etc. The process will start all over again. No worries, we aren’t done yet.

  34. Sarah says:

Before Breaking Dawn came out I contented myself with the fact that after I read the book and discussed it with all my Twilight obsessed friends, I could look forward to Midnight Sun and the twilight movie. But since Midnight Sun was leaked and Stephenie has decided to stop writing the book I’m gonna be sad after the movie ends.

    BUT:
If stephenie doesn’t decide to finish writing the book before the movie comes out and the end of december when the official twilight guide comes out i will have NOTHING to look forward to except new moon (movie) and the dvd.
(dont forget that DVDs arent released MONTHS after the movie. but they also have deleted scenes and the like πŸ™‚ .
the movie could also cause people to fall in love with the books so you tube videos could be showing up all over the place. (which i will happily watch)
some people hav already decided to read the book (and fall in lov with it) after seeing the amazing trailer.ever since one of my friends (who has never read the books) saw the trailers she has already fallen in love with the movie (without seeing it). i convinced her to read the book and shes fallen in love with it!
the twilight community will LIVE ON!

  35. Cherise says:

I think more people will read the book to see how it compares to the movie and all fans will push for the other books to be movies!

  36. Brittany-Boo says:

i think the fandom will dramatically increase but we might lose a few just b/c they didn’t like what the movie represented.

  37. kaylee says:

I think there could be two possibilities.

Possibility 1: I know i cant wait to see the movie but mainly because of my love for the books. Im worried that people who havent read the books may not want to see twilight because i know before reading the twilight series i probably wouldn’t have considered seeing a movie about vampires because well vampires were never really my thing. I do believe though, despite whether the movie is good or not anyone who was a true fan of the series prior to the movie will remain a fan as it was the series that originally attracted us all, the movie is simply a bonus :D. So if this theory is correct the fandom will remain the same.

Possibility 2: Due to the massive hype about the movie and the book series people who are not yet fans may see the movie out of curiosity. If the movie is as good as i think it will be (due to its great casting, crew and the fact that Katherine has tried to stay as true as she can to the book) people who arent yet fans will quickly become fans and hopefully go out and buy the series causing the fandom to grow larger then what it already is if thats possible :P.

All i know is whatever happens the book series has done great things for the movies already large fan base lets hope the movie can compliment that so that more people become fans of the series.

All i know is no matter what happens with the movie i will always be a fan of stephenie meyer!

OK my plans after the movie is to re-read the series as many times as it takes for me to slowly detach myself from the characters then ill attempt to read the host. im not relli a fan of sci-fi but i wont be sceptical cauz i was never a fan of vampires before twilight :P. once im done with that i guess ill just hang out for the rest of the movies, hopefully there will be more.

i love you guys! great work on the podcast

    xoxoxo

  38. *Leilani luna* says:

honestly i do think it will continue heres why:
well as you have already made a point of on your most recent podcast the movie has already gotten ALOT of publicity online. and well as you may already know alot of people have been debating weather its better than harry potter and obviously it is….well to the millions of twilight fans……and scince alot of people are most likely going to watch it (like the harry potter movies) it will probably get enough publisity to get the other books filmed. i mean for crying out lound no offense to the harry potter films but they need to move over and make rroom for a new saga! haha!

  39. Shteff! says:

I seriously think that depending on the overall movie standards, a new herd of fans will be created. Personally, the natural fans of the books will always stay alive and available, for they are true! They read the books for crying out loud. Yes, the movie is a new hit of fandum, but people who are created into the fan obbsession through it haven’t fully experienced the joys of reading the begining of this amazing tale! We’ve got people who are going to be comparing it to the books…so after the movie is out..and it begins to calm…well. I don’t think it will truely ever calm. I mean…Naruto has been out for how long? And that still holds a famous fan cycle! (Just an example of course fromthe top of my head ^_^)
I will personally be obbsessing for a while to come I think, and I shall be waiting until everything is unleashed in the UK, since i’m not one of those lucky people who can afford swish holidays to America. I’m going to wait until the movie is released here along side the dvd and merchendise. Liverpool may be a late intake of these things, but when we get them, we get them good! πŸ˜€

I must say first off to all the Twilight fans out there, right now, YOU ALL ARE AWESOME AND ROCK!!!
This is how it is going to go down. The movie is going to come out at midnight and people are going to come home and blog abut it. Then for the next week or two people are going to be out seeing the movie. After the initial shock wears off we will all go back to our computers and start our normal Twilight stuff again!! I don’t know about anybody else but I have plans to see it 3 times within the first weekend. LOL!!!

I think that the true fans will continue to keep blogging, creating new fansites, and new fan gear after the movie comes out!!
I think all fans will have hope for New Moon and the dvd release. I do believe that we will get new fans, but will they be the same? I have talked to a few people who haven’t read the book and they said they are just going to wait for the movie to come out!! Ahhh…that’s like blasphemy!! I don’t think you can see just the movie! Maybe it’s me! Maybe it will encourage them to go get the book and read it!
I just think it may not be the same! I am afraid of the movie viewers verses the book readers war! It alway happens.
    I don’t want it to. πŸ™
All and all it will be good!

  41. hello ladies! let me just start out by saying that i absoletely love ur podcast! ok moving on… i think the Twilight fandom will grow lots! i think the movie will make people love twilight even more. if people who have never read the book go see the movie, they would want to know what the book is like. i know i would. if i saw the movie and had never read the books, i would go out and get the book and read it to see what was taken out and what was put in. then i would fall in love with edward and emmett and jasper and maybe jacob and read the rest of the books, and then read them again and again. sorry got totally off subject. anywayz! a lot of fans might be disappointed about the movie. we all have our visions of who edward is *swoon* and who everybody else is, and lots of fans are disappointed about the character choices. i think katheron saw these people as who they are in the book. idk if she has read the books but maybe she just thought, “oh hey, idk what edward is like, but if i knew him, he would look like this” you know?? so i know that i will love the movie, and, idk how this could possibly happen cuz im already a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan, fall in love even more. oh and one more thing, i think kellan, rob, jackson, and taylor are just so sexy, that if i ever met them i would pass out!! they are just yum-my!!!! so so so hot! bye!!!! *if u ever see kellan again, tell him i love him! and rob and jackson and taylor!*

After the movie is released, I think that the fandom will remain loyal, if not grow. If the movie does good (which I think it will) then many people who haven’t read the book, but have seen the movie, would want to read Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. Usually, books tend to be better than their movie counterparts because movie-makers cut out a lot of stuff (that’s what it’s like for me at least).

Even if the movie doesn’t do well, Twilight will always be a classic novel – our children, our children’s children, and so on, will read this series (what’s no there to love?)

But, this fandom is one that sticks together through ups and downs. Twilight fans are going to love this movie – that is a fact. I know I will (I already have a group of 15 who want to see it with me).

I think that the movie will help to expand the intrest in the book saga, as they aren’t keeping it hidden that it is a book series thus if people really enjoy the movie they will probably go and read the books. In most cases when a book gets made into a movie the book is still known to be better no matter how hott the actors are. Twilight fans are extremely loyal i can’t see it petering out.
Like i said i realy just believe that the movie will expand the fans and intrigue more people to even if not read the book atleast look forward to new moon as a movie. I know my friend saw the trailer and wants to see it but she isn’t going to read the books(so she says) but you never know,
I know i will personally stay a fan of the series and definely probably the movie too. After the movie is released in theatres i am still going to be that crazy fan who watches it more then once and cheers when bella and edward kiss *woot*. I dont think the twilight fandom can diminish as the fans aren’t just regular fans, if we were there probably wouldn’t so many sites.

And just think after the movie is released then there will be a big thing about it coming out on DVD

  44. Emmit's Girl says:

I think the fan base will get bigger.

There are simply those who prefer movies to novels and from everything I read, I think this movie is going to be awesome. I hope the movie is big enough to spawn a sequel.

Then MTV can have New Moon Mondays! πŸ™‚

  45. Morgan says:

I think the fandom will still stay strong. I know I will always love the books, even after the movie and after (and if it is) midnight sun is released. Refering back to last weeks question of the week, I think it will be a blockbuster and enough people will see it so then hopefully New Moon will be made into a movie, therefore making the fandom stay strong. Also I think the movie will make people want to read the books. I know thats what happened to me with Harry Potter. So I also think the Twilight fandom will get bigger. Also Stephenie will hopefully write more books that may appeal to other people, Like The Host being si-fi and I know I didn’t like Si-Fi but read it because it was by the author of Twilight, and then because they like the book they will go and read other books by Stephenie and get into Twilight. I know all of the twilight fans will go and see the movie, even if they don’t think it looks the best i could be. I know I will and basically the rest of my school will πŸ˜› Also many fans will buy the DVD’s, the official Movie companion, the calendar, the t shirts and all the other merchandise there is and show their love to our favourite book

    lovee the podcast
    Morgan xoxo

  46. Elizabeth says:

Personally, I think the fandom will skyrocket after the movie. I know already that it’s going to be amazing, I mean have you seen the trailers and pictures? The fans who loved it before will be insane for it and the people who saw the movie will love it and want to read the books!
And now with the possibility of New Moon and Eclipse, the fandom has years to expand and grew huge, just like it should. The Twilight Saga is slowly taking over the world.
I know that for sure I will continue to love the books through all movies and forever. These aren’t books you can just get over.

  47. Morgan says:

I hope Stephenie makes a book about Renesmee and Jacob, and follow their journey.

If she does, Kallie make a video of Kassie reading it and put it on youtube, because we all know how much Kassie loves Jacob πŸ˜‰

    LOL

  48. Graceey Cullen says:

After the movie is released, i think that there still will be buzz about it for a LONG time. Then, it will probably stop for a while. Then, Steph is probably going to announce that she is continuing Midnight Sun [hopefully =) ]. There will be ebuzz again. After that, maybe New Moon the movie will be filmed…..

    YAY

    xx graceey cullen

  49. Fleur says:

I think that the Twilight aga will get more fans, people will watch the film and then go read the books.
and if we get more fans, Stephenie may write another book πŸ™‚
The twilight fandom will be buzzing after, it has to, it’s too amazing
I love you girls and your podcasts!

  50. Twilighter says:

I have never felt this way about anything so let me tell you that this is going to be a long time LOVE of mine and I’M FOREVER GOING TO LOVE THIS SERIES ! I will continue to read the books over and over again and I will be going to events that our Twilight related so I’M NOT GOING ANYWHERE ! I probably will slow down a bit on being obsessive though haha ! And I will continue to buy and support anything Twilight. But the fandom in whole I think that the Twilight fandom will grow with new fans of the books but there will be some slowing down or some even dropping off but I think the TWILIGHT FANDOM WILL ALWAYS LOVE THE BOOKS and support it !
