We are back with a BANG! This week Kassie and I have fun reading your ideas about who should be cast in New Moon! There were soooo many ideas we decided to extend our discussion of New Moon! With the news that the film will come out at the end of 2009, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to gab about what we think they should do to make New Moon great! Re-cast Kristen and Rob?!?!?! They’ve all fallen off their rockers. Nuts, I tell you, nuts. I’m an extremely devoted Twilight fan, but i would refuse to see the next few movies if they re-cast these roles.
if they recast taylor ughh that would ruin everything!!!!!! they absolutly cant!!! 🙁

i think they should just stick to the original characters other wise its not the same. we grow to love certain characters and there aura u can’t just re cast people bcuz you don’t like them. it would just be like re writing the book. and that wouldn’t work.
i have to vent:
I am a 23 year old male twilight fan who’s fav characters are Jacob and Alice.
this is my opinion on the apparent recast of Jacob Black.
It is just wrong. Wrong on so many levels. Unfair. Pointless. Wrong.
I really hope Summit overrides the new director on this one. Because this is wrong….
Taylor Lautner did everything that was asked of him for the twilight movie version of jacob…and beyond. Yet he is the one that needs to be replaced.
Many will say he does not fit the Jacob in new moon.
And this guy does? He is 4 inches taller than taylor but taylor is 16 and always growing. this guy is not native american neither so he isnt a step up from taylor there. this guy lookes nothing like taylor so the continuity from twi to nm is down the tubes. he is no better an actor than taylor.
taylor has done everything right in terms of his off time as well. he has been hitting the gym (and you can tell…just watch him standing next to rob on the tyra show on youtube)
he handles interviews and crowds way better than rob or kristen.
unless an actor/actress dies or there is a money issue or the series spans decades…there is NO reason why you recast a role in a series of movies. no faith in a guy who has done everything asked of him and more. no one says anything that ashley greene is 5 inches taller than the character she plays. or that jackson rathbone is shorter than the role he plays. or that carlisle and esme are older than the ages they are supposed to be stuck in. this guy throws off the sam character as well…who is supposed to be slightly bigger than jacob….but now he is just bigger than all of them. so if we are staying faithful to height does that mean recasting sam as well?
this might be because im a guy (a short guy at that)….but imo…the height growth is completely insignificant…imo its as easy to cut out as the ben character or the exact race of laurent…it does not matter.
the changes that do matter for me in NM when it comes to jacob:
that he is buffer.
that he is meaner/cocky/confident/angry
and thats it. to me…as long as he is taller than kristen (which he is) than he serves as a good competitor against rob.
i dont see how anyone can be happy with this recast if it happens. why? cause hes older and taller? would 6-7 inches of height really make you happier with a character? was the fact that he grew so tall really that important when you read the book? for me it was more important that he was a werewolf. not that he was suddenly taller.
a part of me just thinks people want this cause they want someoen they can swoon over cause taylor is just 16 and they dont want to feel weird.
i apologize in advance if i offend anyone cause of this. not my intent. this is all just my 2 cents. it saddens me when someone does really really well and gets kicked to the curb cause of certain shortcomings he has no control over.
if this recast happens. i dont think i will be nearly as excited for this movie (which is my fav out of the 4 books) and i wont pay to see it. and i will most likely just get it online when it comes out.
the new guy could do a great job. but its not about that. its just unfair to taylor and…in my opinion…there is no way one can say otherwise.

I applaud comment no.10. I absolutely agree with you. They better not re-cast Jacob, it’s unfair. Taylor did a fantastic job, i couldn’t imagine anyone else as Jacob.

The books describe Jacob as looking more mature – not like an entirely different person! Let’s not get too literal, shall we? The actors do not have to look EXACTLY as described and Jacob has already been cast.

eriously I was so depressed when they said they might recast taylor! I love him and it is unfair!!!! and I’m glad at least one other person noticed he(taylor)’s the only one who can handle crowds or interviews with any semblance of fluidity.
rob and kristen and well everyone except taylor, richelle and edi have no idea what to say to people and come off very- well what do you think of when someone says” …um …”more than really answers the question? taylor saves interviews, they should keep him for that alone!! plus he’s so serious about changing with the role! he’s had his hopes up! its just mean!
sorry Kassie but im with Kallie on the weather i so do not like cold weather unless snow is involved so i was very happy that it snowed here thursday but sadly my snowman died :'( and i hope they dont recast Taylor it will be so sad

THANK YOU GABRIEL!!! i couldn’t say anymore that you just did. Taylor did an AMAZING job as jacob and they want to recast him because he’s not as mature yet!?!?!? that’s ridiculous!!! anyways i’m jsut saying i agree with you 100% and if they replace jacob this whole movie goes down the toilet for me because new moon is my favorite out of all the books and taylor is my perfect jacob…. so i’m really upset that they might re-cast jacob because taylor is perfect!
Love the podcast, I have been mulling over a question for a while and thought who better to answer it or steer me in the right direction if it has already been answered.
Why do you think Jacob never imprinted on Bella? I really don’t understand the whole imprinting thing so I can’t understand why his love for Bella was not imprinting in a sense of the form.
Anyway would love to hear people’s thoughts.

Kiwi: Jacob never imprinted on Bella bc Bella wasn’t his true love. he loved Bella (in my opinion) bc there was a part of Renesmee that lived in her, and Renesmee, not Bella, is his true love. that’s my answer.

i def. agree with gabriel. i posted a comment like his on a diff website but seriously taylor has worked so hard for his part he deserves it more than any of the actors to be cast with all of the stupid stuff surrounding this movie like love triangles and drinking and all that taylor is giving twilight a good image actually he is puttin off a fantastic image and he is trying so hard to get into his role you can tell he really wants it. but also he has something to admire as well he is very calm and nice about the whole possiblity of being recast hes so respectfull of everyone yet no one is respecting him =(. i dont see anyone else as jacob if you cast someone in the first movie then that is who people are going to start imagineing in their minds as they think of the next movies in their heads it would just ruin it if they were to change him i wish they would at least decide already im tired of waiting plus now they are just being more rude to taylor by making him wait longer just saying =)
