Taylor Is in!

You can all breathe a sigh of relief because Taylor Lautner is going to continue to play Jacob Black in New Moon! Stephenie Meyer posted a message from her and director Chris Weitz on her site.
“Good news about New Moon from director Chris Weitz:
I’m very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he’s doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.
The characters in Stephenie’s books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I’m looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.

This is great news! Although I would have been grateful to see New Moon made into a movie regardless, I am so glad that Taylor gets to keep his role. He’s worked so hard for it, and wanted it so bad! That Michael Copon guy was too full of himself and too cocky, and hadn’t even read the books, where Taylor himself is a twilight fan.
Yes! Taylor is perfect for the role. I always hate it when they change up casting mid-movies. Anyways..this is a great opportuinity for Taylor to prove to everyone who doubted him that he can pull out an awesome Jacob!

I am very happy about this. Taylor is Jacob and i really didn’t feel like getting use to Jacob all over again. And Taylor really wanted the part, so i am very happy for him.

UGH! I cannot stand Taylor Lautner as Jacob… sure, he’s a good actor, and he’s got all the potential in the world to make Jacob’s character come alive, but to me, he’s too baby-ish. too young looking. and even though summitt has more funding and i’m sure they’ll do a much better job for New Moon, i’m not looking forward to seeing Taylor as Jacob. Sorry to all you Team Jacob/Taylor fans…

I think it’s definitley the best decision. I mean, if people don’t care about keeping all the Cullens’ height accurate, why fret over Jacob’s?

omg i totally agree with Heather D! it was so funny cuz i sent my friend a team taylor bumper sticker on facebook, and shes like, “um team jacob is already saved, didnt you get the memo?!” i was like WHAT?!?!?!i went onto stephenie meyers website in a heartbeat and read the announcement..then i ran to my room and jumped up and down for like 5 minutes straight!!!i was sooooo friggin happy!i feel like i can just relax now.i cant wait until new moon now!!!!!!!and i love the podcast btw!

Yay I love Taylor Laughtner,I am now 1 fourth team Jacob and 3 fourths Edward because of the way Taylor brought Jacob to life!I used to e just Edward
I just hope they will be true to the character. Although Taylor was perfect in Twilight, I’m a little sceptical about if he’ll fit the changes that Jacob goes through.
He need to buff up ALOT more.
This is my first time posting on here, and I couldn’t have picked a better subject matter to start with. I’m very very very pleased they decided to stick with Taylor on this one. I think he has such passion and commitment for this role that I just couldn’t see replacing him. He completely had the sweet baby-faced Jacob down packed in Twilight. I’m quite excited to see what he does with Jacob in New Moon, but I have complete faith in him. Congrats Taylor, can’t wait til next November!!!

I love all the characters in the Twilight saga and in the movie. I’m so happy that Taylor will be in New Moon. I think it would be weird seeing someone else act as Jacob. When they were talking about picking someone else because he needs to look big and 24. I just didn’t understand why they could film scenes like in Lord of the Rings. They could make characters short or really tall from the angle of the camera. Plus, they have enough money to get some better makeup this time to make him older. LOL! I can’t wait for New Moon! Yay!

YEA!!! Now I will be seeing the movie in a theater, opening weekend of course. However, I still have to ask: What too them so long to decide? I think Taylor deserves the part for all of his dedication to the character of Jacob Black, the movie, and the Twilight sereis in general. This made my day!
Thank goodness! Taylor worked hard and really had to fight for the role – I’ve always been confident he’d do a great job.

New Moon is looking VERY promising and I am ECSTASTICLY happy that Taylor will be Jake because if I was him I would have been devastated to not get a role I wanted and worked for, not to mention earned, just because I was physically inadequate in a cinematic era where they can make men ‘age backwards’ .
I have total faith in Taylor and ~I’m going to use a little bit of Spanish here~ *me cae bien*. LOL that means that I like him not only as an actor but as a person (based off of what I’ve seen of course) so … Congrats Taylor!

thankgoodness, i was so worried for a second. I am so glad. Taylor is perfect to play Jacob. No one else could play him. There would be a lot of disappointed fans out there if they re-cast him.
