Fanning to Get Fangs for ‘New Moon’?

According to E! online, the 14-year-old starlet — who has shared the screen with bigwigs like Tom Cruise and Robert De Niro — is in talks to star as the vampire Jane in “New Moon.” A source dished, “There were no auditions — they just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth.”
I personally, would love for her to play Jane. I’ve always pictured her to play Jane. She’s BEYOND perfect for the role. She would be amazingly cast.

I think 14 is a little young but I do think she’d be really good. I remember her in that movie with robert dinero and she creeped me out in it. LOL it will be funny to see others be affraid of her when she’s so sweet looking.
14 is way too young to play Jane! I know that in the book she and Alec are described as having childlike, angelic features and faces, however it did not mean that they were children. I think a pixie-like 20-somthing would serve much better in this role.

yeah, she’s young. but the romanians in new moon called jane and alec that “devil children” or something like that… i know it had *child* in it.
and dakota has all that. she can do that evil grin that jane has when she’s applying her abilities, and she’s younger so she’ll have that higher voice. she’s such an amazing actress too! I think this is the best New Moon knews for me so far! xD
No. She shouldn’t play Jane. Jane isn’t a little 5-year old girl. She is a small adult. At least in my opinion. And, Dakota will still grow and get taller, and errrr last time I checked, vampires don’t age – or grow!
Jane and Alec *were* in their early teens when they were changed. Aro didn’t want to change them that young but when you’re burning at the stake you have to do what you have to do. Dakota’s looking her age to me lately. I saw previews for her new movie and I think she’d make a great Jane.
I think she’d be wonderful for Jane, she’s a wonderful actress and I think she could really pull it off!! YAY!!!
I think with black hair she will look very Jane scary vampire ish!!! I’m really excited to see pictures.

ok so i just have to say hell no! mainly because she’s too young and i doubt she could do any good to the role of jane. i mean look at her does she really look like she could hurt edward and or bella or anybody else for that matter?
plus by the time she has to be in the future movies she will look ALOT different you do alot of growing up within a few years especially at that age.
just look at how fast daniel radcliffe, emma watson, and rupert grint grew up

NOOOO. I like her as an actor, but I like Twilight being a small-time-actors movie. It helps make them not-so-small-time-actors lol. So, my vote…NO

I will have to take back some previous post comments. I wouldn’t mind seeing DF as Jane. EVEN though she is a big name and I said they should choose complete unknowns. But I wont be hurt if they don’t choose her. The main cast is chosen , so I am satisfied!

I, myself don’t see her as Jane. Jane needs to be a young adult, not a preteen.
I’d like Dakota Fanning as Jane, but I don’t think she’s the best choice because she’s at the age where’s she’s still growing up and unless they plan on filming the movies one after the other, I don’t think they should choose her to play the role. If they can find someone older like in their early twenties who looks like a teenager and childlike then I think that’d be perfect.

I don’t think she has what it takes…I’ve never seen her portray any sort of wisdom or rage that Jane would have over centuries and centuries of torturing others for the Volturi. I’m hoping it’s a no go.

FIRST I wouldn’t get too worked up about it, after all the rumors are flying like crazy right now. Lets say it is true though, I’m a bit on the fence about Miss Fanning. I think she has potential, but not too sure that she could pull off Jane. She definitely has that innocent, angelic, childlike face that’s needed but would she be able to portray the ferocity or rage behind the face?!? For now I say don’t get your panties in a bunch, it might all just turn out to be rumors!
