Entertainment Weekly wants to know who your pick would be to play Alec, plus they offer their own suggestions!
“With news that Dakota Fanning will meet with New Moon director Chris Weitz next week to formally discuss her being offered the role of vampire Jane in the Twilight sequel, it’s time for us to help Weitz find his Alec, Jane’s bloodsucker brother.”
P.S. they also have info on where to buy Bella’s brown gloves in the movie!

I’d really like Dakota Fanning as Jane, but I’m just worried she’s going to change so much (physically) and in the 3rd/4th movie she’s going to look older than when they film “New Moon”

I don’t think they should choose really known and famous actors. I was so angry when I heard the rumor about Vanessa Hudgens auditioned fo Leah. However, I like the idea of Dakota playing Jane because she has some experience in the horror genre, and I think she could really pull off the creepy factor. I DO NOT think Lucas would make a good Alec. All I think about when I look at him is High School Musical, and that would NOT be good. Haven’t these HSM kids had enough of one pop culture phenomenon? Must they invade Twilight too? Geez.

I think the guy in the picture (I don’t remember his name) would be good as Alec, but I don’t know about all of the High School Musical attention. If Zac Efron suddenly going to show up in the casting I’m NEVER going to watch it! Sorry guys but I HATE High School Musical with EVERY fiber of my being!!

Ok so do I think they’re right for the part? Not so much, but either way I have to put a certain amount of trust in Chris Weitz… and keep my fingers crossed that he knows what he’s doing. The cast, Summit, and Stephenie seem confident that he’s completely capable of bringing New Moon to life. A little faith please!
Like I said before, calm down… it may turn out that’s it’s all just rumors anyway.

I always pictured Jane even YOUNGER… like nine or eleven years old at most…
for Vanessa Hudgens (rumored) to play Leah… I pictured Leah as a tall young woman, rough exterior with short hair, bitter face and sad eyes….not exactly what Hudgens stands for (HSM… *shudders*) It would be interesting to see what they are doing with Leah…
i like dakota fanning, but she doesn’t seem like a jane to me…. i could be wrong tho
as for lucas… definitely no, i would just be waiting for him to break out dancing and singing, and i can’t imagine him wearing a black cloak and looking scary at all

Do we even know if Jane and Alec are children?? Which would make them immortal children??? That the Volturi outlawed strictly which is why they came to try and kill the Cullens anyway??? Anyhoo, I dont think they are that young. 14 at the absolute youngest and because they’re that young, they are only kept on guard for their talent. Though I pictured Alec and Jane as adults (25-30), I think dakota Fanning fits nicely as Jane. I prefer that they cast relatively known actors for the Volturi because those characters have certain personalities that an actor with a little more experience can pull off. As far as the wolfpack, they should stick to newcomers and relatively unknown actors and they MUST be Native American.

Toby Hemmingway – now he would be a good Alec! Even more so if Dakota is playing Jane same wide eyes and bone structure, but he’s too tall for the part.
Who knows if they can make Taylor grow a foot, they can sure make a tall person look shorter.
Dakota as Jane ? Perfect ! She’s such a good actress i think it would work…But LUCAS ? URGH ! No HSM people PLEASE ! It’s just ruining the whole movie and he’s getting richer ! That’s not fair !

I don’t think either one would work. The need to find unknowns (or close to it). They’re’s both too teenybopper-ish to be believable.

I like Dakota as Jane even though she has a sweet face she looks like she can be mean. I also like Dakota as an actress. But on the other hand I’m not sure she can pull off Jane’s look. Jane is supposed to have really short dark hair and of course as a vampire isn’t supposed to age. I’m not sure if she will look as a brunette and her being around 14 or 15 she will probably change alot during the course of three movies if BD is made. Since people are suggesting Lucas as Alec I’m guessing they might keep her blond. I really don’t like Lucas as Alec he’s too much apart of the High School Musical madness and I just don’t see him as someone with the potential to be scary. Also Lucas is just to old for the part and like Alyssa I would be watching New Moon ( if he’s in it ) and keep expecting him to burst into song at any second. Sadly I have to admit that I’ve seen various parts of the HMS movies that he’s in ( my brother and sister love the movies and they’re on practically every time I walk into the living room, saw the first one didn’t like it ) which is why I would expect him to sing.
I like the two of them, they look like they could be twins, however, it would be nice if they were a bit younger. there would be no problem with fixing their hair color, movie magic and makup would make it a snap. I think it would be difficult to find two people who are younger then them, look like twins and are good actors. It think it’s a go.

everyone is going just a little over the top just because they cast one actor that you dont like does not mean that it will ruin the WHOLE movie as for how they fit im not sure lucus is rite 4 alec but dakota is not a bad fit for jane. In the book they are supposed to be very young and childish looking and also kind of innocent tho evil if that makes sense, i reckon if dakota had a brunette pixie cut she would look like jane, watever happens the directors know wat they r doing 🙂
