Dakota Fanning Talks ‘New Moon’ Rumors

Access Hollywood talked to Dakota Fanning about her interest in playing Jane in New Moon. According to the article, Summit has confirmed that the actress is in talks to play the role.
“I think it’s too soon to tell if I’ll for sure be doing it, but it’s so great,” she told Access Hollywood on Saturday at the junket for her latest film, “Push.” “I’m a really big fan of that series and the first film and all the actors in it, so it would be wonderful.”
Following Malkin’s report, a rep for Summit Entertainment confirmed to Access there had been talks with the actress.
“We are considering all actors that have the unique requirements for the look of Jane — Dakota being one of them,” a rep for Summit told Access.”

i dont think its really fair to judge… Everyone has a different idea of who should play each character and we should give whoever is chosen a chance and withhold judgement until we see what theyve brought to the role. Dont make me bring up the pattinson casting backlash.

I love Dakota Fanning but I think what made the first movie so good was there was nobody really famously huge. As a teen fan I have grown up seeing movies starring Dakota and although I think shes great and could pull off the description of Jane I don’t think she’s right for the part, IN THE MOVIE. Pick someone with a lower profile, who’s a little older.
There’s a difference between the rumors about Michael Copon and Dakota Fanning: Dakota didn’t start them because she’s not a DOUCHEBAG. This sounds like it’s a done deal, and most of us will probably end up liking her. I’m all for it, for one.
I have to agree with a comment that was made on an earlier post about her… in the beginning no one wanted Rob to play Edward and now everyone loves him. So just give her a chance guys if she is given the role. It’s not our decision and we need to trust Chris Weitz. He made a good decision keeping Taylor so he does have the fandom in mind. So just trust his choices and everything will work out.

She’s way to young, and innocent looking. The person who plays Jane should be dark and mysterious looking.

I do NOT want her to play Jane… really it’s just because she’s probably going to ask for a lot of money to play her. And i think that they should use that money for the wolves,to make them look real. Or, as real as they can make it seem… If she’d ask for not a lot of money then i think she’d be a really good Jane!

i’ve already said this before, buuut…
all you Dakota Fanning as Jane haters, this is the same situation the Twilighters went through when they cast Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen. Nobody liked it, besides the minoriity. If Dakota Fanning gets cast as Jane, personally I think she’d be amazing. However, i have a feeling that all of you haters are going to bound back and be all fans of her as Jane. Just think about it. Don’t judge her age, or her hair, or anything like that. That can all be fixed. Jane is supposed to look young anyways. The Romanians in BD called her and Alec the “demon children” or something along those lines.

i think she is too young to play this role. Jane has alot emotion to her and i dont think Dakota can show the right amount of it, plus i think she is tooooo young. Dakota, in my view, still seems like she’s only ten, i know shes not but still.Jane needs to atlest be twenty.
I’m guessing no one here has ever seen Dakota Fanning in Houndog or I Am Sam…anyone who thinks that she can’t show an emotional range might be missing a little something. No, Dakota Fanning is not who I had envisioned as Jane but at the same time, I never really saw Rob coming or various other decisions that I once challenged and have now come to appreciate.
OK all I see on this page is disagreement. I think they should give her a chance. We’ll probably be saying the same thing about Eclipse and Breaking Dawn later with another different actor. It’s true no one liked Rob at first and now almost everybody loves him. I think Dakota will suprise us. Don’t be so critical!!!! She might not even get the part. dont get me wrong i lovee dakota but she was not how i pictured jane. the book says and i quote :

I am still conceerned about the budget. $50 million is not a huge budget for a film. Let’s remember that the Twilight budget was $40 million and we got fairy music when Edward sparkles. I think she would do an okay job, I just hope the cost of a big name actress, or actor for that matter, since they still need to cast Alec, is going to move money away from the CG portion of human to werewolf transformation. I want that part to be too cool for words, rather than big names in the film.
