It’s not cool what he had to say. He’s just being a hatter and is totally jealous!! He had nothing constructive to say. He was just plain rude and nasty.
I love these videos! Kassie’s facials are hilarious, especially when they’re sublte, like she might just start cracking up at any moment while Kallie’s being all serious.
Well he was right. She is a good story teller and not a very good writer. You can’t be upset with him. He has been writing for a long time and he is a fantastic writer so I believe he would know who is a good writer or not. If you compare Stephenie Meyer’s books to other classics such as the Lord of the Rings or any of Jane Austin’s books then her writing is like that of a child. Don’t get me wrong i love her stories but with her writing style I feel there is a lot to be desired. Please do not have an uproar over what I have just said. This is my opinion and many of you would feel the same if you read other classics too. If you dont believe me about Stephen King being a wonderful writer, then go read the Shining or the Stand. They are amazing.
Libbey that’s not everyone’s saying ! Ok that’s what you believe and I’ve read the Shining and The Stand and I didn’t think they were all that special either but you KNOW WHAT WE ALL HAVE OUR OPINIONS AND IT JUST ISN’T COOL TO OUT ANOTHER AUTHOR THAT’S IT LIBBEY !!! STEPHENIE is such a sweet lady who knows her writing isn’t good and doesn’t need some author to announce it to the whole world !!!!
I’m on Team Stephenie and always will be ! GIRLS I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS KEEP THEM COMING !
Like I told ya earlier . . . he’s actually RIGHT! π Technically speaking, which he was, she is NOT a good writer. She’s a great storyteller, which S.K. also said. I don’t think he meant it as a slam, because he complimented her strength, which lies in storytelling. So . . . I don’t think he did anything wrong. Allow me a Dr. Phil moment here: Let’s get “real” – Twilight fans are a little . . . oh I don’t know, “oversensitive” to any critique of their beloved books/author, etc. But let’s not forget that even S.M. has said herself that she doesn’t consider herself a good writer, but a good storyteller. So my question is – why is she allowed to say this about herself, but it’s wrong/mean/whatever for someone else to say so? π
I did not say that it was everyone’s opinion. I was just agreeing with Stephen King and his criticism of Stephenie Meyer. I am sorry it isn’t “cool” but I didnt intend to be “cool”. I meant to be a critic thinker and to think for myself. You can say one of my favorite authors is not a very good writer if you want but i won’t get upset because that is just your opinion.
Another thing, do you know Stephenie personally? If you don’t then I dont know how you can say she is a sweet lady. Criticism is exactly what she needs if she wants to become a better author.
Well if you can’t compare her to Lord of the Rings or Jane Austen, then i guess it’s ok to compare her to JK Rowling because she’s contemporary too….oh wait, that’s what SK did.
I completely agree with Libbey and Amy Howe. Just because we really like Twilight doesn’t mean we have to worship SM as the best writer in the world. Yes, she’s nice and a good story teller, but as far as writing style, it’s not that great. There’s no reason for everyone to freak out about that because it’s true, and I’m think SM would agree with that.
This Stephen King story has REALLY gotten out of hand! I disagree with King saying “she can’t write worth a darn”, but the issue is that we (as fans) all take it so personally. It’s difficult for us because we all love the story so much and identify with it so much! I think the real problem here is the subject matter. It’s really an intense love story and how, in Bella and Edward’s case, that can be transformative and redemptive. Love stories are frequently denigrated in our cynical society, but I think it’s obvious that Stephenie Meyer struck a nerve.
Unfortunately, many who criticize the Twilight series or Stephenie Meyer – NOT STEPHEN KING – often include slurs about the fans who love the series. The fans have been dismissed all too often as immature, lovesick, insipid teenage girls who simply don’t know any better. I don’t blame the fans for firing back because they don’t appreciate being patronized or insulted, but I would say that everyone is entitled to their opinion and to keep in mind that both Stephen King and Jo Rowling have had their share of criticism.
ARE WE ALL REALLY SO SHALLOW AS TO CARE WHAT SOME GUY SAID ABOUT STEPHENIES WRITING_ AS OTHERS HAVE STATED WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS. SO IS JUST B/C HES A CELEBRITY GONNA CAUSE US TO CAUSE A BIG RUCUS ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – yes thats right i did use the word rucus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First of all I don’t really care what anyone thinks about Meyer’s writing besides I love it. I can read her books over and over for pure enjoyment every time. I’ve read a view Stephen King books in the past and I found myself wanting them to end half way through the books. They always have so much detail that drawls them out. Plus, I haven’t read a King book yet where I can say I like the ending. LOL! As for King books they are on the books shelf with layers of dust still.
hey, i didn’t think Stephen King had any right to say what he did. i’m with y’all. but i’m also with Leticia.
Kassie, i’m disappointed. yes, you made funny faces (that made me cuh-RACK up) but you didn’t wear your green eyeshadow! π lol j/k love the video! the people at Starbucks should bow down to you bc they’re in the presence of celebrities. (lol but no j/k)
Love the videos! I agree with what you said. He’s entitled to his opinion but I disagree with his opinion. I have read a lot of books and SM’s are my favorites!
Again another funny video, I love these videos. You guys are awesome. I didn’t like what SK had to say, but it is his opinion I guess, but I still didn’t like it. Stephenie is an amazing writer to me.
Okay, this is getting a little bit out of hand. I mean, He is entitled to his own opinion as does everyone (i really dislike Patricia Cornwell and Dan Brown. Am I going to get slammed about that?), but does his views on Stephenie or any her books change our opinions on them? Answer: no.
Stephenie Meyer isn’t a good writer, but she is a good storyteller. Stephen King is NOT bashing her at all, merely criticizing her. At some point, I do recall a time when Mrs. Meyer stated herself that she wasn’t all that great of a writer. There’s a difference between the writing and the story. Yes, the story is certainly appealing, but the writing could use more work. That’s what King is saying. Besides if Stephenie Meyer wanted to be better at writing she could take this criticism. We can’t all expect for everyone to love the series.
And as for taking it personally, that’s quite pathetic, I’m sorry to say. Don’t like his opinion? Then disagree with it, and move on. Simple as that.
Its not cool! I dont like what he had to say.
hahaha, Kassie’s face while you are being all thoughtful Kallie! π you guys are awesome
love the video π
you guys rock! love the video!
Love the videos

It’s not fair to compare Twilight with Lord of the Rings or Jane Austen. Seriously… They’re CLASSICS. She’s CONTEMPORARY!
I respect his opinion and I don’t think he was wrong what he did, but that argument is a little moot. There’s no way you can compare them.

It’s Our opinion that matters here.
Who the hell is Steven King and why did they ask an old MAN about a teen romance?
