My Chemical Romance Says No To New Moon

MTV talked to My Chemical Romance about their work on the “Watchmen” soundtrack, as well as if they would be interested in working on the New Moon soundtrack. You can read the article here!
“So, after knocking it out of the park with “Desolation Row,” are My Chem looking at a second career (after, you know, being in a rock band) scoring films? Given their former, rather vampirish past, they seem naturals for “Twilight” sequel “New Moon.”
“I don’t think so,” Way said. “We’re very choosy. … There were a few films that we didn’t do the song for because it didn’t fit. I guess a lot of people would say that a vampire movie would fit, but I would disagree with that these days. Even since Black Parade, I would kind of disagree with that. I don’t know if we’d be interested in that.”

Ok…It is their choice obviously, but with bands such as Paramore and Linkin Park having tracks involved within Twilight, surly they are ideal candidates? I’m being selfish I suppose, but I think they’d gain a lot more publicity if they took part in New Moon! And I know Kerrang would have a field day 😛
Plus…I’d love if they made a song for New Moon. It would indeed interest me hehe.

No no, I think it’s right that they’re not on it. If they don’t think they’re right for it, then lets leave it at that…. because quite frankly I wouldn’t want anyone who didn’t have a passion for it involved with the film! Obviously they don’t, so that’s THAT!

I love MCR! But if they don’t want to do it, that’s alright. I’m just impressed that Gerard didn’t completely dis the whole ‘Twilight’ thing! Way to restraint, eh?! But really, they are almost the only celebrities that I wouldn’t mind if they cashed in on Twilight.
I love MCR but amy is right, if they didn’t have the passion for it, the song would probably not be as good as it could have been.
I love My Chem and saw them back when they were a side stage band… but I’m completely okay with them not being interested in doing a song for New Moon. I don’t think it would really fit! I mean ya.. they were sorta into the darker vampire-ish stuff back in the day, but as we all know, Twilight vampires aren’t your run-of-the-mill vampires. I just can’t see a screamy MCR would fit.
the only thing i’m more passionate about than twilight is this band and though i’d love to hear something of their’s on the soundtrack, i wouldn’t want them to do something or agree to put an old track on there if they didn’t think it would work.
though i don’t understand why they wouldn’t fit a vampire movie seeing as one of their previous songs were remixed for the underworld soundtrack but i guess it was a different vibe and remix of a pre done track.
anyway…i’d rather they focus on their new album than a single track for the soundtrack, lol.

It’s actually refreshing to see somebody who ISN’T trying to get onto the bandwagon.
And I think it’s a little unfair to say that they’d be perfect because they *sound* like they’d fit or they *look* like vampires. It’s their choice, and they’re individuals. They just aren’t interested, it seems.

that sucks cuz I love MCR and I think their music would fit really well with the depressing theme of new moon, but i think they’re probably turned off by twilight’s image because people who haven’t read it probably think its all for preteen girls…and that definately doesn’t fit in with MCR

They would be so much better than the Jonas brother! My chem is my favorite. Bit I cant see their songs being in New Moon. While “Im nit okay” would totally fit for when Bella gets all crazy depressed about edward leaving. I just cant imagine that playing during that. lol

Other than that, MCR is lame. The song Black Parade is so ridiculous I can’t even listen to it! And with their attitude on how they are so above New Moon, good riddance!
I’m sure what MCR said was prob. taken out of context.but Stephenie Meyer even took the time to thank them for their music that inspired her to write New Moon…so to me it sounds like a smack in the face.

Don’t get me wrong – I love MCR and Twilight, but I think that since Twilight has become so popular *everyone* wants to do something in the films… including the Jonas Brother (eek), and I definitely don’t want to see MCR getting lobbed in with those talentless little boys who just want to get on the soundtrack and in the films for like 5 minutes of fame.

Ok, I think it’s perfectly fine that they don’t want to be on the soundtrack. They already stated they didn’t want to, Plus they did a song for a vampire movie already. But, like what Katie said, I wouldn’t want to see them lobbed with the talentless JB, IMO.
So in that case, I agree with Gerard with this. Although SM included MCR on the list of what inspired her, This would kill MCR. So good job, MCR.

Even though I love the Twilight series, I love My Chemical Romance even more.
And that is enough to say that a teenage movie really isn’t their thing.
It just doesn’t fit.
MCR make far too deep songs, and New Moon is really just an adolescent thing that’s probably gonna be forgotten after they’ve made all of the movies.
i think if mcr’s soundtrack is in new moon they’d be overrated just like the other bands out there. it would be cool if one of their songs be on new moon, but i love them the way they are right now. not overrated like the jonas brothers or paramore or w/e. but dont get me wrong, i love these bands too, but they are just a little overrated. well maybe a lot. lol
Oh, I love these guys. I’m so glad they’re not making music for New Moon; after going through the trauma of hearing fangirls say “ZOMG MUSE IZ MAI FAV BAND BCUZ SUPER MASSIVE BLAK HOL WAS IN TEH MOVIE!!!1one” (likewise with Paramore, Linkin Park, Mute Math, etc.), I don’t think I could take another band being ruined. Thank you, MCR. You’re my heroes. Don’t sell yourselves out. :]
Eh….The Twilight series is a bit light for MCR. I don’t think Desolation Row would really fit in New Moon. At all.

I love MCR and Twilight’s okay, but all of the stupid fangirls who fall over themselves when they see Robert Pattinson will probably start to like MCR. and then there would be more stupid fangirls obsessing over how hot Gerard is and shit.
Anyway, The Used said they were recording a track for New Moon, which is better than MCR because they are less mainstream styled and less people will obsess over hotness.
All the Twilight sequels suck! My Chemical Romance just saved themseleves from the worse. Honestly I am very glad they are not doing this.If they did I think they might lose some of the earlier fans and gain loads of edwardloving fangirls who wont dig deeper than their latest single.A Paramore repeat,basically..I personally would never leave them after what theyve done for me but I know people who would.I also think them being on the same CD as the jonases is plain wrong(I like the Jonas Brothers btw)MCR have lots of publicity already so they dont need this movie at all.Them going back to their dark,’vampiric’ roots would seem pointless and stupid now they seem to be going a bit punk now.I personally dont even think their song Vampires will never hurt you would even fit in with the movie,except the title mabye^^.
And to the people who think MCR are twats because they think they’re above new moon,well they are above new moon.They’re deeper,darker and (forgive me for saying this)just so much sexier.
I love the books but the movie was not good at all.I also dont see all the hype over that Robert Pattison/Edward Cullen.Gerard Way could kick his sparkly ass anyway.
Basically no My Chemical Romance in New moon Eclipse Breaking Dawn(and god forbid Midnight Sun).

Thank God, they’re not…that would be like selling themselves for publicity and that’s not what MyChem are about. They’ve gotten to where they are at because of their hard work and not by selling themselves. When I first read the books I was a huge fan but as soon as they made the movies I hated them. Because let’s be honest, Kristen Stewart sucks at acting. And if you’re going to fight with me about this watch the movies again and again until you open your eyes and see. Good for you MCR, you guys just show me time and time again to not sell yourself out and be yourself.
