‘Eclipse’ Gets a Release Date – But How Do the Twilighters Feel?

Feb 22nd, 2009 | By | Category: Featured Articles, Movie News

MTV has an article on the pros and cons of an early Eclipse release date.

“Okay, Twilighters, here’s the good news: You’ve made it to prime time. The release date is in late June, prime tentpole territory typically reserved for the likes of Will Smith, superheroes and hundred-million-dollar Michael Bay movies. No more of these November, let’s-hope-we-catch-the-teens-while-they’re-home-for-the-holidays release dates for you guys. In fact, a quick peek at the 2010 release schedule shows that “Eclipse” will be butting heads with such heavyweights as “Prince of Persia,” “Toy Story 3” and Jackson Rathbone’s “The Last Airbender.”

  1. Cedar says:

i think they r rushing it WAY to much and that if they rush it too much then the movies will not be as good.

  2. Nellie says:

Holy cow why are they going to release it like 7 months after New Moon! Sooo fast

  3. Moncerrad says:

I’m glad it’s not such a long wait, however maybe it wont be so great if its rushed.

  4. Monica says:

I agree this seems way too fast. I’d rather wait a full year then wait 7 months for an OK movie. Plus, I like the November release dates. My birthday is in November. 🙂

  5. TwiGirl says:

Make it as soon as possible but do a dang good job! But that is a little too fast, I mean come on 7 months after?! I want the movie ASAP but I dont want it to totally suck! Ugh Im undecided!!

  6. Harley says:

Eclipse is my fav book so i really want the movie to be good!!! i just think that they should spend a little more time on it even though i cant wait to see it!!!

  7. Harley says:

My b’day is in november too but it dont come out in nov here!

  8. Harley says:

The actors are getting older, but do they really change that much??

  9. Olinda says:

i think they should wait a little longer,
because if they do it fast i think they will not
act how they are suppose to act..
well but in the other side i’m really happy!
cause i can’t wait to see it!

  10. lariza says:

Eclipse is a good book, and they should probably concetrate one thing at a time, cuz while New Moon is going to be filmed, Eclipse is just starting. Way too rushed!

  11. angie says:

This is compleatly off topic but…. Prince of Persia really? really???? wow…. I’m sad for Jake Gyllenhaal. REALLY!?

  12. lauren says:

i read while new moon is in post-production, eclipse will go straight ahead with filming. they’d need a director soon, right??

  13. AMANDA says:

I’m split as bad as I am hungry for more checking out tst everyday for something new, I want it to be good too. The first movie was not that great to me I loved it only because I know the details of the story. I will continue to support it no matter how bad it might stink on big screen, I am a fan I just can’t help it. BUT its becoming for to commercialized and people are afraid that the twilight buz is a fad that will die down and lose its market so they are sucking it dry while they can. They don’t want us to have a second to forget about twilight so they are bumping it all out quickly. I for one am excited about the movies but I want more from Stephanie!! Give me more stories to read!!! I want midnight sun, i want to know nessie’s and jacob’s love story i want more!! I alos loved the host so anything steph can pop out i know will be awsome GIVE ME MORE !

  14. Marci (major obsessed) says:

    Toy story 3 really,,……………wow I am excited now………………..ha ha.

  15. Cathy says:

Lauren’s comment was probably right. As New Moon wraps, or is nearing principle photography, Eclipse will begin with the other director. I would imagine they would pick a new director within the next month or two and that one would begin pre-production with Melissa Rosenburg and others staying on board. It’s sort of like the did with the Lord of the Rings movies. Those were filmed simultaneously (of course, they had the same director) and they turned out beautifully.
