Is Drew Barrymore a Candidate to Direct ‘Eclipse’?
Feb 26th, 2009 | By Krystal | Category: Featured Articles, Movie NewsEW is reporting that Summit is searching for a director for Eclipse, and that Drew Barrymore is one of several people they are looking at.
“As Summit Entertainment looks to lock in a director for the third installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse, the company is talking to a select group of directors — including actress-turned-helmer Drew Barrymore, EW has learned. While this news may come as a surprise to some, Barrymore did just finish work on her directorial debut, Whip It! starring Ellen Page. Neither Summit nor Barrymore’s reps would comment for this story.”
What do you think? Do you think her family legacy and years as an actress qualify her for the role? Or would you rather see someone else?
that would be crazy! I love Drew.. but I’m not sure she could do the big fight scene at the end.. but who knows!
She’s HOT, thats all I NO! haha!
cool!
That would be interesting. She is a fantastic actress.
hmmmm wow…ummm this is interesting…
hmmmmmm
o____o
that is my reaction…that’s just…….odd.
she’s great and all, but I can’t imagine her as anything else but an actress, let alone a director for a serious movie which eclipse is going to be XD
i think thats kool!!!
i dunno… its a hard job & will b harder than acting
they sound kind of desperate. I love her as an actress but not a director
I think it would be great. And of course she could do the big fight scene, she was in Charlies Angels (which her production company financed!!!) And it wouldn’t be her first film to direct.
Plus she has been in the movie business her whole life, its in her blood. If anyone can she can!
ew.
I’m sure Drew is as a wonderful director as she is an actress, but I just don’t know if she knows enough yet or has enough experience to work on something like Eclipse and all the CGI stuff.
Sorry drew but I think it’s a bad idea…..i don’t even think she is a good actress…no offence to her or anyone that likes her as an actress.
Summit needs an experience director……Summit is so rushing into making the movies, I’m afraid it’s gonna kill it!!!
No! That wouldnt be any good.
Sure shes nice and all, but NO! no drew.
No.
:{ [stubborn face]
I knew she was an actress but i didnt know she was a director?…
I am so excited for new moon & eclipse to come out but twilight hasnt even come out on DVD!
This is making me really impatient! hahaha
I think she would achually be quite good. I assume that she would be a vampire because i’ve always thought she looks a bit vampire-esque. especially in that picture. I hope it isn’t just a rumour!!

WHAT?????!!!!!!! I have just been thinking about her being one of the volutri but DIRECTOR????? i feel sooooo stupid now. ehhhhh, i think she would be okay but i would prefer her as an actress. i think she could make it all dark and mysterious but i dunno…………………………..
until i see anything with the Summit seal stamped on it i believe nothing anymore. i swear that some of the media just play twilight lucky dip in the office and pick out names for different parts/roles.
after the whole ‘is taylor going to be jacob’ thing i swear summit knew all along and and just knew the hype in the mystery would make more news than if they had just said yes to taylor straight away. tbh it’s a VERY smart move on their part cause we all do their job for them with word of mouth and promotion but i just hope the movie pays us off for all the hard work we do for them basically.
drew is cool but don’t rule out one director before he’s even started shooting anything. they should hold off release of the 3rd movie longer; film it now but maybe wait til 2011, then we get more twilight over a longer time period and they get a chance for more cash so it’s win win

In all honesty I didn’t know she was directing.
It would be…amazing to see her direct it, but I don’t think the genre of the movie is her main key point in strength.
Of course, this is only judging on the movies she has took part in (an example being “he’s just not that into you”).
As they say, never judge a book by its cover!
We’ll just have to wait and see…
from me, it’s mixed emotions anyway =]
xox
What???? That’s a little far fetched right there. I mean… she’s a great actress and all… but a DIRECTOR for a movie we are majorly anticipating? Uhm…. I don’t like it…
Ok, I really don’t know…. Has she even read the books? Or seen the movie?
I really like her but… I don’t know if she could do the job and do it well, but if it ends up that she Is going to direct it, I won’t be upset.
NO! NO! NO! SHE IS NOT THE WOMAN FOR THE JOB! I THINK SHE WOULD DO A TERRIBLE JOB! NEED SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE! NO! NO! NO!
shes gonna make it all sparkles and sunshine with a couple charle’s angels fight scenes.
Drew is amazing. I love her so much. And altho she doesnt have a lot of experiance directing, shes been in movies her whole life, she knows how it works. I truely belive that she would do an amazing job.
I’m interested in seeing what Drew could do. I agree with Brandi and laura h.
NO. NO NO AND no
Seriously? Isn’t this a big enough movie that they can get a director with the experience, and credentials for that matter, to do it right? The whole multiple directors thing is more than a little worrisome in general though…
shes an awsome actress but as for directing NO NO NO
hmmmm……?! Why not just get a REAL director?!?!?!
Jazz (Team Cullen!)
I took directing in college, why don’t I direct Eclipse. Who next is going to want a piece of the Twilight pie?
She is a director, too. I’m pretty sure she has her own production company
