SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT STARTS PRODUCTION ON THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON
Los Angeles, CA† April 15, 2009 – Principal photography has begun on Summit Entertainment’s THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, it was announced today by Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Production. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner reprise their roles as Bella Swan, Edward Cullen and Jacob Black.† Academy Award-nominee Chris Weitz (THE GOLDEN COMPASS, ABOUT A BOY) is the director. NEW MOON is filming on locations in Vancouver, BC and Tuscany, Italy.
Also rejoining the movie are Ashley Greene as Alice, Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Kellan Lutz as Emmett, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, Jackson Rathbone as Jasper , Edi Gathegi as Laurent and Rachelle Lafevre as Victoria.
New cast members include the legendary Volturi, a venerable coven of vampires who weigh and impose the laws of the vampire world, as well as two new members of the Quileute Indian Nation. The Volturi include Charlie Bewley as Demetri, Jamie Campbell Bower as Caius, Daniel Cudmore as Felix, Christopher Heyerdahl as Marcus, all Volturi enforcers. Dakota Fanning plays Jane, a high ranking and powerful Volturi member and Cameron Bright is Alec, her brother. Noot Seer plays Volturi member Heidi. †Michael Sheen plays Aro, the Volturi leader. Graham Greene appears as Harry Clearwater, Quileute tribal leader and old friend of Bella’s father Charlie. Tinsel Korey is Emily, the fiancÈ of Sam Uley.
In NEW MOON, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love Edward (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and she finds her loyalties tested.
Jamie Campbell Bower was last seen in Tim Burton’s “Sweeney Todd” and is the lead singer of the band The Darling Buds. Daniel Cudmore played Colossus in the “X-Men” films, “X2” and “X-Men: The Last Stand.” Dakota Fanning was last seen in Summit Entertainment’s sci-fi thriller “Push” and provided the lead voice in the animated feature “Coraline.” †Graham Greene earned an Academy Award nomination for his work in “Dances With Wolves,” and has appeared in such films as “The Green Mile,” “Die Hard: With A Vengeance” and “Transamerica.” Chrisopher Heyerdahl has appeared in such films as “The Chronicles of Riddick,” “Catwoman” and “Blade: Trinity.” Tinsel Korey has worked on numerous films and television shows, from “Into The West” to “The Lookout,” opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt. She is also a singer/songwriter. Vancouver-born Noot Seer began modeling at age 13 and has lived in New York, Barbados, Guyana and New Zealand. She was a champion horseback rider prior to her modeling career. She made her film debut in the comedy “Head Over Heels,” starring Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Monica Potter. Michael Sheen last starred opposite Frank Langella in Ron Howard’s film “Frost/Nixon,” and played Britain’s Prime Minister Tony Blair to Helen Mirren’s Queen Elizabeth in “The Queen.” The award-winning actor was recently seen in “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.”

Yay!! it is good to finally hear about more cast!!! I was wondering when we were going to hear from Summit…. O.k. now I have to take in all the cast and see, but they all seem good!!!

OMG! I can’t believe the same actor who played alastair in Supernatural (TV show on CW thursday nights 9pm hehe promotion lol) He was absolutely the most freakiest demon on that show and an awesome actor. He might not fit the look of Marcus in my head but he can definitely pull off the creepiness a vampire needs.
Wow!! They have some AMAZING actors in this cast!! Plus, we have another person who plays in both Harry Potter and the Twilight Saga!! Plus he was in Sweeney Todd, possibly one of the most awesome movies ever!
So excited for the actor they picked as Marcus, that guy can really play creepy, psycho characters!!

I think its a fantastic cast, especially with graham greene and michael sheen onboard. They’re quality actors and will bring great depth to the roles of harry and aro.
I gotta agree with trendhater73…where’s leah? They’re not pulling an eric/ben merge for the movie and merging leah and emily’s roles are they? How confusing would that be?

the cast looks really good, as most of them are not hugely famous actors which like most of the twilight actors were before the first movie came out, so it should be good.

it´s great. i particually like Felix, heidi, marcus and emily. have to get used to the others, but i bet there´s loads of new moon mondeys (fingers crossed that Larry will do them) to get to know them. i shurley end up loving them all 😀

Seth and Leah had like no part in NM, they only made an appearance, so I am not upset that they are not in NM.

Micheal Sheen Wooooooooooooohoooooooooooooo! He’s a great actor. I am very pleased with all of them. For those of you who think Dekota Fanning will be a bad Jane, you need to read your books again! She’s perfect!
Hey the guy who is play ing Caius, he played Antony in Sweeney Todd. This exccites me because I loved the musical. But I digress, the cast seems like a REALLY good choice.

I am very pleased with the cast they all look good and we have some nice actors in there like Michael Sheen and Graham Greene. My only wonder is why they made Marcus and Aro and Felix so much older than Demetri and Caius…. I wouldn’t have minded them old or young but as long as they look cohesive… Idk whatever. They all look good.

I love love love Graham Greene! glad he made it in for a “short” stint… he could have been Billy! but the Billy they have it good too.
I think they did a real good job with casting! Some of them are not how I pictured them while reading, but still very good!
wow, with the exception of Dakota Fanning, the casting is spot on. Graham Greene shoulda been Billy and Gil Birmingham shoulda been Harry is the only thing. but looks awesome! now i’m REALLY stoked for NM!

i think dakota fanning would be good if she can pull it off. she’s done lots of different stuff and i think she can probably do it.
but other than that, i think the cast is the best it could be and the volturi are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
