There was so much good, and so little bad… but one thing is clear, The Twilight Saga: New Moon was “sort of beautiful”. Initially we thought of three crucial categories, music, cheeze-factor, and fan reaction! Then, after the third time we saw the movie, we decided we couldn’t leave out all of that ‘beautiful’! So keep reading for more about the scenes that we couldn’t keep our eyes off of!
We admit that when we first heard the soundtrack we agreed it was ‘okay’. There were obvious songs that we loved. And, songs we were curious to hear/see fit into the movie, but for the most part we weren’t too impressed with the compilation as a whole… Then we saw the movie! Now we both just want to listen to the CD over and over. We really feel like they have great music to support each and every scene. Kassie says, “It is music that moves me!” Top picks from the soundtrack include Rosalyn by Bon Iver & St. Vincent (Kassie’s fave) and Hearing Damage by Thom Yorke (Kallie’s fave).
Now, on to what we refer to as the ‘Cheeze-factor’…..yes there were a few moments. We loved seeing Bella changed into a vampire in Alice’s vision, but we have to admit it was one of the more cheezy moments in the film! A second scene that was obviously cheezy was the motorcycle scene with Bella and Jacob! The timing when Jacob gets on his bike to ride to Bella’s rescue, and the way he gets off the bike really looked cheezy! (Honestly, we would discuss the fact that Jacob takes off his shirt in a cheezy way… but Kassie would rather save it for the ‘beautiful’ portion of the review!) Honorable, yet cheezy, mentions include various lines from the wolfpack (i.e.“…let the wolf out of the bag!”) and human classmates (i.e.“Bella’s back!”)
.
Speaking of honorable, Twilight fans are the BEST fans! Twilighters also tend to be the most excited, exhuberant and determined. We commend you all for buying tickets and waiting in line all night. We were right there with you! I (Kallie) would like to add that the best part of opening night was hearing everyone talk about how much they loved the movie while walking out of the theater. Kassie would like to mention that we all know how HOT Jacob and Edward are…. So why do you feel the need to scream every scene they appear in? “Come on!” She pouts. Plus, Kassie is pretty sure the majority of the people sitting around her had read the books. She asked, “So what in the heck are the “oh no’s” and moans for? REALLY? Control yourself!” (You know Kassie and I rarely agree on things, and this will be one more topic for us to discuss/argue about on the next podcast!)
Now on to the ‘Beautiful’! The Twilight Saga: New Moon is filled with beautiful bad guys, stunning scenery, well-formed wolves, and heart-stopping heroes and heroines. There are so many scenes worth mentioning it is hard to narrow it down! The Volturi were intriguing and creepy, just as we imagined them. Some of the smallest facial gestures made us squirm. Chris Weitz did an amazing job creating the visual of what we have all seen in our mind’s eye, while reading the books. He also brought attention and life to characters like Jessica and Jane by capturing off-handed murmurs. (You know we all do it too!) While the wolfpack is still young, and a little awkward, it played to their advantage, considering they all are getting acclimated to shape shifting. But we have no complaints when it comes to their sense of humor or wardrobe! Lastly, we were blown away by Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson’s performance. They all have their good looks going for them, and in New Moon we get to see each of them dig deep and reveal the characters we all love to read about.
So, to wrap it up….We have seen The Twilight Saga: New Moon three times and plan to see it many more times! We can agree that we actually love the movie, and can’t wait for it to come out on DVD!
