Summit Replaces Eclipse Editor
Mar 2nd, 2010 | By Krystal | Category: Featured Articles, Movie NewsEW is reporting that Summit has replaced Eclipse editor Art Jones with Nancy Richardson, the editor of the first film. Hmm…
“Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the uber-successful Twilight series, confirmed this morning that it has replaced Eclipse editor Art Jones with Nancy Richardson, the editor of Catherine Hardwicke’s original Twilight film. The studio is not placing blame on Jones, who previously worked with Eclipse director David Slade on his horror film 30 Days of Night as well as Slade’s Ellen Page-starrer Hard Candy. They do believe, however, that Slade’s material – which they call “very good” – needed a stronger edit. The studio has more confidence in Richardson, who they say understands the emotion of the characters and is an ace at balancing action with the other elements of the film.”
Okay – I am just a little concerned about this considering the rumors that went around about the directing on Twilight being bad and that it was the editor that saved the movie. I don’t want it being a mediocre movie. I want it to exceed my expectations like New Moon did. It would be absolutely great if they could have Chris Weitz do Breaking Dawn. He did such an awesome job and really got “it”.
agreed.
<3 chris weitz best thing to happen to the twilight saga since stephenie meyer herself! lol
I agree as well. I <3 Chris Weitz! He did such great things with New Moon. I hope the editor switch works out ok because Eclipse has to be AWESOME!! 🙂
Hey! My name is Jayne with a y too!!!
I don’t like Chris Weitz’s New Moon. It’s very slow in tempo and boring in the way it’s been cut. All images are from the same distance and from the same angle: from the side. The camera person in Twilight and Catherine were able to create the intimacy and subtlety of the events: facial expressions vary very much. Weitz failed in the intimacy and keeps his distance as a director. It’s just idiocy to think that removing clothes from the male characters will bring enough emotional intensity and sparkle. At least I’m not that simple minded. Also the music in New Moon was terrible country, western and old people’s music from the 50’s Tarzan films. In Twilight Catherine was able to combine great music with the visual world that was interesting and beautiful. I hope Catherine Hardwicke is going to direct the movie where Bella gives birth. I really don’t want to see any male director hassle that.
