Meghan: What we’ll do is just start here, you’ll do one question and keep going around…

Letters to Twilight: No pressure!

(Laughing)

Meghan: So alright, go for it!

Stephenie: Wait! Wait, wait, wait! Do you all have your tape recorders on?

All: (Nodding and saying yes!)

Stephenie: First question, because we are going to deal with this right now, is Midnight Sun! Right? So we don’t have to…

All: (Lot’s of blabbering…)

Stephenie: I know that’s what everyone cares about.  I also know that the right answer would be for me to say “Oh yah, it’s done! And it’ll be out next month!”  But that’s not true.  It’s also not true that I’ve got a ton of work done on it, and that’s what I’m working on.  What’s true is that I’m really burned out on vampires.  And, I don’t want to write it badly.  So I want to wait until I’m excited about the material again, and I’m excited about Edward, and that it’s something that’s motivating.  You know, when a story is keeping me up at night, and I’m waking up at 4 am in the morning and thinking ‘Yes! That is what is what should happen in this moment!’  Then that is when I can write with happiness! So, right now it feels like homework… it really does.  And when things feel like homework they go very, very slowly for me.  So it’s still not a “It’s not gonna happen!” I want to do it when I can do it right.  You know, I have my share of human stubbornness, and I have to tell you, it’s a little bit hard when people are like “This is the only thing you can do, and it’s the only thing we care about!”  And, you’re kind of like a three year old, you want to be like “I’m gonna do what I wanna do!” Yah.  “You’re not the boss of me!”  So my mom has backed off a little bit.  Actually, I was at The Fray concert, and I was hanging out with the guys backstage.  They’re really cool, and I was talking to Isaac about it.  He was like, “I really want you to do that!”  And I was like “Oh my gosh!  Come on!”  You know I can’t get away from it anywhere.  And, we talked about stubbornness and reverse psychology.  I have this great thing he signed for me, it says “To Stephenie, Don’t work on that stupid book! Nobody wants it anyway!”  I have it by my computer.  That really is the right direction to go with me, because I’m like “Huh!  Maybe I should do it!  I’ll show you!”   Psychology!  Anyway, that’s Midnight Sun!  so, that should disappoint everyone!

Twilight Series Theories: I don’t think so!

Stephenie: Ok!  so now we’re done!  (Laughing) So, I’ll see you guys later!

All: (Laughing)

Letters to Twilight: That’s totally understandable.

Twilight Series Theories: I would rather wait.

Twilight Source: We’re not reading it until it’s done.

Twilight Series Theories: I haven’t read it!

Letters to Twilight: You haven’t!

Stephenie: The people I worry about are the haters. You know, that like to talk about what a horrible writer I am and all that stuff.  When I do write it they’re going to say “Oh, this was worse than the first half because now she did it badly!”  No matter what I do it’s going to be that way.  There’s a mental block there.  You know what people are going to say, so I have wait until it’s just me and the book again.  Then I can feel excited about it!  You know, sometimes I’ll sit and think about the car chase, that we don’t get to see from Bella’s perspective.  I have that one completely mapped out in my head.  That one wouldn’t be hard to get down. Stuff like that, it gets exciting. Cars.  Ya know!  The first car he steals I have picked out, and then the second one.  It get’s messy!  It’s gonna be great!  You have to get excited about things!  But, that’s Midnight Sun!

Twilight Series Theories: Check!

  1. Sandra K. says:

After reading numerous comments, I thought that I would add mine. I am 64 years old, a mother of three and a grandmother of five. I have always loved the vampyre books and movies, but Twlight has them all beat. Stephanie M. has a wonderful way of writing that keeps you entertained and wanting more when the books are finished. I have read the books six times and BD seven times. (My fav) I’m glad to read that I am not the only one that has caught the Twi-bug. My roommate thinks that I have lost my mind. 😎 I have bought all the books that Stephanie has written (loved The Host) and will enjoy them over and over. Thank you for writing them, Ms. Meyer, and I look forward to your next novel. (I loved Midnight Sun as far as I could read it. Hope you get back into the mood to write more in Edward’s POV. He’s my favorite character!)

    • Ricci says:

Sandra, I was SO happy to read your comments…I just got finished reading the 264 pg version of Midnight Sun for the 3rd time, and I am in my 60’s as well….I have been embarrassed about my love of the Twilight Series due to my advanced age, but I feel better knowing that there are other “older Twi-hards” out there….I kept looking at the page # I was on reading Midnight Sun knowing that it was ending soon….I kept thinking “Noooooo…” I did not want it to end!! I just hopped on this site by accident not knowing if Stephenie was even planning on ever finishing the book….I know the “issues” that were involved, and how it left a bad taste in her mouth (venom?)….but I truly wanted to read the ending and am thrilled that she thinks she will eventually finish it….I, too, am strictly in the Edward corner…

      • sierra says:

where did u find and read the whole book????

      • Avis says:

I, too, am an older Twilight fan, and I really hope Stephanie feels the urge to finish Midnight Sun!! I’m 51, and had no idea I would fall in love with the story as much as I have. I, too, have them multiple times, I watch Twilight every time it comes on Showtime! LOL!!

i am infatuated with stephenie meyers books, i think you should not listen to the ney sayers and write what you feel. i read the draft of midnight sun and loved it ,hope it also will be an addition to the twilight series. i am truley wanting to know more of edward and what his thoughts were about, his charecter is just as important as bellas and his version i think is worth knowing.

    • Lisa says:

O.K. so my kids call me a “Twi-Mom” – how embarassing! I have to admit I love Stephanie’s writing and I am long past the teen years but somehow she reminds me of what it was like to feel that way. I want to hear Edward’s side of things. It is so refreshing to hear the male point of view as told by a woman. O.K. Stephanie, do it in your time but DO IT!!!!!!!

    • kiantae mullen(yes i'm a girl) lol says:

no,, i its not published but i do hope in the near future it will be!!! i hav read everything tht has to do with twilight besides the graphic novel and im still need more!!! i cant get enough of twilight…stephenie meyer has definitely out done herself with twilight saga series. she deserves an award in my opinion!!! but back to topic lol no its not published but she did release the part of midnight sun that was leaked on the internet, on her website (stepheniemeyer.com| twilightseries| twilight) to be exact. if u havent read it already, you should know its great but if u cant stand to not be able to finish it yet then dont read it cause it stops when it start to get even better=(

  4. debbie says:

I’ve just finished the twilight series for the umptenth time And Edward is by far my favorite . I am re reading midnightsun and lookforward to Stephanie finishing it, but if asked what I would realy like I’d have to say that midnight sun not only gave us Edwards view of twilight but of the whole saga. The discription of Edward as the burning man in breaking dawn is hunting and to know what he’s feeling in his words would be heart renching. We get to read Bella’s thoughts/feelingd and Jacobs so why not Edward. so Stephanie please a grandmother happy and give us one book to tell the whole story via Edward. I am sure I,m not alone in wishing for this

    • Glynis Wood says:

      Debbie,

Like you, I am holding my breath for the entire works through Edward’s perspective. I do hope Ms. Meyer can overcome her hurt, disappointment in the illegal posting of the draft to Midnight Sun and complete this book. And then write the rest of the story from Edward’s perspective.

I am constantly searching the web for an update and am ever hopeful that I will read that she has re-commenced this project.

May I also suggest that you read The Host… you will find a yourself just as invested in the wonderful characters that Stephanie has created in this story. I am also looking forward to sequels to this work.

      • debbie says:

        Glynis
thank you for the suggestion The Host is at this moment in time sitting on my bookshelf and thou I have tried to read it feel that I am not in the right fram of mind to do it justice and so its on hold. I am attempting to go at least a month without picking up a twilight book. Yes I have had to go “cold turkey”(thank God for DVDs). If Stephanie happends to read these comments please hear aplea from a twimum/gran unlike many of your readers and fans for those of us of more mature years please don’t leave midnightsun too long I’d like to read it befor I reach retirement age (70 here in England).

  5. MIDNIGHT SUN says:

I hope please that she does the book if i have to wait ill wait because i want the book to be good, when i finished the 4 books its waas a depression no more twillight books:( now im reading them all over again and im way more obssesed i though that steph wasent going to write midnight sun but im so gld to know that she is thinking about it i hoope she des the 4 books in edward vision

  6. Glynis Wood says:

I am an “older” Twilight fan. I hope that the author gets to see some of these comments posted.
I do not understand the “dog in the manger” attitude of critics who suggest that Ms. Meyer is not a good author. Surely, a good author is one who can writes well, can capture the imagination of the reader – and Ms. Meyer certainly has done this in spades.
Not only do I find her books wonderful, I also appreciate her depth of research and re-introducing me to the classics in both literature and music. I think that her books not only introduces her younger audience to these works but renews the interest of people who may well have lost touch with them.

I have devoured all the current books in the Twilight series as well as the Host. I am very hopeful that Ms. Meyer will complete Midnight Sun … as I think that the story from Edward’s perspective is thrilling as it provides so much more insight into ALL the characters .

I will be on constant watch for upcoming works by Ms. Meyer

  7. suzanne says:

Stephenie Meyer gave my daughter a priceless gift – the love of reading. My teenage daughter has dyslexia and has struggled with reading her entire life. No matter how many different types of books she was introduced to she never enjoyed reading. Last year her friend encouraged her to read Twilight and she fell in love with the book. Seeing her become a confident and enthusiastic reader was just an indescribable feeling. She then asked me to read Twilight and I fell in love with the book as well. Since then both of us have read the entire series and have enjoyed many thoughtful discussions on each book. I do hope that Ms. Meyer will find her happiness in writing about vampires again and complete Midnight Sun. Whether or not that happens, I will be forever grateful to Ms. Meyer and her wonderful talents.

  8. terri says:

i will start by saying sorry for eney spellings that are not right, im not verry good at it, sorry.

3 things i would like to say if thats ok.

1, mr. meyer should be very plessed with her work, there a not meny people that can have harf a book put out there, that can capcher so meny other minds the way her work can.

2, i like everyone els read the books a lot and hope ms,meyer will do the rest, but i will wait as long as it takes.

3, this is to eney one with a prob with the books, ms,meyer is’ent making eneyone read the book ,so if you don’t lick the books then don’t read them, you shunt put people down coz you don’t like there work, its not nice and you would not like it if it hapend to you, treat others who you wont to be treated.

    sorry again.

  9. sue c says:

like Glynis I too am an older reader of Stephenie’s book I have read all her books twice allbeit Twilight saga is my favorite. I have read Midnight Sun draft and absolutly loved it. Just to read from Edward’s perspective was just what I always wanted to know and I’m hooked.
I’m not getting any yonger Stephenie so please do your best!
By the way any one who ever says Stephenie Meyer’s is not a good author just count the book sells then ask how many times the fans have re-read the books.
I check every week on Stephenie’s web site to see if there is any Midnight Sun updates.

  11. Sophie says:

I’m a sixteen year old girl who has read all of the twilight books, and watched all of the films that have been released, i found out only yesterday about the whole ‘Midnight Sun incident’ after discovering a blog that Stephenie Meyer had wrote on her website, i was very dissapointed, as i learned that the book that i had been looking forward to reading just a couple of minutes before, had been spoilt for everyone by some malicious and selfish person who posted it all over the internet over two years ago. Stephenie Meyer had said that she did not know whether to complete it as she had lost the love and motivation for the story, this angered me to the very core, who was this person to post a story that had taken Stephenie a lot of time, effort and imagination to write, they had no right!! Stephenie had left a link for her fans to view the draft at the bottom of her blog, and although i was tempted, i did not attempt to read it, as i felt i was almost intruding on something that should not be tampered with as it was no right of mine to take away the element of surprise from Stephenie Meyer and her new novel. (Therefore, if Stephenie will ever continue with this, I WILL be buying the book when it comes out.) I immediately searched on Google, to see if she had decided to continue the excellent idea within the two years of writing her blog, and I was saddened to find nothing, but am so so glad that I have now found this, which has given me new hope for the future. I understand and fully support Stephenie’s decision to put ‘Midnight Sun’ on hold, and will be waiting patiently to see any more exciting news in the hopefully near future! I would just like to add, that I am a big fan of Stephenie Meyer, and she has a lot of respect from me for how calm and sensible she has been about this whole situation, no matter what, I will continue to support her and her cleverly written novels. Well Done Stephenie Meyer!!!!

  14. Shranix says:

I am a die hard fan of Twilight…especially Edward….Not only waiting eagerly for Midnight Sun,,,but also for more after Breaking Dawn…..There is no end to my curiosity about the “After” life of Bella (as a vampire) and “Edward and Bella”..I rely want more…….even after Breaking Dawn…Also,,Edward’s version of all the novels and not only of Twilight-1.

  15. Tina E says:

I am 38 and completely in love with these books. I have only just read them and have now forced them on my mom. Edward is by far my favorite and have fallen in love with the love story of Edward and Bella. I was drawn in and could not put the books down. After reading them I see why so many people have become addicted to the books and the movies. My husband thinks I have lost my mind. I am eager to read them all again. Thank you Mrs. Meyer for your wonderful story telling. I can’t wait to be drawn in by more…

  16. Darcie says:

I am 30 and I love the Twilight Series!! I keep reading them over and over. I read the Midnight Sun draft at least 3 times!!! Ms. Meyer you are a very wonderful author. There will always be haters in this world, what is sad is that they have to put others down to make them appear better. Looking forward to reading The Host and whatever else you might write.

  17. Jeanne Harbur says:

I am 66 years old and think you are a wonderful writer. Don’t let anyone tell you differently! I tell people you are the Shakespeare of our time — you understand human nature and put everything in beautiful language and I can hardly read any other fiction now since I have found you. You are just so much better than anyone else! You have created a fantastic world and it seems so real. I hope you write many more novels (including more Midnight Sun and sequels to The Host), but if you never write another thing you have earned your place in history. You are that good. Thanks for making my life better!

  18. Kathy says:

I am 57 and a huge Twifan. Love the books and movies. Read all 4 books 4 times and can’t wait to start them again, have watched the 1st 2 movies about 20 times each or more and can not wait till Dec. to get Eclipse. Also have read Bree Tanner and Midnight Sun 2 times. I also am patiently waiting for Stephanie to get back into it to finish it. Maybe she will encompass all 4 books into one from Edwards POV, that would be great. And yes Edward is my favorite, my husband name is Edward also, so that works out great. I am so glad they are doing Breaking Dawn in 2 parts, there is so much to capture it’s almost that they will have to follow the book exactly. It’s a shame they didn’t do that with Eclipse, but it was still good.

Ohhh myyy Goddddd!!! I have read the draft of Midnight Sun and was absolutely blown away!!<3 I know Stephanie has a lot on her plate and some one with as much talent as she has,I know she could do much more things. However I hope she does finish Midnight Sun:) Stehanie has no earthly idea how much I live vicariously thru her Twilight Saga! I have all the books she has done, I have read my books repeatedly since I have gotten them.I hope to add this one to my collection as well! She is very talented and I hate that someone ripped her spirit about finishing this book.GGRRRRR People should keep their hands off of things that don't belong to them. They have no idea how much they knock the rest of us out of!!! Nor do they care.

  20. Kelli says:

I’m so happy to know that I’m not the only person who’s had to make an active effort to not read a Twilight book for an entire month.

Whether she finishes Midight Sun or not, it was one heck of a story, wasn’t it? I’m so glad I got to feel this way again. 🙂

  21. Meeko says:

I have a question for Stephanie Meyer
How could you stomach letting them destroy your books with those films?
I was more than disappointed I was quite angry and can no longer stand to read any of your books. Maybe it’s better midnight sun isn’t finished the media and merchandise will destroy that one too

  22. Jin Jin Cullen says:

OMG……………..before reading the comments on this site, i thought i was the only girl in d world soooooooooooooooo super obsessed with the TWILIGHT SAGA!!!!!
I mean my cousins look at me and wonder “hw cud she be so hung up on this thing”
but little do they know how much stephenie meyer has created characters that captured my heart *especially my EDWARD*
Midnight Sun is awesome, I too had problems reading it becuz i thought it was intrusion but like bella’s effect on edward, it just kept luring me in an i cudnt help but break the rules, lol
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE TWILIGHT SAGA AND MIDNIGHT SUN
Stephenie, you are nothing short of s genius for such excellent work an i kno regardless of what anybody says

I’m 31 yrs old with 3 kids and work fulltime at first I thought what the big deal was about this book till I started reading them and fell in love with them I really hope Stephanie can continue midnight sun…I’ve try buying other book because honestly I hate reading & twilight series inspired me too actually read….:-( but honestly I been buying books and their nothing like twilight…..So I hope Stephanie can read all this comments and get inspired to continue writting Edwards POV cuz there is alot of people out here that want more of it.

  24. Leah says:

All I can say is, don’t let the haters stop you from doing something you love. The millions of Twilight fans around the world will love and adore Midnight Sun and anything else you choose to write. You are an amazing storyteller, and you deserve to see it published alongside the others.

  25. Ivy says:

I have to say I love your books and was always more of a Jacob fan until I read the beginning of Midnight Sun. Edward’s super possessive behavior didn’t make sense to me until I started reading how difficult a choice he had to make about whether to be around her. Saying that his point of view was more interesting and in depth was an understatement. So far Midnight Sun is an excellent journey into Edward’s mind and hopefully will continue into the end of the book. Maybe if the burn out fades writing books based on some of the other’s point of view could be as interesting.

  26. Lillian says:

I fully understand Stephenie Meyer’s difficulty. However, I must add that even if finished I cannot be content with just Midnight Sun. There is yet a whole side to the twilight universe that is yet shrouded in mystery. What was Edward going through in New Moon? What did he do for those long months of seperation? Did he return to the home of his human life? How did he approach the Volturi when he thought Bella was dead? What did he see in their minds when their lives stood upon the edge of a knife? How close to death did they really come? Upon his return to Forks faced with the recollections of Bella by other parties during that bleak period what did he think and feel? It doesn’t stop with new moon but Eclipse and Breaking Dawn you get hints of Edward’s POV, but there is nothing like delving into his side of the story. For me Twilight will never be complete without Edward’s POV. As it stands we see only one half of an amazing story. Has any one noticed how many re-writes of Pride and prejudice there are on the market these days? I think its because we never get to see the great romance from Darcy’s perspective. So I hope Stephenie will finish the whole saga from twilight to Breaking Dawn with Edward’s important perspecitve before another party makes the attempt.

  27. Tabitha Voisine says:

I have read midnight sun over and over i love it and cant wait for it to be finished ive read the twilight saga and midnight sun at least a dozen times. 28. Mystique says:

  29. Stacey says:

At the end of 2009 my best friend introduced mi to the twilight film i watched it and was instantly hooked i had the watch new moon wen it came out in the cinemas and we went to watch it together. at the begining of this year that same bestfriend ended out friendship. it left mi very poorly emotionally and phyically an not wanting anything more to do with twilight either as fear of upsetting mi. but i another one of my friends who we hae now become best friends encouraged mi not to forget about twilight and enourged mi to start reading the book. it was a contest as to who would finish first she’d already finished twilight and was a 1/4 way through new moon. but mangaged to overtake her. and finishe al 4 books befroe her. as i was reading i felt my emotional scares that the other girl had left were healing. i started to become the girl i used to be. everytime i am worried or upset i start to read the books again it has just took mi 3 weeks to read all 4 book. i have only ready midnight sun once and i am vowing not to read it again untill it is complete. i have also choose the name of renesme as one of my children name when i have children. i want to thank stephnie meyer very much for her writing and hopes that when she’s in the right place emotionally about midnight sun as i would love to read it and many more on the cullen family. thank you ooo muh u gave me my life back xxxx

  30. Melissa says:

I have to admit I did read midnight sun (Very shameful I know.)and I L-O-V-E-D it! I need more! I have read the twilight books so much I have started quoting them! I am personally Team Edward(except when Jacob is shirtless) and I think he story should be told! I think that finishing the book will bring all the fans closer to Edward and help us understand him more. I completely understand about taking your own time and that , Stephenie,so I will keep reading Midnight Sun over and over again until you do finish it. Thank you for the gift of Twilight Stephenie! BTW I am 11.

  31. Debbie says:

Hello to all my fellow Twifans.
Well I have suffered pain, and my poor family my mood swings but I did it YES I went a whole month without reading a Twilight book not even a movie companion found it way into my hands(give yourself a pat on the back Deb). However I am making up time I have just finished Midnightsun for the 4th time and have started to read the other 4books once more. I would like to point out that I read all the time and often have 2-3 books on the go at once so I’m not completley obsessed yet., but I keep coming back to the Twilight saga. Reading these books allowes a person to escape the presurses of every day life even if itsonly for a little while.

    Goodbye for now Debbie
P.S reading the comment about Darcys point of view a booke by Linda Berdoll titled Mr Darcy Takes a Wife. carries on were P& P left off and allowes the reader into Darys heart & head.(I’ll never look at Mr Darcy in the same way again).

  32. Caz says:

Would anyone else love a bookshelf full of Novella’s …. I think it would be awesome for stephanie to write novella’s on all the charaters what happened a bit before they were turned, how they felt during and after. Can you imagine Carlise story and esme – all of them even the wolves Sam was the first have they all went through it their thoughts and feelings and then their feelings on Jacob imprinting on Nessie and having to work with vampires…. totally genius!!!!

  33. Carolyn says:

I have read all four books eight times and just can’t seem to put them down. I have read the rough draft of Midnight Sun and fell more in love with Edward’s point of view. I am trying to wait for the actual book to come out. I really love the story all the way through and just can’t seem to get enough. So in favor of reverse psychology “Everyone is burnt out on the twilight saga I can’t believe you are thinking about writing another one.”

  34. Austen says:

Well, a lot of comments have been posted and I’m not sure I can really say anything more than what has been said, except to the person who insulted the movies…. seriously, if you can’t say something nice…. keep your mouth shut! Anyway, it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who can’t go a month without reading the series over and over and over again. I read the first three books in a weekend. I started the first one (which was the only one I purchased to begin with) at 3 pm on a Fri and finished it at 6:15 Saturday morning. I then went to sleep and was at the bookstore by 9 am to buy the other three books. I finally had to stop reading at 1am Saturday night/ Sunday morning because I was starting to not be able to see clearly LOL. Basically I was done with all four books by Tuesday (only because I read the 4th one slower because I didn’t want it to end).
It was after reading the whole series for the second time out loud to my husband (he really didn’t have a choice in the matter but ended up loving them) that I began to hunger for more information, anything that would satisfy my craving for more. I found Stephenie Meyer’s website and discovered Midnight Sun. I did read it, from her website and I fell in love (of course). I too, search her website looking for any spark of hope that someday the story will be continued. I imagine when all the mania dies down, the movies are all premiered and out for sale and her life quiets down then it might be the right time. I was just ecstatic to find this interview and hear that the story has not been canceled permanently. The waiting, I feel, most of us can live with and understand, it was the “it’s never going to happen” that left us all heart broken. As a mother of two I understand the concept of reverse psychology.
I am great full to be able to experience this series of fantastic novels. As far as the “haters” I know a college literature major (who had never read the books) who was talking about how Stephanie was this “terrible” writer… I laughed at her and said is that why her books are so popular?? I told her that an honest critic would get both sides of the story before she went around stating her opinion so openly. So… I loaned her the books 🙂 She called me in the middle of the night several times playfully yelling at me because she had to work in the morning but was unable to make herself stop reading and go to bed. She did not say another word against Twilight after that.
I will say, after reading the post on Stephenie Meyer’s website about how Midnight Sun got leaked it’s obvious that it happened when the copy of the story was in the hands of someone she cared about and trusted. It’s interesting that the name of that person has never been revealed, that’s probably a good thing. I’m obsessed with the books but I’m not insane however, I would bet money that some of the fans are…. I really am glad I am not the person who did this. I like to think that maybe, somehow, it was an accident and that this person did not purposefully betray Stephenie like that. However, I imagine that that’s not the case. It must really suck to be the person that millions of people are furious with right now and have been for two years. Honestly, I hope that person has apologized to Stephenie and I would personally like to see that person issue a written apology on the page of every Twilight and Stephenie Meyer fan site for what they did to Stephenie and her fans. It would be the least that could be done.
Well, I enjoyed writing my blog and reading the others! I will continue to read the saga over and over, I see no reason to break the addiction… it’s not hurting anything and I will continue to read every one of Stephenie Meyer’s works that she releases and, like millions of others, will continue to wait patiently for Edward’s chance to speak. When the time is right, of course. 🙂

  35. Renee says:

I just have to say that I Love Twilight. I have read the books at least 10 times. My husband and children are tried of seeing me with the books. I will admit i read Midnight Sun on line and i Love it. It is great to see Edward’s side of this beautiful love story that has been created. I hope that Stephenie M. does 4 books from Edward’s side. THAT WOULD BE SO GREAT. Mrs. Meyer’s i know you said that you were burned out but it would really be great. BTW I am a 39 year old mother of 3 and a grandmother. Thank You for your wonderful writing of the Twilight Series.

  36. Melanie Hargreaves says:

I read the twilight saga and LOVED it – but when I read Midnight Sun it added a dimension to the story and characters that made the other books even better…. I dont think anyone could read Midnight sun and not love Edward… I too will be estatic when Stephanie is able to complete to book – I will be one of the first to buy it. The person who posted the draft and hurt Stephanie should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves…. I hope that the messages of support that she recieves from the people like myself and those above will encourage Stephanie to write the narrative that is clearly in her to write… because Edwards story deserves to be heard.

  37. Kelsey says:

I read the draft of Midnight Sun and of course I loved it! I loved knowing Edward’s thoughts and feelings. Another thing I really loved was knowing Alice’s feelings since Edward could read her thoughts. When she tells Edward to not kill her because she already loves her. I started tearing up, I love it already. I hope there are many editions to the Twilight Saga. I would love to know stories about all of them. And more about Nessie and Jacob in their life together…but I know that it will still involve Edward and Bella:) Can’t wait for the Official Twilight Guide either!

  38. alyssa says:

Oh please! She wants to wait because she hopes people will just forget the content of the draft. She’s pissed off that she lost half the money cause her books are expensive and not everyone choses to spend so much money on them eespecially if they can get them online for free.I bought ever twilloght book she wrote(and I enjoyed every single one of them) I don’t think it’s ok to download ifrom the Interner and I think it’s her work and she should get paid for it but…Please, don’t come up with crappy reasons..And btw SHE WILL NOT SAY(EVER): I am finally writing again/It’s almost done/It’s coming out in 6 months.
What we will hear is probably:It’s coming out in 2 weeks.SHE WILL NOT RISK THIS HAPPENING AGAIN,EVERYTHING IS NOW A BIG SECRET.For all we know the book could be already done by now

    • Katy Alex says:

Well Alyssa, it’s comments like yours that create discouragement for Stephanie, and just make the rest of us shake our heads. You obviously don’t get it.

Stephanie, you follow your heart. It’s because you followed your heart, and your wonderful imagination, that we all got this gift which is the Twilight Saga. It truly has been a gift, and I for one, will continue to enjoy it over and over, the books and the movies. I will also not miss anything else you write and publish. I will not read Midnight Sun until you’re ready for me to, and I hope you will tune out those who have to be negative, and realize that there are more of us who love and respect you and your work than those who have to be critical. Anyone who says you’re not a good writer is either jealous, or another “negative nancy”… some folks just can’t help themselves. With all the books you’ve sold, whether you’re a good writer is not even in question. Their loss! I look forward to a long relationship with Stephanie Meyer!

    • Austen says:

Thanks a lot Alyssa! Geez! …. and how many books have you written and published since you seem to be so educated on the issue?!?! We could all hope that she is done and that it would be nice if she said that it would be out in two weeks. However; I think we all must be patient. I’m glad you have pointed out that you have purchased her books (and love them) but if people want to get on here and submit comments of understanding and support for Stephenie then that’s their right. Who knows… maybe her holding out on writing is related to her emotions towards the infringement on copy rights that seems to be so common these days. If that is part of her reason for her reluctance then again, that’s her choice. This should be a lesson to us all about what it does when copy rights are violated. However; to accuse her of this being about money is plain rude! It’s obvious she loves these books, that she loves the characters and that they have taken on lives of their own within her life (this is a gift that most authors seem to posses, why their stories are so real because the stories become real to the author) this is why she feels so violated by what happened. She feels that not only has her mind been intruded on and shared across the internet without her permission but that the intrusion is against the characters of her books that she has grown to love. When a person is betrayed and hurt (especially if it’s by someone they care about which had to be the case here since only people she loved and trusted received copies of the story) then money is rarely a thought. Her reaction is one that is completely understandable and justifiable. I hope she knows that she has supporters and people who who, even without ever meeting her, feel close to her having seen so deeply into her imagination.

  40. Spike's Girl says:

Hey I know what Steph means about it feeling like homework… I’m writing a book series of my own (not vampire related) and I totally skipped writing the first book because I just wasn’t getting into it, and I’m having a way easier time writing the second book. But in a couple of months I’m sure I’ll be all excited about the first book again and actually write it. I think it would help Stephenie a lot to write another book, not related to vampires at all (maybe not even fantasy or sci-fi). Even if she never finished it, it would eventually get her back into the mood for Midnight Sun.
I finished the Midnight Sun 264 page rough draft about a month ago, and when I came to the end of it was I was like “Noooo – I want more!” It was so good, especially for a rough draft. Stephenie Meyer is a goddess when it comes to captivating her readers.

  41. Tonie says:

I’m relieved to fine out that I’m not the only 38 year old that loves Twilight. It felt a little wierd reading teen books and loving them so much. I have read them more times then I can remember. I’m completely obesses with the series.
I have to agree with an earlier post when that said that anyone who thinks Stephening Mayer is not a good auther should count the books sold and than take into account how many times those same books have been re-read! Take heart Stephenie, if everyone said they liked your work you wouldn’t know how special your work is to those that truly do love it. I couldn’t help myself in reading Midnight Sun and can’t get enough if it. I can understand the heartbreak involved with the leak, the intrusion of privicy and can only amagin the pressure you feel from your fans with finishing the book but I’d like to say we all want a book that the auther is satisfied with and happy to put out there, not rushed. So take your time I will be looking forward to reading another beautiful book written by a beautiful person inside and out. Thank you for your generosity, and bravery with sharing your stories with the rest of the world.

P.S I think that if Stephening can forgive the person or persons involved with the leak, then noone else has the right to hold a grude against who ever it is.

  42. PANAMA MOM says:

I will never forget when my daughter was 13 and started reading the whole Twilight Series, her usual “reading-is-boring” teen motto changed dramatically when she virtually plunged herself into the books, made me run after the books at every bookstore and camped inside her bedroom hardly lifting her eyes until she devoured each book. Curious about her sudden love for reading, which she never shared with before this, and her intriguing quotesfrom the stories, I got myself into the books and that’s it, I was completely hooked. Something different happened. Even though I have enjoyed reading all my life, the Twilight Series have been a gift to my senses and connected my inner self to my daughter and there is no way back, making me remember that it doesn’t matter if your read classics, short novels or blogs, if the reviews are good or not, what really matters is when reading reminds you “to feel” whatever you do. Thanks Stephenie!

  43. Jesse says:

I really hope Stephenie doesn’t let the leak of Midnight Sun affect her finishing the book. It is more uncommon, but I’m a 20 year old male and i just love the Twilight series, it is really something special. I’m a person who doesn’t even like to read. I was first introduced to twilight when the first movie came out and I have been hooked ever since. I have even read the last two books and Midnight Sun several times. There is a void in my life without Twilight, Please Stephenie, finish Midnight Sun…

  44. jenny says:

I think that Stephanie should finish writing Midnight Sun, dont let the fact that bits of it have leaked onto the internet distract you, your books are great ! I always wanted to read twilight in edwards point of view, and then my friend told me that stephanie was writing Midnight Sun, please finish Midnight Sun, my life has litteraly changed after reading twilight <3 Pleaseee finish it xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  45. fedora davis says:

I clicked off Twilight so many times while looking for “something to watch.” It sounded so ” Vampires? Again? Let’s find something else!” One evening, out of pure boredom, I clicked on Twilight. I was hooked. It was absolutely magical. And I had missed it all : the movies, the magazine articles, the interviews on talk shows…. and Robert Pattinson with the rest of the cast! I realized I needed to do some catching up, buy back the last two years, grade fewer papers… have a life! Nothing has ever caught my imagination as theseTwilight movies have. I bought all the books last May and DVD’s. I have been in good company
ever since because I do love to read but never have the time. I spent the summer reading and watching the movies and reading again…Now I have something happy to look forward to. Yeah, I have stayed up too late at night, watching, reading, searching the internet for the latest news. I have read what was available of Midnight Sun, and I think it’s written really well; it’s maybe my favorite. I simply and absolutely love it. So, please finish it, SM! It’s a gift to be able to inspire. I didn’t get to Europe last summer
as I often do, but I had the greatest summer, and if I could change it, I wouldn’t. Thank you for everything.

  46. Catherine says:

Oh Stephenie Meyer! Please don’t finish that book.. Please! I won’t even read it! 🙂

    • jennifer says:

What the hell is wring with you, you fucking fuck if you dont shut your bitch as up ima come and beat the hellout of you you fucking asshole

    • Jade says:

lol I really don’t think Ms. Meyer reads this so reverse psychology wont work. lol but it was funny to read. Also if she reads this and makes a comment she wont use her real name lol.

  47. Jessica Ross says:

i am a mother of three and i used to be a big time book reader( Dean coonts) anyways i stoppped reading for many …i mean many years …basically just lost interest in reading until i read my first stephanie myers book and now i can’t stop reading …i think her books just keep getting better and better. I hope she doesnt stop writting its actually an adventure ever time i read one…i escape my own life for the time i get to read!

  48. Mercedes says:

This year I had the chance to read the Twilight series. I am not a teenager or a mom of one of them, and probably this was the reason it took me too long to find these books. Immediately, I was hooked up with them (like many of Stephenie Meyer’s fans) and could not stop until I finished Braking Dawn. I have to say that I even felt a little bit sad that I was finishing with this story. I enjoyed the books very much, they are full of emotions and feelings. It may sound silly but they transported me to another world where I felt alive, and they made me think about my life and other people’s life. I really love the books! And , yes, Edward Cullen is my favorite character! I have also been catching up with interviews, articles, fans websides, etc My next step is to watch the movies even though I have already seen trailers, interviews with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart and the rest of the cast, books, magazines, etc. and it is only because I wanted to read the books first. Well, I started reading the books again, and I am still enjoying them very much! Stephenie Meyer, you are a very talented and creative writer, prove of that is ‘us’, all the people who have lived and enjoyed your writing, and we are lots!!! I hope one day you feel inspired to continue with Midnight Sun, that would be brilliant!!!

  49. Deanna says:

SM-Please continue your writing on the Twilight Saga! Finish Midnight Sun first and the lets see another kindof like Harry Potters author- she keeps writing! There is a lot of story left- It cannot end with Breaking Dawn! I love Edward and Bella and their connection on and off screen-

  50. Shari says:

    Stephanie,
I don’t know if you will ever read this, but I’ll go out on a limb here and hope that you do. I’m a writer too, so I get it when you say you have to be alone with the story. Do not attempt to write the rest of Midnight Sun until you get that feeling, you know the one, where you think you’ll explode if you don’t get the story out of your head, and the only relief you can find is to type, yeah that one.
And please don’t listen to the hypocits and critics; they are just jealous and we have no room in our heads for those people. Just do what you do and follow your heart as you did with every Twilight story. I read what you have written on Midnight Sun and in my opinion it’s your best work to date, so don’t screw it up by letting anyone preasure you into writing the rest of it before you are ready. As much as I would love to read the rest of Midnight Sun and as much as I enjoy Edward’s POV, we can wait. Thanks so much for creating “A Wonderful World.” Loui Armstrong would be thrilled.
