Hey Ladies…
Great podcast again… I understand you are really busy but I really missed your podcast these last few months.
I just wanted to comment on an listener email you guys read on the show, wondering if Jacob had phased first since Sam let him be alpha. Jacob explained to Bella, I think it was in Eclipse, that Sam took the role because he was the first one to phase. When Jacob phased, Sam offered him the position because he knew he was the true alpha. Jacob declined because he didn’t want to be in or lead a pack.
Looking forward to the next podcast… xo
Hey girls. Glad to see another podcast from you again. Have been missing them for a while!
I also have to comment on the Jacob/Sam Alpha dilemma. Based on the email and your comments, here are my thoughts and questions:
– The wolves don’t initially phase because of age (becoming a ‘man’), as proven by Seth Clearwater. (Sorry, debunking one of your theories)
– The wolves don’t initially phase based on trama, as proven by Quil and Embry (no trauma, except maybe peer pressure). (Sorry, debunking another one of your theories)
– I don’t think Jacob let Sam be Alpha first… once Jacob changed, Sam offered him the position and he turned it down. The problem I have with this scenario (and this goes to Stephanie Meyer) is this… When the Cullens moved to Forks, precipitating the wolves shifting, Jacob should have phased first, as the natural Alpha male. Seth is younger than all of them, so Jacob’s age shouldn’t have affected his birthright, especially since it was only a year. Once Sam phased, Jacob could’ve turned the role over to Sam then, as he would’ve been the Beta.
Anyway, these are my thoughts and while Stephanie had her obvious reasons for writing the story line this way, it’s just something that has bugged the critic in the back of my mind. Thanks for the fun listen during my day.
Was this the episode where you were wondering if Edward is a virgin?
I’m sure he is, because of the conversation he has with Bella at the very end of Chapter 14 in Twilight.
“That’s nice. We have that one thing in common, at least.” ~Edward
