Edi Mue Gathegi was born on March 10, 1979 in Nairobi, Kenya, though he was raised in California. The 6′ 1″ actor attended the renowned graduate acting program at New York University and has acted in many film and television shows including “Lincoln Heights,” “Veronica Mars,” and “House.” Edi will next been seen as the vampire Laurent in the film adaptation of “Twilight.”

Laurent is a “traditional” vampire (meaning he feeds off the blood of humans) and is part of a coven with the notorious James and Victoria. Laurent leaves for Alaska after Victoria and James decide to track down Bella. Instead of finding a home among another group of “vegetarian” vampires in Denali, Laurent finds it hard to adapt to their strict feeding habits and occasionally cheats by drinking from humans.
