Taylor Lautner is Jacob Black!

It has been confirmed in an article released by the Peninsula Daily News today that Taylor Lautner is playing Jacob Black in Twilight! The article also discusses some of the filming schedule, and confirms that they will be filming in LaPush!
I’m a bit disappointed that they didn’t find a Native American but I was very impressed with the video on YouTube of this boy’s martial arts abilities. I really hope they find a NA to play Jacob in MN and EC.
I’m happy that he is playing Jacob Black. Him or Steven Strait is good

I don’t think people get why Taylor not being native is insulting to is that actually are. We finally get a move that makes Natives (first nation guys) look cool and breaks the stereotypes that the only movies we can do are westerns where we are either killing some poor family or dying from the blankets we received from the government. So to have a non-native casted as a Native role? That is an insult in a sense. If a girl of native, hispanic, african-american or asian descent was casted as Bella than people would riot! Yet we are supposed to be happy they found a guy who looks to have dark skin and hair? O_O

I’ve been trying to find a decent Twilight podcast for ages and when I found you guys on iTunes I was thrilled. Your podcast is really fun and upbeat and I just love that. i cant believe they got that guy to play jacob. that peed me off. he looks soo little i hope he dont play in the 2+3 ones too cuz he would look soo out of place. and edward -noooooo! i mean hes a cool actor but he is soooo not an edward , he is suposed to be ( and please note this) HOT not some guy who u thought would look just OK but HOT!! but thats just mine and everybodies elses opinion here where i live soo just have fun messing up the movie.=) no offence (because u more than likely r not the one makin the movie)!!=)
I think he would be a good Jacob Black only if he doesn’t gel his hair in spikes. That is just nasty! But he is cute like Jacob so it is all good.
I absolutely think that they nailed Carlisle on the head! He is an amazing product of awesome casting! Unfortunately, I am not so thrilled about a) Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and b) Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black. Ergh. I am not happy, in the least. Robert Pattinson looks like a fish. I want my Henry Cavill!
I know Carly you are so right. Robert Pattinson looks so different then how Stephenie described him. He looks so weird with his hair and his tight face. I thought Edward was so handsome he was suppose to look like a god. Robert should not be playing him. I wish Taylor Lautner was not Jacob Black, because I will just be thinking about the kid from Sharkboy and Lavagirl, and how he was not good in that movie. It is so frustrating!!!
Taylor Lautner would look so out of place. He looks like he could not play Jacob at ALL. And when Jacob becomes a wolf he gets big. Taylor looks small and scrawny, and bad for the role. I wish they would have got someone better. All the other characters are okay. I think Alice is a little different then I imagined her though. The girl who plays her is not very cute.
To me, for this kid to be Jacob Black is utterly disgusting. Their make-up artists are gonna have to do something /serious/ for this to work; his face is much too pretty, doesn’t have the strong features of a handsome aborigional kid; his hair is much too short, but they’ll change that, so you can’t really complain; and he looks really, really small for the part.

Aw come on people.. there’s really no use complaining about the cast anymore. They’ve already decided and they’ve started filming so there’s no way they can change the characters. I hate how so many people are complaining about the actors.
Every girl has a different point of view of what is considered a ‘hot guy’. I think Robert is just okay but im not complaining about his role as Edward just because he’s not ‘hot enough’.

In my opinion Taylor is 100% amazing and great for the part of Jacob… i just got into the whole twilight series and i love it…. I think that Taylor will do the part justice with ease… and i think that he is perferct for the part and i agree with you jade… the directors picked who they wanted… and i am sooooooo glad that they picked Taylor for the part Jacob

The auditions were held in Oregon, quite a bit away from the reservations where the bulk of the Native American community has been banished by the U.S. government. I seriously doubt the production stopped to wonder if the real Native Americans of this country could AFFORD to fly/drive all the way to Oregon, just for a large possibility of being turned away. (Maybe they missed the memo that most of the economies suck down there…)
I may not be full-blooded, but I know a Native when I see one, and honestly, Taylor Lautner looks like an English American mutt who just happens to be brown. Sorry if that offends anyone.
Maria, thank you for explaining. Honestly, I feel that if an Asian or African American had been casted as Bella, the Caucasian community would have freaked out. Native Americans are a serious minority in this country, and when a big role comes along in which the actor is supposed to be Native American, and ends up not being so, it’s a huge insult to our community.
Y’know, the Japanese were pissed that a Chinese actress was used in Memoirs of a Geisha, because they were hoping that the true, un-glamourized old Japanese lifestyle would finally be revealed–an American film that is a true testament to Japanese culture. Most Japanese families won’t even allow that film into their household. Even most of the modern generation is pretty ticked off about it. Just an example.
I’m not happy with Taylor Lautner as Jacob. I’m sure he’s a lovely person, but he doesn’t have the looks or the husky voice.

But Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen grew on me, and now I love Robert Pattinson … I’ve been trying to get Taylor Lautner to grow on me, but he hasn’t [yet].
I don’t care that he’s not Native American (and in case anyone has a go at me for saying that, I wouldn’t care if Edward was black and Bella was Chinese); even if he had the russet skin colour Jacob’s supposed to have, I wouldn’t be happy with him.

Well, here am, going against the grain. I am full blooded NA and it doesn’t bother me that he isn’t actually native. It is the idea that they are Native. There aren’t many Natives in Hollywood….the main one being Adam Beach (and there as heck is no way that he will be Jacob). I see Steven Strait playing this role and he isn’t Native. Big fricken deal…I am not insulted by this at all. I saw pictures with his wig on and I think things will be fine. Don’t get your nose bent out of shape until you can point out some people who are better. Meyers said she only wanted actors to play the roles…no singers, models, etc… And perferably actors who are not “newbies”…so what can ya do? Again, I don’t think it is a big deal.

I don’t like Taylor Lautner as Jacob. He just doesn’t fit the image of my Jacob and even though I know that no one can really fit that image, they could’ve at least tried to come close.
Having a non Native American playing a Native American role really is insulting. I’m not Native American and one of my good friends a Native American and she could tell that he wasn’t.

I am though, going to with hold any further judgement till I see him in the movie. Hopefully he can act like the Jacob we all know and love.

I said to one of my friends that Jacoby Ellsbury should have played Jacob- he’s native american, but i don’t know if he would fit the role and he would be too busy b/cuz he’s a baseball player, so idk…one of his brothers could hav done it…maybe…but they have sum1 so w/e
ok so, theres alot of talk about the 2 actors that will be Edward and Jacob.
At first i was dissapointed with who was chosen for edward. but the more i looked at a picture of him that wasnt from harry potter i saw how he could deffinetly be edward. he kinda rubbed off on me. lol.

Hes my favorite character in the twilight series.
when i saw taylor was chosen for him, i was less than hopeful. Ill always remember him as the kid in cheaper by the dozen 2. as much as it was a dissapointment to me (i agree that steven strait would portray jacob better but he is far too old for the role of a 16 year old) i think that taylor will grow into the role.
because if you go back to twilight, jacob was 16 and he hadnt yet become a werewolf. and then in new moon he grows taller and older and his voice deepens drastically. now all these things are deffinetly not taylor, but its hollywood and they can change different variables to make it fit.
This is one series i wish they wouldve left in text alone. but with what ive seen so far, I hope it turns out good and with the characters i hope they live up to not only MY expectations.. but to all of yours as well.
It blows my mind that Shark boy I mean Shark teen is that cute. He will do great in the movie. And i am shure they will work hard on his. Trust what they are doing and this movie will be the best of all times.

okay so when i first heard that robert was playing edward i was like NOOOO! i mean edward is supposed to be GORGEOUS. but he is slowly growing on me. i saw some stills from the movie and was like, well mabye it won’t be so bad but still…….then it comes to jacob and i was like well there is still hope for some hottness on the screen. so then i saw taylor and i was like, “THANK YOU GOD!!” so quite bagging on him. i think he will do amazingly and i am very happy with the casting of him as jacob. i do agree though that he might be to “little kid” kind of cute for the role in the 2nd and 3rd book. but for the first book he is spot on. hollywood will have to work it’s magic. and liet e just say that the guy who plays emmet…..OMG. i am going to melt every time he comes on screen i just know it.

Wow, people. Let’s just be excited that they are even MAKING a twilight movie. Seriously. The people ripping into these actors are just ridiculous. If Stephenie didnt like any of these actors, she wouldn’t let them portray HER characters. If it’s ok with Stephenie, it’s more than ok with me.

okay, I personally think they chose really wrong for the cast. Edward is supposed to be insanely beautiful. they cant fool people by putting on makeup and other crap like that on him so that they can make him look a a vampire! I found it hard to imagine Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black at first, but with a video on YouTube in the wig…Well, I’m not sure. I like that they cast Taylor as Jacob–I wanted to see him in another movie XD But he looks WAY different with long hair. And it should definately be in a ponytail like in the book.
As for Edward, I wasn’t really happy at first because all I could think was, “Oh, my gawd, Cedric Diggory is playing Edward Cullen.” But you know what? If the casting-person thought he was good for the part, then he’s good for the part.
So stop ya’ll’s complaining and see the movie on December 12 before you judge if they’re “good enough” for the movie. Personally, I think they could’ve done better for Bella, but I’ll just have to wait and see.

I think this Taylor Launter kid will be a great Jacob. You can almost feel the joy gushing from him when he smiles. Plus he’s suppose to be a dedicated martial artist. Most the pictures I’ve seen of him are a few years old, he doesn’t look like that. I saw a tiny clip of the filming or Twilight and I saw him in it dress

Now for Edward. Everyone is so caught up on if Edward is hot enough, yes he’s suppose to be just beautiful but that’s not the most important thing here! I think they picked the right guy. Look at the descriptions of him in the book,he looks thin from far away, then up close you see many muscles. He’s tall and angular, they’ll do his hair and give him contacts and boom one Edward to go. He’s a decent actor with the right looks, give him a chance and stop being so judgmental on looks alone, Edward is more than just a pretty face.
I think hes perfect for the job and anyone sayin hes not is truly retarded! just cause they didnt put sum1 yuu didnt imagine! well they are lookin for casts the author imagined not every single person that read the book!

Just letting you know, Taylor will be fine because he does have experience as an actor and a martial artist.. and in the first book he doesn’t have to be huge, because he doesn’t come into his werewolf-ness until the second book. He was taller than Bella, but not overly huge, and Kristen is actually pretty short, so the contrast should work out well enough.
Remember, he thought that it was all legend and Bella flirted with him to get information about Edward. So, Taylor will do fine, especially since he doesn’t have that large of a role.
It isn’t as if they cast him as Edward.
I mean, the interviews with Robert do not make him look very intelligent, but his acting is decent enough, just like musical artists.. not very intelligent in real life, but their performances are phenomenal.
Remember, you can ‘hate’ on the actors chosen, but it wont change anything because they have already started filming.
The fact of the matter is, they cannot find a young handsome American Indian who also happens to be an actor… its a rare find at all, and the only American Indian actors out right now are adults.
I’m sure there is hidden talent somewhere, but it will not be in this movie.

I have to admit I was skeptical about some of the choices for actors for this movie. I hated the choice for edward…until I saw the trailer. They actually are making good choices and I think this guy wil be great in the role. Him being or not being Native American has nothing to do with why people want to see the movie. Most people I know could care less about that kind of stuff
If I had a choice between, Edward and Jacob, I would choose Jacob. Hands down.
Taylor Lautner is the most perfect guy for JB! First of all he is HOT with all caps…. Look, I know that a lot of people aren’t happy with the casting. But seriously, people, they’re out there just trying to do their jobs? Have any of you ever tried to cast anything? It is ridiculously difficult. I won’t pretend to be a professional, I’m just an amateur stage director, but casting is still pretty difficult. You’re never going to get the perfect fit for any role immediately. Character/actor fit shows up more on stage/film once the actor has had time to get into character.
Besides, Stephenie Meyer has okayed the actors, and she says that Kristen and Robert have great on-screen chemistry (insanely important for this movie). So if all you are going to do is complain, don’t say anything at all. You’re really raining on the parades of those of us who do support the movie.

My goodness. My daughter and I have been GOOGLING like mad for info regarding the movie. My original intent was to pre-read the book to see if it was to grown up for her or not, but then I had to know what happened next… and read all three in 4 nights. While she doesn’t know names of actors…even at her young age she was able to say that Pattinson (after I told her “he played Cedric”), while a talented young actor that he is, does NOT fit the description given by the author. I most certainly would have preferred to see a beefier version. My daughter and I both agree that Edward needs to be more… muscular. Who would have fit the description more would have been TAYLOR KITSCH, HENRY CAVILL, or CHANNING TATUM. I would also agree that I would have liked to have seen someone of NA origin playing as Jacob. For Jacob, while Taylor is cute, that’s just it. He’s “cute”. Posey or Strait would have fit the bill much better. Last but not least… Alice. I’ve no idea who the girl playing Alice is.. AND THAT’S FINE. You can’t have the entire movie being big names. You gotta get your break somewhere ya know. BUT… from the photos she doesn’t look girly enough. I would have never thought of it off the top of my head, but we saw it suggested elsewhere, and agree, that RACHEL LEIGH COOK woulda been perfect. *sigh*… so there is our two cents worth!
Alright. There is really no point complaining about who is going to be playing the parts now. They’ve already decided, and have already finished filming. They would obviously not pick somebody if they sucked. I’m sure that the cast will do an amazing job.

We have to remember that Jacob is scrawny in the first book, and they could possibly get new actors for the upcoming books because Jacob’s look does change. I think he’s a good choice for now, but we’ll have to see. Anyone who saw the preview for the movie can see that Robert can act and I personally believe that he will be fabulous.

You can find it on youtube if you missed it… I think Steven Strait would have been a better choice for Jacob, but he couldn’t play the role of a fifteen year old, although he could play Jacob in Eclipse. BUT if they did have Steven Strait as Jacob- girls would go crazy over him more than they would go crazy over Robert P. as Edward lol. Just go watch The Covenant and you’ll see what I mean…

My opinion and it should be a fact is than Talor is super sexy. I don’t like Jacob in the book but once i saw who was playing him in the movie i totally loved him right away. The part of edward is not my favorite but i still think he’ll do a good job. I am so excited to see the movie and expecially read the new book (breaking down) im counting down the days.
All right. here we go.
So, first thing’s first. anybody who has read the Twilight series will be thoroughly disappointed in the movie. i mean, with Stephenie Meyer’s such vivid desciptions, it’ll be IMPOSSIBLE to watch the movie and not compare it to the book.
So, that said, i would like to talk about the vampires in general. the way Stephenie describes them, there would be NO ONE ON THE PLANET gorgeous/ hot/ beautiful or whatever, enough to put a face with the name. so, with what they’re given, i think that the casting directors did superb!
Like, when i saw that Robert Pattinson was playing Edward, i was like, NOOOOOO!! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?!?!?! but, the more i saw him smile Bella’s favorite smile (th crooked one), he grew on me.
Although, i’m not sure what to think about the casting for Jacob Black. ’cause, with no disregard to the actor himself, but, whenever i see him i always think, SHARK BOY! SHARK BOY! and with that movie being utterly retched, his reputation ain’t lookin too good.
So, now i’m scared to see the movie, because with a book as RAD! as Twilight, i’m not sure if any movie would be good enough. well, that’s just my opinion!

Uhh… also, i agree with Laura. i mean, i never thought of Jacob as SUPER SEXY or anything. (in the first book.) but, i still hope thathe’ll grow on me somehow….?
I think Tyler Posey was a much better choice for Jacob Black, and Haydn Christensen for Edward, and I have many more opinions about the other actors (they’re not all to my liking), but I am so glad that Twilight is being made into a movie in the first place! It’s awesome to have one of my favorite books become a movie a few years after they’re published! We should all be thankful!
yeah i think he should look a little more native american than that but i guess hes cute… they still have to work on making him look a lot older in New Moon and Eclipse…. but apparently they are thinking about shooting all three at the same time… it’ll be odd to see that “Jacob” either has to either be made digitally appear taller, or played by a different actor to make him look older and buff and really really tall

Taylor Lautner is going to be an amazing Jacob. He looks Native American enough that I was convinced that he was one when I saw the behind the scene interview where they were filming in La Push. I can’t wait to see him in the movie, and I love him for this part enough for the whole damn world.
I’m kind of confused. I know that Taylor Lautner is going to play Jacob, but Jacob ages to like a 25 year old right? So is Steven Strait playing the older looking Jacob? I think it would work perfectly if it is because Taylor and Steven look a lot alike!

the first time i saw who was playing edwards i was like” that not what i expected” i thought he was to be really hot. but the more i see pictures of him and that smile that bella love so much the more i think he is purfect for that part. also the more i see pic of him i also think that he is really hot also.

OMG Twilight is my favorite book adn i cannot believe they finally made it into a movie. Ok people……. i don’t see whats wrong with the cast. 1st Taylor is a pretty cute guy. 2nd Robert is cute. Heck they’re both pretty fine especially when you look at the posters and stuff. I think they fit the parts that they are playing. And it really doesn’t matter what we think because the movie is already on its way so deal with it.
Everyone needs to stop dissing them. taylor will be fine, and robert will be fine.
plus no one has seen the movie yet so no one knows their acting abilities.

I’m not really happy with any of the main characters. And a lot of my friends- who have an undying love for the twilight series as well- are also disappointed. I think they should of based the characters looks off of stepehenie meyer’s thoughts as much as possible. And even though i know taylor is a pretty gorgeous guy, i think they should of done better main-character casting overall. I think seeing this movie will be a let -down…but we’ll see.

Taylor Lautner is hot! He has amazing abs for the shirtless scenes that will be coming up in the next films, and he alreadt knows how to fight. Also he’s not full Native American but he’s part Native American
Yeah so i kinda agree with the whole not raggin on the actors thing… you people need to remeber that the twilight characters are FICTIONAL. there is a difference between voicing ur opinion and being plain rude, if u like the actor/actress just say that, you dont have to go and make someone feel bad that they took the part. Im sure if the casting people chose them, they’re probably good enough to play the part. So everyone that has a problem with the cast , just dont see the movie.
