It has been confirmed in an article released by the Peninsula Daily News today that Taylor Lautner is playing Jacob Black in Twilight! The article also discusses some of the filming schedule, and confirms that they will be filming in LaPush!

OH MY GOD people shut up! Stop complaining! The freaking movie hasen’t even come out yet! I understand that twilight is an awseome book, so you guys expect nothing less from the movie, but you don’t even know what’s going to happen! Yah, maybe you don’t like the person who plays Jacob, but at least give him the chance, let the movie come out first before you complain about his ability to play the characture, so he’s small, technology people, I am sure there are ways to make someone look bigger. Obviously, Taylor, or any of the charactures are good actors/actresses to play the parts, because they were hired! The film companies are expecting a fortune to come from this movie so their not just going to hire anyone, this is -proof of how picky people are. I am like that too, I learned everytime though, to just wait till the actual movie comes out. Then you guys can complain all you’d like!

it must be hard to find a guy who works in every way to play evry character so give the casting guys a break.. they were trying to make the movie right, and they know that fans are bound to get upset by something. they are prbly doing the best they can, they found a good actor (and a super hot one) and are trying to make him look NA.. give them a break, atleast he looks pretty native

I’m very excited about Mr. Lautner playing Jacob Black. Im a HUGE fan of the Twilight Saga and when I heard about the movie I was really worried that they wouldn’t be a ble to match the characters well enough. sure he’s scrawny, but that’s how he’s described in the first book—and besides, are there really actors out there that are 6’7 and native american? just think about how many people would fit that description…

overall, i think he’s PERFECT FOR JACOB!!!!! not quite husky like in the book, but if you watch any interviews you definitely get that friendly, warm vibe from him (even if it’s through a computer screen.) i really like new moon too, since edward kinda bugs me sometimes w/ his whole charming 20th century phrases and predictability… dont hate him, though….

Ok seriously, the complaints of Taylor looking too young to play Jacob is a moot point. Did ya’ll forget that in Twilight he was only approx.14 and in the series he doesn’t even begin to mature more in physical appearance until New Moon? Same thing goes with his hair being long, it doesn’t get cut until later. To prove my point…

Give the kid a break! He looks hot enough (very much so in my opinion) for the stage in Jacob’s life he’s supposed to be portraying. Although one thing is for sure…I’m praying that Steven Strait gets cast for when Jake grows up. *drools* That man is damned F-I-N-E. Since I was already a Team Jacob fangirl and don’t get to see a jawdropping, gorgeous actor playing Edward, I’m leaning towards Taylor and the actor playing Emmett to get my hot man butterflies going.

1) we shouldnt be complaining about how people look out of character, we have COSTUMES and make-up that make ugly (and i am not saying by any means that either one of them are cuz i think that taylor is a deff hottie and well robert is pretty damn sexyy) people pretty and cause people to transform themselves

Ok, so yeah, I am new to the Twilight series, I only started reading it a month or so ago. I am somewhere in Eclipse but I got caught up in it all rather quickly. It’s a rather addicting series. Anyway, as far as dissing Edward and Jacob’s characters. As a couple other of people have said, we all have these perfect images of the polar opposite hotties in our mind. And so we expect Edward and Jacob to pop up into reality. But it’s just not going to happen, I was in the middle of reading Twilight when I started looking at the movie stuff, and my images of the characters were not far from the cast in the movie. So don’t keeping dissing these actors, the movie looks really good, better than the Potter movies did. And Hollywood can pretty much do anything when it comes to appearences. After all, they did do The Lord of the Rings didn’t they? Anyway, I am pretty sure that everything is going to be okay, for once I am excited about a book-to-movie adaptation (usually I hate them.) So let’s all just stfu and get ready for the movie, it’s in less than a week. After that you can bitch about everything. Okay?
i think that the actors and actresses are perfect. Like in a comment i read, the author loves them, and so do i. no, they are not what i expected at all, but it’s looks like it’s goin to be an amazing movie, just like the books. What i’m really worried about is if they’ll turn all the other books into movies also! And if they’ll have the same people, it would seem pointless to have different people, but i’m sure i’d still love them all the same. Stephenie Meyers is an amazing author, and this will be a great movie thanks to Catherine and the rest of the cast and crew. So stop hatin or leave! please…. get over it. make your own movies if it bothers you so much and don’t go watch the real one.

Both of my parents are caucasian. But so many people ask where I get my “tan”? Well I do get a little color from my mothers side of the family coming from the French side. Other than that the rest comes from being out in the sun.

It seems to me that Taylor Lautner belongs to the Watnabe tribe – a wannabe who conveniently discovered his heritage probably as a way of calming Native protests about the putting a non-Native into a Native role.
There are plenty of Native American actors out there especially if the Directors and Producers are determined to find the right person for the job. In other indigenous films, there have been excellent break out performances by first time indigenous actors – it just takes a director who is persistent and then willing to work with a novice performer. Three examples of this come to mind – Whale Rider, Rabbit Proof Fence and the new movie Australia all have indigenous actors who had no previous acting experience and all actors did an outstanding job. I think the directors took the easy way out instead of doing the right thing to find the right Native actor.
Contrary to a previous post, there are a lot of Native people in Oregon and Washington. Both Seattle and Portland have large native populations and there were casting calls in both cities. I am native and my 15 yr old son is Native (and cuter then Taylor Lautner) and we submitted photos, etc. and never heard a word back from the casting agents. And contrary to another person who posted – we are not too busy drinking or getting our land back – we are Americans just like everyone else and even though the person asserted that they weren’t racist – it was a very racist comment.
Anyway – I love the Twilight series – I’m 42 years old and I think Stephanie is a brilliant writer. I’m just disappointed that the people involved with making this film were too lazy to do what was right in casting Jacob Black.
