It has been confirmed in an article released by the Peninsula Daily News today that Taylor Lautner is playing Jacob Black in Twilight! The article also discusses some of the filming schedule, and confirms that they will be filming in LaPush!

I think that this is total BS. I can’t believe that yet again a real native wasn’t cast for such a great role. I mean its bad enough when they don’t cast natives for the westerns, but what are they saying to this generation by casting Taylor?? I personally think he looks pretty good for the role. I’m not happy about Robert though. I mean, he looks fine and all, but he’s just not Edward. Taylor fits the role pretty well though. And they will give him make up and a wig so he matches the look better. But then again it would be hard to find people that match the characters (sigh) Jacob’s my favorite character and I think Taylor is very hot. He’s a good choice. Although…. In the book THEY DO NOT FREAKIN FLY LIKE IN THE MOVIE!!! GRRRRR!!!!
now i think that the casting department for this movie is having some issues.

he’s supposed to be gorgeous, stunning, stopping people in their tracks to look at him as he passes. the eyes, the hair, even the skin, they can change all that, [ever heard of movie magic?] but his face is all wrong. he’s just not supposed to look like that! you cant tell me that there’s nobody, anywhere, that could play him. it’s just because he was in harry potter, wasnt it? well, still. I hope someone BETTER replaces edward. <3

Jacob GROWS, like ALOT. i think Taylor Lautner is perfect for TWILIGHT. but for New Moon and Eclipse they should get someone new (in my opinion, Steven Strait). obviously people aren’t stupid, and they’ll realize the change, but i think it’s a good change. truely i can only see Taylor as “little Jacob”, and i see Steven as “big Jacob”. sorry to shatter your dreams of a same actor through whole series thing, but i know i will be extremely disappointed if Taylor returns in a New Moon movie (if one is made)

first off, age. i believe he’s actually 15 in Twilight not 16, but that’s a minor mistake. (but i might be wrong, so no one blow up on me for this)
secondly, Native American -ness. Form what I found, he said he has some Native American ancestry. it also says he only revealed that when he was asked about playing a Native American character. hmm. suspicious. why wasn’t this mentioned before? also, Jacob is full Native American. Taylor is German, French, Dutch, and a bit Native American. hmm. fits? no.
and the third point. his hair. PLEASE read before you write. unless you didn’t realize, Jacob is SUPPOSED to have long hair! please don’t make me pull out a quote for you (mainly because i don’t have twilight with me at the moment). Jacob should not have to change his hair so it fits the actor, the actor should be able to pull off long hair, and look damn sexy while doing it.
(also another reason Steven Strait should play Jacob, he looks hawt with both short and long). the long hair is not disappointing. the long hair is Jacob.
