  1. Donicea says:

In the beginning I was a little upset how everything was mixed up or how parts from the book were missing but once the movie got to the middle I was happy! Everything fell into place after that and the cinematography was great! My only real problem was with Jacob. Taylor Lautner is cool and all but I really liked Meyers picks and some of the fans choices too. He just doesn’t fit to me and the wigs! They were interesting*_*

Overall I loved Twilight and I can’t wait to see New Moon!

    I give it 5 *****’s!!!!!!

  2. Shellie says:

I absolutely loved the movie!! I have seen it twice and plan on seeing it again before it leaves the theater. What I loved the most was that they used actual lines from the book, which many movies that are based on books do not usually do. They could not have chosen a better cast for this movie and it will be interesting to watch them all in New Moon when it comes out. Catherine Hardwicke is a talented director for this movie and hopefully she will come back to direct New Moon. I definitely give Twilight a 5* rating as I have not been this excited about a movie or went to watch the same one in theaters as this in a very long time.

  3. Cynthia says:

    HOT, SMOLDERING, INFECTIOUS
That is how I describe this movie.

I absolutely LOVED this movie. I watched it at Midnite and then again the next day. I will probably watch it a few more times. Rob, Kristen and the entire cast did a wonderful job portraying these characters. It was like I was reading the book on the big screen. Everyone was wonderful!
And there aren’t words to describe Rob Pattinson as Edward Cullen. TOO HOT!!!! Leaves you breathless, total swooning during the entire movie.

    I don’t give this movie 5 stars, I give it 5 OME’s!

  4. Denise (SC) says:

I have never read Stephanie’s books, but honestly after seeing this movie, I have to get more…this movie was incredible. I thought the characters were awesome considering they were major actor/actress…IThe love scenes were breath taking and felt myself having a difficult time breathing and heart racing. I already want to purchase the soundtrack and can’t wait for the release of the DVD. There are few movies that evoke those type of emotions that I felt with this movie…and then to leave me wanting more so much that I researched and learned more about the cast and the book series. I am so glad that a sequel is already in the making. I would say definitely 5 stars!

Honestly, I’ve only seen the movie once yet, so I can’t really say if I truly liked the movie, or am just so glad that they didn’t completely ruin the story/characters. *cough*OrderofthePhoenix*cough*

Pros – I didn’t expect to like it so much. The story was so good, and all the characters were great. Who knew they could pull off the sparkling effect without it looking totally fake and cheesy!!! And Carlisle took my breath away. I don’t know quite how to say it, but both Peter and Rob had “old eyes,” like they had seen decades or centuries of human history. It was so powerful. And Rosalie was so good, she went from the character I just hated to the character I loved to hate. (That’s a step-up, by the way.) But yes, Carlisle and Edward are now tied for my fav vamp. And I loved the addition of the kitchen scene, which I felt was a good way to quickly acclimate us to all the vamps. The friends were all really good, though Angela was a bit more vivacious than I imagined. I also thought the additional vampire carnage scenes were good, because it enhanced the danger aspect. Pretty much all the alterations they did were good, with a few exceptions.

Cons – While I think Kristen Stewart is a good actress, I felt, and I don’t know if this is her or the writers or the directors, but I felt like they tried to alter Bella in a way that removed a lot of the vulnerability that Bella has. They tried to play up the “strong, independent woman” thing a bit too much, and as such it made Bella’s acceptance of Edward as a vampire less believable rather than more believable, which was probably their goal. I just don’t get Bella giving the neo-feminist speech to anyone, or telling Esme that she had already eaten when they were already making her dinner. (Book Bella would endure eating a second meal before possibly hurting Esme’s feelings, I think). Alice definitely needed more screen time, but that will come, hopefully.

Anyway, that’s my two cents. Hope it was thoughtful

  6. The REAL Mrs. Edward Cullen says:

I am… Completely… Utterly… DEVASTATED. I swear when the credits began to roll I couldn’t even get up from my seat. I felt a part of me had just died… I am not going to lie. Overall, I did NOT like the movie. It felt dry to me, emotionless, I did not feel the Edward Bella love, although I will say that Rob and Kristen do have great chemistry in more intimate scenes. I did like certain aspects of it, like the prom scene and the baseball scene, but some thing’s were downright ridiculous and I was laughing at completely inappropriate times like the venom-sucking scene. I hated… HATED Kristen Stewarts performance. I thought it fell completely flat and I feel she did not capture Bella’s all consuming love for Edward. I found her monotone and boring and one dimensional. As for Rob… He wasn’t as bad as her, but he didn’t blow me away like I was expecting. Yes, I hyperventilated in certain parts when the gorgeous men in this movie came out, and I gave my best friend bruises on her arm. Who blew me away? Victoria. Carlisle. Charlie. Rosalie even. Alice should have been given more scenes, I feel like she would have done well. I really liked when she smelled the blood and almost gave in in the fight scene but resisted… And I feel like her and Bella’s friendship was not developed in the slightest. Jasper’s talent was not mentioned at all, and he was pretty good when he did come out which was like… never. Jacob I really liked. I LOVED the stare down between him and Edward at the end. Back to the bad stuff. The movie was awkward and rushed and FAKE. I didn’t believe a single moment of this film. I think that the relationship between Bella and Edward was not developed and if I had not read the book before hand I would have been completely lost and confused watching this movie. I wanted to love it. I really, really, did. I went in there with low expectations so even if it was bad I wouldn’t be too disapponted. And for the record, I understand that it was the movie, and it couldn’t be exactly like the book… but thats not what saddened me about it. I was left feeling drained and empty by the lack of romanticism and emotion in that movie. I would have overlooked that they did not include my favorite scenes from the book had I seen the love between Bella and Edward…And I didn’t. Its not so hard to convey love even in a 1 hour movie with a lesser plot following a more pathetic love story… I mean COME ON. This is Twilight. They had an amazing, Romeo and Juliet-esque love story to go by! And I also realize that the film makers could not possibly meet the incredible expectations or individual visions of the millions and millions of fans of the book. I wasn’t even asking for it to be like I saw it… None of the Harry Potter movies have matched what it looked like in my head, and none of them will ever hold a place in my heart like the 7 books and Twilight, but I still enjoyed them and liked them for what they were. They are good movies. Twilight disappointed me, not only as the movie version of one of my favorite books, but just as a movie. I will probably go see it again, and buy it, and continue supporting Twilight and most of the actors, Rob especially, because I think he has that hidden talent, and would have tapped into it more if he had not had Kristen at his side who really, really, REALLY disappointed me and did not seem compatible with Rob. I still love the world of Twilight and I appreciate the effort the movie makers made but… It just fell flat to me, a farce, and I was left wondering what they had done to my Edward and Bella romance.

    Sorry, dont hate me,
    The REAL Mrs. Edward Cullen

  7. mrs. black ;) says:

yes, i did scream very much when jacob came on… * i was the only one* when he left i was like NOOOO DON’T LEAVEE ME!!!

P.S. *edward has a nice butt*

  8. Rebecca says:

    omg *****
5 stars all the way!!! i loved it…some parts may have seemed a little corny or something but it was still absolutely AMAZING!!!
i loved how everyone got so excited when each character (especially edward) came on…there were even quite a few that were going crazy over jacob!
great job guys! cant wait til New Moon!

  9. Kourtnee B. says:

I would give the movie a 3 out of 5 stars. I feel that the screenwriter could have followed the book, i understand having to cut things out or paraphrase but she didnt really do a good job in my opinion. And i felt the actors were over doing somethings more so Rob than anybody. Nikki could have played her role with a bit more anger and I didnt understand why Jackson looked so crazy it was hilarious. Also they never once said I LOVE YOU to each other which i thought was weird and when they said the Lion and Lamb line I felt like that was just thrown in there. I liked the movie but then again i dont

  10. Octavia Wilson says:

I loved it. The sparkling scene was perfect and they way they did the meadow scene was Awesome. I know there were a couple times i cried becasue Rob and Kristen were so convincing that they were exactly in love. The Rob and Kristen scenes were beautiful. Overall, the movie was perfect. It gave me a different view of the book. Can’t wait to see it 8 more times. I give the movie 4 and half stars.

  11. Connie Chadwick says:

I had just finished reading all four books… (in one week!!), I started only wanting to finish Twilight before I saw the movie….(but once I started reading them I absolutely could not stop, those books are like crack!!). I thought the movie was a good 4 stars, loved ALL of the actors, Rob, Kristen, etc… the music was awesome too! For the next movie, the second book- New Moon, I would love to see some better special effects (of Edward running, things like that- I LOVED the baseball scene tho.) One other thing I would also like to see more of is Bella & Edward’s humor written into the script, it seemed like the Twilight movie really didn’t showcase that aspect of their relationship as much as I would have liked, that was sooo amazingly funny in the book. I don’t know what I am looking forward to more, the next movie, or Stephenie’s new book Midnight Sun- that has Edward’s point of view of his relationship with Bella. What an extraordinary idea…. so amazing that Stephenie ever have thought to do that, but for us Twilight addicts, it’s totally fresh Edward & Bella! (Not recycled as you might first imagine- to finally see into Edward’s head, amazing!) I honestly just want more and more!! I went with my 14 year old daughter to see the movie on Friday, opening day, and we are going again tonight, can’t wait!! We BOTH LOVE the books and the movie!! Don’t stop Stephenie!!

  12. Elizabeth says:

I give it an ethusiastic *****(5) stars. I LOVED the movie. It is my new favorite. I’ve seen it twice and plan to see it much much more. Unlike most people, I went in with an open mind. I knew the movie would be different and personally, I loved it. When you think about it, it’s like having two different versions of the story. People need to be more accepting and less critical. It’s never going to be exact and that is just fine with me. I have no complaints and I think everyone did a fantastic job. Twilight was AMAZING and I am now in love with the movie.

  13. Erin says:

OMG!!!! The movie was AMAZING!!! When Edward came in the movie for the first time, the whole theater started screaming lol

Rob and Kellan are so HOT!!! =]

I’m definitely going to see it again!!!

  14. Rachel C. says:

My first impression of the movie was that it sucked. I was so upset that they left out so many parts, like Carlisle’s story and basically the medow scene(although they kind of did it), and my favorite line, “Erie, isn’t it?”- Emmet. Then, as i thought back over the movie i was only mad that it wasn’t exactly perfect to the book. I knew that they couldn’t do it perfectly like the book, and that wasn’t going to happen anyway. I thought that overall, they got the point across and was great. I absolutly loved how they had Edward sparkle. Also, i thought the fight scene was amazing! Of course, i like Stephenie’s better, but the fight scene in the movie was so good and i think could have taken the place of Stephenie’s. I have already bought tickets to see it on saturday, again. I would give it 3 stars *** because although the movie was good, i thought the acting was a little bad by Rob when he first smells Kristen (Bella) in Science, though he did a great job everywhere else.

  15. amanda says:

I would give it 10 stars if possible.. I have read all the books and now I’m reading them all over again. The movie matched the book wonderfuly.. I can’t wait to see how the next movie turns out. Wolfs morfing, Edward leaving and coming back, the Voltarre. I think that the next movie will make even more and Breaking Dawn will make them most of them combined. I can’t wait to see more!

  16. kat says:

Sadly, I can’t give it more than two stars. I wanted to love this movie so much. I wanted to love it as much as I love the books. But it was just really disappointing. I knew it would be difficult for the movie to pull off the intensity you feel reading the books — it was like you were reading Bella’s diary and got completely swept up in her obsession with Edward. The movie lacked the love story, the build up, the connection between these two characters and their difficult, passionate love. I think Kristen and Rob tried their best with what they were given, but I think the direction was not the best and screenwriting spliced together too many scenes to the point they just fell apart. In particular the meadow scene –it’s such a pivotal point in the book it failed. Miserably. I know Catherine Hardwicke felt really passionate and enthusiastic about the books, it just didn’t translate that way on screen.

What was with the editing? It was so choppy and awkward and often dumbed down. As if the average viewer wouldn’t get it unless they were whacked over the head with it: cue Edward’s tortured close up, cue the fan blowing Bella’s hair (or the wind), cue Edward’s intense reaction, cue evil vampires, cue close up of red eyes, cue close up of golden eyes, etc. It was only missing a red blinking arrow just in case you really weren’t paying attention.

And don’t get me started on the special effects. UGH! I don’t think a bigger budget would’ve helped this film. Sure it would’ve made the special effects better, but that wouldn’t change the scriptwriting, editing or direction. I hope New Moon will be better. I hope they take the time to do it right.

  17. Charlotte says:

omg you guys are so lucky to live in america…..stupid australia only releases it on decmber 12; GRRR

  18. Beverly says:

The second that Edward’s face was shown on the screen everyone in the room oohed and I knew the movie was going to be
awesome. Women of all ages will love this movie!! It is all about everlasting love that never dies!!

  19. Amaris says:

Ok wow where do I been. Well for one the movie was definately NOT wow. Twilight book = memorable; Twilight movie = not memorable. No I didn’t expect it to be exactly like the book, I’m a HP fan, I know better. But I do expect you to be able to accomplish the same feel and goals of the book. But I guess I’ll start with the positive.
    1. BASEBALL SCENE
    2. The KISS
    3. Rosalie
    4. Charlie/Bella

Noooooow onto the not so positive

1 – 10. Everything from Jacob NOT telling Bella about the Cold Ones through the alleged meadow scene. Umm wow. Could you have butchered it any worse. The changes made throughout the sequence completely killed the ENTIRE story. This is where the story of Bella and Edward is made. Where you fall in love with as they fall in love with each other. And there is NO WAY you got that feeling from the movie. Okay let me back up a little. Number one, why was it necessary to not have Jacob say “oh by the way they’re supposed to be like the cold ones.” That one line could have saved a good 15-20 min in the movie. Instead of Bella wasting time going online researching the tribe legends, she should have been online researching VAMPIRE legends. Also side note, this actually turns out to be important seeing as how Stephanie used one of the legends Bella came across as part of the explanation for the ridiculous idea that vampires can have children with humans (don’t even get me started on that mess). Also, I think it would have been beneficial to the character of Bella to see how she processes things, the fact that she is a thoughtful person and she’s not just jumping into this without any thought. So because we didn’t get that one line, the Port Angeles scene really lacked the importance its supposed to. That was the turning point in their relationship. Everything was on the table and they could move from there. But no we had to waste more time instead of getting to see them together.

Now onto the woods/meadow scene. WTF! So …. wtf! Just walk into the woods behind school and oh by the way you’re a vampire. I don’t even know how to put into words how utterly disappointing this scene was. I mean just….. uh! So the ‘meadow scene.’ Again…wtf! The meadow was supposed to be a special place to Edward that he decides to share with Bella. Not some random place they come upon in the woods behind the school. Throwing in some music and lighting affects doesn’t automatically make it special. It was special because of what they shared there together and about each other and there was none of that. So at this point I really just wanted to throw my raisinettes at the screen. So the way that whole scene flowed to end with them saying and so the lion fell in love with the lamb made no sense. Like really you’re in love, since when. And the sparkle was supposed to be like diamonds, looked more like cubic zirconias.

The escape through the ballet scene was completely anticlimatic. Special thanks to Summit for pretty much releasing the whole ballet scene prior too. The only thing that wasn’t shown in a trailer was Bella’s reaction to the venom and Edward sucking it out. So for the future don’t show the whole climax of the movie before hand.

Sooo where was Alice. They didn’t have to show Bella Barbie time but it would have been nice to see some kind of relationship develop between them since that relationship is important in new moon. Also Bella looked a HOT mess at prom. And there is no way Alice would let Bella go to prom with a sweater and tennis shoes, or shoe, and blue leggings. OMG.

An important scene that got cut – Edward telling Bella about Carlisle’s past and more importantly him telling her about the Volturi. How you can know you’re doing New Moon and not even mention the Volturi is baffling. If Bella doesn’t know about the Volturi, why would she be upset to learn from Alice that Edward is going to Italy. Upset enough to travel half way around the world to save him. So yes you saved 10 min in twilight but u added 15 min to new moon because now you have to explain. This isn’t like HP where you’re making movies without knowing how things turn out, you’ve got the books, read them, make the connections.

For those that missed the blood typing scene. Really people get over it. Stephanie drew out the whole Bella can smell blood thing only for it to go absolutely no where. So really it was pointless. They could have replaced it with another scene of BxE together.

Ok this is long. Overall I give it a 3. I think there were many missteps but for the parts that got it right, it was good.

  20. mamzalini says:

okay, so i already posted but i’ve had time to collect my thought more rationally. before i was a little too dazzled by the screen. so~likes~ the cinematography was beautiful. when they were in the trees and the surrounding areas. gorgeous.~i love the soundtrack. i bought it when it came out and really love how the music went with the film. ~the baseball scene was very nicely done. that was fun to watch. love that song too. just perfect.~the kissing scene between B&E. i think they have great chemistry.~the gazebo scene was lovely. i looooove that song. my fave from the soundtrack.~when bella meets the cullens. that was cute. ~everything charlie! i loooooved charlie. billy burke did an amazing job. kristen and him were perfect together. ~mike newton. too cute.~jacob~cafeteria with jessica introducing the cullens and then edward and his smirk. loved that!!!~edward saving bella and his reaction to her telling him to put his seat belt on.~the girls being dazzled by him before dinner. i was dazzled!~ i liked the ballet scene in the end. up to the part where it was time for edward to suck out the venom. i have to say that charilse easily could’ve done it as it didn’t seem like he wasn’t doing anything edward couldn’t do seeing as edward had gone to medical school a few times. and the urgency wasn’t there like in the books. though i did like the way they did the flashback of bellas eyes. that was rather cool looking. now dislikes~lack of character development for the cullens~lack of story background about vampires. for those who haven’t read the books i’m sure they were wondering why they didn’t have fangs and could go out in the sunlight, etc.. all the myths~ they should’ve taken a minute to explain that. ~ the boat scene with the nomads~ cheesy dialog/ overacting? ~the end baseball scene when they’re hissing and crouching. that was cheesy~~ the meadow scene. i wasn’t to thrilled how that was condensed. way too rushed. as well as they’re relationship. it was too rushed. i missed the biology video scene and the blood typing. they could’ve used that to help fill in with some more build up to their encounter in the woods.~ when he was in the woods and rushing around really fast. that was cheesy. and i didn’t like the fast running. it was too fake.~the lack of the word dazzled. that should’ve been said no matter how cheesy. over all i really liked it. it could’ve been better but with the budget they had they did a good job. i don’t know why they couldn’t add another 30 minutes to the movie to develop the relationship more. though from a teenage perspective it was fantastic. the 3 teenagers i talked to about it just loved it. so it was most likely more geared towards them. so anywho those are my thoughts at the moment. i will not recommend the movie to those who haven’t read the book. there’s just not enough there. but again i fell in love with edward on screen.

  21. Aimee says:

I cannot settle on how many stars I think the movie deserves. One reason is because of the choppiness (if that’s even a word). I do agree that they made it extremely choppy in the beginning, and that’s why I would give it less stars. But the book WAS about five-hundred-and-something pages. How could they fit EVERYTHING into at the most of two and a half hours? They at least kept the most important things in, which is why I would give it more stars.
Another reason is because of the acting. Dont get me wrong… I’m not saying that it was bad. Poor Rob had to be a dazzingly beautiful vampire without totally overdoing it! He also had to fake an accent. At least they had quite a few parts that made me want to laugh. The only thing is that it would seem a little too serious in some parts. Like the part in the forest. But overall the acting was really good.
One more thing that I wanted to add is the part where Bella was dying in the movie and she said ‘Death is peaceful; its easy. Living is hard.’ I dont remember that in the book, but I now live by that quote. So they at least had a ‘moral’. I’m glad that they added that so at least if you didnt read the book you can understand what was supposed to come across to you. When you live you are brave, no matter what other people or yourself might think.

  22. MCullen says:

When I first saw the movie I was really dissapointed. I thought at first that they could have done much better. They left out the blood typing biology part and that is one of my favorites in the book so that was upsetting. But I saw it again and I thought it was so much better!! Actually I love it now 😉 I think that when I first went in to see it I had high expectations and then when you go a second time you go just to see the movie and you can enjoy it so much more. My favorite scene is the baseball game and when Bella and Edward are walking into school together. I thought some of Edward’s facial expressions were really funny especially when he was sucking the venom out of Bellas arm. I also think that the sparkle effect could have been much better, it was actually quite lame. I have to say though that the casting was done really well considering what everyone thought in the beginining. (My friend, Carrie, believes *knows* Robert is a hunk! Hott and SEXY!)

Love the podcast!! Love the movie!! 5*s

  23. Sophie Weavers says:

now i have seen the 1st hour of the movie…i think it really works!
i no the meadow seen was 20 secs long…but with this “movie” version of Twilight..it works…everything is quick and to the point….”lets not beat around the bush” as i say…
Just my opinion..i making myself wait for the UK release date to see the rest….

  24. Kim says:

Well, it was ONLY the best movie I have ever seen in my life, so I would give it…

That’s 5,000. Now multiply that by google, and make it to the infinity power. That’s my rateing. It was that good.
Although, I was a bit dissapointed with the dazzle sequence. He looked like he was sweating. AND THERE WAS NO BLOOD TYPEING SCENE! NNNNNOOOOOOOO! But that was it.
Because I feel like being talkative, I’m going to tell ya’ll my favorite parts…
“…and she’s with Jasper – the blond one who looks like he’s in pain.”
    Edward covering his mouth awkwardly.
“Yes. I had an adreneline rush. It’s very common. You can google it.”
The first kiss scene. How lovely!
    “Her name’s Bella!”
Emmet picks up the knife, and waves at Bella! I was hyperventallating with laughter.
    Rosalie breaks the bowl. PRICELESS!
Those random 3 seconds in the baseball scene where Emmet is dancing. 3 seconds – blew me away!
    Jacob and Edward’s stare down.
    Yeah… I’ve seen it 5 times. I’m not obsessed or anything… 🙂
    Well, that’s it!

  26. Bella Castaldi says:

Ok I might do this wrong because its my first time but I LOVE THAT MOVIE I went to the premier (ok I spelled that wrong =) ) on the 17th (november) I also went to the midnight showing and i saw it with my book club on the 21. Long story short I give the movie *****************. They just missed somethings. like Carlisle story with out that if they make a new moon movie people won’t know who the volteri are. Also They really didn’t talk about JASPER Omr. But ya I love the movie. I got a question 4 u guys. Did you guys notice the wings behind edward in the biology scene? I think that means for the people who read twilight that edward is bellas angel. But i give the movie *****! Love the podcast Keep up the awesome work go TEAM SWITZERLAND!!!!!!!! oh and if you guy’s read this i want to give a shout out to MS.CLEEK AND MS.MOORE they love ur podcast.XOXOXO BELLA C.

  27. I thought the movie was good. There was so much that was important that they left out, like the meadow scene, I thought it was going to be better. The sparkling did surpass my expectations. I thought the dialogue was a bit empty and not as heartfelt.
I did love the acting, it was good.

  28. Bagels says:

ok, i know this is the 3rd time i’ve commented, but whatever 🙂
one thing i wanted to add was how much i like jessica!! i thought anna kendrick (is that how u spell her name?) played her really well and she was good at being obnoxious and annoying 😀 her character was just one thing in the movie that i was expecting to ignore and to just be “filler” but actually thought was really funny 😀

  29. Here’s my review…4 stars
I wrote the following for a small local newspaper…

Twilight: The Movie and the Movie Experience.

Remember that boy who made your heart stop every time you saw him? Remember how your dreams were consumed by him and your days were incomplete unless you had that ever elusive glimpse? Remember how your parents told you “NO” while your brain kept screaming “YES”? Well, welcome to the world of Twilight and the romantic tension inherent in a relationship where the perfect boy happens to be the ultimate bad boy-a vampire.

The movie begins with Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) moving from Phoenix to the cloudy town of Forks, WA to live with her father Charlie. As she navigates this new town and school, Bella crosses paths with Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) of the beautiful and mysterious Cullen clan. Edward and Bella are instantly aware of each other and the first 30 minutes of the movie are dedicated to Edward’s efforts to stay away from and then repel Bella in a misguided effort to protect her from his dangerous world. Bella however is ultimately drawn to Edward’s dazzling beauty and mystery. In the end, Bella’s choice comes down to this: live without the man she loves or live happily yet with the ever present knowledge that he thirsts for her blood. Does this sound like the stuff of great movie-going? Don’t judge just yet! Read on.

Twilight is the first book in the crazy popular young adult series written by Stephenie Meyer. The book fans are serious indeed and will not settle for imperfection from the movie. I have read the book in anticipation of the movie and was pleased to see that the movie stands on its own very well. The pros of the movie are Kristen Stewart’s Bella is a stronger person than the book’s version (who could carry on and on about Edward’s beauty a bit too much, even for my taste) and Robert Pattinson plays the “perfect man” with such simply expressed emotion that Edward never becomes a caricature. The supporting actors are fresh faces and the movie soundtrack was rockin’. The cons are the low budget special effects (but the total movie budget was $37 million so you’ll have to ignore those) and a few scenes when the pacing and editing are off kilter.

The audience was filled with females age 12 to 60’s with a few men sprinkled about who I’m sure came to the movie because it was date night. There were gasps, applauds and whistling throughout the showing and it made for a fun night out. Twilight makes you yearn for all things vampire and may just become your new guilty pleasure. I say it’s worth the price of admission, the cost of the soundtrack, all 4 books and a Twilight t-shirt! Go Team Twilight!

  30. Melissa(melissaturkey) says:

I think the movie, as a movie in itself was great. it was funny, it had action and romance, fantasy and other elements as well.

but…as TWILIGHT it was…well there were things that could have been left out to make room for things that were vitally important for the relationship which truly is the center of the story. things like the playful banter and bickering that they exchanged before they were all “you are my life now” the things that brought them to that point were missing.

they did a great job leading up to the big reveal but not enough leading up to the love, though in truth the fact that love itself was never mentioned besides “so the lion fell in love with the lamb..” did detract a bit.

I also think that as a whole it was fantastic. it was a great book-film conversion. it had alot, actually all, of the “core” scenes it also had the core of what bella and edward are, which is nice. every scene that was vitally important was amazing: baseball, fight with charlie, and ballet scene were amoung my favorite, and the big bedroom kiss was good too but more about that later…

the only complaints I have are
    1. lack of conversations and bickering that made them not “bella” and “edward” but “bella and edward” together
    2. the awkwardness that took the place of banter.

and last but not least the thing that made it “not twilight” in my eyes: all the humor.
Dont get me wrong I loved it and like I said before it sort of made up for all the awkwardness but notice earlier when I said this movie was great as a whole on its own because “it was funny, it had action and romance, fantasy and other elements as well.” well I mentioned funny/humor first. because twilght is romance first, action/fantasy second, and the funny moments though there, are not the main focus, but in the film it is for the first half and then the second half it is propelled by the action/fantasy while “bella and edward” is always the core underlying layer. in this that kinda takes a backseat alot of the times.
like I said this would be fantastic as an independant film, I would give it five stars if that were so, if the awkwardness and the humor were suposed to propel the first half, but its not, as TWILIGHT the first half is supposed to be propelled by bella and edward falling in love…and though that happened, it didnt feel anything more than a underlying layer to lead up to the second half. agian I loved it, and as TWILIGHT I would still give it 3 and a half stars but…not five. sorry!

okay okay, okay, I’ve went on and on about all the things wrong, I should tell you what I loved.
I’m starting with the main kissing scene because it to me was when rob was most in character for edward. he truly looked like he was holding himself back, while giving in, and then finally jumping back, it was edward all over.
kristen did great in the fight with charlie, charlie was great period, every moment with him I was impressed.
and there were other moments too, tons in fact, every scene in it self was amazing, albiet a little corny and cheesy when transformed from book to film but still good. I even liked the sparkles, even if the soud effects were a bit much.
anyway, i liked it, i’ll see it again, and agian, buy the dvd and everything and i’m sure I’ll grow to love it even more( like someone else said, everything that feels rushed is better the second or third time), but for now this is it, my opinion, what I thought of the movie.

Love the podcast! You guys are so funny and you make me look back at the books in new and interesting ways.
I would give it a four out of five. It was not an exact play by play of the book, but it could never be.
Movie makers are limited by time, money, and realilty. They could never produce your exact twilight because as everyone reads it they create their own version in their mind starring their own Bella, Edward, and friends in their own perfect version of Forks, Washington.
There were a few things done differently that i think are not excused by the limitations, though. I think they troughly messed up the meadow scene, which is a milestone in the book series that should not be messed up. They also took out two of my favorite lines in the whole movie. Edward is overall too moody and Bella… i dunno just seemed too different played by Kristen Stewart.
Overall, if they were trying to make a good movie they succeded. But if they were trying to make a good adaptation of the book, the messed up a little.
Sorry for writing you a novel. =] That’s just how I am.

    EMBARRASSING…
    – I feel EMBARRASSED for the cast and crew. (Can you imagine promoting this rubbish movie all over the world?)
    – It INSULTS the INTELLIGENCE and CREDIBILITY of the fans, the author, and the lead cast.
    – Loyal fans have to close their eyes and rave “Amazing! I LOVED IT!”
    – The ESSENCE of the story is mostly lost. (And don’t give me the argument that the movie is never as good as the book. The problem goes much deeper – screenplay, direction, scoring, acting)
    – I wish they would REDO TWILIGHT or at least re-edit, re-shoot some scenes or add new scenes to make it coherent.
    – Twilight fans, DO NOT SUPPORT New Moon if they mess it up the way they messed up Twilight. The studio, cast and crew needs to show some INTEGRITY here. We the fans have been extremely gracious and supportive. We pay good money to see the movie, and some buy the merchandise. The people who go see it are the ones who pay the studio and actors so that they all get their “bottom line.” Come on, give us respect. Give us quality, not rubbish.

With the small budget they should have focused more on developing the story. Instead we have cheesy special effects and tree climbing that really don’t add to the story. I can think of other low cost ways to replace the “effects’. I have a feeling that these were added in for business reasons – attract a male audience, and make it spectacular to audiences outside North America. But, man, if it’s bad it’s a turn off to the male audience. I hope they’ll redeem themselves in the sequels. Actually I wish they would REDO TWILIGHT or do some re-edit, reshoot or addition of new scenes to make it coherent at least, change the score too. It’s where it all begins. It really needs to be done right. Gosh, it had so much potential!! It’s been wasted!!

  33. Tm says:

I would give it 1.5 stars. I was not happy with it. I don’t want to be brutal, but that was one of the worst book to screen adaptation I have seen. I went into the movie not expecting anything, just hoping that it would be satisfactory. It wasn’t. They made it SO SO cheesy. Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart just portrayed the whole relationship wrong. (What was with the whole flying spider monkey thing?) They missed crucial dialog throughout. Rob Pattinson just seemed like he was trying too hard. And what was with Kristen Stewart not wearing any pants in the bedroom scene?!?! And then Rob Pattinson hitting the wall saying “I can never lose control around you.” They just made it so melodramatic. And Bella was supposed to be more selfless. It shared the same name as the book, and the same plot, but definitely not the same characters. I understand that they had a low budget and all, but it was still really disappointing. I still love the books though.

  34. Kam says:

Woah ppl are writing a lot! I really liked it!!! The thing I liked the best was that you could tell it was a low budget film, but in a good way. I am so glad it wasnt a super commercialized movie! It was a nice little quirky film just like the book started out as a quirky little vampire story. The actors were really good, of course! Kristen was amazing. Rob was too but the only bad thing was that the contacts made it hard for him to make his eyes expressive so everytime he widened his eyes he just looked constipated LOL. Also remember how he said he got his American accent from ppl like Robert deniro and jack nicholson? Didn’t you hear a little gangster in his voice?! “dere’s sheven of us and two of dem.” or maybe it’s just me being from Chicago. Oh and melissa wrote a lot of good lines! By the second time I saw the movie I had half of it memorized! 3.5 stars! Love the podcast guys!

  35. Tami says:

Rob Pattinson’s interpretation of Edward made it painful for me to watch some scenes. He was too broken and tortured most of the time!! He looked like he was about to weep or just fall apart in most of the scenes. It was a bit too much! I understand where he’s coming from, but still, he needs to tone it down some. He should have saved some of that torture and brokenness for New Moon.

  36. Jonathan says:

5 out of 5 starts…ok, maybe 4 1/2 out of 5. No!! it was 5 stars. It was amazing that someone -catherine hardwicke- was able to make a believeable and good movie out of the book twilight, without it coming off as extremely cheesey. I was slightly terrified before I saw the movie, that it was going to be full of too many cheesey “I’ll die for you, I love you so much” lines that it wasn’t going to seem real. I was also afraid that they were really going to botch up the meadow scene, when Edward walks into the light. In my mind I pictured them ruining it with rainows shooting out of his chest, or something rediculous like that. However, that scene, and nearly every scene, turned out suprisingly well. I was so afraid that because of the low budget and no name actors, that we were going to get a piece of crap movie, but this isn’t what happened. My top 5 reasons are- scratch that I have way more than just 5 reasons for liking this move, such as: It stayed very close to the book. Robert was Edward in this movie; I loved his angry facial expression when scaring away the bad guys in Port Angeles (I wasn’t sure if he could pull off the scary intimidating look, but he definitely did), his cool-happy-smile in the sunglassess scene when he’s walking with Bella to school and how he says “he’s not staring at us” and then has to retract his statement, his truly concerned face when he first sees Bella lying in the ballet studio injured, his annoyed/angry/concerned look he gives Bella when she almost trips at the field trip and tells her to be more careful, his look of near uncontrollable desire and hate that he gives Bella when she first walks into the biology class, and has to cover up his mouth (some people thought this was funny, but if you know what was going on, I think it’s easy to see how good his acting is), and every other facial expression and nonverbal experssion that Robert used to bring him to life (the looks of boredom from living so long, looks of self-confidence, self loathing, looks of love and loss that he shows in his display as Edward), I even liked how he would smile when others were talking around him, and how you knew that he was reading their minds. Enough about Edward, Bella was the perfect Bella, and everyone else in the cullen clan was amazing. I really liked the scene where Jasper is spinning the bat around in his hands, and I liked that it showed Jasper and Alice holding hands. Another scene I loved was when Bella was driving away with the Cullens in her escape from James, and they drive by the restaurant and all of the teenagers from school are leaving together, and it shows her staring at them; it reminds me of her walking into another world, leaving behind the life she used to know of normal teenagers, and how her decision to be with Edward may also cost her, her life. I, of course loved stephanies cameo. I laughed during Mike newtons butt-dance at the diner -that was so funny. I liked the introduction of Edward hunting -exciting way to start movie. Bella riding on Edwards back was done well. I liked being able to watch the rest of the scene where Edward grabs Bella and jumps out of his bedroom in an effort to scare Bella; I liked how it showed the scene with the camera below them as they flew from his room. Rosalie breaking the dish made my wife laugh. I liked how Edward told Bella that she was his life now, and then how it showed the cars racing off while Edward was leaning on one -it just looked cool. I liked how they even got the right dish that Bella ate at the restaruant in Port Angeles when she was with Edward (it was mushroom… something or other). I enjoyed how so many scenes were straight from the book. That is so enjoyable to me; it makes me more hopeful that New moon will be just as good. It wasn’t the greatest movie ever, but I think a lot of that had to do with money. I also liked the scene where Carlisle made Rosalie take the jacket, and how accepting he was of Bella, and how he said “she’s part of the family now,” or something like that. One of the BEST scenes in the movie was the ending when they were dancing together alone in the gazebo. I’m not sure exactly why it was so good, maybe it had something to do with how they were staring at each other in such a loving way, they kept doing close ups on their faces, and it truly looked like they were in love; I’m glad that it ended in a very romantic way. I loved how Victoria ended the movie watching Edward and Bella together -seeing the love that she would never have again- and then as she walked away like a total predator with that sparkle of revenge glowing in her eyes. That woman looks scary- I would not want to mess with her. Oh, and of course Alice was cute too. Oh yea, another one of myFAVORITE scenes it the simple lit scene that shows them on the bed together talking and asking questiong, even though you can’ hear what’s going on, and later how she snuggles up to him, and he just lays there and watching her. Enough said, I’m sure I failed to mention a million other parts that I loved; also, if there were moments of chessiness or parts that bothered me they must have been outweighed greatly by the gigantic amount of good scenes, because when I left the theater, all I could think of was HOLY CRAP THAT WAS COOL!!!

  37. Jonathan says:

I have something else to add. I think that the people who aren’t happy with the movie or think that it was too cheesy, are really in denial with the book. The book had tons of cheesy parts in it. But that doesn’t necesarilly have to be a bad thing. Have you ever walked in on someone who is confessing there love- no matter what, its going to be slightly cheesy, and may even feel awkawrd- even if the people are dead serious about their feelings, actually, mostly if they are dead serious about their feelings. People need to get past the diction and the wording that makes them uncomfortable and concentrate on the message behind the words. I think this problem is partly due becuase we live in a culture that is saturated with sarcasm and cinisim; it’s hard to say anything truly honest and immotional lovey dovey without being afraid that someone is going to hear us. Love is something that is just very hard to pull off without being cheesy. I think that the twillighters who were really reluctant to have a movie come out are people who are emberassed that they actually like the book inspite of its cheesiness and love talk, and they didn’t want anyone to find them out by watching the movie and seeing what it is that they are really in to. Or maybe I’m just nuts.

  38. Jonathan says:

last comment: oops… it’s cynicism, not cinisim. That really ruins my credibility when I can’t even spell, oh well.

  39. Terri says:

Saw it Sunday with a few other Twilighter friends. It’s the first time I’ve ever left a movie theater actually jittery and excited. I’m not a teen fan, not by a long shot, but it was like being 16 again. Gushing about Edward, Jasper and Dr. Cullen…. Yeah, haven’t done something like that in yeeeeeears. I’d love to see it again, so I can actually take it all in. I think after waiting a year for a movie to come out I was so anxious it was like I was trying to take in every little detail in every scene and you just can’t do that watching the movie once. No, of course it wasn’t as good as the book – it would have to be at least 6 hours long, and while *I* wouldn’t mind that (neither would a ton of other fans) that’s just not realistic. I’d give it 5 stars, they did nearly everything they could with the limited amount of time the movie allowed for. I can not wait until the DVD comes out to see all the extras and outtakes. Oh, and the scene where Emmit is telling Edward (over the top of the Jeep it looks like) “she’s not like us” – where did that scene go??

  40. Tracy says:

Loved it! I was very impressed…I’m worried about New Moon.

I just wish Jacob’s hair looked more natural…but wow, was James hot? and Edward but that’s a duh!!!

  41. Madison says:

OMG! Best movie ever! Can’t wait till New Moon! I want to see twilight again. I would such the web until the movie came out.I wouldn’t care if it was on you tube i would watch the comercials. I think i like it to much. How is that possible?!Eward is so hot I bought a bat and named it Eward. So if you haven’t seen the movie go see it you will be sorry.

  42. Michael says:

Best Movie Ever Made!!!!Went and saw it twice last weekened.I give it 5 stars. Can’t wait till it comes out on DVD. By the way Bella is super hot!

  43. Haley says:

hi again Kallie and Kassie!! (i TOLD u i was gonna comment seven zillion times, didn’t i?)

i just wanted to say that i was on a TOTAL RAMPAGE about how ANNOYING those fangirls were gonna be, screaming every time they saw Rob or Kellan, but then i got in the movie, and i became the leader of the fangirls!! it was kinda funny how hypocritical it was…i was the first one to scream whenever any of the vamps (James included) were on-screen, or if Edward did something kool (the scene in Port Angeles with the Volvo, and when he swooped in to kill James). i also screamed when Alice ripped off James’s head (that was so BADASS!!!). obviously, i liked the movie.

    peace, love, and Twilight
    Haley

  44. Des says:

Four stars…but did anyone else notice how awkward Edward’s legs looked in the meadow scene? and speaking of the meadow scene, couldn’t they have at least been touching each other’s finger tips? I agree with all the posts about the “best” scenes and quotes. Gonna go see it again this weekend at the drive-In…that should be fun!!

  45. rosie from team Emmet says:

i thought the Twilight movie was AWSOME it was sooooo cool i mean i know it didnt have everything that i wanted in it
and the scene that me and my sister really wanted to be in the movie that wasnt in the movie was in the chapter
called blood type and wanted that to be in the movie cause it was sooo funny when mike started out taking her to the
nurse’s office and then Edward shows up and you know he wasnt in class cause he skipped it cause of the blood thing
and he picked up Bella and told mike to go back to class and carried Bella to the nurse’s office and the tension
between Edward and mike was hilarious in the book but otherwise the movie was AWSOME but i dont know about
anyone else in theatre but i totally closed my eyes when James bit Bella i couldnt take it but its sorta kinda funny
cause i didnt watch that part but i did watch the part when Alice ripped of James head off which was pretty good
but other than what i already put the movie was AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : D

  46. TLB says:

I WISH they gotten the screenplay right, it felt chopped up and there was no romantic connection between Bella and Edward. Just an awkward series of montage work. I had no reason to root for them by the end. (admittedly, I could have been distracted by all the ridiculous screaming, you are in public people control yourselves.) I also wonder why they didn’t lock off the camera on the closeups- this is not a documentary and making everyone motion sick does not help in to creating a romantic mood. I enjoyed the actors work, but please ask Kristen to close her mouth, I got a little weary of seeing her two front teeth. That all said I am looking forward to the next movie, however and in my estimation “New Moon” needs to be directed my a man, being that so much is based on Jacobs interaction.. my vote for director is Nick Cassavetes!

  49. I cannot wait for the rest of the movies to be made! I truly did not see steph. in the movie. I did think it was wierd how Edward had SO MOUCH trouble to stop drinking bella’s blood and carlisle had to step in. It was however still the most awesome movie I have ever witness on the screen. Of course, even if the movie was totally blah, I would give it a 5 because I am such a big twilight fan. But, it was the most awesome movie, and they made it alot like the book. I heard that steph. was in the diner with charlie and bella, sitting by the counter in the scene that Mike was shaking his butt. It was so funny when Mike said,”You and Cullen,eh?” and then bella said somethong like “yeah or none ya.” and then mike said,”I don’t like it.” It was so funny! It was also funny in the scene where bella & edward are lab partners and the fan blows bellas hair and edward like looks at her like she just stabbed him. Very funny Lol. Did you guys see the movie? Please read this post,-Hanadi Cullen

The movie was AHHMAZING!!! I thought they did a great job with the cast {Especially Robert Pattinson because he is the the most beautiful person on the inside and out to walk on the earth}, the way the movie and book were different, but the same meaning they had all the same meaning and scenes, but they gave it a twist, also I loved the movjie ust because it has something to do with twilight!!!!!!!!!!! I would give the movie 4**** because overall the cast and crew did a great job transferring the book into a movie!!!
