Meghan: What we’ll do is just start here, you’ll do one question and keep going around…

Letters to Twilight: No pressure!

(Laughing)

Meghan: So alright, go for it!

Stephenie: Wait! Wait, wait, wait! Do you all have your tape recorders on?

All: (Nodding and saying yes!)

Stephenie: First question, because we are going to deal with this right now, is Midnight Sun! Right? So we don’t have to…

All: (Lot’s of blabbering…)

Stephenie: I know that’s what everyone cares about.  I also know that the right answer would be for me to say “Oh yah, it’s done! And it’ll be out next month!”  But that’s not true.  It’s also not true that I’ve got a ton of work done on it, and that’s what I’m working on.  What’s true is that I’m really burned out on vampires.  And, I don’t want to write it badly.  So I want to wait until I’m excited about the material again, and I’m excited about Edward, and that it’s something that’s motivating.  You know, when a story is keeping me up at night, and I’m waking up at 4 am in the morning and thinking ‘Yes! That is what is what should happen in this moment!’  Then that is when I can write with happiness! So, right now it feels like homework… it really does.  And when things feel like homework they go very, very slowly for me.  So it’s still not a “It’s not gonna happen!” I want to do it when I can do it right.  You know, I have my share of human stubbornness, and I have to tell you, it’s a little bit hard when people are like “This is the only thing you can do, and it’s the only thing we care about!”  And, you’re kind of like a three year old, you want to be like “I’m gonna do what I wanna do!” Yah.  “You’re not the boss of me!”  So my mom has backed off a little bit.  Actually, I was at The Fray concert, and I was hanging out with the guys backstage.  They’re really cool, and I was talking to Isaac about it.  He was like, “I really want you to do that!”  And I was like “Oh my gosh!  Come on!”  You know I can’t get away from it anywhere.  And, we talked about stubbornness and reverse psychology.  I have this great thing he signed for me, it says “To Stephenie, Don’t work on that stupid book! Nobody wants it anyway!”  I have it by my computer.  That really is the right direction to go with me, because I’m like “Huh!  Maybe I should do it!  I’ll show you!”   Psychology!  Anyway, that’s Midnight Sun!  so, that should disappoint everyone!

Twilight Series Theories: I don’t think so!

Stephenie: Ok!  so now we’re done!  (Laughing) So, I’ll see you guys later!

All: (Laughing)

Letters to Twilight: That’s totally understandable.

Twilight Series Theories: I would rather wait.

Twilight Source: We’re not reading it until it’s done.

Twilight Series Theories: I haven’t read it!

Letters to Twilight: You haven’t!

Stephenie: The people I worry about are the haters. You know, that like to talk about what a horrible writer I am and all that stuff.  When I do write it they’re going to say “Oh, this was worse than the first half because now she did it badly!”  No matter what I do it’s going to be that way.  There’s a mental block there.  You know what people are going to say, so I have wait until it’s just me and the book again.  Then I can feel excited about it!  You know, sometimes I’ll sit and think about the car chase, that we don’t get to see from Bella’s perspective.  I have that one completely mapped out in my head.  That one wouldn’t be hard to get down. Stuff like that, it gets exciting. Cars.  Ya know!  The first car he steals I have picked out, and then the second one.  It get’s messy!  It’s gonna be great!  You have to get excited about things!  But, that’s Midnight Sun!

common…….. PLEASE keep writing. its been almost 3 years now! i just finished the first twelve chapters, and im so sad because they didnt even get to the meadow in seattle! =( Stephanie, please. i’m begging you…. i’m kind of ….(whats the word)….. depressed that shes not writing anymore. currently ive read each book 2 times (with the exepsion of Twilight, which ive read 3 times, and eclipse which i’m on my third time) and twilight is still my favorite, because i have not read all of midnight sun… Im reading another series (Pretty Little Liars) which is really great, but not my favorite. as i already said, its obvious that my favorite series is twilight because of how many times ive read and reread the books. i’m excited that theyre making Breaking Dawn into a movie but please tell me that the roumers about it being rated R because of a certain scene are not true…… ide like to see it with my friend, but i dont have to because ive already read the books so i know what happens, but my friend hasnt. she says that she doesnt have the time to read them, but i think she just doesnt want to. im crazy about the books and i wish she liked them as much as me, but dont think thats going to happen. personally, i like the books MUCH better than the movies, but… ugh! im off topic. anyways my point is, after 3 years, FORGET ABOUT IT STEPHANIE!!!!!!! i realize it matters on how you feel, but doesnt it matter how your fans feel too? if your fans are being punished for something they did not do, well that would make me mad at Stephanie, but not the books. i would still buy them as soon as possible, but i wouldnt care about anything else your doing or thinking about doing. i want the books. i know that sounds EXTREMELY selfish( or mabey it doesnt to you, i dont care), but i… i just… want them. so bad. oh. ‘id love to go on and on about how i feel about this, but you guys are probably gettting mad because im writing so much, PLUS, i have history homework.. oh history. honestly i hate it

I read what’s available of Midnight Sun this weekend, and I just want to say, “Thank you, Stephanie! It gave me beautiful dreams! I have a vivid picture in my head now of what the rest might be like. You can take as much time as you need to write the rest, if you even get around to it at all! 🙂 *wink, wink* ”
    Much Love,
    Pepper

    • Moonlight says:

I totally agree that stephenie should take her time in writing the rest of Midnight Sun when ever she feels right about it. She shouldn’t have to worry about the fans or about what hatters think if she thinks its good and fun than she should go ahead and finish it. Thanks Stephenie for this imaginary world of fiction!!

  3. Dani says:

I REFUSE to read it until its done steph, we all love twilight, but we never really think whats behind the fantastical world. We all would love, no . . . . . . cherish every single millisecond that you spent on midnight sun. We all know you are only human (hee hee. . . get it . . . . .vampie novels!) and that you cannot work 24/7 on a book. I have never read a book more fantastic than twilight (twilight is even better than harry potter), When you read it colours a picture swish around in your head, If i am having a hard time i curl up and read it, it makes everything bad go away . . . . . . . . .. . . .. .

  7. Donnetta says:

I dont understand how any one can feel you are not a good writer I have read the whole Twilight series several times and I still am going to read them again I have an obsession with them. I have read alot of other books but the story you have created here has me intrigued more than any thing I have ever read or seen on the screen. Not even the movies touch my heart the way the books can. I am so facsinated with the story I almost feel like its a problem LOL, I dont know if you will read this but I just had to get this out, for me to say your work on this is incredibly amazing would almost be like an insult their has to be better words to capture the essence of what you do when you start typing. The place where your mind goes when you put these fantasies in black in white is a place I wish I could go every night in my dreams you are truly the greatest and I love you for creating such delightful characters. I can’t wait to read breaking dawn again I think I will start on that today…..

  8. emma says:

  10. Deann says:

Please remember in an industry there are haters that is a fact that will never change. But if we let that get in the way of what we love nothing would ever get some. I likes the movies but felling love with the books when i was stuck in England for 6 mo recovering from an accident. I was almost completely bed bound and for the first time in almost 10 years i found a series that i became engrossed in. instead of focussing on pain or getting depressed i became inspired by these books. and i love them so much that i just keep reading them over and over. even my 5 year old loves then. and i love that i feel these books are “safe” enough to be able to share with her. I just found out about midnight sun about 2 weeks ago and i did read what was on the official web site. I would never have thought it possible but i think they are actually better and that maybe because we already know about Bella’s side of the story. I have always wondered about what Edward what thinking and doing and to have some of those questions answered is an answered prayer. But no matter how badly i want you to Finnish this book and keep spitting out the rest of then i understand what you are saying. these books are the closest thing to you after your children and you what it not only to be your best work but also be a labor of love. Please remember that most of us are are not only very protective of these books and charters but we love you for letting us share them with us. the bad things are always easier to remember but i think if you listen hard enough the lovers will always drown out the haters. thank you for helping me not only recovering physically but also giving me something to look forward to. Yours. J.D. B.

  11. sabrina says:

Hi just wanted to let you know i love your books i read them with any free time i have. Take your time on Midnight sun but hope you get it done cause you are a awsome writer no matter what them hatters have to say 🙂

  12. Taliek says:

Hi. Im Taliek I love your books and can’t wait to read Mindnight sun when avalible.
But I do understand where you are coming from I am also a writter (althrough not famous or published) and it is better when you feel excited about the characters and the plot and think ‘right this is what will happen next’ but also your family and fans excitment about the book can also fule you to complete the book. I understand you wont write Midnight sun for a long time yet but I just want to remind you that the fans love you and your books. Whenever you worry about the haters just think well look at all the people who do enjoy the book and who are crazy about the saga I must be doing something write. Never think are a bad writter we love your stories Relaxe, breath, write when you can feel a link with the characters and the characters are ready to give you the story and their feelings.

  13. Mariposa says:

Stephanie is dumb … what is so hard about midnight sun??? the story is already written and its like duh!!! we already know the ending…its TWILIGHT just in Edwards POV. She should just write and not give a hoot what ppl think…. she shouldnt have been a writer if she cant handle criticism..

  14. Barbara says:

    Hi,
I can honestly say that I enjoyed this series of books and read them several times. I read the Host as well thinking it would be just as well done. I think Stephenie captured the chivalry of times past in Twilight series and this is what appeals to the readers. Let’s face it, chivalry, protectiveness, etc, are lost on the new generation. I think this is where the negative comments come from regarding the books. People see other half ooohing and ahhhing over the vampire or the warerwolf gets to them.
For Midnight Sun, I am disappointed. I think it was a must-have as there were some things written in the books that were not answered. Sentences that left me wondering what was going on. Innuendos with no explanation. Midnight Sun probably would have answered those questions.
I think the real reason that Midnight Sun is not being completed has to do with Stephenie being enamored of the movie sets, actors, and her own starring role in front of and behind the camera. Writing has taken a back seat to the movies.
Maybe once Breaking Dawn and The Host movies are old Stephenie will get back to her roots and write again. In the meantime I have found several new authors to keep me company as the book is ALWAYS better than the movie.

    • Pat says:

Well said, Barbara! I have a feeling you may be correct; the lights, action, camera has taken precedence over the words.

  20. Misty says:

    Stephanie,
Thank you for everything. Your books have been amazing and a great escape from my life into a world of intense emotions and excitement. I hope you get excited about Midnight Sun again because it would be a shame if it was never finished because I love it more than Twilight. Thanks again and just to let you know there will always be haters you just need to ignore them and focus on what you like.

  21. yvette says:

stephenie, i am reading the partial draft of midnight sun and it is soooooooooo good. when i heard the story of the leak i was furious that someone could have done this to you. i am really enjoying edwards version of events. i hope you will decide to do the entire book in the future. i will be the first one in line at the book store to purchase a copy. thank you for the wonderful writings that we are privileged to read. i have never been much of a romance fan (romance novels are too predictable…) but not the twilight saga or midnight sun. they are a breath of fresh air especially with all the interesting characters. it is impossible to put down your books, i just want to carry on reading. your style of writing and the interesting characters make all your books sought after. thank you and keep writing and dreaming up new stories. we look forward to all your future endeavours.

  22. Pat says:

While I sincerely doubt Stephanie reads these little comments of ours, I will address her directly. I am NOT a teenager, NOT a mid twenty anything. I am a middleaged, professional lady who fell in love with the Twilight world thru losing a bet. I truly had no interest in reading about a teenaged vampire lover, but my best friend, who’s teenaged girls coerced her into reading the first one, in turn wheedled, coerced and finally bribed me into reading just 2 chapters during my break one day. 25 minutes later she had to come find me…deep into chapter 5. Since then, I have enjoyed all the books and movies to date. What an awesome story, the way Twilight came into being! What a blessing, to have this story unfold the way it did, and the subsequent popularity of the characters..not to mention the author herself.
So…imagine my surprise to read “I’m really burned out on vampires”! I’m sorry? You’re burned out on the very thing that made anyone even know what your name is? Or care, for that matter? While I understand your disappointment in someone breaking faith and posting something not theirs to share, I’m sorry, I cannot fathom punishing everyone who is a sincere fan for the stupidity of ONE. That is just selfish. The story from the character Edward’s POV is a refreshing twist that, as far as I know, has never been done, which you have at your disposal, but won’t be don’t because you’re ‘really burnt out on vampires’? Wow. So….let’s say your many fans get burnt out on vampires? And stop supporting you with millions of fan sites, fan mail, showing you all this love….while you dangle a carrot called Midnight Sun because it will feel like HOMEWORK!! I do understand having to ‘feel’ the story, but you are not CREATING the story, it’s already started, it’s picking up where you left off.
I, personally, had to stop myself from buying Eclipse, although I wanted to. I did see it in the movies, prior to reading the whole “I’m tired…” statement. I refuse to support someone who, in effect, slapped millions of fans in the face because someone else hurt them. By the way, to the a**hole who did that…CONGRATULATIONS….YOU WIN!

  23. Deborah says:

Me too sincerely doubt Stephanie reads these comments, But I have hope!!!
I am Brazilian and I write very bad, so excuse the errors… Hi Lu you not are alone! rs…
Stephenie is the most perfect author the world, so must remember: “The way to fame, is like the way to heaven,–through much tribulation” and criticism is the price of success.

Until your draft is perfect ! Please, let our life more happy! Finish the midnight sun.

I love you very much and I love your books increasingly !!!
    We are waiting… Sorry pressure!!!

  24. Julie says:

Hey, I think Midnight sun , when finished, will be the best book of the series. I think Stephenie should write a companion Edward or Jacob book for each of the Twilight series books. It would be interesting to see all of the books from another perspective. Just think of that collection…

    • Lynn says:

I just discoved this saga in Oct 2010. I have to just say that it is definately my brand of herione. I have the complete in 1 week, i couldn’t put it down. Since i kept having to renew my loan from the library, I asked for the boxed set for my birthday and still can’t put it down. I discovered Midnight sun on StephenieMeyer.com website. I’m really excited to hear that it is still a possibility of it being completed and published, I was also thinking of Jacob’s side but mostly him and Renesmee, not Bella. As Renesmee is his happy ending, And a new story with bits of the one we love.

  25. Amelia Jane says:

    Hii,
I would love to say that I’m going to explode with anticpation until Midnight Sun is on the shelves and I need you to finish it, but… I agree wth the fact that it takes time to write a really good book and you have to enjoy writing it. I obviously mean all the things I said before but I think everyone would rather wait longer and read another amazing twilight book that we know and love rather than something that you don’t enjoy to write and is not as good. I love every single book you have written and think they are brilliant, I would like to be an author myself and I find your books a good way to feel crative again when I have a mental block. Thank you so much for writing the Twilight series they are the best books I have ever read (literally) and I can’t wait for more.
    Please keep writing,
    In anticipation
    Amelia Jane

  26. Debbie Cook says:

Hello……..You know……I have not picked up a book in about 15 years…….Havent seen any that i would really want to read.
Last christmas my 15 year daughter asked for the twilight books….so i went and bought all four of them…even then i really did not look at them….Know almost a year later, i was sitting at home like i always do…bored out of my mind…..I senn the first book laying on my table….I started wondering why my daughter craved this books so much. I picked it up and looked at the cover….flipped it over and looked at the back cover….and then i read the back cover…………………..To my surprise, i wanted to read it…….so that was the beginning……now i have read all for books in just 5 weeks…….they were like a drug…i was so adicted……..i think i fell as hard as bella did for eward………i also read what i could of midnightsun………and if that was a draft…..Stephenie, what you do with the rest of the book is really up to you….doesnt really mater what you think what others will think….the so called haters…..well how can they hate if they really havent read it….cause i can see what they were reading couldnt be midnightsun…if it were they would love it also…………..i was really bored with my life….thats why i picked up your first book……i felt like i was living a new life through bella …through your words…..everone should feel this kind of love at least once in there life…………..

  27. Team-Edward says:

    Hi,
Stephanie i have read every single one of your books more times than i can count. i only started to read them last year,my friends would always go on and on about twilight so i decided to buy the books. As soon as i read the first page i was hooked, i have never been so obsessed by any book in my whole life. I swear to god i would stay up to like 3 in the morning reading and i would even read them in class, i don’t care that i was teased and called a book worm (hah like i care) as soon as i picked up the book i entered a whole new world. I was so upset when i heard your new book Midnight Sun had been illegaly published on the internet before it was finished, i was devastated when i heard you weren’t completing it. But i promise to you i will no read the draft untill you have completed the whole book, because it would kill me if when i finished it and it left me hanging on the edge with nothing left for meto read. I hope you are able to finish Midnight Sun soon becauseit seems like the whole world is waiting for it………

  28. Megan says:

    hey stephanie,
i was just letting you know that you are an amazing writer and take your time writing midnight sun… i can’t wait for you to finish because i know it will be amazing but i want you to be happy with your work too! i have read all 5 books over and over again and i will be content to reread them until midnight sun is finished and released! i also love harry potter and have read all 7 of those books but only once each… i love how you make us believe in the supernatural and transforms me to a world where anything is possible you put so much detail into your books it is so easy to picture the scene and i love the books a bit more than the movies, don’t get me wrong i love the movies i even asked my husband to take me to see eclipse on opening night for our anniversary… and he took me it was the only one of the movies i saw in theaters and it was my favorite book (my next fav is breaking dawn) so in closing you need to do what you need to do for yourself and when the time is right midnight sun will come to you and it will be amazing!!! oh and i noticed you were in a scene in twilight why weren’t you in any of the other ones??? oh yeah you need to go on the Ellen Degeneres show when midnight sun comes out, that is the best talk show on tv!! well be safe and happy holidays to you and yours!
    xoxo megan

Stephenie Meyer….. I’m only 13 years old and i am IN LOVE with your work…. I have read the whole Twilight Saga Over 10 times….. It never gets old… I could read them 10 more times and never get sick of it….. I would read the draft to Midnight Sun, but to be honnest, I want to read the whole thing….. The Twilight Saga is my favorite book series of all time…. And I would LOVE to read my personal favorite vampires side of the story (Edward Cullen)….. I have looked to see if you were going to finish Midnight Sun… But however i keep getting the sme answer… No… This makes me sad…. I have read many of your books and they continue to intrigue me…. Twilight contains suspense, romance, secret love, and hushed affection all in eual parts… They are deeply seductive and extraodinarily suspenseful….. And I can’t believe what an amazing author you are…I felt like i was living a new life through Bella …through your words….. I think everyone should feel this kind of love at least once in there life…Not even the movies touch my heart the way the books can…. I am so facsinated with the story I almost feel like its a problem….. But if you would please finish Midnight Sun, I would REALLY appreciate it… However, that would be up to you…. Thank you.
    Love,
    Kasey

  33. Charity says:

    Stephenie,
I am 25 yrs old and have read all of The Twilight Series at lease 8 times. I have never really been interested in reading until a friend told me that she would pay me $100 if I read all of the books and didnt like them. Of course, I fell in love with them the first couple pages into reading. I just wanted to say thank you for giving me hope and freedom again. I have had some very bad things happen to me and I am still in the process of trying to get passed them and trying to move forward.I have a very loving family and alot of great friends who have tried to help me through this, by supporting me and trying to help me in their own special ways. But honestly I found myself faking, trying to be normal to protect them from knowing that nothing was working. Until I read your books. Believe it or not, your books are what have helped me through. They have helped me keep pushing forward. They have taught me to use what I know and what has happened to me as the foundation of my life. I relate to Edward in so many ways. You may find that weird, but I do. He is shameful of who and what he has become, He tries to be normal at all costs, He’s protective and wants to be able to feel again without all of the constant mood swings and emotional changes. All of which is me as well. He thinks he is a souless monster in which I feel I have had my soul taken from me without my permission. But no matter what, he keeps going, knowing that he probably will not be able to get one piece of his old self back. I would usually be sending you an email, instead of posting this on a public site, but I couldnt find an address for you and I think you need to know the difference you have made in my life. Even though Edward is a fictional character, it is nice to at least read that you are not alone and that someone else understands or feels the same way. When I read, I escape to a fantasy world where its not all bad and where there is hope no matter the situation. Come on….a human….and vampire? You cant get more hopeful then that. And in doing that I get to escape reality just for a little bit. You have no idea how much that has helped me. I read the other day that someone had published your rough draft of Midnight Sun on the internet without your permission. Then I had read on your site where you said it was a violation of your human rights and your rights as an author. I totally agree. And I know exactly how you feel and I am so sorry . I know that when something like that happens to you , its really hard to keep going forward. But to me, I am to stubborn to let anyone who harmed me win without a fight. As I said before I relate to Edward, and I would really like you to finish the novel. On your own time of course. Your books have really helped me and I just think that having the Twilight book put in Edward’s point of view would be amazing. I am a fighter and I am hoping you are too. And if you are, there is no way you will let someone like critics or people who just are jealous of you, try to stop you from writing something that is great and that helps so many people. Not to mention stopping you from doing something you love. I know that when this all happened you had said that you had to be in the mood to write. Well I am hoping this will help get you back into the mood to write again. You have made a huge difference in my life and I dont have to try so hard anymore to just push forward. I dont know what it is about the book series exactly. All I know is that it helped me. I wish you luck in your writing, and I agree that it is not something that can be rushed through. I just hope you will not give up. After all, our situations are not the same, but I havent given up yet and I am praying that you wont either. Fact is, there are mean, devilish and dishonest people in the world. Everywhere you go there is always going to be someone trying to bring you down. Its up to you, if you let them. Thanks again, for writing the best series anyone could ever imagine. I am truly grateful.

    Hello
I’m from Armenia, I’d say Im a fan from Armenia. I read all the series of Twilight and Im impressed and full of emotions. The series helpt me in difficult times. But the Midnight sun is another inspiration. I always have been thinking of Edwards side of the story and thought that it would be more interesting. Reading the Midnight sun made my hopes real and I would like Stephany to know that even in such a small and unknown country like Armenia the funs are wating for the Midnight sun . I hope that everyones whishes will come true and espessialy Stephany’s.
    Thank you

  37. RJ says:

    Hello Stephanie.

I say hello directly to you with the assumption that you come to this blog to use as inspiration and as a reminder that your stories affect us all. Although the movies didn’t do your books justice, they were geared for a bit more than just writing and I can understand that. bills must be paid.

But unfortunately, that is also why it will NEVER be the same. You speak as though things will get back to the way they were so that your mindset is exactly as it was before. But as you can see, with all the craze, they won’t. So I say, find another means of inspiration. What I like is the depth of insight you gave us from Bella’s perspective, and from what I’ve read of the draft that you left for us on MS, that is the exact same signature depth you’re giving us from Edward’s eyes. I too can see EVERYTHING that you’re going to write with this story. The things that are plausible, possible, and even the things that are a bit of a stretch. You showed that you wanted to give a perspective of everyone, not just the main characters, to remind us that everyone sees every part of this saga from a different light. As you showed us with Bree Tanner, sometimes the bitter struggle doesn’t even matter to some of the “insignificant” characters. I put quotations around insignificant because you want to show that they arent. Now, personally, I would have chosen to continue Bree Tanners life indefinitely. But you showed that not only is there a life outside the love triangle and the battles of wit with the Volturi, but that even such a finite character like Bree Tanner can have a heart wrenching storyline to muse over.

So in conclusion, don’t look for the old feelings that you had when originally writing MS. They’re gone. And no matter how badly you look for them, the damage is done, and you must move on. Instead, look for more inspirations in this new life you have now, changed with the times, and remember that this, your imagination, is your greatest gift to us as well.

I look forward to your continuation of the different perspectives of the twilight saga. especially the perspectives of Jacob and his entire tribe. That is definitely the story that has a billion facets to work with.

    Your fan, truly,

    RJ

I feel like I need to say something.

    I’m one of the haters.

I truly hope she never finishes Midnight Sun.

You see, sometimes, because I’m a bit of a masochist, I come onto these comment pages and I look around. You all say, “i luv these books stephnie keep riting i love you OMG EDWARD YAYAYAY!!1!!1” but I have to wonder if you really READ the books? Because they’re shit, man. SHIT. They give out a horrible message to girls, and the quality of writing belongs in a ninty-nine cent romance novel, not a best-selling work of fiction. I’m amazed that someone decided to publish it. It is, in the nicest words I could possibly use, a piece of trash.

Another point I’d like to make is that NONE OF YOU CAN SPELL. Did you even pass first grade? I mean, “I LOVE twilight! i cnt w8 4 new moon…i mite get it 4 x-mas.”

    Really?

It hurts me to see the English language raped like that.

    Please, please, please. Grow up.

Wow, you honestly felt the need to waste your time and ours to come on here and critisize everyone. Sorry, but it sounds like you are telling others something you should also tell yourself…Grow up.

    • Sierra says:

Just to say ya people can go over bored about things they love but if you hate the books so much then why in the world are you even on this site?? No one cares about what you say so you can GO GET A LIFE and leave fans and Stephenie Meyer alone. I would like to see you write a book and have it become as popular as hers are. Just saying in the nicest words I could possibly use.

    • major twilight aholic says:

im sorry but the……….hmmmmmm…………. jerks like you really whet is the point? just because you dont like something dosent mean you have to be mean and try to make everyone else hate too. i mean its your problem deal with it

    Dear Stephanie,
I’m not the sort of person who normally writes to authors, but I really have too, so I’m hoping you read your fan page… I absolutely adore the twilight series, I’m not going to do the whole cliched- I’m your biggest fan- I dont have the T-shirts or anything, (not that theres anything wrong with that obv), and if I’m honst, I really felt let down by the films, theres not nearly enough of the joy in them that was in the books but anyway…. I got lost in a completely different world when I read your books. I go to boarding school, and for weeks we talked more about Bella and Edward than we did the people around us, I have a friend who sobbed at the end of breaking dawn because the journey was over.
I read midnight sun. I know you didn’t want people to, but when you said you didn’t know if you would finish it, I decided not to wait. And, it is so so good! from Edward’s perspective the whole story is even more magical, and so it would really be amazing if you would finish it for us. I understand you’re upset, I would be too, but at the end of the day, whats done is done, and there are thousands of people dying to read what you’ve written, shouldn’t that be inspiration enough? Of course I will wait to read it, as evryone will, and theres not point finishing it if you don’t feel you can, but please don’t take years and years, Right now I’m in my late teens, and I can relate to everything you’ve written, I’m not saying I won’t relate to it later in life, but I’d just love to read it while I’m still caught up in the bubble of the story. Also for the record, I thought ‘the host’ was amazing too, you have such a talent for transporting people to a different place, and I hope you continue to do so.

Thank you so much for your fantastic books.

I am a little bit obsessed with your books haha.

i think that you should take as much time as you need.. i am only 16 but i am working on books well one more than others .. and it would kill me if someone did to me what they did two you .. it was not right .. i can understand in ways why you would not want to go on … and if you never finish it would be a shame … but i and alot of other people will always be happy for the rest of the saga..

  44. Coni says:

    Hi Stephanie,
I just want to reiterate what has been said over and over again…..I absolutely love the twilight series. I’m a 37 mother of 2 and am not ashamed to say that I’m a die hard fan. I’ve read all 4 books 3 times and have started over again with twilight for the 4th time! they are so well written and like another fan has said…..you can see pictures in your head through out the books. It’s too bad that they can’t put everything in the book on screen, but I can understand that some people wouldn’t sit through a 3 if not 4 hour movie…lol….I myself would!!! I’m just rambling now, so to get to my point……PLEASE, PLEASE…….you NEED to finish midnight sun…..I don’t care if it’s broken into 5 bible sized books…….I will buy and read all of them with as much enthusiasm as I read the entire series over and over again. I read your rough draft off your website and absolutely LOVED it. This series just won’t be complete with out midnight sun. I love all the characters and all, but to be able to get into Edwards head would just be out of this world. The intensity that is there from Bella’s perspective is unbelievable…….but to understand everything that Edward has to go through for her would just seal the deal for me. You have created a world for so many people around the world that is so beautiful. Don’t listen to all those critics out there that don’t like your work……just let it roll off your shoulders. I believe what you’ve grossed from the first three movies and book sales speaks for it’s self. Breaking dawn is going to be even better and once you’ve completed midnight sun…….not only will you be able to put twilight to rest, but you will leave all of your millions of team Edward fans elated for decades if not centuries. The best books I’ve ever read…..REALLY. I could not put them down, so please…..PLEASE……..do what you have to do and get rid of that writers block and let us have EDWARD.

Thank you so much for such a beautiful series Stephanie……now get to work…lol!

  46. major twilight aholic says:

Hey i totally get where your coming from. I just found out about and read your beginnings of Midnight Sun and I really liked it. I mean i am sure you get that all the time but honestly I just think its injenous! I have read each book atleast 20 times or more ( its gotten to the point where random quotes just pop into my head. I can actually quote entire chapters. but anyways…) and I still find my heart racing, crying at the sad parts, and smiling and shouting in exultion every time. But see every time I read them its like, I wonder how this is through Edwards eyes, or I wonder what Charlie is thinking. And so when I was finally able to borrow Breaking Dawn for the first time and see how you went to Jacob’s perspective (actually it was so engrossing that i could not put it down, and I ended up reading the whole thing in one night. but that kinda sucked because it was a school night and i got absoloughtly no sleep whatsoever.) Well lets just say it was like someone tieing a blindfold over your eyes and saying, “Here try this.” and you got a hint if what it is but you can’t really comprehend it. So when I read Midnight Sun it cleared things up and was kinda like my wishes coming true to be able to see it through someone elses thoughts. and now every time I read the books I can’t help but use your small looks into Jacob and Edwards deeper minds to compare and try to figure out what they are thinking in certain parts. Anyways like I said I get where your coming from because of some hard things that have happened in my life, and from some very shunning people. So am I going to ask you to keep writing? NO. Do I want you too? Yes! I most definately do. I think it would just be great to see the whole series or even just Twilight through Edwards eyes. But again everybody has their own mind and their own choices. I mean who would listen to me I am only twelve (almost thirteen). And who is going to listen to a kid? Well either way I love what you have done with Midnight Sun so far and the whole series. Well I don’t really have anything left to say since I am not going to ask you to wright it or put you down about it. Sooo…. That’s all, thanks for reading, and sorry for any typos. Best of luck!!
