We were amazed going through the interview with Stephenie Meyer, and wanted to bring you an answer to one of the MOST asked questions… The very first thing Stephenie addressed was Midnight Sun, and now you can hear it all straight from her!

Meghan: So alright, go for it!
Stephenie: Wait! Wait, wait, wait! Do you all have your tape recorders on?
All: (Nodding and saying yes!)
Stephenie: First question, because we are going to deal with this right now, is Midnight Sun! Right? So we don’t have to…
All: (Lot’s of blabbering…)
Stephenie: I know that’s what everyone cares about. I also know that the right answer would be for me to say “Oh yah, it’s done! And it’ll be out next month!” But that’s not true. It’s also not true that I’ve got a ton of work done on it, and that’s what I’m working on. What’s true is that I’m really burned out on vampires. And, I don’t want to write it badly. So I want to wait until I’m excited about the material again, and I’m excited about Edward, and that it’s something that’s motivating. You know, when a story is keeping me up at night, and I’m waking up at 4 am in the morning and thinking ‘Yes! That is what is what should happen in this moment!’ Then that is when I can write with happiness! So, right now it feels like homework… it really does. And when things feel like homework they go very, very slowly for me. So it’s still not a “It’s not gonna happen!” I want to do it when I can do it right. You know, I have my share of human stubbornness, and I have to tell you, it’s a little bit hard when people are like “This is the only thing you can do, and it’s the only thing we care about!” And, you’re kind of like a three year old, you want to be like “I’m gonna do what I wanna do!” Yah. “You’re not the boss of me!” So my mom has backed off a little bit. Actually, I was at The Fray concert, and I was hanging out with the guys backstage. They’re really cool, and I was talking to Isaac about it. He was like, “I really want you to do that!” And I was like “Oh my gosh! Come on!” You know I can’t get away from it anywhere. And, we talked about stubbornness and reverse psychology. I have this great thing he signed for me, it says “To Stephenie, Don’t work on that stupid book! Nobody wants it anyway!” I have it by my computer. That really is the right direction to go with me, because I’m like “Huh! Maybe I should do it! I’ll show you!” Psychology! Anyway, that’s Midnight Sun! so, that should disappoint everyone!
Twilight Series Theories: I don’t think so!
Stephenie: Ok! so now we’re done! (Laughing) So, I’ll see you guys later!

Stephenie: The people I worry about are the haters. You know, that like to talk about what a horrible writer I am and all that stuff. When I do write it they’re going to say “Oh, this was worse than the first half because now she did it badly!” No matter what I do it’s going to be that way. There’s a mental block there. You know what people are going to say, so I have wait until it’s just me and the book again. Then I can feel excited about it! You know, sometimes I’ll sit and think about the car chase, that we don’t get to see from Bella’s perspective. I have that one completely mapped out in my head. That one wouldn’t be hard to get down. Stuff like that, it gets exciting. Cars. Ya know! The first car he steals I have picked out, and then the second one. It get’s messy! It’s gonna be great! You have to get excited about things! But, that’s Midnight Sun!

i reallt really love twilight after i read one i coulnt stop i HAD TO!!!! read more i really cant expain how i feel about twilight beause it became a part of my life i feel like im part of the book!!!!! i love twilight i have since i read the first book i then went to the bookstore when i had finished with my first wages nd bought the rest of them, i love the rest. I can’t wait till midnight sun comes out but only when u want to do it otherwise it won’t be the same. Have you thought of other books on twilight like about Renesmee’s future or edwards past or after the volturi come and the continued speeding life and what could happen if jacob and renesmee have a adult relationship could she conceive a child? i hope u read this stephenie meyer i absolutely love all the twilight books & films
I read the Twilight Saga, like everyday! It is my favorite series!!! When I finish one book, I go on to the next one. I just goes in a cycle.
I really do love the twilight books and I am not a teenager. I love the romance involved in the whole of your novels. Yes, I would love to read Midnight Sun, but in your time. I hope you do a big splashy release date so no one will miss it. I fell in love with vampires watching Dark Shadows an now I am 53. I still love the romance

It doesn’t matter if you’re a teenager or not…The Twilight Saga is the best series I have ever read I’m 24 and my mom is 49 and we read them together and discuss what happens in each book, each chapter, each thing that triggers what may happen next…we have all the movies and can’t wait to see Breaking Dawn. We are hoping for a midnight viewing of the movie so we can be some of the first to see all the action play on out on screen. Every time the movies come on Showtime we watch them. I’m watching Twilight right now! Lol! I just love the books and the romance and action. I’m really looking forward to seeing Vladmir and Stefan (the Romanian) vamps; they were so funny to me. Stephanie Meyer is honestly my favorite author and I thank her so much for writing the series. I have always loved vampires since I first saw Interview With The Vampire and will always love them. Thank you Stephanie for keeping my childhood love and fantasy for Vampires alive!
I absolutely agree with you on that one!! I am 27 and to be honest i was reluctent to read the books because it was geared more for teens. My friends started talking about it and i finally gave in to be apart of the conversations 🙂 I fell in love with the books. Stephenie is an excellent author. Many authors will simply state “Jane Doe is stubborn” and we as readers are supposed to take it as it is. Stephenie does an excellent job of not telling you what the character is but guiding you to come to the conclusion she wants you to. She gives you the character’s thoughts, emotions and reactions as the story progresses. She makes it very easy to fall into the story and forget reality for a bit. Something that makes an extroidinary author.
I know that she is burnt out and i totally understand. To be honest i read midnight sun partial draft and just felt teased by it. I really wanted to read edward’s perspective when he brought her to the woods for the first time to show himself in the sun and explain the things that come with being a vampire (good and bad). And her partial draft stopped just shy of it. 🙁 I just know when she does finish the book it will be fantastic. The turmoil Edward feals especially in the begining will make an excellent book. I understand that good writing is an art form and requires patience but it doesnt make it any easier to wait.
befor twilight i did not read that much. but win i saw the movie i just had to read them, and now i can’t stop. i love them. i am sorry for what thay did to you and the reast of us twilight fans. you take all the time you need stepfenie. but i do hope you finch it. ps. i am a huge edward fan amd i am going to name my dog edward callen!!!!!!

Here’s hoping that Midnight sun comes out in time for the same cast to play the parts. It would be interesting to the actors act out their roles from the other perspective. While I’m sure another cast could do a good job, it wouldn’t be the same. It would also be the first time such a thing has been done. It would be such a shame if the opportunity were lost. Whoever released the manuscript on the internet should be shot.
I LOVE these books I am only done with Twilight and New moon heading out to buy the next 2! I just can not stop reading once I start! I really hope that Midnight Sun will be published, I would love to see things through Edward…..
I absolutely love the twilight saga!!! I am positiviely obsessed with Edward Cullen. Wishing that Meyers gets the itch to do Midnight Sun, such a pity how it panned out!!!!!!

I am in love wit twilight…it is like my life. And im like DIEING for more twilight books….the 4 (or 5 i guees with bree tanners) is not enough….i want to know more from edwards side…ecspecially new moon….but also rosalie would be a really interesting one to read. I just dont want twilight to end…..it makes me wanna cry when i think about it ending…..and i cant wait for midnight sun……i really want to know what happens with edward and bella after breaking dawn also….but that might be just me 🙂 anyways i hope u read this cuz im a HUGE fan and i will love twilight forever and ever its absuloutly amazing!!!

I totally understand being burnt out from all this vampire talk, but you have to understand that you have die hard twilight fans(me) that crave anything twilight like a drug. I want you to come out with midnight sun, and all that may follow, when your ready, but sooner rather than later. As much as I want to help, I cant tell you not to do it just so that you’ll do it, cause that would be a lie. Just know that we(your twilight fans) NEED IT. ASAP PLEASE.
I am not only dreaming about Midnight sun but also about reading all four books from Edwards perspective. That would be the ultimate thing.
That would be huge, I also read the draft of Midnight sun and thought of how different it was than the same story in Bellas perpestive. At first I thought it wouldn’t be so exciting because you already know what will happen BUT when I read Edwards perspective I was so fascinated by the way he lived through each and every moment.
I really hope Stepehnie feels the excitment soon again and is able to finish Midnight Sun as well as write the rest of the story, all from Edwards perspective.
I will be patiently waiting for the moment where I can dive into the Twilight world once again …

WoW!!! I love the twilight books! i read the draft of midnight sun and i really cant wait till its published!!! please please please write a fifth book in the main series what happens to nessie and jacob and the werewolves and the cullens i reallly gotta know more!!! thanks

I love the way Stephanie writes.She has a way of making you( the reader ) feel every emotion that the character is feeling.I don’t read very many books cause I can’t seem to get into them.They don’t hold my attention.But with the Twilight Saga,I could not put it down,I laughed,I cried.There were so many different feelings from this series.I hope that she also finishes Midnight Sun.I would also like to see her maybe some day go ahead with writting more on the Cullens and the Wearwolves….The later yrs….These books have captivated us all at least the twigh hard fans,that we would love and read anything she wrote about the vampires & the Wolf pack.Stephanie we Love you and your writting.I for 1 Loved all of the books and I have read Midnight Sun at least the first 200+ pages and it’s great.Keep up the great work.I’m a big,big fan.Can’t wait for more.
i just love the twilight books. u are a talented writer and i would love to read midnight sun but im like everyone else only when u want to. the one thing i think is u should write edwards point of view in all the books i think plenty of people would love to read that. i know i will buy all of them because i am a hugh twilight fan and a hugh fan of yours and i would buy anything u write.

You of course know that you are a fabulous writer, but honestly I would prefer you not write a crappy book, I enjoy reading what you have, and to ur comment about they will bash what you write anyway, just tell them I didnt write it for you and if you dont like it, dont read it. Take your time and make sure you are prepared to write. I would like to say Thank you for the incrediable work you do for myself and my children.

I love everything you write, you are truely such a talented author when i heard you were releasing you short novel bree tanner i was so excited to read something by you again i have read all of the saga about 10 times, i love the twilight world and cant wait for midnight sun but can wait untill your ready to write it, becaue everyone wants it to be your best work like the rest of your books and not to be rushed just because other people want you to write it. i have also read your other book host that was also a awsome book i cant wait for the movie of it. I just hope you continue you to write but most importantly carry on ENJOYING to write and not doing it to please everyone else. I hope she read this because i wrote it the year when she said she was not going to finish it and i have been trying to get her read it for years i have Send it to fan mail and all that but i think she never got it so I am Going to post the letter hope she reads it and hope to hear commets and stuff from you guys.

Dear Stephenie Meyer,
I would appreciate if you read this but if you are to busy I would appreciate it more if you skip down to the reasons at the end of this letter. My apologies if I offend or say anything I should not have, I am just voicing my thought and pray to be heard.
Ok. I am not sure how to put this in words so again if I offend forgive my rudeness is the first time I’ve written a letter to someone and especially an author like yourself so I am a little nervous.
I read Midnight sun the other day. When I was done reading I felt so sad. I mean the chapter was awesome but you feel like you need more like it isn’t enough. There are so many things that are missing: the first kiss, the scene at the meadow, Bella’s first visit to see his family, the first night, when he left, the pain, the anguish, when he finally had her in her arms again, the proposal, the honeymoon, the transformation. There are so many things that just leaves you with question and wanting to know every thing that happened through every motion he does. It’s not fair there are so many things that are missing (which I mention in the reasons on the end of this letter)! It’s just…Your words are so magical is like every page is begging to be read, and the rest of it is begging to be written by you.
I know those people the ones that put the story on the internet disappointed you, but look at it this way your going to disappoint all your fans for that one person. There are some people that every time they got there hands on the internet they went to your website to see any news of Midnight Sun. Y Your brother Seth said that once he was flooded with emails on Midnight Sun. That how many people care! And, God is my witness, there are some people that only read what you posted and have been eager for more but from you! Some readers don’t think it’s just a stupid book for entertainment it’s an escape from the real world. There are other authors that the same thing as you happened to them but they continued just think of all the innocent fans that are waiting for the awesome Midnight Sun from Stephenie Meyer! I swear, and there are others that have done the same thing, that we will never read the chapters posted in the internet we are still waiting for yours! PLEASE DON’T STOP!!!
In a way the readers only know about Edward and Bella and some of the stories about Cullens lives but when you announced the beginning of Midnight Sun it was like there are so many possibilities we’ve seen Bella’s mind but not Edwards. I mean since Edward can mind read we can see the thoughts of everyone around him he can read the Cullens. We can see the changes the Alice meant in Twilight page 410-411) That Bella did not see. We can see what Edward meant about “A hundred years from now, when you’ve gained enough perspective to really appreciate the answer I will tell you.” Eclipse page 513. There are so many things that leave us with questions! At the end of this letter I give you the reasons and the things that leave you with questions. And think about the Cullens (I know they are fictional characters but you can’t just let them die!!!! What is that all about!!!! “In my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die,” http://www.stepheniemeyer.com\midnightsun . I know you can’t be serious let the Cullens die they have nothing to do with that you are the one that is mad and you have every right to be but that doesn’t mean that its impossible you said Edward deserves to have his chance to tell his story you say so many things (show in reasons) and you say that! PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU RETHINK THIS YOU ARE HURTING SO MANY PEOPLE AND YOURSELF AND EDWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON’T STOP!!!!!

How could you do this to your fans!? You say Edward deserves to tell his story But Look What You’re Doing!! DON’T STOP PLEASE DON’T STOP!!!!!!!!
The reasons why Stephenie Meyer should not give up told by in her own book (numbers that are in red and underlined are the most important [the sentences in red are the thing I want to get your attention on]):
Told by Twilight:
1) Page 19-43- Bella’s first look to Edwards disappearance to there first talk.
-What was he thinking????????!!!!!!!!! It’s so frustrating not knowing what he thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2) Page 255- “No one knows you’re with me?” Angrily, now.
“That depends… I assume you told Alice?”
“That’s very helpful Bella,” He snapped.
I pretended I didn’t hear that.
“Are you so depress by forks that it made you suicidal?” he demanded
when I ignore him.
“You said it might cause you trouble…us being together publicly,” I
reminded him.
“So you’re worried about the trouble it might cause me-if you don’t come
back home?” His voice was still angry, and bitingly sarcastic.
I nodded keeping my eyes on the road.
He muttered something under his breath, speaking so quickly that I couldn’t understand.
– What was he thinking?
3) Page 410- 411- “Bella, Bella, stop,” he interrupted me, his words pouring out so quickly they were hard to understand. “You’re worrying about all the wrong things, Bella trust me on this- none of us are in jeopardy. You are under to mush strain as it is; don’t add to it with wholly unnecessary worries. Listen to me!” he ordered, for had looked away.
“But why should you-”
Alice interrupted this time, touching my cheek with her cold fingers. “It’s been almost a century that Edward’s been alone. Now he’s found you. You don’t see the changes we see, we who have been with him for so long. Do you think any of us want to look into his eyes for the next hundred years if he losses you?”
– What were the changes? In this paragraph you are actually introducing Midnight Sun.
Why? Well various reasons, for one you will be in Edward’s point of view so you would be in the heads of all of the Cullen’s which would be so cool since you only get small glimpses of them in all four books. So technically speaking… you will see the changes Alice is talking about. You will be able to see what everyone around him was thinking and what were his first thoughts of Bella (which is still so coooooool). Again this is another one of those only reasons why you should write Midnight Sun but again I will give you a lot more don’t worry!
4) Page 403- 458-(Page 418) “I miss you,” I whispered
“I know Bella. Believe me, I know. Its like you’ve taken half my self away with you.”
“Come and get it, then” I challenged.
-Your wondering what happens with Edward on those pages, From when he left her to the battle to the hospital.
Told by New Moon:
1) Whole book- It’s the whole book because or he wasn’t there or he was but you are dying to know what he is thinking. So… yeah whole book.
2) Page 537- I took a deep breath, smiled, and turned back to Edward. “Okay. You can take me home.”
Edward rushed me out the house before Carlisle could promise anything else. He took me out the back, so I didn’t get to see what was broken in the living room.
-What did he break?
3) Page 538-542-(Page 538) “If you could have anything in the world, what would it be?”
– The entire conversation your wondering what could he possibly be thinking?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Told by Eclipse:
1) Page 18- “Good evening Charlie” Edward was flawlessly polite, polite even though Charlie didn’t deserve it.
– Ok. You got to be desperate to hear what Charlie thinking. I mean come on.
2) Page 99-140- Bella’s first visit to Jacob.
– Ok. You got to be dying to know the following:
1. Where is Edward?
2. What in the world is he thinking???!!!
3) Page 140-144-(Page 140) “I’m going to study,” I announced glumly as I headed up stairs.
“See you later,” Charlie called after me.
If I survive, I thought to myself.
……………………………….
(Page 140) I cringed, waited for the torrent, but it didn’t come. He just continued to glare, possibly to angry to even speak.
“Hi,” I finally said
His face could have been carved from stone. I counted to a hundred in my head, but there was no change.
-Ok. Maybe is just my obsession talking but you got to be dying to know what millions of thoughts are going through his head at that instant.
4) Page 186-195- Bella’s sleepover.
– Ok. The whole night Edwards with Bella your wondering what in the world he is thinking from the beginning to the end; From Edward trying to make Bella like the bed to Edward being nice with the whole visiting a werewolf thing to the funny part of Bella’s jealousy of Tanya (I really really wish I could have read Edward’s mind on that he must have been dying of laughter and pleasure.) Anyway you really want to know what in the world is in Edward’s mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5) Page 237-261- (Page 237)As I turned from him I thought I saw a flash of something in his eyes that I wasn’t suppose to see. I couldn’t tell for sure what it was exactly. Worry, maybe. For a second I thought it was panic. But I was probably making something out of nothing, as usual.
– Ok. Same as before you got to be dying to know the following:
1. What in the world is he thinking???!!!
2. When he leaves Bella where in the world could Edward go to?
6) Page 264-265- “Did I wake you?” he whispered. There was a sound of paper, the ruffling of pages, and a faint thump as something light fell on the wooden floor.
“No,” I mumbled, sighing in contentment as his arm tightened around me. “I had a bad dream.”
“Do you want to tell me about it?”
I shook my head. “Too tired. Maybe in the morning, if I remember.”
I felt a silent laugh shake through him.
“In the morning,” He agreed.
“What where you reading?” I muttered, not really awake at all.
“Wuthering Heights,” he, said.
I frowned sleepily. “I thought you didn’t like that book.”
“You left it out,” he murmured, his soft voice lulling me toward unconsciousness. “Besides… the more time I spend with you, the more human emotions seem comprehensible to me. I’m discovering that I can sympathize with Heathcliff in ways I didn’t think possible before.”
“Mmm,” I sighed.
He said something else, something low, but I was already asleep.

Yes, surly I must have dreamt Edward said anything positive about Healthcliff. And this page was probably not the page he’d been reading. The book could have fallen to any page.
– What did he say????!!!!!!
What was he thinking????!!!!!!

From the accident with the placenta detaching to Bella burning which Edward is in agony to the first hunt, the first time Bella saw Renesmee, the charge where Bella tries to hurt Jacob, to the first night with Edward, Every time Bella leaves Edward, the Volturi, the almost battle. There are a lot of thing I am missing I know but you have no idea how long my list was and if I started to write it this will be one scary thing not that it already is but I don’t want to make it scarier. And especially since I dropped a lot of things in the other books so this would be a lot scarier.

Okay I am one of those horrid people that read Midnight Sun…I honestly think whatever direction Stephenie decides to take it..the fans will love it… My hope is to see New Moon from Edwards perspective as well…I would really like to know what he was doing while Bella was miserable. I read the first part of Midnight Sun and I don’t think she can finish it. I mean Edward is a much deeper character than Bella and the writing involved may be beyond her after all. While the first part was very good I just can’t see her being up to all the complexities involved in the second part. And really the fervor about all the stories is almost over so she would have to do it sooner rather than later but I don’t think she has that kind of determination and passion in her. Oh well, it is easier to write a first round story than a more in depth character development. The books were very good but it is harder to follow good with good or even better.

I LOVE all of the twilight books! I borrowed the books from my friend at first and when i started reading twilight i read the entire book in like 4 hours, NO JOKE! I didn’t eat or even take my eyes off of the book until i was completely done. I have all of the movies and all of the books now. Ive probably read all of the books at least 4 times each. I can’t wait until breaking dawn part one to come out(: I really really really want midnight sun to come out!!!!!!
Sayying that i love breaking dawn is like a mother sayying that her unborn child is a pain. I love twilight almost as much as edward loves bella. The first time i read it, i was bored so i picked it up at 6am and put it back down,finished,at two. 8hours sure make you hungary. Twilight got me out of my depression. It is like im falling apart,like bella,and the only thing holding me together is twilight. Plus im only 12 sooo….. anyways, i totally support sm 100% . I totally get where she is at. I have two reasons why you need to finish midnight sun. notice that i am saying midnight sun instead of the book? that is one way that i amm showing you that I am OBSESSED,CRAZED,PSYCHO,ERRATIC,MOONSTRUCK,LUNATIC,and MAD AS A MARCH HARE I am for the twilight series! Anyway reason #1 for why it is a superior good idea for you to write Midnight Sun is that you are a talented writer,an awesome creative person I know you can come up with great ideas about how Edward thought about Bella,the danger she was constantly in,the way her blood smells to him,the way she attracts him to her,anyway I’m trying to say is that your ideas are great! I am not the only person who thinks that either. As you probably know your fans are wanting you to finish that book they are probably DYING for it and I may or may not be exaggerating just a bit when I say that.You decide.
Reason #2:Don’t think about what the people who might (but I know they won’t because you are,once again,an awesome writer)say or compare the finished book(i know you’ll finish it ; ) to the draft that you were working on. if you think that people won’t like Midnght Sun when your done then just like Edward said to Bella in Twilight when she told him that she thought of herself ordinary, you don’t see yourself clearly. Okay maybe not quite like that. All that I am tying to say is, is that the people who will give it a bad review are crazy people! Not that anybody would, you’re too good of a writer for them to think that.

No offense if I am being offensive.In the beginning of sixth grade I was constantly searching for a series to satisfy me. I read romance and science fiction all to no avail. They simply did not fully satisfy my hunger. But in the sixth grade at my school in my english class a friend of mine who loved books almost as much as I did,almost,told me about the twilight series I hesitated.(Back then I wasn’t as obsessed about books) Sure i’ve heard of them, a girl in my class last year read them all the time, she was obsessed with them even! Back then I thought they were(cringe)boring. Boy was I ever wrong! They were exactly what I needed! Something fictional mixed with romance,just what I was looking for! I craved more. It was maddening to having to wait to read them but yet I never wanted to end them. So when I found out about Midnight Sun I was ecstatic! I felt so happy I screamed with joy.(my mom wasn’t too happy with me) But I didn’t care I was to happy! But when I found out that ou simply just stopped because of that inciddent,well,that bursted my bubble alright! I searched everywhere on the internet trying to find out if you were going to ever finish it. So please please please plese please please please pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssee finish Midnight Sun. I…AM…BEGGING!!!!! YOU!!!! It will mean the world to me if you finished it.

I think the reason that we all want Midnight Sun to come out is because we really want to see the whole Twilight series from Edward’s point of view. Mainly in my opinion, we want to see what he did during New Moon when he was away. Oh and what they really did for the bachelors party in Breaking Dawn. I’ve read the draft of the first half and loved it. I can wait for it to come out (: Just take your time (but don’t keep us waiting 4 or 5 years).
Ok so I have read the partial draft of Midnight Sun and I think Stephanie Meyers true fans are so into the story they don’t even notice any mistakes. Were there any? I was so engrossed in Edward’s view of events it was amazing!!! I really wanted to hear Edward’s take on their first kiss. So sad it ended before then. Whoever broke your trust and illegally posted the rought draft should be whipped in public. Just kidding (kind of). I really hope you don’t finish it. Reverse psychology right?

I didn’t know about Midnight Sun until about a year ago when I went onto your site and decided to read what you have posted there. I was so entranced by your vivid wording that I didn’t notice any typos or errors on the first 12 chapters! I know that you need to take your time I realize that but, I would like to be able to put a beautiful cover next to the Twilight Saga. I am a big fan and I say if people don’t like your books too bad for them that they don’t have a good taste in books 😛 And if they really don’t like it then THEY DON’T HAVE TO READ IT!!! I am one of your biggest fans and I don’t want to see Edward die! Throughout the whole series I wanted to know what Edward was thinking! I would pay top dollar for Midnight Sun just so I can read it and put it next to the other four books!!! I honestly think that whoever illegally posted it was not a true fan!
