Muse

(Taken from official Myspace) The Muse that drove out of Glastonbury 2004 was a very different one from the Muse that had arrived. Following seven years of near solid touring, buzzing with nervous anticipation; their escalation from being the biggest band in Teignmouth in 1997 to one of the biggest bands in Europe by 2004 had been a rocket ride. Glastonbury 2004 saw Muse storm troop onto the high table of classic Glastonbury headline acts and prove themselves a formidable force in British rock. It was only with that triumph fresh in their throats, they claim, that they realised they’d ‘made it’. Click here to read more.

Author’s note: For those of you who are not familiar with this group, they are Stephenie Meyer’s favorite band and can be found on all of the playlist. They are also a favorite of mine, and some even say they helped make Twilight what it is. -Kelly

Paramore

Vocals: Hayley, Bass: Jeremy, Guitar: Josh, Drums: Zac

Paramore, the rapidly emerging pop-punk quintet from Tennessee, has been building a near-deafening “next big thing” buzz. Driven by riveting live shows and the undeniable charisma of their frontwoman, 18-year-old Hayley Williams, they have captivated an increasingly rabid following. Confronted by the double-edged sword of overwhelming early praise, Paramore has risen to the challenge and recorded an album that happily delivers on all the claims made on their behalf. With their new Fueled By Ramen collection, “RIOT!,” they announce that they have the talent, the passion, and the songs to take themselves to the next level.

Author’s Note: This is another favorite of mine and you will find that some of their songs on “RIOT!” can parallel to Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn.- Kelly

The Black Ghosts
The Black Ghosts are a newer band out of the UK. The duo met on the internet and, not surprisingly, began making electronic music. They met phyiscally only after they had produced quite a bit of music together. Their style is a savvy mix of house music and rock.

Linkin Park
Linkin Park became an instant hit in the early 2000s by fusing nu metal and rap. The group is known for fusing many different types of music.  It is also said to be the cd that Bella listens to in order to not think about her revelation that Edward is a vampire in Twilight, and the same cd that he shows her in his car, later.

Author’s note – Quick six degrees of separation question – how do you get from Linkin Park to the old Chris Elliott TV show “Get A Life”? The lead singer, Mike Shinoda, was featured on a track on the 2004 Album White People by the producing duo known as Handsome Boy Modeling School, who took their name from an episode of the show “Get A Life”, starring Chris Elliott. Just for fun, I included that song on the playlist 🙂 -Lexine

Mute Math

Mute Math is a band out of New Orleans, LA.  They have a very smooth alternative sound that is similar to Keane out of the UK.  Also no stranger to soundtracks, they had a song on the Transformers soundtrack. They also gained acclaim for their first music video, which featured the band singing their hit “Typical”, backwards.

Perry Farrell

Perry Farrell is one of the most influential alternative artists of the eighties and nineties as the lead singer of Jane’s Addiction, and started the rock festival Lollapalooza as a farewell tour when the band broke up.  After Jane’s Addiction was put to bed, he and drummer Stephen Perkins went on to form another group called “Porno for Pyros” whose musical styles inclined more towards eastern styles and psychedelia.  His musical style can tend towards the surreal as is evidenced by his name (peripheral). Jane’s Addiction is recently reunited and is getting ready to tour.

Author’s note: PF was one of the most important singers when I was growing up, and the song “Pets” is the lynchpin of my “Host” playlist. -Lexine

Collective Soul
Collective Soul was a radio mainstay in the 90’s, and is no stranger to soundtracks. With the quintessential alternative singer and fuzzy guitar riffs, and surprisingly insightful lyrics, they have held on to a meaningful sound. They range from very grungy hits like “Where the River Flows” to sensetive rock ballads like “World I Know”.

Blue Foundation

Blue Foundation is a Danish electronic group. They were featured on the Miami Vice soundtrack, before being selected for the Twilight soundtrack.

Robert Pattinson

22 year old Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) is as much a talented actor as he is a musician. The Twilight Soundtrack will debut his song “Never Think”. Read more about Robert Pattinson here (His IMDb) or here (His bio page on TST).

Author’s Note- Although Rob’s music might not be what you excepted, to me, he is very talented! I am SO excited to hear his song! -Kelly

Iron & Wine

Iron & Wine is the stage name of Sam Beam.  He was raised in South Carolina and moved to Florida to attend school, which is readily apparent in his folky music.  He favors acoustic guitar and his lyrics are often biblically influenced. He is no stranger to Hollywood, having been featured on the “In Good Company” and “Garden State” soundtracks.

Author’s note: I am particularly partial to Iron & Wine, having walked down the aisle to the song “Jezebel”.  He is on every Twilight Series playlist I make. -Lexine

  14. Shteff! says:

    …wow…robert’s voice is beautiful 🙂 it’s definatly not what I expected…but wow.

  15. Jordan says:

    roBert’s singing:
When I first heard Bert sing a couple of months ago I was iffy about if I liked it or not because his voice is just so different from what im use to listening to (Die Hard Paramore Fan Here), but after listening to his music more I have came to the conclusion that Rob is truly a very VERY talented person. I am absolutely in love with his guitar playing..it’s beautiful…and his voice..which is very different..but soooo soulful it’s amazing and he has deep lyrics (which I wish I could find on Google). And when he sings..I mean I know a lot of ppl are not fond of his singing.. but it is actually very good just different and very deep, soulful, and complex..like him.. and I wish us fans would just stop being so dang critical and stop ranting about how you think his music sucks and just appreciate it because he for sure did not right his songs for you or any of us fans—at least if your going to be critical at least show some constructive criticism and tell WHY you don’t like it.
I’m just happy to see him in a different light other than as an actor or just i.e. Edward. When I listen to his music and then see him act, I totally feel like they are two different people it’s crazy. Overall, I can’t wait to here what song he has written for the movie and how it ties in with whatever scene it’s in.

    Others:
-Paramore, Paramore,Paramore,Paramore……I am ESTATIC that they have not 1 but 2 songs in the movie ! AND lead singer Hayley is a twilighter.–I already know the lyrics to decode by heart it’s awesome
    – Iron & Wine- good band
    – Muse-love them but im a little disappointed that “Super Massive Black hole” was chosen except for “Time is Running Out” I really thought they would use that one….and something else about Muse but random—Has anyone EVER heard to muse acknowledge or given thanks at least to SM publicly because seriously that REALLY annoying. If Jacks Mannequin, not even Blue October who with muse have significantly influenced her writing, but just Jacks Mannequin (who I love) can give thanks to SM for just thanking her for mentioning them in the back of her book but muse can’t thank her at least publicly (because personally irk) for like dedicating the series to them and probably giving them thousands of more fans than they ever have seems…..idk you tell me. Still love them though. But if they have and I just haven’t heard about it or scene it let me know and ill stop ranting.
-Linkin Park- im not a big fan but SM is so if she likes the song they use by them and they put the song in the right scene I guess im good with them

P.S.: Can someone PLEASE explain to me what is up with the song Love and Some Verses by Iron&Wine. I mean I like them and all but what is up with the dog like growl or some person making weird noises through a tube. I mean did I miss something or some logic that might explain why that part is in the song….

  16. Annabell says:

I like most of the soundtrack. As for Pattinson…i’m not sure what to make of his music just yet. I’m still a bit iffy about it. He does have a great voice, and his guitar skills are incredible. However, i think it might be the style of music that he plays that’s making me rethink my opinion. Probably that, and the fact that it’s difficult to understand what he’s saying. Overall, i’d say he’s good, but with some work, he could be amazing.

  17. Jessica Boone says:

I actually really enjoyed Robs music… its different and got his own personal touch to it its unique. I like artists like that you sing for themselves not for others.
I thought it was funny though when he went off key and then started laughing …. that defiantly made me laugh.

  18. V says:

i heard Bella’s Lullaby that was composed by robert pattinson. is he not doing it anymore?

  19. Carissa says:

Wow…um I pretty much love Linkin Park, and PARAMORE, this is a nice list of bands here. Yeah, I listened to Robert Pattinson’s stuff too…really surprised to say the least, I didn’t expect this kind of music from him. It’s something that I wouldn’t have picked if I had flipped through a radio, but knowing it was from him, I just HAD to hear it, you know?

I like it! It’s definitely interesting, and sort of reminds me of Lionel Neykov, it’s kind of old-fashioned/traditional-ish, in a way…interesting and unique, is what I can come up with. He’s definitely talented, I think, and if the acting, modeling, doesn’t work out- there’s always music!

  20. Aileen says:

Hmm,, Rob’s music is not what i expected. I expected him to be more vibrant and passionate. It is actually a bit Countryish, for me. I would prefer passion and vibrance. But i suppose everyone is different. But i admit he is talented, just a bit off key in some places, but i still LOVE him. I would like to hear him do a few more songs.

    ROB IS HOT ( L )

    xx

  21. Mary Claire says:

    um……
    robert pattinson…
i have one thing to say to him if he could ever read this:
“robert, you are beautiful and i love you, but you sing like a drunk, dying moose.”
sorry everyone if you don’t agree, but to me, its that bad.
and everyone, its the love you have for him thats taking over your ears. you are deceiving yourselves.
i have OED too(obsessive edward disorder), but i’m not gonna lie. that was not. good.
    I LOVE YOU ROB / EDWARD <333333

  22. Bernadette says:

I really like Rob’s sound! Very bluesy. Most of the tracks
sound like he’s just messing around, hanging with his friends, playing some blues.
    Awesome!

  23. maddie says:

I like rob’s music… but it’s just not my style. I’m just more paramore and linkin park. But rob is totally hot and has a great voice!

  24. v says:

rob needs to try singing. he is talking to music. not cool at all. i hope his regular voice isn’t like his singing vioce. luv u rob, but u need to get ur on. humph!

  25. Kasey says:

Personally, I enjoyed Rob’s music. His voice is reminiscent of a lot bands I listen to, especially Warren Haynes (See song – Beautifully Broken). I lot of Twilight fans are fans of newer music, especially Paramore and music like that but not me. It’s difficult to find good guitar pickin’ music these days that people of the younger persuasion can relate to but Rob, if ya see this (which you probably won’t) I know what you’re tryin’ to do and I can appreciate it!

p.s. – Turn off your radio and give it a chance!

  26. Mithrim says:

    I lov Muse and Paramore!!
The best i’ve ever heard!! yay!!
    Edward!!! ^^

  27. Mithrim says:

P.S: I never imagined that Rob could sing!!

  28. Haley says:

Im not gonna sugar coat this, RObert cant sing, I hate being mean to him, but he should stick to acting, I heard that he also plays piano, he should do that if he needs music. I think he is a great actor, but just not a great singer. SORRY if I offended any of you I didnt mean to just letting my opinion be known

  29. I love Edward & Emmet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE SO HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  30. Edward Cullen Lover 22 says:

I love Rob but he is the worst singer in the universe. To the girl that said he sounded like a drunk dying moose, I think he sounds even worse than that! I am soooooo sorry to anyone that loves his singing voice but it sucks. I’m not even sure that someone that is that bad at singing should be allowed to record his voice legally.

  31. Edward Cullen Lover 22 says:

Just one more thing to add. I’m sorry if anyone was offended by my previous comment (especially if Rob is reading it right now) but everyone has their own opinions and mine are always VERY strong. So don’t hold a grudge against me, just post a comment expressing your feelings in a healthy way.

  32. meredith says:

god this is soooooooooooo different then the velvet voice i heard in Twilight. he is still hot but cam and kellen (james and emmett) are still hotter!!!!!!

  33. Rob Pattinson says:

I hate who ever said i sing horribally and i was just messing around with cam(james) taylor(jacob) and kellen(emmett). it was like 3 am we were filming twilight. we got really bored and kellen had his laptop and we recored some songs and posted them and now every one has them and my voice sounded really bad. cuz i was sick after being in the cold rain all day.

  34. April Tobin says:

You tell ’em, Rob. It wasn’t like you were in a recording studio at the time! Give him a break, everyone. I bet each of us would sound terrible if were were sick and tried to sing at that hour. Don’t take it personally, Rob. You’re just human, after all; only Edward is the (perfect) vampire!

  35. silvia says:

I Love Robs music exactly my style, 🙂

but i also love paramore and blue foundation etc
im just lucky that like every type of music is my style lol

  36. Nicole says:

Rob is so talented!!! I loved Never Think!!!!!

  37. sera says:

I know Rob’s music is different than everything that most people listen to. I personal love it, especially Let Me Sign.Hearing the strain in his voice is absolutely painful (in a good way). The music totally mesmerizes me… :]

  38. sarah says:

  41. Amanda says:

I absolutely love Paramore and if it wasn’t for this album, I would have never found out about their music so I’m really glad that they’re on the soundtrack. Decode is amazing and I’m starting to really get into I Caught Myself. I also adore Supermassive Black Hole with an awesome punky beat to it, I just love singing along. All the songs are good so I’m happy with the soundtrack.
